Came here for date night with my husband and it DID NOT disappoint. It's been in my bookmark for so long and so happy to have finally tried it. This is definitely a hole in the wall type of restaurant tucked in Waikiki on the 2nd floor. Let me start off by saying the employees were all so amazing, caring & friendly. All very passionate about the restaurant establishment. Our server Will was so knowledgeable & wasn't trying to upsell us anything. Very genuine and friendly throughout our entire stay. Very very good hospitality!! We even had a chance to meet the owner, she was very sweet and gave us free cheesecake for our dessert! Steak & seafood? Like those are my two favorite combos! They had all different types of steak cuts & some dry aged ones as well. I'm very picky when it comes to steakhouses and getting quality meat. The steak also came with mash & salad. I loved how you didn't have to pay extra for that. We also got the seafood plate which had so much fresh seafood. The braised beef with mash was probably my favorite thing here. This place did not disappoint! Everything we ate was so delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is so cute for date night, family gatherings or even a girls night![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will be a return customer for sure. I can't wait to eat here again. I highly recommend.

Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. He explained everything and told us what they were out of. He always checked in to see how we was doing. Great service -1* [[HIGHLIGHT]]Only thing I didn't like was the smell of the sewer filling this fine dining restaurant up. My son was not happy about it walking in, I did ask our server why it smelt the way it did and he apologized, it was definitely a turn off but I noticed once they started finally cooking the smell slowly disappeared so that was very helpful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]But in all honesty coming to a restaurant and dropping six hundred it should not be smelling like that, it's not normal and something should be done about it because I went next door plenty of times to eat at CAMADO RAMEN TAVERN and never smelt that and their literally next door to each other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 4* The 3 of us enjoyed Ultimate Seafood Platter (Half) They we're out of King Crab so they gave more Snow Crab. Bone In Ribeye Half Lamb Rack Snow Crab Legs (Steamed with Butter on the side) Loaded Mash Plain Mash Steam Garlic Mussels Drinks

We've been to several steak houses in Honolulu and wanted to try somewhere new. Our server said they've been open for about one and a half years. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is on the second floor and depending on your table, you can look down to watch the hustle and bustle of cars and people on Lewers Street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As their Yelp page suggests, this is casual dining, not fancy, but the food and customer service is top notch![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend doesn't like a bloody steak so he ordered his well done. Our server confirmed, before placing the order just to be extra clear. Zero pink yet tender enough, according to Dion. He enjoyed the rosemary infused dipping salt with his steak. Don't let me forget the loaded mashed potatoes, delish!! I ordered the half lamb rack medium rare. Everything from taste, texture, to presentation was on point! My order was served so well assembled I couldn't help but take multiple pictures because the camera eats first LOL The lamb was super tender, it didn't take much effort to cut. And the flavor, Mmmmmmm! Didn't need the dipping salts but those were a nice touch. They had grated wasabi root, wasabi salt, yuzu salt, and rosemary salt. Those certainly took the lamb to another level of yumminess! On the Open Table reservation, I notated this dinner was for a birthday. Our server graciously brought the delicious cheesecake, complimentary with chocolate salutations :) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our evening was perfect because the food was great, the service was stellar, and their music playlist was so fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From Prince to Etta James, Luther, and Barry White we almost stayed longer just to listen and laugh while our tummies were full of happiness :) Excellent food!! Great vibe!! Worth checking it out!!

Tbone that we were made to cut with a butter knife

TL;DR A steak restaurant without steak knives. Came here today for Christmas dinner. Service was lacking. Felt very rushed right from the start. Told us we had a 2 hour limit. Fine. Eating with 2 kids ensures we won't be there long. Steak was served without steak knives. Asked and were told to use our butter knives. Yes technically it works to cut but so would a just using my teeth. We got 2 steaks that cost over $200. Come on. Also, the forgot the asparagus we ordered. I asked them about it 40 mins after the steaks were served. The pink salt that was served with the steak had been sitting around in the humidity for a bit and was soft and clumpy. The French fries were also soggy Overall food was ok but the experience lacking.

