    Cheeseburger

I came back and ordered a cheeseburger and a pineapple shake. Food was done within 5 minutes, and there is some seating outside the restaurant. Cheeseburger: It was pretty good, there wasn't anything that stood out to me as particularly unique, but it was solid. It's a fairly small burger and did not come with sides, however, so it may not be filling enough to be a whole meal. Pineapple shake: It had strong dairy flavor with tiny pineapple bits in it. It was not as pineapple-flavored as I had expected, but if you're a dairy lover and like stuff like yogurt or ice cream, you will probably enjoy it.

Living in the area for nearly a decade this is a burger spot staple i've seen while driving/walking along Grand Avenue, but I never stopped in. A few weeks ago I decided to stop by and try the pastrami burger. I had a hankering for fries too. As much as I love fries, those weren't as memorable as the pastrami, nor should they be. I love nice cut pastrami without loads of fat on the edges and in between the meat. It's a nice sized sandwich, and it was a reason I didn't get a burger. The sandwich met my expectations. I'd come here again in an instant.

    Fly on lettuce

Food safety is huge for me and this place seems to have questionable food safety practices. Ordered a basic cheeseburger and found a dead, slightly squished fly on my lettuce that seems to have been there for quite some time already. It is also now outdoor seating only which alarms me even more because I'm not able to see what goes on inside. Yelp's health score showed a conditional passes both in 2021 and 2022 with a bunch of health violations. Aside from the fly, the burger was decently stuffed and had good flavor. Pricey, but forgivable for Lake Merritt area. Outdoor tables are dirty and appear unmaintained since I didn't see any staff walk outside. I'm not sure if the tables belong to Ahn's specifically. Overall, Ahn's has a lot of good things going on, but will need to step up their food safety game for me to be a repeat customer.

This place has been around for a long time and I have never tried them. It's a simple burger joint with a few outside tables and a small parking lot. It's only take out, no indoor dining. I had arrived early, no crowds to beat, pulled up and parked upfront. Placed my order at the window, one big burger, fried and medium Diet Coke. There was a couple of orders ahead of me. Waiting in the cold, it felt forever for my food to be ready. After a phone order pick up, a bell rang, my order was ready. It came in separate bags, one for the burger and the other, the fries with the katsups and salt packages; and of course my drink. Drove to a nearby park to eat. The food remain hit. The burger fully dressed had a heavy mustard and onion taste which was fine. The fries were plenty with the crinkle cuts. Overall, a decent visit.

Since moving to the neighborhood earlier this year, I have walked past TrueBurger quite a few times on my way to/from the 19th Street BART Station, and I was excited to give it a try. I was initially thinking I would get a burger, but my friend had to postpone getting together until the mid-afternoon, so I ate lunch at home and opted for a milkshake when we met a couple hours later. I had seen a special coconut shake on the menu on the TrueBurger website; I'm a big fan of most things coconut, and especially ice cream. I was eager to taste the shake...and my excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I realized it was just a vanilla shake with shredded coconut. Why is TrueBurger trying to pass this off as a coconut shake? It's far less novel, but it's perfectly acceptable to only offer vanilla and chocolate shakes. The mix-ins actually put them one step ahead of much of the competition, but misleading customers is never okay. To add insult to injury, I have tried reaching out to TrueBurger via email, and management is incredibly unresponsive. They could have easily fixed this by offering me a refund or asking me to come back in for a shake on the house. Do better, TrueBurger.

The manager was pulled over too and they looked pretty bewildered, so this seems to be a one-off experience. It wasn't until the last few bites that I saw a jalapeño and tasted a little spicy sauce. It would have been nice to have it more uniform throughout the sandwich but it did give me a chance to taste what both the original and spicy sandwiches would taste like. I'll definitely be back and order this again. Thanks Jollibee!

OMG. This is definitely one of those hole-in-the-wall places that completely surprises you…read more We came here because our friend Warren recommended it, and now I understand why. It's tucked away in Oakland in a spot you might easily drive past without noticing. The setup is simple: order at the window, get a vibrating pager, then pick up your food when it's ready. They also have outdoor seating, which is perfect if you're bringing your dog along. They offer all kinds of silog meals, and honestly, before coming here, I thought all silog places were pretty much the same. While standing in line, I had no clue what to order. The special that day was the G Fire Short Ribs, and I kept going back and forth between trying something new or playing it safe. I ended up getting the pork tocino silog, and for the second dish, I almost ordered the spare short ribs. Thank God I got the G Fire Wings instead. OMG. OMG. OMG. These are hands down the BEST wings I've had in the Bay Area. The skin is crispy and crunchy, but the moment you bite in, the meat is unbelievably juicy. Seriously, when do you ever get wings that are actually juicy? Most wings are dry. Not these. The flavor, the sauce, the seasoning--everything is absolutely incredible. It's the kind of food that makes you lick every finger afterward. If it were socially acceptable to eat the bones too, I probably would have. And here's the funny thing: while I was in line, it seemed like everyone ordering was getting the G Fire Wings. Now I know why. If this place were closer to where I live, I'd be here all the time. I'm still thinking about those wings days later. The good news is we go to Oakland at least once a month for hiking and camping, and now Lucky Three Seven is officially part of the tradition. It'll either be our reward after finishing a hike or our stop before heading to camp. Thank you, Warren, for recommending this place. You absolutely nailed it. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5 (simple, casual, outdoor pet-friendly seating) Parking: Street parking; may take a little patience depending on the time of day.

Anyway, I know why other cultures only have had lumpia when asked if they tried Filipino food lol that is mostly what this spot sells, and wings. The cashier is not friendly, just a straight shooter. And you're yelling into a glass which makes it seem hood, but I didn't feel unsafe and I had my toddler with us. They charge per wing and extra for dipping sauces. It seems like they sell out quick too cause one customer left without any and it was only mid afternoon. We ordered the longsilog and coconut adobo. I will say that it was a lot of food for the price which always a bonus. The flavor was also fire! I love the mural of their beloved owner across the street, RIP. Definitely worth a try, but to those who only try lumpia and consider it Filipino food, please venture out and try one of their breakfast plates (silogs) and then try one of the other main dishes. You won't be disappointed!

My nephew had asked for some spicy chicken, to have a little kick to it. But he said that the "Spicy" level chicken "felt like a kick to the groin". The medium chicken was also tasty, and I preferred it over the spicy one. These were a bit smaller, like the width of two nickels side by side. What really struck me as off were the fries themselves. They were salty, and they had sliced pickles and a dash of cheese and sauce--but they were practically naked. What the hell were they doing back there? Is it that hard to sprinkle more than a pinch of cheese, more than a drop of sauce? For the meal, $21 was expensive, and seemingly not worth it. Three stars.
