Clean market doesn't have that "meat market" stench however there isn't a lot of fresh meat options everything is pre frozen

I ended up stumbling upon C & H Meat and read their reviews and seen some pictures so I thought we'll give it a try. C & H Meat is inside Lake Chabot Public Market and there are a few restaurants in there as well. We looked around at what they had to offer and got what we wanted. They already have them prepackaged, so that was nice. I forgot what kind of meats we got but everything was just delicious! I'm glad that there is a place closer by in case we do last minute hot pot or kbbq. Will be back here again in the future.

Bulgogi and Chadol Baegi (thin sliced beef brisket - a staple at KBBQ restaurants) are excellent. I used to have to get the thin sliced beef eye round at 99 Ranch if I wanted to KBBQ at home. Brisket at C&H Meat is a 100x better in terms of flavor and quality for the same price compared to 99 Ranch - $12.99/lb. They have a pretty cool market section that includes craft beer and basic refrigerated/frozen korean goods on the left wall. There is also a small produce section to the left of the butcher counter - not the freshest produce I would say, but not bad if you need to grab something like soybean sprouts and don't want to make another stop. I'd recommend you come here earlier in the day as they do run out of meats towards closing time. Went about 1.5 hours before closing on a Saturday and they were practically cleared out on meats.

Hey I like some veggies and fruit and shrooms also but most of my diet is meat and seafood, as mama God intended it to be. It is awesome to have such a nice family owned butcher shop in town that is all about quality. I have purchased oysters, chicken, salmon, bacon and different cuts of meat over the years and all fresh and fantastic. They also have duck which I haven't purchased yet be cause I don't have my brothers insane duck recipe. That will change soon. The other items I buy are bones and oxtails for bone broth. In the freezer section are meaty oxtails, lamb and beef neck bones and sometimes knuckle bones. In the meat counter they have cut up leg bones. My number one place for bones. Store bought bone broth pales in compareson to my recipe and even though a takes a hot minute to make, it's worth it. The staff is great and very knowledgeable.

I got the Tom Yum broth, and asked for a side of white rice which is free. The broth was super tart and flavorful, like mama noodles which I love. There were ingredients that you'd typically see at hot pot spots like beef, lamb, spam, tofu for proteins, and spinach, cabbage, corn, etc. for veggies. Lots of noodle options, and the sauce bar, although small, I really enjoyed the sesame sauce, house chili, and the spicy garlic sauce. They even have perfectly medium-cooked fried eggs that I felt went well with the tom yum broth. We were conservative with our ingredients because we didn't want to accidentally have a $40 bowl of soup, but we were under the minimum so we had to add a few more to get it to 0.80 ounces. At that minimum, our bowls were a very reasonable $13. The only con is that it's a bit small inside so I can see it getting annoying on busy weekends especially as people crowd around to choose ingredients. Luckily on a weekday late lunch it was pretty dead. Other small con is water is served in small paper cups so we had to ask for refills often. Small gripe but with spicy soup, water is needed and in large quantities to offset some of the spiciness. Service was amazing, prompt and friendly. Overall, solid spot and glad we got to try it!

Basically, you walk in, grab a bowl, and pick out whatever meats, veggies, noodles, etc. you want. Then you bring it to the counter, they weigh it, and that's how they charge you. I've always been kind of hesitant to try one because I was scared I'd end up with a $20+ bowl by accident. I was excited to see that Master Gua Malatang & BBQ opened up near me, so I finally gave it a shot. They charge $14.99 per pound with a minimum of 0.80 lbs, which honestly isn't bad. I tried to be smart and picked mostly light stuff like spinach, sprouts, and tofu. I avoided heavier stuff like corn on the cob or beef balls. When I went to weigh it, my bowl came out to 0.65 lbs, so I went back and added a little more meat and veggies to hit 0.85. My total came out under $13, which is a great deal for how filling it was. I got the satay broth, which is beef, shrimp, and fish-based with a peanutty flavor. It wasn't fishy at all, which I appreciated. My partner got the tom yum broth and I thought it tasted just like Mama brand instant noodles, in a good way. You also get a side of white rice with your soup, but you have to ask for it. Meat options were beef, lamb, and pork belly. Only downside is that all the meats are kind of fatty. Also, they give you tiny paper water cups. If they're gonna do that, they really need to have a self-serve water station or just give people bigger cups so you don't have to keep asking for refills. The service was great though. The lady working was super friendly and helpful. If you're worried about the price, I recommend just filling your bowl with what you think you'll eat, weighing it, and then adding more if you need to meet the minimum. They also have a sauce bar so you can make your own dipping sauce, but it would be cool if they put out some suggested combos for people who don't know what to mix. Overall, I'll definitely be back. This place is perfect for a quick, comforting meal especially if you're nursing a hangover.

The short rib was also well-seasoned, and we couldn't get enough of it! 4/5 - Soft Tofu Soup - The soup was very tasty and not too spicy or salty! Unfortunately we thought the serving was a bit small relative to other locations we've had this same dish and relative to the other dishes for its price, so keep that in mind! 3.5/5 - Stir-Fried Shrimp - The shrimp was just as good as the vegetables served in the stir-fry sauce. The shrimp seemed a bit dry, but overall the dish was delicious! 4.5/5 - Kimchi Pancake - Large portioned kimchi pancake that is complemented well with their pancake sauce. Highly recommend getting this to share with a medium-large party as an appetizer!

I have driven past it countless times without stopping, but this place is truly a hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, it feels inviting: clean, bright, and well organized. They have everything from meats, seafood, cheeses, and pastas to sandwiches and specialty groceries. There is also free parking in the back (90 minutes), which makes the visit stress-free. On this visit, I picked up a little bit of everything: The Hot Salami Sandwich (see photo) was incredible. Piled high with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, oil, vinegar, and oregano. The oregano sealed the deal. It was one of the best sandwiches I have had in years. Cheese counter. They stock amazing selections such as Midnight Moon, Goat Gouda, and Prosciutto di Parma. I also grabbed a slice of Italian head cheese (photo). It was not quite as bold as the souse meat I grew up with, but it is delicious with crackers. Smoked Salmon. Sourced from Alaska, melt-in-your-mouth fresh and flavorful (photo included). You can tell they take seafood seriously. Mary's Organic Chicken Wings. The real MVP of my haul. I was thrilled to get two pounds of all flats (photo before and after cooking). I baked them at home, and they came out crispy, flavorful, and juicy. The aisles were stocked with pastas, sauces, and pantry goods, making it feel like a one-stop shop for both everyday items and specialty finds. Between the quality of the food, the thoughtful touches such as honoring my all-flats wing request, and the genuine neighborhood market vibe, Galvin's has officially earned a spot on my regular rotation. If you are in San Leandro and have not stopped by yet, do yourself a favor. Whether you are grabbing lunch, stocking up on meats and seafood, or exploring the cheese counter, Galvin's Market is worth the trip. Highly recommend!
