Painful injections, glossing over symptoms, ignoring concerns, blanket diagnoses - I got sick of it. When I lost insurance in my early 20's and could no longer afford it, I spent a lot of time refusing to go to doctors not just because of the cost, but because of the way I was treated. I recently started dating a nurse, and when he found out I hadn't seen a doctor in almost ten years and was exhibiting some pretty crappy symptoms of anemia and a few other things, he insisted I get it over with and book an appointment. I have good insurance now, and there really isn't any excuse. I finally bucked up and went poking around, and after a few places that told me it would be a month or more before an appointment, I found Chicagoland Complete Healthcare. I was greeted by some of the gentlest office staff who were efficient but certainly not rude whatsoever. I got my initial paperwork done and I cringed, waiting for the judgment and the comments. My anxiety was ready to be treated poorly all over again, but I received nothing of the sort. I was into the office quickly and was seen by Dr. Tyson Stock within minutes, who sat down with me and actually spent the time to understand my concerns, my history, my symptoms, and listened to my fears. We discussed what to update on my records, the tests I needed done, my worries about insurance and a host of other things. He was amazing. I had a test done I didn't want to do but knew I needed to and was shaking horribly (trust me, I felt like an idiot). He made sure to tell me exactly what he was doing, when he was doing it, and there were no surprises. He was kind, caring, and got things done the way a doctor should. I trust him implicitly with my health and while the tests scare me, the doctor's office doesn't. Recommend this place 100%. Dr. Stock is a gem and truly wants to take care of you. Some of my medications need to be taken daily, yet Dr. Patricio shows no sense of urgency when sending refills to the pharmacy. A couple of months ago, she was 6 days late sending a prescription to the pharmacy--that was 6 days that I didn't have important medication that I take daily. Numerous people that arrived after me were taking in first, and I'm not sure why -- maybe it was a triaging thing. This is a great place to get your immediate/urgent care done, but note that it's not really immediate. If you can find a way to kill the time, you won't be disappointed. I am a busy professional in the service industry, so naturally I have high expectations from professionals I choose. I say can with certainty that Dr. Hidaka's approach is unlike any other physician I've encountered. I feel as if he's an old friend who just happens to be a respected and accomplished physician. His care extends beyond "office hours." He frequently checks in with me on past issues, treatment progress, etc. Also, a much-appreciated bonus is that Dr. Hidaka is quick to respond and help even when I'm unable for an office-visits (travel, busy season, etc.). He is really setting the tone for modern health care the way it should be in our busy society.

There was no consultation, no exam, and I did not see or speak with any doctor at that location. Despite this, a "doctor's visit" was billed at nearly $700. After insurance, I was still charged $321 out of pocket for a visit that never happened. I had to call several times and got only impolite responses saying that the bill was correct, although I was charged for a visit which never happened. Fortunately my primary care doctor, who is based at a different Northwestern location, helped escalate the issue, and their office manager was able to get the charge corrected. I appreciate their help in resolving it. However, the incorrect charge originated from the Immediate Care location itself, which is very concerning. Patients should not be billed for services they did not receive. Because of this experience, I would not return to this location and would not recommend it to others. This is not my first experience with Northwestern Medicine facilities charging for services I did not receive or billing twice for the same service.