King crab but dry. Well, not dry-dry, just I am used to moister waaaaah! Good portion though.

Mother's Day dinner, 14 people. The biggest star tonight that saved this establishment and gained 4 stars in my opinion was...the service. I am always inclined to give a better rating when service is good because service is almost everything to me. I feel whether you give good service or not is all your choice. Good service makes me forgive. Good service makes me think that intentions are good and at Aina Steak & Seafood I can tell how hard the servers work to make your visit a good one. They really are attentive and so polite and I really feel the genuine hospitality.. It just made me feel good as I left. And it makes me feel bad to have to point out the misses but here's the thing. I want this establishment to succeed if anything, for the hard workers who have to make it in Hawaii and I am tired of hearing about places closing down and people losing jobs. So I will take the time to give my opinion. The sides were great. The mashed potatoes...a definite win, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, calamari were good too. Also the abalone was so soft, salad and fruity house made special dressings good. For the steaks the ribeye and tomahawk were also good. What missed? How The steak and seafood were cooked lol...and that's what is supposed to win because that's your name!! So I feel that it's because of the cook, not the ingredients but the cooking of the steaks and seafood. I got the mother's day special which included wagyu steak, 4 oysters and king crab legs. I cannot remember the ounces and pounds but the amount was good. But the wagyu was overdone. I requested medium rare and what I got was ¾ well and ¼ pink. Everyone, meaning everyone's steak was overdone. I would skip the wagyu because If I wasn't told that my steak was wagyu, I would never have known and I have tasted good, melt in your mouth wagyu before. My family likes to see red in their steak not pink but red like blood. My crab legs were dry. Not dry-dry but dry enough that I had to use the drawn butter and I normally do not eat crab legs with butter because when we have crab legs at home it is juicy and that's all crab legs need, to be juicy, in order to taste it's sweetness. The other side of the table ordered 2 ultimate seafood platters. They told me that the lobsters and shrimp were rubbery. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now when the restaurant got smokey enough to where they had to open windows, what I observed was the fire at the grill was high reaching the hood. One person was grilling and another person was...fanning the flames!!! That does not reduce flaming and does the opposite! Anyone who knows how to grill understands that introducing more oxygen feeds fire. Omg.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also, anyone that knows how to cook seafood knows that all seafood has the potential to dry and get rubbery if cooked too long. It makes mere minutes to cook seafood. Please, please, retrain. If it wasn't for overdone steak and rubbery seafood I would have given 10 stars because the service is excellent so don't ever change that. Price wise, yes, definitely expensive. We paid $1900 which included proper tip. For that price...I mean... So no, this establishment is not at the caliber of let's say Stripsteak or Hy's, although the price point is. I shouldn't have to say, "hey if you go to Aina S&S make sure that if you want medium rare that they get you". For the price you pay they should just know. I mean if you like your steak done medium-well to well, then you'll love the steak. Idk who would want rubbery lobster though. But the awesome service, yah, you got me there 100%...1000%! 2 Parking areas in the back. The cheap parking is the big parking so heading east on Kuhio, right after Ritz Carlton turn right like you're going to the back side of the Ritz and it's there, although it's hard to tell. I mean just turn right when you see the P cause I missed it the first time. And then there's the other small parking lot on the other side of the fence, parking is separated. It's smaller and seems sketch but I parked there twice before and had no problem. For 3 hours it was $22 and some change. For that parking lot you head east on Kalakaua, turn left on Lewers and take the first left, yeah kinda sketch looking and small and expensive but it's close parking. Hope everyone else has a 5 star experience cause if they cook the steaks better and cook seafood shorter it will be good and I may try again. Gotta save up though. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Short ribs w/ mashed potatoes & 8oz steak w/ house salads
    Ale M.

