Hired these guys to replace a garbage disposal and they charged me $650 for the 20 minutes it took to replace it with a $95 disposal. I would give one star as I feel like I was duped but they are quick and did a good job but far overpriced. read more

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. I had Aiello come out to clean my furnace. After cleaning my furnace the tech Dave said he couldn't bring the CO levels into state requirements. So they red tagged my furnace because they said they couldn't get the parts to fix it because it was so old or turn the gas regulator valve for fear of breaking it Needless to say, I believed them and was quoted for a new furnace. Luckily, I received a second opinion. The company that showed up retested the furnace and said nothing was wrong with the CO levels and were with in state regulations. Also they said the part that Aiello couldn't get they had several of them. The gas regulator valve that the tech said he couldn't adjust was a dust cap. disgustingly high rates. I called aiello on a thursday morning. they came right out which I was very happy about. I had a leaking bathroom faucet that needed replacing. The techs were very good and followed all covid guidelines. my complaint is charging me 500.00 per hour. that is after knocking 200.00 off because I complained. it would have been 600.00 per hour. I dont mind paying reasonable prices for quality work. 250.00 per hour and I wouldnt complain. I dont like to be taken advantage of. when the job was complete they taped my tub surround back in place until the adhesive had time to dry. when I removed the tape in the morning it took the paint off the wall. when i called to complain scott the service manager said that it is my problem and they dont cover damage they do. its part of the job. STAY AWAY!!! I have been meaning to post this for a few months but never got around to it. If I could give this company a zero I would. They tried to screw me really bad. Back in the winter my furnace started short cycling. I had a service contract with Aiello. I called them and they came out immediately. The tech was so full of shit. He red tagged my furnace and said I had a cracked heat exchanger. He then ran carbon monoxide test and said the levels were high. Even though I had a service contract he hit me with a $90 bill and said I need a whole new furnace. 1 hour later a sales guy shows up. THE CLOSER! He quotes me $10,000 for a new system. He said he would knock a few dollars of for a "fill a crew discount" because he had some guys with nothing to do the next day. He never gave me a formal written quote. Just wrote everything down on paper. He tried some high pressure sales because he knew I had a family and a small kid in the house with no heat. I told him I would think about it. I went to home depot and bought like 5 electric heaters to keep my family warm. I then decided to get the opinion of some other HVAC guys. The first guy came out and noticed my filter was jammed up so he cleaned it out. Also blew some dust of the heat sensor I think. The furnace ran perfect after the five minute fix. So I paid Aiello a service contract and they never thought of those simple fixes? Unreal. The next day I called a third company and never told them about any of this. I just wanted a routine check up done. The tech was great. He went around the house and checked all the carbon monoxide levels on the vents. He went through the furnace and inspected everything. He even told me my heat exchanger looked good and had nice flames coming off of it. Carbon M levels were all in normal range. I recently had $4000 of work done on my 12 yo central air conditioner. Too expensive? Yes, but they did the initial install. They cleaned the condenser, added a UV light and changed the filter to an electro-static filter. After two months I wanted to check the filter to see how dirty it was (we have three dogs). No surprise that it was quite dirty. The air handler is in my attic, accessible only by a six foot ladder. While up there, I saw that the tech had left the old dirty paper filter and a box with what looked like new filter inserts. I saw no instructions on the box and the tech didn't speak to my wife after the installation regarding filter replacement procedures. I took a look at the new electrostatic filter holder and managed to get it loosened from the air handler. I unplugged the power to the filter, opened the filter cage and replaced the filter. I buttoned everything back up, climbed down, and went about my business. I ran a bunch of errands for 2+ hours and when I came home, the house was 80 degrees!! I immediately called Aiello and spoke to a receptionist. It was Saturday and they couldn't get anyone out until Monday at the earliest. I asked to escalate my service request because I just blew $4k on the unit. The receptionist was very polite and said she would try to have the tech call me. When the tech called, he basically told me that the unit probably blew a circuit or something because I didn't turn off the power to the AC (I never had to do that when changing paper filters). He blamed me and said it was my fault because I didn't read the instructions. I asked what instructions? "Did you look in the bottom of the box?" was his reply. I told him that no, I didn't - I saw no instructions. He said that it wasn't his problem that I didn't follow instructions. I told him that was complete BS and it set a poor example of customer service. The tech then proceed to tell me that it would probably cost me $600 to come out on a Saturday. But he wouldn't come out because I wasn't a "preferred" (meaning the client pay a monthly fee to have a tech on call at all times) client he wasn't obligated to do anything. I said I needed a tech out to my house today, I'd pay the $600 and would dispute the bill with his office later. At that point, as far as he was concerned, the conf=conversation was over. I called back Aiello and asked the receptionist to escalate my concerns to a manager or owner. She was doubtful but would try. Five minutes later I did receive a call from the HVAC manager. He repeated the same pitiful mantra that the tech laid on me and said it was not Aiello's fault that I was ignorant of the instructions. I feel that after the install, the tech should have brought down the instruction manual (that I was unaware of when I replaced the filter), handed it to my wife and said, "here you go, these are the instruction for the electrostatic filter assembly". He certainly didn't hesitate to take a credit card for the $2k balance. Simple customer service skills were sorely lacking with the tech, his manager and Aiello. I will say the receptionist was very polite and professional. Maybe she could educate the rest of the staff. read more

