First time here. We came in for my birthday and it was mentioned as we were seated. It's a basic little place Formica tables and basic chairs - no particular decor that was memorable. My first impression was pretty blah, but we were in a time crunch and our first stop did not have sushi which was important to one of our party. But, that's where things changed! Our server was very sweet and attentive. She took our orders accurately, and the variety of dishes we ordered came out very timely with assistance from another. Good teamwork. The quality of the food was really very good with basic plating . The pricing was $$ which went with the decor. I always think to myself "quality, service and price - pick two!" These days you're lucky to get two! Ahan had all three! (I guess fourth would be decor and that was the only thing lacking) We enjoyed a variety of basic sushi and stirfry dishes and even a couple little fellows in our party were smiling and enjoying their meals. I wish I had taken pictures, but we were in a hurry to go to Catty Shack - only 10 minutes away. This isn't a place I would dress up to go to on a first date. This is a place that I would go to to enjoy a satisfying meal with good service without breaking the bank. I was a little bit disappointed my birthday didn't inspire a little tiny birthday dessert like most places would surprise you with at the end, but OK lol. The restaurant owner is budget conscious too I guess lol. No extras like flowers on the table for birthday dessert ;) That would've been a nice touch but I will take quality price & service anytime over a free dessert! Something else that really stood out was the other patrons were there getting served promptly and enjoying their meals from the looks on their faces. We have eaten here before; it's small with attentive service. The food is good but be careful with the heat. I ordered my chicken pad Thai 2 out 5 and it was spicy hot! It may have just been the cook that night but my nose was running as well as my eyes...lol! My husband ordered the seafood pad Thai at a 1 and he really enjoyed it. Service and decor were both very nice and appropriate for a restaurant like this. Food was bland and missed the usual WOW flavors and spices you would expect from Thai food. I am not talking about the heat factor of the dishes and particularly the Penang Curry and the peanut based dipping sauce for the Fresh Spring Rolls. This was my first time at this restaurant even though I've lived here for years. Easily one of my most favorite restaurants in the area now! It's really hard to find brewed Thai tea in Jacksonville; too many places use a powder mix. The vegetable pad Thai was quite sweet, but very enjoyable. Husband and I love coming here. I recommend lunch time as it's not so busy. But the last few times we went for dinner, we waited soooooo long. We are seated immediately but waiting for water and waiting to order and waiting for food then waiting for the check. It takes a very very long time. The food is great, my toddler loves the rice soup, and we overall enjoy that it's clean, server is nice, and food it yummy. But if you have a toddler that can't sit long at a restaurant, I wouldn't come during dinner. You'll regret that. Thankfully my kid sits great but it can be stressful to wait that long with a kid. read more

We were craving asian cuisine, but not the "run of the mill" takeout Chinese that's routinely available on Amelia Island. Having driven by Ahan a multitude of times, we decided to"what the heck" ... let's go for Thai. Having lived just outside of Philadelphia, I know great Thai cuisine, so I was prepared for a somewhat mediocre dining experience. I was very wrong; the food at Ahan Thai is the "real deal"! We started with the steamed pork dumplings; they were very similar to a traditional Chinese shu mai, but with no shrimp, and served with a very Thai-ish dipping sauce thickened with dark soy sauce. Our mains were Penang curry with chicken, and drunken noodles (again with chicken). Beware-portion sizes here are best described as "humongous" :-) The Penang curry was lightly scented with peanuts, with a fantastic assortment of veggies and a really good portion of chicken. The jasmine rice was served out of a very cute heart shaped mold; a nice touch. The dish was served "American mild". The drunken noodles (again, a large portion) were served "American spicy" which was about a 1.5 on the traditional Thai 1-5 spice scale. I like a bit more bite than that, and the spice tray was brought to the table with a smile. The noods were perfectly cooked, and, again, a solid portion of veggies and chicken were on the plate. We both took at least half of our entree portions home and enjoyed them for dinner the next night. Total bill for an app, 2 entries, and a big glass of Thai iced tea was $48. This is one of my favorite restaurants near Fernandina Beach (off island on 200 just past Old Nassauville Rd). Great variety of Thai dishes - can order mild or spicy. The "American medium" gives all the flavor of Thai spices without being too hot. I have had and recommend the Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups, all the curries, Drunken Noodles, and the Cashew Nut. In this era of overpriced restaurants, their prices have remained very reasonable. read more

We had great service. My water was refilled 5 times and I'm so appreciative of that! I like the thai restaurant on the island better because I think they have bigger portions but the food here was good. The kids meal is so cute! Lots of fried rice, chicken nuggets, apple, and broccoli served in a cute container that sticks to the table so they wont spill it easily. Also comes with apple juice. The spring rolls were my least favorite because it tasted like the oil needed to be changed ( you get that hint of metal flavor). The pad thai here is better (not too saucy). I added broccoli. We were out and about, got hungry and asked where a good restaurant was in the area. We live in Jax but were hanging in Yulee. The salesperson raved about the Thai place down the street so we went there. You could easily miss this place since it's in a small plaza in Yulee, if you pass the Goodwill you missed it. It's small and seems like it's been in the area a while. It's clean and has a nice ambiance. The staff was professional and we liked the dishes the food was Served in. Yes, that makes a difference to me I ordered the pork curry with #2 spice and my friend ordered a chicken dish. Both our meals were good and the #2 out of 4 spicy was perfect for me. I believe you always get so much when eating Thai so of course we took some home. The only reason I gave it a 4 out of a 5 is because I compared it to my favorite Thai restaurant in Jacksonville. It was my first time here and it is a pretty solid choice if you are in the mood for Thai food. The decor is pretty and clean so it's great for a casual date night spot. Service can be slow though...it took forever for the food to arrive. They have lunch specials that include lunch portions of the main entree plus free soup or salad and a spring roll. I had the chicken pad thai which was not spicy at all and was a bit too wet for me. The Thai tea was really good. Overall a good lunch spot in this small town. read more
