It's a lil hood spot for sure, a IYKYK type place for the Town locals. They've been in the same place for decades but they have changed ownership so some will tell you it's just not the same. I can't comment on any of that, cause I just had their ribs for the first time but my BF said this used to be the spot whenever they wanted BBQ. The ribs were super tender and hot, but drowning in bbq sauce. I rather have too much than not enough though, I just wiped off what I didn't want. The young lady behind the register who took the order was on point with great service and winning attitude which we dont see often at establishments in the town. Ordered a 3 way combo ribs, link and tri tip, with greens and Mac & cheese. The ribs were the size of riblets/baby back ribs (see photo). The tri tip was overcooked and both the links and tri tip were not properly cut, yes there is a way meat should be cut and the knife was dull. The Mac & cheese was a clump of cheese noodles but the greens were decent. Sauce was not spicy at all but maybe it was mild instead of medium. What they lack in flavor they make up in portion but if youre a quality over quantity person like myself, this is some bs. After I got thru all the links, they gave me more links thank anything and maybe 1/2lb of baby back ribs. The food was underwhelming. This is not the original owner or the ppl from 8yrs ago. Who gave them world champion has to mean they have a diverse team cause this is not the best bbq in town. I had a BBQ craving. Stumbled upon this place via Grub Hub, and they had a high rating so I gave it a try. In a word..... DELICIOUS!!!! I ordered the rib dinner with beans and Jojo potatoes ( no clue what jojo potatoes were). HUGE serving of ribs and not doused in sauce, like many places who cover their mediocre meat with wayyy too much sauce to cover up that fact. Last night I just didn't feel like cooking and I was able to taste the their food for the first time at a family gathering a few weeks ago. So I was sold. I order there fries fish and fried jumbo prawns with a side of fries and a side of macaroni and cheese. All of that came in just under $40. The amount of food they give is well worth the price. I had never been to this area even though it's blocks away from the Oakland Airport. I ended up ordering the tri tip and ribs combo and it came with two sides so I got the macaroni salad and potato salad. The sauce is what makes this BBQ stand out! The tri tip was amazing! Soft and easy to eat and oh so flavorful, I would definitely order this again. The ribs were a bit drier than I would have liked but still flavorful due to the BBQ sauce. They have their own private parking lot and food came out quickly but like most places, be aware of your surroundings and take any valuables with you. You order at the store counter and pick up at the deli. The tri tip was some of the best I've ever had! It was so tender and juicy with a healthy dose of bbq sauce. Food: Lacks consistency. Due to where I live and not wanting to drive I order via DoorDash. The things I order faithfully are the BBQ chicken without sauce (they send the sauce anyway so it's wasted because I don't care for their sauce). One time the BBQ chicken was so fresh, tender and moist I was in heaven. Next order it seemed to be days old. The last order was undercooked and made me sick in less than an hour of consumption. DoorDash had nerve to ask if I went to emergency. I asked if they would foot my $100 co-pay. The deli sandwich, I order turkey. Depending on how they feel you'll get chips and a soda or just chips or just a soda or just the sandwich. I'm confused if it's complimentary or suppose to be a meal. One time they gave me ham. I don't have anything against pork, I just prefer not to eat it. When I called they swore it was turkey ham as if I'm not intelligent enough to know the difference and I'd never asked for turkey ham nor is it a selection option in the app menu. Smh. The charbroiled chicken sandwich FIRE!! I mean screaming good. Comes with fries and MAYBE a soda. Again, the consistency is heavily lacking. The first couple orders the chicken breast was thick and juicy then suddenly the chicken breast became extra thin and overcooked due to how thin it was sliced. Sometimes the fries come undercooked. I've had to finish cooking them in the oven. When I ordered a four piece fish and chips, that was a joke and a half. It literally was like a small fish filet sliced into strips. NEVER ordered again. At one point, every order came with an issue I had to report to DoorDash resulting in some form of credit. They temporarily banned me from being able to order stating they were too far when they are just over two miles away according to GPS. I'm unsure if I want to order again after the undercooked chicken experience. I've been in person but few and far between due to location (heart of the ghetto East Oakland) It's a store/market that sells grocery items, BBQ, fried fish and sandwiches both cold and hot. Smokehouse is always good. It looks like a market or corner store on the outside but its worth a drive out of your way. The sweet smokey sauce, quality links and baked beans keep me coming back.
