I enjoy the food it is better than the chains restaurant and the flavor.it is not spicy food which is awesome for my family but i like the little zip to my food but the balance is good. They can be slow sometimes so don't expect to rush in and out. They can get super busy during peak hours because of the stadium across the street. First, the bottomless sangria was really good. Service was pretty quick with refilling but there were a couple times I had an empty glass for a little too long. I wish there was an option to have either white or red wine sangria but their standard is red wine and it was delicious. They also give out chips and salsa which were really good and they were very generous with refills. I ordered the pumpkin pancakes and while they were good I expected a bit more. Most pictures I saw on IG showed that they came with some sort of fruit but I guess that's not standard. So while they were really tasty it was a little sad that all you get is two pancakes during bottomless drinks. Even a garnish of fruit would have been helpful. This is the worse place I have ever ate at in DC. The food has no flavor and the cook was clearly off his game! The table, plates and even chairs were dirty! Food is absolutely delicious! The view is amazing since it's right by the water. The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake is stuffed with juicy succulent crabs and it tastes delicious with the puree. I haven't written a review in awhile, but I feel compelled to let management of Agua 301 know that you have the WORST tableside salsa that I have ever had at a Latin restaurant. Seriously the salsa that they bring out before your meal is so so terrible and resembles nothing close to what salsa should be. This is a shame because there's great maragareitas and okay tacos. But that first impression salsa really marred the experience for me. It tastes like cheap Italian marina sauce, which is a shock to the taste buds, in the worst way before the meal. If the purpose of this salsa is to set the bar really low before the rest of the meal comes out, that mission is working. It's the worst first impression that they could make. My partner and I have eaten at this restaurant a few times over the past few months, and every time we walk by we both feel compelled to tell each other how bad their salsa is. To start our waiter was amazing and very tentative to our every need. He made sure the mimosas were filled and water glasses were full. The kitchen staff was very nice they made sure our food was good and we had condiments. We had the Barbacoa Tacos, steak and eggs, and the Hamburgesa! All dishes I would get again. Came here with my husband for a casual date night. The views from the restaurant are stunning and it has a fun atmosphere that lets you enjoy the food in a clean & cute vibe. The food itself was great, I enjoyed the chicken fajitas more than the steak but I'm also particular about steak. The beans were surprisingly great as well. I wish there were a few more tortillas since we were sharing but they did give the normal portion so no complaints there. Let me just start by saying.... I AM IN LOVE! This is the perfect place to go for have dinner and drinks by the water. Especially, at night. The ambiance down here at night is phenomenal. We went on a Friday so it was live music just around the corner from the restaurant. The minute we walked in we got seated outside immediately. Our waitress was amazing. I loved her energy. The drinks and food didn't take long at all. 5 mins for drinks after we put our orders in and then 5 for food. I was completely shocked. The frozen peach sangria is to die for! The guac was fresh and amazing. Now l didn't care for the chips too much they were hard. The chicken tinga tacos were delicious!!! If you go at night they have a late night happy hour from 9-close. It really doesn't get much better than being on the waterfront and indulging in Mexican food and drinks. We wanted to sit outside, but being a Friday with amazing weather, it was at least an hour wait to go out there, so we settled for the air conditioned interior. They have a decent happy hour... It's around the average for your typical DC happy hour, price-wise. $5 wines and $6 sangrias & margaritas. For me, the true value lies in their food deals which range from ~$5-$7. My favorite food deal is the Dos Tacos deals, where you can get two mushroom, chicken, beef, pork, or fish tacos for $5. You cannot mix them up though; both tacos have to be the same type. If you want to try something else, you need to order two other tacos. I tried their Malbec wine, sangria and margarita (yes, I wanted to try a bit of everything). They all were delicious, but the margarita has a surprisingly high amount of tequila, so that was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed the mushroom tacos (and I don't like mushrooms, so that's a good sign) and their chicken flautas, though I found them to be incredibly messy. The shell was hard to cut, but picking up and biting got my fingers really messy! The chicken inside was one long strip, so biting it made it occasionally come out of the shell and create even more of a mess... it was just a lot. The birthday boy got churros, and my GOODNESS those might have been the best churros I have ever had. Despite the heavy crowd, our server was around enough to take care of all of our needs. Oh, did I mention their chips and salsa? Per Mexican restaurant tradition, we constantly got refills of those throughout our time there. The chips aren't salty and the salsa was nice, thick, and spicy. It was definitely one of the better salsas I have had at a restaurant. Someone ordered guacamole and that was very good too! I would say that my biggest issue was the fact that there's only two unisex bathrooms (each with one stall). The line moved fairly quickly, but it was long the entire time that we were there. So if you have to use the bathroom, prepare to wait a while. read more

