My wife and I were meeting her brother and sister-in-law for lunch and they suggested this place as recommended by their son who works at the DeLand airport. The place had cool vibes, albeit a bit dingy, as you're basically hugging the flight line while you dine. There were five of us for lunch. We ordered a Crispy Chicken Salad ($14.56), Tommy's Chicken Walnut Salad ($14.56), 2 Bonanza Burgers with fries ($18.72 + $3.12), and a Black Hawk Burger with fries ($18.72 + $3.12). Drinks were 2 iced teas and a Diet Coke ($3.12 each). My wife thought her chicken salad had a good flavor, moist and tender chicken. However, she thought the croissant wasn't light and flaky. My Black Hawk burger had good enough flavor BUT the bun was falling apart and wasn't even warmed up. In the end, I had to finish eating it with a fork and knife. Decent service and ambient but value was lacking. It's probably a "one and done" place for us. Lunch for 5 with tip came out to just over $130. read more

The restaurant patio itself is very cool. The service is terrible. Went on our lunch break (first visit) today. Waited an awfully ling time for our food. Server came back 30+ minutes later to tell us she never rang it in. And has forgotten what we ordered. Mistakes happen, i get it. The audacity when we told her we didnt have time to wait for the "new" order to get cooked etc. to hand us a bill for drinks and a side salad, which came with the mean that never appeared was beyond comprehension. I wasnt entirely surprised. I overheard the same waitress charge two women 0.53 on their credit card for a side of ranch on a closed out bill. I get accountability in a restaurant keeps the lights on, but so does award winning service. Will NEVER be back to try that lunch I ordered lol. read more