Very dissatisfied with my experience. Had Aiello do oil boiler cleaning last year (Nov 2016) and again this year (Nov 2017). This year service tech advised that rear refractory door was damaged and cost would be $ 1,064 for repair. Service tech this year (William) suggested that the door had been improperly attached and this likely caused the damage. After agreeing to have part ordered I changed my mind later that day and cancelled the order. A few days later I spoke with Steve (Serivce Dept Mgr?) and explained that because Aiello did the cleaning last year it was their employee (tech Jason L.) who last removed/attached the door. Steve offered to do the work for $ 750. I declined. My point is that last years tech made no comment or note on my invoice about any issue with the rear refractory door. I can only assume that any damage noticed on this years cleaning had to have occurred as the result of the work performed last year when re-attaching the door. I will be writing a letter to the higher ups in the company to explain my position on this issue. If I get satisfaction from this interaction I will gladly update my review to include what was done to change my opinion about this company. read more

They DO NOT make emergency visits for any reason according to their service line staff member yesterday. Front staff is very rude and suggested we wait over one week to get the furnace fixed and turned on despite it being November and freezing cold. I highly suggest finding someone else and i highly suggest aiello cancel all commercials airing that indicate they do make emergency visits. Editing my review to respond to the genius response i received about not waiting until its cold to service my furnace: thank you for your ignorant comment (you must work here) i just bought the house and didnt know the furnace didnt work until i turned it on. My central air compressor would start but wouldn't cool properly. It was on a Sunday in the middle of a heat wave and my wife has medical issues so AC is a must. I called their emergency service line. A tech called me back within an hour and said it would be $160 just to come out and look at it. I am a licensed electrician with years of experience and troubleshot the problem before he arrived and found a bad start capacitor. He called back to say he was on his was and I told him about the bad capacitor. He said "no problem I have them in the truck". Ok, great I thought its a low cost part, maybe $15 so even if I pay $60 its a deal to get the AC working. The tech arrived, a nice enough guy, agreed the capacitor was defective. He installed it, total service time less than 20 minutes. Now the service bill.... $560!!!! The capacitor was $359 alone!! He never told me it was $359. Ok, it was on a Sunday and a emergency service call but $359 for a $15 part is outright gouging!! That's a $344 profit!! He said its the price on his parts list and nothing he can do about it. If I didn't need the AC unit for my wife I would have told him to take it out and I'll pay him for the service call. $201. I went online, electrical/AC suppliers sell the exact same capacitor between $15 and $25 and as low as $5.95. I ordered a exact (same mfg name) spare capacitor for $5.95 + $5 shipping and had it in two days. Total cost: $10.95. How Aiello stays in business is a mystery based on the large number of price gouging complaints. It's a rip off company... save your money and call someone else. read more

