I've had the Primavera Salad before and it was delicious. Today I got the same thing and received it on a bed of what is probably less than a handful of shredded lettuce, the pecans were not caramelized, and there were no oranges or cranberries. Also, it was COVERED in shrimp?? The salad does not come with shrimp and I do not like shrimp. Luckily I got a refund through the delivery service but still wanted to post about the entire lack of quality assurance or care from this restaurant. I've always been a big guacamole girl, but Breaking Bad fans know the scene where the waiter is super passionate about the table-side quac, while Hank and Walter are in the middle of that super serious scene? Awkward and hilarious, and I've been wanting table-side quac since then. What a great excuse to hit up Agave while visiting my mom in Ormond, and after reading thru the reviews, I was sold. We hit them up on Labor Day weekend, which seemed to be perfect timing, as everyone else was at the beach or grilling out. There was a decent crowd inside, but the weather had just cooled down, so we opted for outside seating. And of course started with the table-side quac, which was fresh and delicious. You can choose your spice level, and while it needed just a *tad* more lime juice (momma is always right) it was still really good and hit the spot. I also spied the chorizo queso.... so that was up next, and what came was kinda unexpected. (I didn't read the menu description, I just saw chorizo and cheese and said, yes please. So when it came out, thinking it was more of a saucy dip, our chips broke almost instantly, trying to get a bit, because this is more like Saganaki. You'll definitely need a fork and maybe a knife, but it comes out all bubbly, in a little cast iron skillet, and is totally yummy, but not the typical queso style dip you might be used too. (It's worth the extra effort thou!) I ordered the tacos al carbon, and my stomach only had so much room after a margarita, beer and all of our apps. It was good, and the portions are HUGE! so be prepared to take a lot of food home with you. All in all, our server was excellent, and I'd definitely head back this way. read more

Stopped for gas on drive back from Miami and it was sunset, so of course I pull up the Yelp app to find a place to get food before I get back on the road for Jax. This place was near AND was Mexican so I called 28 minutes before closing to place an order for take-out and they obliged. The hostess that answered was very friendly. I asked what she recommended and she asked my budget. I said $10-15 and she said she would make sure I got something good. I thought, "OK, surprise for dinner, I guess." I found the location easily and there's a large veranda area in front of the restaurant. When I walked in it was mostly empty (about 5 minutes after my call), and after a few minutes the hostess showed up. She asked if I was the person that called in the order and she said it would be ready soon. I waited, and waited, and waited. For a to-go order placed near closing, I thought my food would be ready sooner. I waited over 35 minutes. The food was good. I ended up with some sort of taco (2 steak and 2 chicken) combination covered with red sauce, tomatoes, peppers and onions. The refired beans with cheese were good, and I enjoyed the guacamole and the bag of chips and salsa. The food was 4 to 5* good, and eating there I think would be a decent experience. However, the wait time and prices made me consider 3* but I enjoyed the food (a very generous serving) that much. My search for amazing Mexican food in FL goes on--I will not give up! read more

Ordered beef burrito and my son got a chicken one but the waitress was MIA forever.. daughter got the kids pizza and the fries never came but again the waitress was MIA so we couldn't tell her. Asked for another margarita and she brought that and a bud light for my husband? The chimichanga was amazing and all the food was so good so it made up for the bad waitress. To start with, loved the guacamole !! It is unlike the others served in the restaurants I have dined in till date. It has some spiciness to it that goes well with the tortillas. We had the shrimp diabla, fish tacos and flan. I opted for hot vs mild and boy did I shed few tears while I ate them. I felt the spiciness overpowered the flavor of the dish. Should have gone for mild. The fish tacos were delicious. The tacos and the fish felt so fresh - they literally would disintegrate inside your mouth without much effort from the jaws :) The flan was average. More like a custard. So disappointed in our experience. We were traveling I-95 and went on Yelp to find something good to eat for lunch. I read a recent review that gave 5 stars just 7 days ago and decided to try it. We completely understand during these times that things are a little more difficult but there were only 6 active tables in the whole place. The servers were not attentive at all. I had to ask another sever passing by for more chips. We ordered the guacamole, and they make it table side but it took a long time for him to come. The guacamole was amazing though and the queso with chorizo. We ended up only sharing a quesadilla because everything took too long already that we did not want to chance waiting any longer for several meals. There were 4 of us. Located in an unassuming strip center, we stopped for lunch on our way back Home. Convenient to the interstate but a little hidden from the main road, we were quickly greeted and seated. There are plenty of televisions for anyone who is interested. Place is clean and booths are comfortable. The chips and salsa were very good, and we ordered the large guacamole which was prepared fresh at our table. Excellent choice as an alternative dip. My carne asada had a char grill flavor which was a welcome change for me. It was tender steak which was seasoned fine. The rice and beans were ample and our lunch portion was more than enough. My wife and I visited while traveling south en route to FL. We had the chicken quesadillas and a ground beef chimichanga. The chips were tasty and the salsa was chunky and good. However, no spiciness or no good 'bite' to it. Same was true for the meals. Both were good, but no hint of jalapeño in anything, thus everything was a little bland. Same for the guacamole. Service was good. Recommend to management that they add some Mexican flavoring. Recommend to quests to eat outside as we did, since the interior is nothing to desire. read more

