    Love u too!

Teppan Chef Dart was entertaining, fun and made our birthday celebration so special! We loved his jokes and knife skills.

You're definitely in here for a show and a great meal! Our cook, Richard made our night with good conversation and laughter! The kids enjoyed the knife twirls and egg tricks! Food was great, and ended our meal with dessert. Definitely coming back!

This was such a fun dining experience. Our chef was very affable, welcoming, and he had a great sense of humor. He constructed a volcano made out of onions and performed a light show, which my 6 year old twin boys enjoyed very much. I ordered the emperor A5 and it was amazingly delicious. It was cooked to my preferred temperature of medium rare. The A5 was flavorful and extremely tender. I also enjoyed the lobster tail and grilled vegetables, which consisted of onions, sprouts, and zucchini. They served the best side car I've tasted, which consisted of Hennessy and blood orange. This establishment is a must try when vacationing in Waikiki.

A+ five starts had a great time! Sat at the end of the bar, great fish and bourbon. The bourbon barrel picks here are top tier. Far and away the best Eagle Rare pick I've had, although the Weller Full Proof fell a little short for me. Amazing vibe, wonderful staff. Friendly. Just can't say enough. Check out sister restaurant Rm 38 for a upscale dive bar bourbon heaven. Cheers

We stopped in here for dinner on a quieter Monday night. The waitress was pleasant, but we waited about 30 minutes for dinner after we got our salad, it was just a bit ridiculous. The food was OK --nothing great or memorable--and everything covered in excessive butter; honestly, I've been to a number of teppanyaki restaurants and never seen quite so much butter in my life. The eight dollar up charge for fried rice was ridiculous, it was some of the worst fried rice I've ever had. While the steak and shrimp were, and the presentation was fine, overall everything was just OK. Will definitely not return.

Excellent service and food, chef Dart is professional and friendly, highly recommended five star

45 minutes after reservation time no food on the grill or chef anywhere close to getting started

Made a dinner reservation for my family of 5 at 6:30 PM, it is currently 7:15 PM with no food insight. We have been sitting here for 45 minutes drinking water and had a small salad waiting for our dinner to get started. If you need to eat here make a reservation for an hour before you really want to eat because that's how long it will take for them to actually get started. Very disappointing.

We traveled to Oahu and stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for spring break with our two boys (16 and 10). They wanted Teppanyaki so we decided to try out this spot. Ambiance (FIVE stars): The ambiance of this restaurant is CLEAN and very nice. Some Teppanyaki places I have gone to just feel and smell dirty but this one has a clean and nice ambiance. Food (FIVE stars): We ordered the following My Two Boys: Got the Filet Mignon EACH and both got the side of Chicken Fried Rice (not included which was shocking) We ordered: The Chicken Jadori with Scallops and a side of fried rice for each. We shared the entree which was a good move because we were both hungry but not super hungry. Our Server (FIVE stars): Masa served us and it was good service. Our Experience (ONE star): The explanation is why I gave this place a 3 star rating and this is something that you should be aware of when you go here. This place is NOT CHEAP. Our reservation was at 8pm and we got there at a few mins before 8pm. We were seated at 8:10pm and offered drinks subsequently and we ordered our food. About 10-15 mins later we were offered salad and then NOTHING. Our chef showed up at 9:10pm!! Our kids were so hangry and I was irritated because who wants to watch a show when all they want to do is eat because one is so hungry. Our server did tell us "they were backed up" and made small talk with us for about 20 mins in the middle but this experience was HORRIBLE. I will not go here again...again, to be fair, all things equal, this place would have been GREAT if it was not for the fact that our chef came 1 hour 10 mins after we sat but folks around us on other tables that came AFTER us left BEFORE us. If you go here make sure you lock in the time of your chef coming etc especially if you are with young kids. After I complained they gave me a concession on the bill but it was not worth the aggravation especially since this place was expensive.

