Despite hiring a company that was supposed to oversee and coordinate the build, there was little to no project management provided. Nearly all of the work was performed by third-party subcontractors, and there was no meaningful follow-up or quality control from the company. Instead of proactively managing the project, they relied on us to identify problems, report issues, and continuously follow up for corrections. Even when legitimate concerns were raised, getting items repaired or completed properly felt like pulling teeth. Communication and accountability were lacking throughout the process. The most frustrating part was the disconnect between the sales process and the actual experience. During the sales pitch, they told us everything we wanted to hear and presented themselves as a full-service company that would handle the project from beginning to end. In reality, we found ourselves acting as the project manager, quality control inspector, and customer service department. If you're considering this company, be prepared to closely monitor every phase of the project and advocate for yourself at every step. Based on our experience, I would not use them again and would not recommend them to others.

Lien, who is the office manager, communicates effectively and promptly. When they first arrived they had the audacity to park their truck on our front lawn and wanted to mix the PebbleTec 'knock off' product while parked on the lawn! I told them to get the truck off of the lawn but they still ruined a large part of my front lawn when they hosed off the their buckets, wheel barrel and tarp On the grass. The cement and or chemical materials killed the lawn In one area. The crew also dumped buckets of some liquid (diluted acid?) into my flower beds and killed a few plants. The entire process was a complete f'up. They put down a few pieces of new sod in our front yard but it all died. They also put in a new plant to replace the one that they killed with diluted acid(?) that they poured in the flower bed by the pool. That plant died soon after and another one I planted there died too. When we were able to use the pool we noticed that the surface of the pool was so rough and sharp that it actually cut our feet and we ended up having to use water shoes so our feet dint get cut. Bottom line.. I would not recommend Nelson Pools to resurface your pool.

However, before the pool was completed, I learned that he had been let go from the company for unknown reasons, which raised a red flag for me. Despite this, I continued with Waterscapes and was assigned a project manager named Grayson Whitman. Grayson communicated smoothly and effectively, and I ignored several red flags, convinced that the final result would turn out well. In hindsight, I deeply regret not overseeing the project more closely and not expressing my concerns more assertively when something didn't look right. This experience has taught me the importance of vigilance and assertiveness in such projects. My disappointment with the craftsmanship of the pool and spa is profound. Waterscapes hired some of the lowest-quality contractors I have ever encountered. Within just over a year, my pool has faced several issues. For instance, the pavers were installed unevenly and are on a slope that seems too steep. Also, mold has started growing between the pavers, a clear sign of poor workmanship. Moreover, the cage has begun to rust, and the screening is breaking due to being stretched too tightly. Given my price for the pool and spa, I expected them to last longer before showing signs of wear. The fact that these defects appeared within the first year after completion was unexpected and disappointing. You may wonder if I reported these issues, and the answer is yes. However, most of my complaints were dismissed despite believing they were justified. I encourage potential buyers to be cautious when dealing with this company. All the problems I mentioned arose just over a year after I had the pool installed. As you might expect, they offer only a one-year warranty, and once that period is up, they will not even take your call. I could share much more, but this platform only allows limited information. We heard great things about Jackson Custom Pools from a neighbor who was rescued by them from another pool company that dug a hole in their yard and then went bankrupt. The planning went great, everyone injured the office was so professional and friendly. Christine guided us through our design and we dove in head first. Day 1 of construction came and they started, by the end of day 2 the pool was dug out and framed. Day 3 the concrete was sprayed. We figured that they can't keep up at this pace. The driver of the concrete truck told me we were lucky because we had one of the best companies he knew and their best crew. Well he was right our construction manager Derek was masterful as he coordinated all of the sub contractors through their part, and his assistant Austin their taking care of many tasks and assisting with the small details. There were a few changes that had to be made (our mistakes) that were addressed and remedied quickly. My wife wanted me to ask them to speed up the acid washing of the pavers. I told her "They are 5 to 9 weeks ahead of schedule, I'm not rocking the boat". We had estimated that we would be swimming by July 4th if we were close to the early end of the time frame we were given. We were swimming by the first week in June. Not only were we ahead of schedule but the pool, pavers and pool cage far exceeded our expectations. I would recommend them to family and close friends, and if I were to do this again at another house they would be the only ones I called.