Fast, courteous, competent - what more could you want? After 3 independent local plumbers "didn't have time" to assess my clogged kitchen drain that we couldn't snake open, I called Aiello. A plumber was at my house within 4 hours. (He actually arrived 20 minutes before the start of the 4-hour window they estimated) The job done in less than an hour, at the estimated cost, and everything was left clean and properly functioning. When they come into your home they tell you they don't charge by the hour, but by the job. I needed a sink that I bought installed. Believing their tv commercials is the first warning. I phoned to make an appointment to have a sink installed. I was quoted $69 for an in person estimate. I questioned the representative stating others don't charge to come out and offer an estimate. She put me on hold came back stating her manager was not available but she would waive the $69 fee. The rep came quoted $1300 (a discount) but did not waive the estimate cost. I explained what my conversation entailed and he denied that was not their policy. I paid. Refused the over-rated cost, found another plumber to complete the job for $200. I wrote to Aiello Management asking for my $69 back, explaining the scenario and received no reply. I would give no stars. Told me approximately $900.00 to tune up my furnace because it had been so long. Had leaking pipe near furnace quoted me approximately $4500.00 for furnace tune up and pipe repair total. I said no paid the $99.00 service fee for coming. Called another company. I had them come out to check a drain in my basement that was flooding. They came out checked my main line which was not clogged. I asked if he could check the drain the was flooding and snake that. He told me he did not have a snake that would fit the drain which had an opening of 6 inch diameter. Instead he offered a job of over $5000 for a sump pump put in. Since he was there I asked if he could replace a broken PVC pipe on the bottom of my basement sink which he did in the last 5 minute before leaving. He charged me over $337 for the 5 minute job with a $5 pvc pipe on top of the service fee just to come to my house to check the drain he never even looked at. I cleared the drain myself the next day with a wet vac. My final bill was over $400 dollars with a 15% discount because I was a monthly member to their company. It is a disgrace to be ripped off by a company in these current times. My experience with Aiello has bothered me for a while and I feel I should at least put it in writing for people to know. I contacted Aiello back in August I believe to install a kitchen faucet for my daughter. They scheduled a date and arrived on time. I dont know the actual conversation that transpired with my daughter regarding the cost because I wasnt there but in any event we went through with the installation. The bottom line is that the technician took approx. 45 minutes to install the faucet and I had to pay over $600. Its hard to fathom that any routine plumbing job could amount to $600/hour. I promptly called to voice my frustration and was given some speech about their extended hours of manning the phones, their anytime response and the fact they have to pay for this overhead. I have to say they did send me a $75 check as I guess a good will gesture but I still cannot believe what they charged for the time spent. Our tub was draining into the kitchen sink. We have a garbage disposal and thought that might be part of the issue. My husband took the guy from Aiello downstairs to show him where the shut off was and sewer drain was. He tapped on the pipe and said that was a clogged drain. that will be $525. My husband said that was not what was quoted.$69.00 diagnostic and Drain problem $93.00 or FREE if they can't fix it. It's on there website. SCAMMERS! Don't advertise something you can't fulfill. The guy called his boss and they said they couldn't do it for that. Get rid of your lazy people that don't even want to do the job. Needless to say my husband threw the guy out. The problem I had when I called was the hot water heater would work fine for a day and the next morning I would have to hit the reset button and it would work for the day again. Made appointment and they arrived and was informed about my problem. The tech went down and came up in a few minutes and said I needed a service. I agreed and he supposedly did a service. Came back up and said I needed a part. I told him ok and to install the part. The tech then came up and said the system was unsafe and he would have to shut if off. I needed a whole new system. That added up to $973. He quoted it would be between $5000 to $6000 to get hot water. This 'tech' came to a system that was running. If there were any diagnoses that needed to be done to a system that ran it should have been done before the bill got to just under $1000. Absolutely uncalled for I called and left a message and Nobody got back to me. I had to go to there place of business and talk to a manager. He AGREED that it was wrong and they did give me my money back. Now I would have let it go, but I had another license tech come out and check over my system. All it needed was a control board, and a good service that was supposed to have already been done. Which it was NOT. The other business replaced the control board and did the service. That job came to $800. And I have great heat and hot water now. That's why I'm writing this review, though I did get my money back for dishonest service. Aiello is good when it comes to original installations, since they often have good deals that they advertise. BUT, when it comes to repairs, they are VERY expensive. The repair technicians work from a book of coded procedures. Each one has a cost associated with it and they can pile up quickly. A few days ago they came out to service my air conditioner. It involved a big cleaning and a few parts inside the condenser (a capacitor and a switch). They charged me for the disassembly of the condenser and then when it came for the replacement of the capacitor and the switch, they were both billed as if the unit had to be disassembled each time. The replacement of an $85.00 capacitor was $350.00. In the end, the cleaning and the two small replacement parts came to $3,000.00. One top of this, I was told that the evaporator had a small leak and the cost to replace that was an additional $2,700! This for an A/C that they had installed 10 years ago for $7,200. So watch out! Their procedure codes pile up fast and you end up with a huge bill. read more

