Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place.

Their food is all pretty good and drinks are fairly priced. Their staff are what I would call elusive and very no frills--beyond your first order, they're a bit hard to flag down to order additional items, settle bills, or otherwise. We had an incident where my friend ordered an alcohol-free beer, but when received, they had a sip and suspected it had alcohol in it because it tasted like the regular alcoholic version. We asked the staff to confirm if the drink they poured was actually alcoholic beer on tap, or if it was an emptied can of the alcohol-free beer. The staff came back and apologized, saying it was the alcoholic beer and poured from the tap but the order placed was indeed the alcohol-free beer. My friend then requested to have the can for the alcohol-free beer instead of poured in a glass to be safe, because she was pregnant. The staff then realized the gravity of the issue and went to get the can, saying we can keep the other glass. A few minutes later, someone who I presume to be a manager came over to say she had clarified the situation again and that it was actually NOT the alcoholic beer--which at this point we weren't inclined to trust. The manager did not apologize, but instead said that a bit of alcohol is okay when you're pregnant... We didn't say anything or raise a fuss, just smiled awkwardly. We left not too long after, and we were charged for the mistaken beer as well. This experience put a bit of damper on going to this place, as it was a frequent spot we visited for decent happy hour specials. However it's evident that staff do not know how to handle special circumstances, nor do they seem to have high EQ. If you are a person with no dietary needs, no wheelchair or crutches (because it's cramped as hell and the washrooms are located on the 2nd floor), not pregnant, and no allergies, then this place is probably fine. But if you have any of the above, then you should skip it in case of incident.

Something about the presentation and how you had to be there for it. I don't know about that. I ordered the Atlantic salt cod (fried cod balls) and while they were super good, the presentation left me thinking, "I could have totally eaten this in my giant robe in bed." Regardless, I enjoyed every bite. I did end up getting approval to take my dessert to-go. This made me very happy. It was a chocolate mouse-like thing, shaped like a heart (it was just after Valentine's Day). It came with berries and drizzled with chocolate. Very decadent. This was a very hip spot. Arugula replaces basil, while a rich Parmesan cream stands in for fresh mozzarella, giving the dish a deeper, more savory profile without losing the freshness of the tomatoes. The balsamic balances the arugula's slight bitterness beautifully, and the juicy tomatoes cut through the richness of the cream. Fried capers add a pleasant burst of Mediterranean saltiness at the end. Simple ingredients, thoughtfully combined. Chicken Scarpariello This was easily the highlight of the meal. The chicken skin was beautifully seasoned and roasted until fragrant. Instead of being overly juicy, the meat was incredibly tender, with a faint blush of pink at the center. The Italian sausage had a firm, satisfying bite and a rich meaty flavor. I rarely describe roasted potatoes as "melt-in-your-mouth," but these truly were. Many years from now, I may no longer remember the wildfire that day--but I'll probably still remember this chicken.

Horrible food can inspire writing just like true art is generated by impoverishment an be consumed by the materialist as a parallel experience of experiencing emotion without the persisting searing pain and feeling more alive through this process. This genuine transformation of becoming a caring human being if the recipient believes it has achieved a goal and can execute a purposeful life without the need for attendance at a gala, or having their name attached to the undertaking. Paying workers sub livable wages and then speeding millions of $ to assuage their greed is so transparent it is translucent for all the participants. Let the 99% in to see Frida, enjoy the churros (aka cake) and may the art propagate what is meant to do ........... Not be an asset for materialistic greed or interpretation. This a great spot to have a nice lunch break while visiting the amazing AGO. We did have to decline the table they teied to seat us at right in the traffic path between the kitchen and the lower level (now WHY would they offer that table to anyone) , and insisted upon a nice banquette table. Our server was absolutely flawless , attentive and ever so amiable which made for the most pleasant lunch. My partner had the Benny...quite nicely presented but thought that avocado was overkill on the beautiful salmon benny, but otherwise a nice plate. I had the chicken NOT piccata...it was done with a tomatoe sauce over the chicken breast then parmesan, far too heavy to serve with waffle (which was cold) and a fried egg and i think ruined it..definately NOT piccata which is coated and sautéed in a LIGHT sauce and would have been lovely...this would have made this dish innovative perfection at $21...instead it was just wrong on SO many levels. The wine list is excellent. We would go back, and give it another try it was a great convenient spot to break our day of gallery touring. read more

You can see from the pic that there was a large piece of silver skin/tendon that was inedible and was really annoying to have to cut off. The steak itself was cooked med rare and was tender but was seriously lacking salt and none was offered. Too bad because this could have been a really nice steak. Mash potatoes were creamy and delicious. Veggie hash was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed this versus the usual broccoli/veg that comes with steak. Again it would have benefited from a hint of spice to open and excite the tastebuds. Desert: crème brûlée donuts with Carmel sauce. Wow these were incredible and the highlight of the meal. Overall I'd give the meal a 4. Nothing was bad per se but at this price the expectation is that all of the little details will be covered (to me under-seasoning is unacceptable at this kind of restaurant). Service was amazing and extremely attentive to refilling wine and water.

I noticed that they constantly changed the items to prevent the food from becoming stale. I only wish the breakfast times didn't end so early (9:30AM), but it's the breakfast from a hotel so it's expected. An interesting spin on beef tartare by having them essential create your bite for you on a tart. Bone in veal parmigiana: I used to have their bone in veal all the time and it has been replaced by this. Saucy. Nice. But not sure I like it better. It doesn't come with anything on the side. Chicken tandoori: good flavour. Big portion. Wife liked it. Service was average. Will be back.

She helped me put together a bespoke dinner menu with enough vegetarian options (some team members were vegetarians). We had assorted Canapes that included Chicken Skewers, Smoked Salmon Crostinis, Caprese and Spring Rolls. All were very tasty and popular. The red and white wine selections- Cab Sav and the Chablis were pretty good. For the mains the team had a selection of Prime Rib, Vegan Cassoulet, Cornish Hen or Pasta Primavera to choose from. I personally had the Prime Rib which was done medium rare and cooked to perfection in its jus. Marbling was ok, however not perfect (my portion had a bit extra fat hanging at the edges) and sauce was good. I heard the hen and the cassoulet were tasty too. We finished the evening off with Lava Cake and Creme Brulee, with the lava cake getting more thumbs ups. The service and the bar were attentive, courteous and fast and people got their special cocktails and drinks at the bar as and when needed. All in all, everyone was pleased with the evening.

The drinks took maybe another 15 minutes. The time limit we were given was 1 hour and 20 mins by the way. After we got our drinks, we got our orders in. Most of the time when i looked back, our waitress would be on her phone. I believe she was the manager (tall young Asian lady) she didn't have her mask on unless she was literally BY our table and put it up. Whenever i would ask her a question about the menu, she just looked simply annoyed and i did NOT feel welcomed. The food came in a reasonable time. It was tasty but honestly nothing special. The meat in the burger was really really tough though. The fries tasted like McDonald fries with a hint of Parmesan. We wanted to order desserts but the waitress would literally come and picked up our food and left while we literally were mid sentence. We were appalled. We got the desserts and talked for a while. The only reason i gave them two stars is because the food is quite good and we were allowed to stay for a while. The bill came to be handwritten? It was expensive for what we ordered and the service we received. Would not come back.

The burger was hefty and delicious, loaded with bacon and cheese atop a big juicy burger patty. I opted for their side salad which was bigger and better than I expected. My cousin had the Harvest Quiche with soup on the side. Her sons opted for vegetarian dishes with the Fried Cauliflower Sandwich with Fries, and the Harvest Bowl, featuring seasonal greens and vegetables grown on site.