There were plenty of steak house options around where we were staying but this place definitely caught my eye. The service was immaculate - our servers were extremely kind and provided us great recommendations on appetizers and wines. Mussels were made to perfection, short ribs w/ mashed were decadent & last but not least the medium 8oz ordered could literally be cut with a butterknife. Oh my god & I cannot forget the salads. House salad w/ the dressings were SO good - I wanted to cry. Peak tenderism. The food was exceptional with a reasonable price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will 100% be coming back here again. :)

Alina is one of those rare finds that feels like a secret you're lucky to stumble upon. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tucked away like a true hole-in-the-wall, it delivers far more than just great food...it offers a moment of peace, warmth, and genuine hospitality.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As a family that loves visiting steakhouses, we didn't expect this cozy spot to impress us the way it did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not only was the meal fantastic, but the entire experience felt special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The live music was beautifully balanced..gentle and soulful, adding to the vibe without overwhelming conversation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]What made it truly memorable was how the space embraced us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My son is autistic, and dining out can be tough, but something about the openness near the window..the natural light, maybe even the energy of the place, helped him feel at ease.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And for the first time in a while, I got to sit, breathe, and enjoy a full meal. There's a warmth here that goes beyond good service, it's the aloha spirit, felt in every smile and every thoughtful detail.

    Completely cleared plates!

We came by on a Friday night for dinner not knowing what to expect, except for the great reviews. It is located above the street level so it was a bit hard to find, but so glad that we did! Our server was Will and he was so attentive and knowledgeable. He provided us with great recommendations and also was very sweet. We did not catch Chef's name, but he did come out to greet us at the end of the meal. Speaking of the meal - what a fantastic dinner. We ordered a half dozen oysters and the fried calamari to start. The calamari was perfect - it was not over battered or breaded and the texture was 10/10. It was also not greasy at all. The oysters were a generous size and Will brought us out horseradish to enjoy with the cocktails sauce. Our steak - 10/10. It came with loaded mashed potatoes and a fresh dinner salad with a choice of three dressings - we chose spicy mango and Lilikoi papaya. They were both delicious. The lobster was very tender and it was huge! In addition to the sides that came with the meal, we ordered the mushroom medley and asparagus. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned and we ate every drop. Overall the reviews lived up to the hype and we had a fantastic dinner in Waikiki to end our trip. Thank you to the Aina team, for a great experience.

We came here for my husband's birthday. They had such great reviews online and we thought awesome! Made reservations online through yelp, and had to change the time. They are located on Lewers upstairs of the other food places. Once you get upstairs they need to open the door for you from the inside. The interior was very very red. When we got to the restaurant there was NO ONE else. With that being said the people kept coming up to us every 5 seconds and annoying us with the same question by different people. The menu is very small and doesn't have much choices. The owner eventually came up to us telling we should get the dry aged 33 oz bone in ribeye. Also the menu says that it can feed 2-3 people. That is a LIEE!!! My husband could have ate it himself. It was weird that the steak came out cut. We have been to our fair share of steakhouses and they have never cut our steak. And for some reason they cooked one side of the steak once it was cut?? So the steak pieces were close to well done not even close to medium rare. AND they don't even provide a steak knife they only gave a BUTTER KNIFE!! What in the world is up with this restaurant. And the owner comes out and says "so soft don't even need steak knife". I don't care give me a damn steak knife. Before that my husband was still picking at the salad they gave us and one of the other ladies asked if we were done and he said no and the lady goes "I'm not going to steal your salad haha". What was pissed me off was my stomach was a little sore that night so I wasn't eating too much and our initial server lady who had cigarette breath tells me I need to eat more because I'm too skinny. WHAT THE HELL?!?!? Who says that??? Do not try this place, it is awful. Wasted $300 at this place.

    18oz bone-in ribeye dry aged

Ordered the 18oz bone in dry aged rib eye. The steak is melt in your mouth and the accompanying flavored salts - so yummy. The server was so knowledgeable on everything and plenty options for someone with gluten intolerance. Will be back.