Brett made sure our glasses were always full, he made sure we were loaded we chips. Brett catered to us! I love Brett! We came during brunch and I had the unlimited mimosa/ sangria and the my boyfriend ordered the unlimited Bloody Mary/ margarita. What a spectacular little gem on the water! My now husband and I came together a few weeks ago just as we were about to get married and enjoyed wonderful service by Elizabeth and a great meal. The manager, Chris, also made our experience excellent that night. We came by again shortly after our wedding and Chris remembered us and congratulated us. We had another great dinner and we were well cared for by Salvador. Chris sent us tres leches cake and some bubbles to congratulate us. This place goes above and beyond. I visited this restaurant specifically for the pork belly tacos, but since they changed their recipe, got no option but to find a new place. Ordered from the happy hour menu, the plus is, that happy hour is also served in the patio. Nice selection of wines, and beers on tap. Food was not good. Carnitas tacos were dry, although they piled the pork, it didn't have much flavor. The chicken wings were dry as well, almost as if they were from the previous day, and they fried twice to reheat. Agua 301 in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood takes its name from the restaurant's location at 301 Water St. SE. This location has an L-shape which isn't unusual for DC. And within space there is a mix of browns, sand & taupe.brings together a soothing palette of sand, brown and taupe. There is a room in the back of the restaurant that is decorated with colorful tiles and other Mexican decor and this room is also available for private functions. Brunch was the reason for today's visit. Of course there's fresh-made guacamole to start but that is not all this modern Mexican eatery offers. Agua 301 offers bottomless sangria or mimosas for just an additional $15 or margaritas and bloody Marys for $19. Honestly, the sangria is a bit sweet but the other drinks are great. Plus who needs the added sugar anyways? The server will adorn your table with chips and salsa but opting for the guacamole is a great idea. The brunch menu definitely has a "Mexican" twist on it and will not disappoint. This is not your favorite vegan's brunch at all. Chorizo is a star in most of the dishes but pork confit and even a flat iron steak make their way to the menu as well. And for those that are looking for some staples from the traditional American breakfast, Agua 301 also serves up pumpkin pancakes and french toast. Sides at Agua 301 include, yucca fritta, bacon, hash browns and even fresh fruit for the healthier individuals. Agua 301 overlooks the Anacostia river and incorporates elements of water into their menu, with a modern Mexican flair. The speakers will serenade you with the sounds of Reggaeton -- a form of dance music that originated in Puerto Rico. Even if the restaurant is not full, the music will provide you with a festive vibe that will make you want to dance. While all of our items weren't a complete knockout, Agua 301 has the potential for greatness. But for solid Mexican fare and bottomless beverages in a fun setting, this is the place. This a great spot for groups or a brunch date. There is paid parking lot in close proximity and if you want to get your steps in there is ample street parking (free on Sundays). My boyfriend and I decided to try Agua301 for the first time on Tuesday, April 23. Initially, the service was great! The waiter quickly brought our drinks and food. My boyfriend ordered nachos with beef, lettuce, jalapeños, and cheese and a side of wings. When my boyfriend was halfway through his nachos, he started to inspect something that he thought looked funny, and asked me to take a look. We both agreed that the item (pictured and circled in pink), looked like a hair, possibly facial hair. This item was brought to the attention of the waiter, who told us he didn't think it looked like hair, but would show it to his manager. In about 7 minutes, he returned to our table to let us know that the manager said, "he doesn't think it's hair. It's part of the beef". I examined the item again, pulled it off of the nacho and placed it on the fork to isolate it from the other food particles. Indeed, my boyfriend and I still agreed that it looked like hair, so the waiter said he'd get his manager to come to speak with us. In about 15 minutes, the manager arrived at our table and said, "Hey! I think you guys wanted to speak to me?". I told him that I knew the waiter had already shown him the item and expressed our concern that it may be hair. The manager took a look at the item again, and said, "I don't think that's hair. It LOOKS like beef." I told him that there's no way that he can ensure that it's not hair unless he can guarantee that all cook and wait staff were wearing nets on their head AND facial hair. He claims that they were, and said he'd offer us a discount on the nachos. Another 15 minutes passed before we spotted our waiter and asked him for the check, which he handed to us. Due to the prolonged wait-time, my