    Speculoos - Brussels
    Vivian N.

Was so excited to try this new waffle place, and it definitely went beyond my expectations! First of all the store is super cute inside, there are "hidden" gnome doors all around, so it definitely give a cute and fun vibe. The owner (or who I assume was the owner as sher was the only one there), was super helpful in explaining the different kinds of goods that they had. You order with a kiosk so everything was pretty efficient. It probably helped that there weren't that many people in there, but that's because we went in later. We ended up getting a Speculoos Brussel and then twice Lièges (one toasted almond and the other the ruby chocolate) The Brussel was so crisp, fluffy, and buttery all at once. the Speculoos, for those like me who have never tried or heard of it, is akin to a thin creamy peanut butter. The Liège were more dense but still had that buttery flavor to them. I agree that they would be even better toasted/ reheated, but the fact that they were great at room temperature says more than enough. Overall, I definitely will be back for more!

Waffles and coffee, both excellent, busy with a decent amount of seating, relaxing atmosphere and quick efficient service. Child friendly, even toy bins for them to play with, separated by age! Plenty of parking .

Great food. One of the only spots in town that doesn't use seed oils, only butter! 2 different types of waffles and fresh ingredients.

Hojicha Latte Classic Liege Matcha Liege ( not on their menu ... yet !)

It was my first time in here so I wasn't sure what to order. The owner was so sweet and explained what everything was for me and what was new on the menu. I ended up getting a hojicha latte and a classic liege which were both wonderfully delicious! The liege was warm and crunchy and this had to be one of the best hojicha lattes I've had since California. It's a cute quiet place so if you need to do work or want to chill and relax with friends or family it's the perfect place.

Galley-like set up as you walk in. Breakfast diner vibes more than 'cafe and bakery'. Kitchen to your left as you walk down short corridor into cafe. Sloth-like chill attitude encouraged; the hashtag is #letshangtogether. Had fun looking at all the little sloth decor throughout. Lots of light and glass. VERY limited seating; seats about 15 (?) inside; mostly 2 tops and a 6 top. When we walked in, we were greeted warmly, permitted to sit where ever we would like, then handed menus. Turkish music playing was just a bit too loud. Hospitality. Friendly and helpful. Owner-chef seemed very happy to be there, singing and engaging with his regulars. Offerings. Basic breakfast and lunch items with Turkish and Mediterranean classics. No flavored lattes but other basic espresso drinks offered. Chai was excellent. Had the Turkish coffee because it was a Turkish joint; was REALLY good; strong. We had the Simit Platter; sesame-like NY bagel, feta chunks, and olives. All very good. See pics. Apparently they offer cooking classes, catering, and meal prep pick-up -- for ever-changing healthier, fresh, easy-prep take-out options. Of Note and Last Impressions. Lot parking. Overall, fun.

It was tasty and even better with the bread they provided. It could've been packaged in a better way because the oil dripped out everywhere by the time we got it home. Maybe a plastic container with a tight fitting lid. The mezze platter was also quite nice, especially the carrot appetizer. The bulgur patties were also flavorful. The artichoke was slightly disappointing because it didn't have any other flavor than salt and vinegar, similar to canned/bottled artichokes. The salad was fresh and the dressing was light. Overall, this was a light and tasty lunch.

This seems to be a hangout for the senior / retiree crowd (or at least it was when I visited!). Ordered the Lumberjack Breakfast, which came with three types of meat, eggs, choice of potatoes (I chose hash browns), and pancakes (which I substituted for Belgian waffles for $2). Everything was tasty, except the waffles which were slightly tough. The waitress was friendly, but service was slow. (In their defense, the place was packed.) Overall a decent, inexpensive breakfast; and I'll be back again.

Had a seat and ordered a simple breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs white toast on white bread and a coffee. Out of curiosity I looked over the menu and saw the ~$20 omelletes that have become the norm these days, ridiculous. My order arrived quickly enough. The scrambeled eggs were the typical dried out flat blob on a plate, this is what passes for scrambeled eggs these days, toast equals wonder bread with fake butter on one side. This combination should be $4 max, nope $7. how 2 pieces of wonderbread and 2 dried out, flattened egg beaters is $7 is a mystery to me, those are omellete prices. Now the kicker, cup of coffee $4, this is a folgers crystal special with the little thimbles of "creamers"... $4?? Restaurant pricing has become absurd, yes food is up 15-20%, restaurant pricing is up 80-90% So Fernando's, what can I say, the staff is doing their job, the place is clean, just stop robbing people. I would never go back for sub standard food at premium price points, all you 5-star fanboys keep emptying your wallet for hospital cafeteria eggs and coffee, its your money.

The people now serving there are not doing there job seriously and ruining my morning mood daily. I am liking the taste at all. I really asked if it's possible to do something for that, otherwise no problem there are more coffee places. I just really wish you guys could do better with that guy. Also one more incident I would like to share that the person now serving is literally not taking the job seriuosly becuse he gave me my coffee cup with the bigger lid which wasn's fit on the cup at all and that I wasn't aware of. When I drank my coffee it was all over me with that lid, so you can now understand what is happening. I am not very happy btw. Thanks though.