Top notch service, top notch steak, & not to mention fresh wasabi!! .... Came in to celebrate my birthday (wanting to try something not commercial) & this spot did not disappoint! The server (along w/ who I believe was the owner) tagged team making sure all was good throughout our dining experience. The steak, served w/a variety of salt flavors & the fresh wasabi (not horseradish), was amazing to the palate. Topped it off w/their recommended cheesecake & let me tell you, that was a must have! Definitely a must visit spot anytime I come to Oahu! .... only feedback is to probably have a better steak knife

An absolute gem of a place for dinner!!! I accidentally found this place walking out of the Pu Pu house trying to avoid a down pour of rain on my way to a different place. Rain was so bad that I found myself ducking in here quickly and decided to grab dinner. The steak here was absolutely phenomenal and the three salts they give you adds to the flavor and experience with every bite. Food was well above par and the service was right behind that exactly the same. What a great place this was.

The best steak I've ever had in my life! Tonight's masterpiece from the Chef ‍ was truly unforgettable -- a single steak with two incredible flavors in one cut! I've never seen anything like it before, and it tasted absolutely divine. This is the very definition of a chef's kiss! ‍ [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was amazing, and the staff were exceptionally polite, respectful, and attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Every detail felt thoughtful. It's worth every penny -- no doubt about it. If you're ever in Hawaii, you have to try this place at least once. I'll definitely be coming back. Thank you, Chef, for an unforgettable experience!

Aina Steak & Seafood Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Aina Steak & Seafood

Do they do take out? We went there last year with the family and it was delicious and amazing but this time I came alone as my husband passed a month after our trip last year.

Yes they do; I have ordered a steak to go with some sides and picked up and went back to my hotel to eat.

    Do they serve rice?

No, there is no rice on the menu across the board

    Do they have handicap access?

I can't remember...however it is located upstairs. But based on the service we received, I'm sure they would figure out a way to accommodate you.

Good for kids 2 and 5?

    Yes

Okay, so this is another "traditional" style steakhouse. Wait staff in ties, attentive table…read moreservice, and the like. Similar to Hy's, Empire presents as slightly more upscale than some of the others. The prices reflect this to some extent, although lower than Hy's for sure. Even during "happy hour", the lower prices are often accomplished with less product. 4 oysters instead of 6...that kind of shenanigans. We had the "Emperor's steak for 2", along with some sides, including cauliflower soup, sautéed asparagus, mashed potatoes, and the oysters and fried calamari as starters. Also served bread. And we had some drinks. I ordered an old fashioned, which for the happy hour $12 was passable. I'm sure a regular priced version would have been a healthier pour and maybe even better than well whiskey. The bread was uneventful. The oysters were $16 for 4 of the smallest oysters I've seen. They were super fresh and all tho, so . The calamari was decent, but there are a few hundred bars in Honolulu that probably do a better job with it. The asparagus was cooked perfect and tasted good. The cauliflower soup was a bit under seasoned but otherwise okay. The mashed potatoes were actually pretty disappointing. Guess I was expecting more of a French prep. But they were a bit too much on the dry side for me and lacked any real flavor. Then we come to the steak. At ~$225 it is definitely a treat. But it did not disappoint. A bone-in porterhouse cut cooked perfectly to our requested temp. I especially appreciated the lack of over salting and tons of butter used by so many chefs these days. This allowed the natural juices to pull forward and give the good cut time to shine. The staff were, as I said, excellent. I'm not too sure of the backstory for the ownership or food sourcing, so I won't factor in that. I hope it's local ownership and not using Sysco products, but who knows these days. End of the day, if you like this type of experience and don't mind the spend, then Empire is a recommend. Overall the food was decent and the service is great. For me, I guess I'm just uncultured enough to prefer a good ribeye on someone's backyard grill tho.

