It came with fries on the side (or an upcharge for garlic fries, cheese fries, bacon, salad, etc.), which were pretty standard in quality and taste, nothing special but not bad. The shake was thick, in fact I had to wait for it to melt a little before I could even drink it. And they made me the wrong milkshake. It was chocolate and banana flavored. My boyfriend has been trying to find the best spicy chicken sandwich spot to replace Hot Bird (originally in sf but moved to Oakland and closed) and heart great reviews about this place. We ordered a hyphy chicken sandwich and the original good burger (single patty). Even though it was busy, food came out fast so that's always a plus! We both preferred the good burger more than the hyphy chicken sandwich and regret not getting a double patty. The meat was so well seasoned that it was such a classic burger. If they didn't use 2 chicken thigh cutlets to make the chicken sandwich, we might've enjoyed this more. The hypyh chicken sandwich was so saucey that it masked the chicken thigh and made it soggy. And there was too much chicken in my opinion (two patties as opposed to one). My partner thought the same thing with his burger not having much flavor either. However, the garlic in his garlic cheese fries were overpowering and was very garlicky. I think the portions are generous, which might make a lot of people might like this place. But when it comes to the nuance of the flavors of the sauces, we've had better. We are not in a rush to come back here even though the staff is pretty nice. This could very well be a blue collar workers' institution. From the back, It looks like a dilapidated homeless shelter if you drive by it and just glance. Staff provide a comfortable chill experience and asking for recommendations are always on the table. The food was served quickly and the upgraded garlic fries were unique because of the way they were able to melt American cheese perfectly. The Mexicali is more spicy because of the peppers but it's also well balanced with the sauce having a slight tang taste to pair off with the spice and flavors from the meat. The salmon burger is my man goto as it's just of the chain for me a different amount of flavors packed into every bite. For salmon to be juicy in a patty for is not the usual from most places but they get it done the right way much appreciated! Last but not least had 2 lemonades the mango and the blueberry. Both were flavorful. Service was friendly and as the brought the food to us they made sure we were set with anything we needed before they left that's a plus in my books. I enjoyed my sandwich but I barely tasted any hot sauce so I do wish it packed more of a spicy punch as advertised. I also like that fries are served with the sandwich because it is pricey so you get more for your buck on that note. My partner didn't like his veggie burger too much.