Did take out. The food was pretty good and the girl who took our order was knowledgeable about vegetarian ingredients. I got the vegetarian fajita and the portion was big and included beans, vegetables, rice, guacamole etc. The wait for the food was 30 minutes even though we were told it would be 10 minutes. This is a great Mexican place in Ormond. The plates a huge!! Bring an appetite or order small. You will have left overs. Nice big place to spread out. If you have a big group no problem either. The pictures do not do the portions justice. The food is great. We tend to get the lunch specials but they can put anything together for you as well. read more

Everything was good like always, we been eating here for over 5 years. It looks like someone else took over, the menu was updated and new items in the menu. We had the red snapper and my wife love it!!! Only one thing I don't like is they now will automatically charge you the gratuity on your bill. I didn't like it and request it be removed from my bill. Stopped here on our way back home from leaving Orlando. Everyone loves Mexican so this stop was a no-brainer! I got the fajita chimichanga with shrimp, my husband got the shrimp tacos, and my daughter's got the tableside guacamole with chips and the beef enchilada. Everyone enjoyed their meals, but the tableside guac was the biggest hit of the lunch! My daughter loved watching them make it and loved it even more when she got to taste it. It was really good. My shrimp was not the best, clearly frozen prior, but I did basically expect that. It was seasoned well at least! My husband does not like refried beans so he's always happy when restaurants have the whole black beans option for him so he doesn't have to get "double rice". This was a great, quick lunch for us, and good prices too! We wouldn't necessarily go out of our way to come here again, but would definitely eat here again if we were in the area or driving through. read more

I have been going here for many years and tonight I had the worst service ever. They did look short of help but were not busy at all. I had to ask for my order to be taken after 20 min of being there. I always get the house margarita because they have ALWAYS been buy one get one. When my bill came I was charged for all the house margaritas so I asked and I was told that they are only buy one get one on Tuesday. Like I said I have been going here for many many years and know otherwise. I would have got a real margarita for that price had I known things had changed. I will not be back. I will go to guacamole when I want Mexican food now. read more

We were craving Mexican food and drove a bit out of town to Agave. We enjoyed the mariachi man! We ordered the table -side guacamole and while it was good, it was a bit too much on the spicy side. Caliente! Their Carne asada is very good and the portions were large -- one plate could easily feed two people. The drinks were also good, although the berry-flavored was too sweet for some of us. The chips and salsa were good and service was fairly quick considering our party was large. Overall: we liked it! read more

Our service was good from start to finish. They had a good Happy Hour with specials on house margaritas and draft beers. Chips/ salsa was delicious and several salsa serving dishes. I asked for the smallest margarita and instead she brought me the largest. My frozen margarita was terrible and my husband said he didn't even taste alcohol in his. I tried to get the free cheese dip for saying "hey Jose" and they charged me anyways. NEVER brought anything we asked for (always asked twice) you could tell that they were all just trying to get us out the door because they were all running around doing side work. We don't live here so I'll never be back again, but if you live here I would try sitting at the bar where they're actually forced to wait on you. read more

We were on our way to Daytona and looking for a family-friendly dinner option. Mexican is my favorite, and I noticed Mole was on Agave's menu. I had the Mole enchiladas. It was a nice portion, and the mole had a great flavor. My wife had steak tacos and we were pleased by the quality of the steak and the flavor. They also double up on the corn tortillas, which is what you find in Cali, a must for full tacos. My kids were happy with the food, and the table side guac was excellent, and I am not a huge guac fan. Really like the chips also. Good service as well. Only minus was the Pepsi products. read more

I can't even give this restaurant 1 star, first we decided to dine outside so we told the staff we were there and they told us to sit anywhere we wanted to. So we sat there and waited but after 20 minutes nobody came to even give us menus. My daughter finally got up and went inside and asked if we could get service the woman said of course, well after another 20 or so minutes somebody finally came out with menus we asked for drinks but the gentleman said somebody would be out shortly, more waiting then somebody took our drink order and left . We ordered Margaritas which I have to say tasted like rubbing alcohol we also ordered guacamole which was decent. Finally we got our orders what a let down, the only thing that was eaten was the yellow rice. I have never had worse Mexican food. Taco Bell is better. We used to love this restaurant. We went back for the first time since COVID. Seems like something changed. Does it have new management? Service has slipped. Menu changed. 2 out of 5 were disappointed with meals whereas we all used to be happy. I live in Palm Coast and have driven the 25+ miles to Ormond Beach several times just to eat at Agave. Their carne asada is the best I ever had: real skirt steak perfectly marinated and grilled. The refried beans and enchiladas are tastier than most, too. Drink prices are great and happy hour seems to always be going on. Sangria, however, is not particularly good. Opt for beer or margaritas instead. Seating is comfortable in colorful Mexican themed booths and the capacity is quite large. Service is adequate though not always as friendly as it should be. The restaurant seems very clean, but the strong smell of cleaning agents can sometimes be overwhelming. I would rather smell food than cleaners. I think management could find some that don't stink up the place. read more