We had a service contract with Aiello on a relatively new boiler and hot water heater. They recently came out for the annual review. The service technician indicated that we needed a new pressure relief valve or our hot water heater might just explode. He changed out the part ($15 at Home Depot, but just in case that's not high quality call it $50) and the total bill, including the discount because we are a customer under contract, was well over $300. The labor cost on the repair were astronomical especially since the service tech was already at my house! The entire job couldn't take more than 30 minutes. WAY too expensive, cancelled my service agreement and sent them packing. I will use my local plumber. read more

Pete arrived promptly, professionally and investigated the leak. He took pictures of underneath the sink so I could follow what he was doing and he explained what needed to be done, covered what it would cost. I was agreeable and he fixed it. It is a scam; especially if you call them for emergency services. They quickly send a "technician", who takes a look, calls somebody, and says that a part should be changed for an astronomical price. Don't sign anything without double checking every word of the supposed explanations the 'technician' provide you with, and a detailed written and printed estimate. Otherwise, the 'technician' will not give you any invoice and when you ask for it, you'll receive an extremely poor invoice with only one cost, no part price, no labor cost, etc. Two experiences with these service, both were terrible. I hate plumbing, so when we bought a new bathroom sink and toilet I thought I'd treat myself to a professional installation. I was figuring $250-$300 for a few hours work. Called Aiello and they said they would send someone out the next day. They warned me that there was a $49 dollar fee if I did not have the work performed according to the estimate. The plumber arrived as promised and quoted me an estimate of $1200!! This price was after the "senior discount" and the "multiple fixture" discount! Needless to say, I gave him the $49 (maybe that is how they stay in business) and sent him on his way. I ended up doing the work myself for the cost of a wax ring ($4.00), but I feel bad for people that don't have an understanding of what the job involves and just pay their crazy prices. read more

