Classic burger spot, you order at the window. Few seats to eat outdoors. Got two cheeseburgers chili cheese fries order of onion rings with tip for about 39$ went for lunch and only took about 15minutes to get my food. The portions were actually big for what I got. I personally really loved the crunch on the onion rings and how big and how much we got. The cheese burger was nothing crazy but it was good it reminded me of a burger you get at a family bbq. I'd pass on the chili fries it was definitely missing something. I definitely will come back to try other menu items. read more

This is one of the few dining places in this area with a parking lot. It's easy to miss because of the deep lot, but it's nice to have parking to order a quick bite to eat. Came here for the first time and parked my car and ordered at the to-go window. There is no seating indoors (although it seems like the could fit a few tables inside). There are a couple of picnic tables outside out front as well. I ordered the veggie burger and the cheeseburger and a side of fries. The fries stayed crispy during the 20-minute drive back, which was surprising. The fries have the fry seasoning, which we really like. The food was done in under 10 minutes and we really enjoyed our food. The veggie burger had a lot of flavor and looked like it had some type of grain, mushrooms, and other veggies that weren't overpowering. I don't think I saw beans in the patty. My partner really enjoyed his cheeseburger as well. The place is a mom and pop place owned by folks who know how to make a great burger! We would definitely return. Food was indeed great. Sadly we are outside with all the street music, it was very loud. Too bad we couldn't eat inside the spot, it looked like they had room but the doors were locked up. I came back and ordered a cheeseburger and a pineapple shake. Food was done within 5 minutes, and there is some seating outside the restaurant. Cheeseburger: It was pretty good, there wasn't anything that stood out to me as particularly unique, but it was solid. It's a fairly small burger and did not come with sides, however, so it may not be filling enough to be a whole meal. Pineapple shake: It had strong dairy flavor with tiny pineapple bits in it. Read the reviews and how it's a legendary spot so I had to go. When I got there, restaurant looked a bit out of date but did feel nostalgic. Always a great stop for a quick burger. Their burgers are freshly made and come put to perfection. We get the double with cheese and split it. The crinkle fries are also good. Not too salty and need ketchup to give them flavor. Serve is quick and they ring the bell when your order is ready. This time they have tables and chairs to sit about and eat your meal. This was a first. Usually we just eat in our car, as we are on the go when we stop here. The area is a bit sketchy. The parking lot was almost full with non customers. They were just in their cars on their phones. Right outside the lot is the park and people are always having out listing to there tunes. Living in the area for nearly a decade this is a burger spot staple i've seen while driving/walking along Grand Avenue, but I never stopped in. A few weeks ago I decided to stop by and try the pastrami burger. I had a hankering for fries too. As much as I love fries, those weren't as memorable as the pastrami, nor should they be. I love nice cut pastrami without loads of fat on the edges and in between the meat. It's a nice sized sandwich, and it was a reason I didn't get a burger. The sandwich met my expectations. Food safety is huge for me and this place seems to have questionable food safety practices. Ordered a basic cheeseburger and found a dead, slightly squished fly on my lettuce that seems to have been there for quite some time already. It is also now outdoor seating only which alarms me even more because I'm not able to see what goes on inside. Yelp's health score showed a conditional passes both in 2021 and 2022 with a bunch of health violations. Aside from the fly, the burger was decently stuffed and had good flavor. Pricey, but forgivable for Lake Merritt area. Outdoor tables are dirty and appear unmaintained since I didn't see any staff walk outside. I'm not sure if the tables belong to Ahn's specifically. Overall, Ahn's has a lot of good things going on, but will need to step up their food safety game for me to be a repeat customer. read more

This place has been around for a long time and I have never tried them. It's a simple burger joint with a few outside tables and a small parking lot. It's only take out, no indoor dining. I had arrived early, no crowds to beat, pulled up and parked upfront. Placed my order at the window, one big burger, fried and medium Diet Coke. There was a couple of orders ahead of me. Waiting in the cold, it felt forever for my food to be ready. After a phone order pick up, a bell rang, my order was ready. It came in separate bags, one for the burger and the other, the fries with the katsups and salt packages; and of course my drink. Drove to a nearby park to eat. The food remain hit. The burger fully dressed had a heavy mustard and onion taste which was fine. The fries were plenty with the crinkle cuts. Overall, a decent visit. read more

This is more of the people's burger, while TruBurger is more on the gourmet/designer side. Crinkly cut fries were great. Their brand of ketchup was just okay. Ahn's has been around a long time and I absolutely understand why. The food is delicious. I honestly eat here more often than I care to admit. I usually get a Bacon Cheddar Burger with grilled onions, a small fry and a Neapolitan shake. I spend approximately $13 for all of that. The food is made to order so there is a wait, but the wait is usually 7-10 minutes depending on how busy it is. The staff is usually very pleasant. I've never had a bad experience. And I love that they're open late where many other restaurants are closing early due to Covid. All in all, really good burgers. Fries are always crisp and delicious and I don't know what they put in those shakes, but I've tried a few different flavors and they have yet to let me down. Order at the window or call it in. (I'm a big fan of their chocolate shakes, but they have a variety of flavors to cater to your preferences). Ahn's Quarter Pound Burger has been hiding in plain sight: everyone knows where it is and what it looks like, but it takes forever for people to finally "discover" it. With its retro sign and no-frills setup, this place focuses all its effort on making what may be the best simple burger in the East Bay. And certainly the absolute best bang for your buck. Most reviews on Yelp rave about the cheeseburger, which apparently makes everyone feel like they've died and gone to burger heaven. But let me tell you about the good old Big Burger. It's the cheeseburger minus the cheese. This is how I like my burger when I'm trying it for the first time; it tells me if the primary ingredients (patty, toppings, bun) are solid on their own and are not being carried by the cheese. The Big Burger delivers on all three. I can only imagine how bomb it would be with cheese (that's for next time). It's an excellent basic burger (no crazy fancy ingredients), which is what I prefer when it comes to burgers. As has been noted, the patty is on the flatter side. I was worried I would be disappointed with the patty-to-bun ratio, but I was not. The toppings (iceberg lettuce, slice of tomato, sliced raw red onions, mustard, ketchup) were stacked on top to give it heft, and while I could see adding another patty would be great, too, I didn't find it necessary. I love lots of veggies on my burger because I like the contrast of cool, crisp veg and hot beefy patty, as well as the varied textures ... or it could just be that it makes me feel less guilty about eating a burger. (It's kind of like a salad on top, right?) Oh, and the bun! Slightly toasted along the outer edge so that some bites have a tasty, crispy accent. Once I got started, I was like the character Kirby, inhaling the rest. (Hence, no photos.) One thing to note: Ahn's Big Burger is best eaten on site or a short while later; it doesn't travel well, as the fluffy bun gets pretty soggy. TLDR; eat the Big Burger (or anything else) at Ahn's Quarter Pound Burger. I just had one and am already craving another. read more

Their veggie burger is the best I've had in Oakland and the prices are very fair! My kids dental office is practical next door. And staring at the signage today, I remembered a conversation with a soccer parent... She grew was born and raised in Oakland. She said that this place was the best burger joint in town. That she'd walk over after school and get herself a burger, fries, and a shake. Do you see how happy my kid is in that picture?!?! I've ordered Chicken Strips and fries at other restaurants! And hands down, this is the biggest portion for the price. I was thinking I was getting have the size of the container... The chicken strips were crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The fries were really crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Everything came super hot straight out of the fryer!