From the moment we arrived, everyone was incredible! My friend and I are two younger women, and sometimes at higher-end/fancier restaurants , we've felt overlooked or not taken as seriously compared to other guests. That was absolutely not the case here! they treated us with the same level of care and respect as everyone else, and we really appreciated that. Once we were seated, we had the best server (I unfortunately forgot his name, but he was tall, had dreads, and his name started with an "L.") He did an amazing job explaining both the menu and the restaurant, especially since it was my friend's and my first time dining at Ruth's Chris. Throughout the night, the service remained exceptional. Multiple staff members came by regularly to make sure our drinks were refilled and that we had everything we needed. We felt genuinely well taken care of the entire evening. Overall, the hospitality alone made this such a memorable experience, and we would definitely come back.

Found out they don't like kids sit at the bar. I get it...an adult would drink more than my 2 year old so not worth the seat. They had tables outside so we didn't need to wait. Took us 3 to a 7-top on the other end of the walkway. They also don't want a 2 year old disrupting anyone. Ordered salad, sides, steaks, and a lot of wine. Food was delish other than our first bread coulda knocked someone out. Baby got the poops and is potty training so we did multiple trips to the bathroom. Other than having to go into a smaller stall, never had to wait long to get in. 1 sink doesn't work well in the women's though. People standing there waving and doing little dances to try to get the water to turn on. The reason for only 3 stars...2 workers were dining in and seated near us. So many workers came out to say hi you woulda thought they were celebrities. It was a little distracting. After the people would go back to work, the commentary started. Some nice, some not so nice. It was interesting to hear the tea and I was listening for my friends' names but never heard anything. This is Hawaii...we all know someone somewhere. The only reason either of us was listening was b/c 1 of us was there solo while baby pooped, and no one out there was trying to be discreet. Was still a good night just a little less professional than we are used to there.

Some of the standouts for me were the made to order hand rolls, seafood Alfredo, salt and pepper shrimp, chicken kalbi, and the kiawe smoked prime rib. I also appreciated the nice assortment of desserts to finish off the experience, and our waiter John gave us a free dessert for my parents 33rd wedding anniversary (which happened to be that day also). The brisket also had good flavor but was a touch overcooked compared to what I was hoping for. It was not bad by any means, just a little more dry than usual. The main reason this is a 4 star review instead of 5 stars was the organization of the buffet lines and overall unorganized stations. During our visit, it was not always clear where the line was supposed to start, (as both ends of the line were easily accessible) what direction people were supposed to go, or whether certain stations had separate lines. At times it felt like everyone was kind of piled around the same areas, which made the experience feel more chaotic than it needed to be, especially for a holiday buffet. That said, the food selection was strong, the setting was nice, and it still felt like a good place to celebrate Father's Day.

The tables have seating for eight. We were lucky and our party of four had the table all to ourselves. It helps that you come before the dinner crowd. The drink selection is large compared to the entree menu. And that makes sense, the grill masters need to be in and out but you can enjoy drinks as long as you want. (Within reason) All the meats were done right. And by right I mean yummy to my tummy. We shared filet mignon, teriyaki beef, chicken, and the soft beef tongue between us. The shrimp was overcooked and sometimes the veggies can be too because they sit on the grill for the show. Each meal comes with white rice. You can pay extra for the fried rice upgrade. There's the standard wafu salad and the meal ends with a scoop of ice cream. Overall four stars. You're going to spend $$$$. This isn't a weekly event but celebrating a special occasion or a family treat it's worth it. I'm not sure how parking works if you're not staying at the hotel. Enjoy M

The chef was local, funny, and put on a great show while cooking, which made the meal feel special and entertaining. Service had a hiccup from the host. I asked about an Instagram discount on a bottle of bourbon and the host initially refused, only relenting after I insisted; that pushback left a bit of a sour note. They did include a free photo of our group, which was a nice souvenir to take home. Would recommend for birthdays and celebrations if you want a lively atmosphere and a chef who engages the table, but be prepared to be firm if you expect a special discount.

