I've visited Ahan Thai a couple of times and every time the meal is on point. Great flavors, adequately spiced to preference and always fresh! The service team is amazing and it's quaint in decor. A definite recommend!

Service is slow and hard to get the attention of people. The place is pretty and full of culture items. This time I got Ramen stir fry, I won't do that again, the vegetables were more raw than cooked, the green beans were waxy, broccoli cold, the flavor was okay. I won't get it again. The curry is always great. I just wanted to try something new.

Service and decor were both very nice and appropriate for a restaurant like this. Food was bland and missed the usual WOW flavors and spices you would expect from Thai food. I am not talking about the heat factor of the dishes and particularly the Penang Curry and the peanut based dipping sauce for the Fresh Spring Rolls. The first Thai restaurant I have been to and they did not have Som Tum (Papaya Salad) on the menu and that is main staple dish in Thailand.

This was my first time at this restaurant even though I've lived here for years. Easily one of my most favorite restaurants in the area now! It's really hard to find brewed Thai tea in Jacksonville; too many places use a powder mix. The vegetable pad Thai was quite sweet, but very enjoyable. My friends got Thai noodle soup and pad see-ew -- they both enjoyed their meals. The service was a little slow, but not awful. Bathrooms and restaurant were clean.

Ahan Thai is in a shopping strip across from Loews.

You'd pass right by this place in its nondescript shopping plaza -- like we did. But you'd be missing the best Thai in Fernandina, hands down. Great food.

We were craving asian cuisine, but not the "run of the mill" takeout Chinese that's routinely available on Amelia Island. Having driven by Ahan a multitude of times, we decided to"what the heck" ... let's go for Thai. Having lived just outside of Philadelphia, I know great Thai cuisine, so I was prepared for a somewhat mediocre dining experience. I was very wrong; the food at Ahan Thai is the "real deal"! We started with the steamed pork dumplings; they were very similar to a traditional Chinese shu mai, but with no shrimp, and served with a very Thai-ish dipping sauce thickened with dark soy sauce. Our mains were Penang curry with chicken, and drunken noodles (again with chicken). Beware-portion sizes here are best described as "humongous" :-) The Penang curry was lightly scented with peanuts, with a fantastic assortment of veggies and a really good portion of chicken. The jasmine rice was served out of a very cute heart shaped mold; a nice touch. The dish was served "American mild". The drunken noodles (again, a large portion) were served "American spicy" which was about a 1.5 on the traditional Thai 1-5 spice scale. I like a bit more bite than that, and the spice tray was brought to the table with a smile. The noods were perfectly cooked, and, again, a solid portion of veggies and chicken were on the plate. We both took at least half of our entree portions home and enjoyed them for dinner the next night. Total bill for an app, 2 entries, and a big glass of Thai iced tea was $48. Highly recommended for an affordable and authentic Thai meal in Nassau County, FL!

I was greeted by one of the owners with the enthusiasm and friendliness you don't see that often. After reviewing the menu I decided on the "Sophia" sandwich to go. The owner told me this would be the first time she was making it. After a short wait, I left with sandwich in hand. Upon getting home and opening the bag, I was greeted by an amazing aroma that advanced my enthusiasm for lunch. The first bite and subsequent bites were simply amazing. The blend of rich flavors and perfect texture made it one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. I definitely recommend this place and can't wait to return. A great addition to downtown Fernandina Beach.

I was particularly fond of the shrimp salad sandwich, which was incredibly flavorful and filling. I paired it with the broccoli salad, which was an instant favorite and added some nice crunchy texture to the savory shrimp sandwich. Beware that the beer and wine can be quite expensive here, which the employee actually warned me about. I went next door to the wine/beer bottle shop to get a bottle of wine, which was much cheaper. Also, I would be remiss not to mention the wonderful pastries here. The macaroons are to die for, and they have wonderful ice cream and massively big cookies (the peanut butter cookie was my favorite). My only warning is that dining is seat yourself and the service can be a little slow, so if you're in a rush, just order to go, and sit in the rocking chairs near the pond in back. Overall we really enjoyed our two meals here and will definitely head back on our next visit to Amelia Island.

Tonight, my sister, my mother, and I were feeling another dinner at Salt Life was due, so we hopped in the car and drove the hour to get there, excited for the meal we were to be consuming soon. We walked in and was greeted by a girl at the register, telling us the host would be with us soon. So, while mom and my sister were checking out the aquarium, I stood there patiently waiting for the host/ess. A gentleman walked in behind me and was immediately greeted by the hostess asking him how many were in his party (he was alone at this point), I turned to the girl at the register and said, "excuse me, she never even acknowledged me". She turned to the hostess and said "they were here waiting". The hostess turned back to her 2 other friends? Work peers? And then led the 3 of us on a tour of the whole dining room area before seating us at a table she could have skipped 45 steps getting to, but whatever. She said "someone will be over to help you". And that was it. The people next to us were getting served, drinks topped off, etc., and the table on the other side as well. (Different waitresses). The table behind us, a party of 6 maybe...getting service. And there we sat. For 10 minutes...nothing. We had put our menus down within 4 minutes of sitting (we come here enough to know what we want) to signal we were ready to order. Nothing. I told my sister this is the payback for speaking up. I told her I'd give them 5 more minutes to at least take a drink order, or we'd be leaving. We waited. Nothing. So we left! How disappointing. We were really looking forward to dinner here, and left with stomachs empty. Now we are on the quest to find the next best place to become regulars at in Fernandina Beach. I can't say anything bad about the food, it's what kept us coming back, but the service we experienced tonight will keep us from coming back. Such a shame!