My grandmother and I stopped in last Saturday for lunch. Sat outside by the planes. Was a beautiful day. Service was great. Very attentive & polite. All the food was on point. My mimosa was good as well def could be alittle fuller though. Deck should be completely redone. Still very unsafe pcs sticking up causing lots of tripping hazards. Cool location, like watching the planes. Me & my husband had dinner early this evening. We both ordered the Fish & Chips basket, which menu described as grouper & 4 fried shrimp for $21. We also ordered their version of jalapeño popper, which was pretty good. We're fairly sure the fish in our entre wasn't grouper, we ordered it fried, classic fish & chips style. They make the best hamburgers and cheeseburgers that I have ever had in my life and have done so to my knowledge since I had my first one in in 1985. I am sure they were making them before then but I don't know when they started. They also pour a stiff drink. Our first time here and almost our last as they STILL allow people to smoke. We moved away from the smokers. Next, we were thrilled to find Grouper sandwiches and a Grouper salad among other items on their menu. Of course, you may also come here to watch the planes and sky jumpers. We each ordered the Grouper salad. No original dressing as I think they use Ken's. The salad was very basic with some tomatoes and croutons. The fish was delicious! We had it both blackened and with the lemon. Next time I will order the Grouper Rueben. The salad needed more dressings by the way. I added the spicy mustard on the table to make it work. The staff are ALL fantastic! But, at times a little slow to respond to things. We were disappointed to see our bill go up when we paid. The great staff neglected to tell us about an up charge for credit cards. We would have paid cash and then they also would have gotten tipped. Maybe better training...? One word: Onion Rings!! Also the burgers are all ridiculously delicious- all of them!! Servers are cute and fun as well as relaxed. They can offer good recommendations on beers too. I really enjoyed my dinner here! I really wanted a burger and every single time someone in the Deland FB page asks where to get a burger this is a common answer. We arrived on a colder night so the outside was empty but walked right in and sat down inside at a high top table. I do have to say, if my husband wasn't there, who usually goes to small bars, I probably wouldn't have felt as comfortable as everyone turned around and looked at us like they knew we didn't belong there... Anyways, we were greeted quickly and our drink orders were taken. Noticeably, service was great. Even servers that were not assigned to our table asked if we need anything, drink refills, ect. We ordered motz sticks as our app and 2 burgers. I did notice that they charge for everything extra and substitutions. Burgers come with chips but we both wanted fries, that was an extra $6 alone so I would say this place is kind of pricey. The food however, tasted great and the burgers were huge. They were cooked perfectly as we do not like an over cooked hockey puck and they also had pub fries which was a little plus because those are our favorite and a rare find. When your husband is celebrating his birthday and wants burgers - you go to the Airport Restaurant I'm Deland! Really decent prices, the burgers were super flavorful and the sweet potato fries were addicting!! :) we had about 20 people in our group and Lexie (our waitress) did an outstanding job handling our large party. Typically with larger parties you have a longer wait than usual for food, but that was not the case here! Everyone got their food in a timely fashion, they also put us in our own room to be able to mingle and chat as we wanted. What an interesting restaurant located at the airport! You can enjoy a nice meal while watching planes taking off and landing and best of all - skydivers! Hit or miss here. Its fun place to go watching the skydiving, but the food may be ok or terrible. Its a gamble. Last time I had lunch there my burger was undercooked. I returned it and didnt get it back until our table was leaving. I ate it later that day. It was hard and overcooked. A waste of money. Friends of ours recommended Airport Restaurant so we gave it a try. First when we got there the outside patio dining area seem to be the popular spot. We weren't sure if you just find a table or wait for a table. Several employees walked past us but didn't offer any assistance. We finally found a signed that said seat yourself. We found a table next to the airport fence which was nice because we were able to watch the planes take off and land. We were seated awhile before a waitress ask us if anyone had helped us then took our drink order. My wife ordered a coke which looked as half of it was water. Anyway we ordered our food, my wife ordered a Cheeseburger and I had Fish and Chips. Her burger was real good, but if we ever returned we will order it medium well because it was fairly red inside and a little undercooked. My Fish and Chips was a good portion and looked good, but tasted as if the cooking oil was old. Overall the food wasn't bad but the service needed improvement. We never saw the first waitress again and someone else brought the food. The only other time we saw anyone is when we got the bill. The food is really delicious and you can watch the planes come in and out and you can also go and see that people parachuting. It's a really fun place. My go to here is the grouper sandwich fully loaded, sweet potato fries, and a side of pepperoncini peppers. The Gin Mill is lively after dark, with live music and sports on of the time. We always sit outside under the stars, even in December, like tonight at 75° and very low humidity - I love Florida! Everything is made to order. No heat lamp food. Service is reasonably swift, servers and bartenders are pleasant and polite. It's on our regular rotation of places to go for casual. Bonus is the open view of private planes and float planes from the outside deck with a large outside bar. There's a bar inside too but I prefer the one outside. During the day there's opportunity to watch sky divers land. We have 2 pilots in our family which lends to the appeal of dining at the Airport Gin Mill. read more

We heard the talk about the best burger in the area.. It was pretty darn good. This place is very casual, paper plates, plastic utensils, and a roll of paper towels on the tables, but with that said the service was great, the food was fresh and hot, and we enjoyed our stay. There is an out side bar that is dog friendly and a great place to watch the activity at the airport. A large stage waits for live music to return in September. This place is hidden away at the Deland Airport so you do have to look for it, but it's worth the hunt. read more

First time I came here was not bad, which is the reason I came back again. My second time here was absolutely atrocious. Wyatt was our server and he wasn't personable at all. I asked for an iced water and never got it. I had to go walk up all the way to the bar and asked for one from someone else after 20 minutes of watching Wyatt greet and serve other guest and bring them drinks. I had ordered some mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they never came and they still put them on my check. I told the server about it and he said "Oh yeah, They never came out" And walked away. Never apologized or anything. I ordered my burger medium and it came out medium well, but I ate it regardless because I was over at that point. Lastly, this place has some shady practices. This is a check that I received. Prices are completely different than the menu. The bartender tried to argue that those are the taxes built, but the entire check is just difficult to read and they pocket some money on the side. I'll probably never come to this place again. An outdoor bar area with a stage sets the tone, as I'm sure the place gets down on Friday & Saturday nights. The staff is also very friendly. I came for lunch and sat at the outdoor bar.