We had a sewage backup in our basement this past weekend and called Aiello. Since we are new homeowners and didn't know any better we agreed to their $125 service call for them to come look at it. The representative was courteous, however that is about all I can say positively about our experience with Aiello. He told us we needed to snake the lateral sewage line to clear blockages, and quoted us $850. We had no idea what to expect but something about the price did not feel right. Luckily we decided to wait on the service and get additional quotes. After talking with fellow homeowners they mentioned that we should first call up our local water utility (FYI: turns out this should always be your first step as the utility will send out an emergency crew for no charge to make sure blockage isn't first in main line). After utility verified that main line was clear they provided an unbiased list of plumbing companies for us to check with. After calling up these plumbing services it became very clear that the quote by Aiello was completely absurd. I understand that service businesses can justifiably charge different amounts, and had it been within some reasonable range I may not even be writing this review, but the discrepancy here was a factor of 6! We got the lateral line snaked and cleared for $140 by another pluming company which by the way took them less than a half an hour of labor. That was nearly the same cost Aiello charged just for the service call. This type of price gouging is really offensive and after some brief searching I was not surprised to find numerous BBB and consumer protection complaints filed against Aiello. I used them for a new gas furnace and new central a/c compressor. They gave me a more efficient furnace for less than the other 3 contractors I received quotes from who were all more $ and wanted to give me a worse system. They arrived early and were there all day; at one point there were 5 guys. They did a great job. The sales rep Jesse was very helpful also and followed up to see how installation went. This also included a free energy audit; those guys came out a second day and did a great job explaining and fixing energy problems (led light bulbs, caulk around pipes, sealed leaky ducts). About a month later I needed a plumber for a separate emergency situation. I called at 11am and they had someone out there by 12:30. The plumber did a good job and explained the problem and solution. That job was a little pricy but try to negotiate some type of discount (senior, VA). Over all I had them come out 3 times in 5 weeks, all pleasant experiences and have already provided them 3 referrals. read more

I used aiello to do a simple main line sewer cleaning for tree roots. In the past it's been around $200. Aiello came out $598 but I had a coupon for $243. The tech who was nice went to work and advised me no roots line is clear to the street which is 75 ft. In the past other companies filled a 5 gal pail with tree root cuttings in pipe. The snake kept coming out clean which I was amazed. This tech said he would send another out out to do a camera inspection. This revealed lots of root growth and a blockage 37 feet out. Was advised problem can't be fixed and the main line would have to be replaced for $12k. I called another company in three hours later and they used a saw blade tip and cleared the line to the street. I called aiello they never returned a call and put a stop on charge card payment. Before you use aiello go to Home Depot and do it yourself even if you don't know what you are doing i am sure all the upsell they do to inflate the bill will catch up to them. So i decided to contact Aiello to get a quote on a whole house humidifier. I have received several other quotes and was narrowing down the bidders. When I called, i was told there was a $69 quote fee! I told them that i was no longer interested, and they spoke to a manager. I was then told the $69 fee would be waived if i went with their service! Now since i was quoting other companies as well, there was no guarantee i was going with them, and considering the job, as quote by others was only $400-$500, paying almost 20% for a quote fee is ridiculous. So i ended up not going through with the quote through Aiello. I have heard good things about them, but charging for quote for a project is just bad customer service. read more

Not honest people! My 88 year old father's air conditioning was not working. They told him he needed a new air conditioner and new venting which would also require asbestos removal. It was going to cost him nearly $20,000!! When I called the called the sales manager, he tried to convince me there were no other options. When I asked if the unit could be repaired instead of replaced, he told me we could get a new compressor for $3700 but he could not be sure if that would solve the problem. I urged my father to get a quote from another company, who sent their HVAC guy out the next day, opened the unit, and fixed it for $250. The plumber, who claimed to be one of Aiello's lead plumbers said that in order for he shower to work, all the old plumbing needed to be replaced to the tune of $2000. Another local company took one brief look after working on our furnace, and diagnosed the problem was a clogged shower head which I could simply replace. I did. It works perfectly well now and cost about $20, taking 5 minutes not including the trip to the local hardware store. Disheartening experience. I would advise a second opinion before contracting with this company. I will be getting a second opinion on the other costly repair quotes provided that day from Aiello. (west hartford) read more

Several more visits revealed shoddy workmanship (missing a part that was supposed to come with the system, A/C drain plumbing was stripped when installed so it was leaking, A/C couldn't keep up with the demand, and so on). This has been a horrible experience so please save yourself the trouble. Fortunately, Aiello did promise to purchase a parts and labor warranty for me so at least I will be protected over the next several years as this system continues to break. One positive, and it wouldn't be fair not to mention it, everyone I speak with continues to be polite, respectful, and I think legitimately trying to help. read more

Bought a replacement ac condenser unit from them 2 tears ago, this summer it sh*t the bed. Called them up since it had a 5 yr warranty, they said if it is bad and not user error the $70 visit fee will be waived.