The moment you walk in the staff greets you like you are part of the family. Their smiles are warm and bright. Even the uncle that's in the parking lot goes out of his way to make sure your cars are well looked after so you don't have to worry. What can I see? The food experience was 10 out of 10 for us. We started off with the smoked grilled octopus. It was so tender. You could cut it with a fork. It had a very nice smoky flavor with a bit of char and a little bit of crunch. It was a perfect bite. Impaired with the chili pepper water took it over the top. We also ordered the fried brussels sprouts with the drizzle of honey, the broccolini and the truffle mashed potatoes. All of these dishes were seasoned too perfection. Even the truffle mash just a subtle subtle flavor of the delicate mushroom, not overpowering at all. Everything was so well balanced. When our entries arrived, which was the Nakamura prime rib and the pork chop both were really good! I ordered the charred Caesar salad and duck fat fries. The charred salad was odd, I think I was expecting a light smoke but I guess they were true to the title because it was charred. My prime rib was the standard medium rare but it took some cutting because there was so much connective tissue that had not melted, the fat hadn't melted either. It was just bad. I asked the server about the prime rib and she said it's supposed to have a lot of fat because of the cut. Absolutely true, but it's supposed to melt not be huge chunks. It also needed the horseradish, it had no flavor otherwise. The server was nice and took half off the prime rib. The fries tasted like a standard fry I've had before, nothing special. I tried the lobster pasta my friend had and it was delicious, everyone who ordered pasta at the table was satisfied which is great but this is a steak restaurant. The server was really nice. I wouldn't come back even if someone else was paying. But my dog appreciated the prime rib I brought home, so I guess that's a win?

Boy oh boy was this place awesome…read more My wife and I went here for one of our honeymoon dinners and we went kind of wild with the menu. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomach but we were determined to try a little of everything we wanted. I loved that the employees made it feel so special and wrote us congratulation cards for our wedding we had the night before and it was our 7 year anniversary and they set it up on our table before we got there. Starting off with the oysters and Crab legs for starters, definitely awesome taste. Our waiter Darren was so awesome and nice enough to de shell the legs for us and brought it out nice and hot. By the time we finished the legs and oysters we were half way full. The legs are a whole pound had tons of meat. Then we were served the main dishes, my wife got some sort of fish with a miso type of broth and vegetables which was not only filled with flavor but really nice and soft. I got the wagyu ribeye for myself and it didn't disappoint. It didn't help that I was already half way full when I got it but it was sooo good. It went so well with the sautéed brussel sprouts and baked potatoes we got on the side. By this time we couldn't even finish our food but we still had dessert coming. I forgot what it was but you can see for yourself in the picture. It was like a warm, soft chocolate cake with chocolate fudge in the middle with some vanilla ice cream to cool it down and when you bite into it, it just explodes with flavor. So so good. Lastly, Darren our waiter was so attentive and was very detailed with his description of the foods themselves and just went above and beyond with serving us. His gestures were hugely appreciated by both of us and I would definitely recommend him to anyone going to eat at this place. Keep in mind this place is quite high end, so you will be spending some good money but if you appreciate great service and food, it will be well worth it. Thank you to all the staff for making our honeymoon dinner an awesome one to remember.

This restaurant is tucked away in such a cute little village -esque area which adds to the charm. There is seating outdoors but BE WARNED. THE BIRDS ARE CRAZY RUTHLESS. While enjoying my meal, I was ducking and dodging so many birds flying around the tables. The storefront is where you order your meal and then a staff member will walk everything over to your table. My family ordered the ahi tuna, loco moco, seafood platter, calamari appetizer, and bbq chicken. Each meal comes with a scoop of rice, green salad and corn. My little sister enjoyed her bbq chicken with a side of salad and it looked really juicy. The loco moco was on the drier side while the seafood platter offered a decent variety of different seafoods which my mom really enjoyed. The calamari appetizer was perfectly breaded and we all loved it! I enjoyed the ahi tuna but I wish there was more flavor to the fish. The fish was nicely cooked and a paired well with the rice and salad. Since we walked to this restaurant, I didn't get a chance to see where parking was but I assume hotel parking is used for this establishment.