boyfriend had to add additional time to our parking meter. We saw that the manager honored his word and issued a 50% discount from the nachos. Overall, we're so displeased because this situation was COMPLETELY mishandled by management. Firstly, telling a customer "I don't THINK that's hair" when you can't prove it, is entirely inappropriate and invalidates our opinion and experience as guests in your restaurant. Secondly, ignoring our table and taking 30 minutes to resolve the issue was dismissive on the part of the wait staff as well as management. Lastly, offering us a discount was a passive-aggressive way to appease us, which backfired because his terrible service is has resulted in this terrible review. As patrons to the establishment we should have been provided with nothing less than amazing customer service, not ignored, unheard, and devalued. Needless to say, we left a tip for the waiter, but Agua301 will NEVER receive our patronization again. If you take a look at the pictures that I've attached, I'm sure you'll agree that the item circled looks a lot like facial hair. read more

Love this place- probably one of my favorite brunch spots in DC! Never had to wait long at all, service is great- staff are friendly and courteous. Bomb mArgaritas- a must try! First time I came here I had the chilequiles, delicious. Second time I got the frittata with smoked salmon and capers in it- pretty good. The Hamburguesa was amazing, huge portion and tastes great cooked medium. The salmon wasn't worth the price that they're selling it for. Bland seasoning on top of not being cooked to what I asked for. On top of that the lomo saltado was bland. I asked for no jalapeños and still got them in my entree. Servers should really start to read back the guests order even if there aren't any specifications. Not worth the trip over all sadly. I've eaten here 4 times and generally enjoy it. Cuban sandwich is my favorite, grilled like a panini. Comes with greens, fries, or fried yuca. I usually get the yuca, but it has tasted stale once. I did not enjoy the other more stereotypical latin foods as much. Chips and salsa are good. Iced tea is brewed. Lots of room on the patio or bar. Servers appear young and/or inexperienced, but they are friendly and provide sufficient service. Occasionally they seem slower than I would expect for a not crowded lunch period. read more

I recommend this drink if you want something to refresh your night. It gets an A. We ordered the traditional guacamole and Mushroom Huarache for the appetizers. The Mushroom flatbread was delicious. I loved the flatbread they used which was a soft yet crunchy corn type consistency. The mushrooms were tasty and corn and cheese added a good texture. It gets an A. The guacamole was not the best we have had. It lacked salt, acidity and zest. It was very bland and tasteless. The waiter said their guacamole is really good and theyre known for it. Well, guess not. It gets a C. For the entrees we ordered the chicken enchiladas and vegetarian enchiladas. I liked my enchiladas, in terms of flavor of the chicken, it was good! But they did not feel authentically mexican. The cheese was so sparse and there wasnt any of that red delicious enchilada sauce that was usually put. It was actually dry. It had some white drizzle on it, not sure if it was crema or sour cream. The beans and rice were so skimpy and inadequate. The black beans were pastey and they spread a thin layer of beans on the plate that you finish in 2 spoonfuls, and barely enough rice. I understand your rent is high but come on! Be generous at least. This says alot about the restaurant. I give this dish a B-. My husband asked the waiter to put cheese in his enchiladas along with the veggies. The enchiladas came out with the cheese ontop of them and not inside. The juice from the veggies made his enchilada so soggy. He also noticed how skimpy the beans and rice were. The beans were pureed and it felt like you are eating some kind of pudding. He did not really enjoy his dish and preferred the cheese be inside of the enchilada so it can keep the veggies molded togetger well and less soggy. For dessert we got the Tres Leches which was probably the best part of the meal. It was moist and the sweetness was not overwhelming. It came topped with strawberries and a chocolate drizzle along with some whipped cream. It was really delicious. I give a B+. Overall I think our entire experience deserved 3 stars. The restaurant did well with drinks and desserts. It should work on portions and quality of food. Also to make some dishes more authentic. The food, drinks and service was hands down! Jamier was attentive and stayed on top of his service game. Mona the manager is awesome. I went to Agua this weekend after a walk in Yards Park. This was only my second time eating out since March of 2020- the beginning of the pandemic. Food was great- as usual. There were a few hiccups with the service but our server apologized and made up for it. When we first got there - there was no one out on the patio. Eventually- it began to fill up more and it was abundantly clear that the tables were not six feet apart at all, especially when someone sat down. A party actually came and left because the tables were not far enough apart. The restaurant could definitely do a better job of following CDC guidelines. Please put the tables six feet a part for safety. read more

The Queso is average, it's very thick almost too thick for my liking. The queso also came after our meal which was less than ideal. The service can be slow.