I always steered away from these types of teppanyaki restaurants since it feels a bit gimmicky but I surprisingly really enjoyed this dinner! My bf made a reservation but the restaurant was quite spacious and seemed to take walk-ins towards the end of the night. The service was great and our chef was entertaining with their signature onion volcano. We ordered the filet mignon and chateaubriand as our main with the hibachi fried rice, scallop, and zucchini as our sides. Each dish was cooked separately and was staggered throughout our meal. Our cuts of meat were cooked perfectly - the chef will ask how you prefer your steak to be done. Everything was well seasoned and flavorful but my favorite was their starter side salad dish because their dressing was so good! I even asked the server what kind of dressing they use but she said it's made in-house and she's not able to give me the recipe lol. The only downside for theses type of restaurant is you can't add on extra sides if you're still hungry because once the chef is done cooking they clean the grill. Also, the cooking process takes over an hour if your table is full because the chef is cooking for 8 people.

This was probably the best hibachi that I have ever had. Just the smells alone make you want to go inside and have dinner? The restaurant is very big he made a reservation. I were seated right away. The food was very fresh and our chef was amazing. We usually go to hibachi and it's always the same show, but with this place it was completely different. The food was very well seasoned. The drinks were great and if you're in Waikiki, I definitely recommend this place.

Such a fun place! When you walk up the ambiance and vibe hits you. You are transported to Japan through the front garden and door. The lively atmosphere is catchy, you are now in a good mood. This is not a regular Benihana or Teppan restaurant, it's a step above. The menu has great drink options, many Hawaiian themed. The food options are next level and all delicious. We came with a party of 9 so we tried several. The staff is so nice and welcoming. They welcome questions and are very helpful. They have vegan and vegetarian options with tofu that are not on the menu but are available. The chef was so entertaining and so funny! He played to the adults and also the children. Everyone enjoyed it. This is a place for special occasions and not just a regular spot. The prices are a little higher and the quality of food and the experience more than cover that. Just know before you go so you're not surprised. A standout is the guava lemonade. The lilikoi lemonade and the mango lemonade are awesome as well They do have free refills on soft drinks and lemonade. I came with my family on our vacation as the special dinner on our last night and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be back next year !

Teppan Chef Dart was making our deluxe seafoods and vegetables

Our family of 7 came to eat with AOKI teppanyaki Waikiki today. The restaurant here is the best on Waikiki Beach. Our Teppan Chef Dart, cooked excellent steaks, chicken legs, and seafood. They weren't overcooked at all. Chef Dart also showed off his skills on the teppanyaki plate, creating onion volcanoes and flying eggs. Living message " I U " in fried rice . We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. After dinner, we also received complimentary ice cream, which was delicious and entertaining night.

Located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village where we stayed, we were pleasantly surprised to seat our group of 8 at a table together for a friend's bday. The chef was funny, professional, and fun at the same time. The food was very good, and definitely would love to try it again. They also have vegetarian option (tofu) for anyone who needs that. Everyone was friendly, food and drink were amazing! I got the seafood deluxe which came with scallops, shrimp, prawns, and lobster tail!

Aoki Teppanyaki Waikiki Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Aoki Teppanyaki Waikiki

Can anyone verify if using a credit card to pay if it codes as Hilton?

I don't know. But highly doubt it.

Are two people allowed to share a meal?

I'm sure you can. They may charge you a fee but I don't know why don't you call them and ask them

    How do you make reservations?

Call the restaurant! Or use the Aoki's App

Is there parking for this restaurant or do I have to park at the hotel?

At the Hotel but I think they validate. The food is great!

How are the options for Vegetarians? Is there a Tepan style vegetable dinner?

They don't have a vegetarian option on the menu but you could order the fried rice without chicken (or kimchee fried rice, didn't come with meat) and add on veggies from the special add-on menu. They do offer some seafood options if you eat fish or…

Ginger Sauce and mustard sauces on the side for everyone?

    Yeah!

What vegan options are available on the menu?

Other than steamed rice and vegetables there is no other options, after all this is a steak house (used to be a Benihana!)

Do they have yum yum sauce?

    yes!!

I see this Ramen Loco Moco but it's not on the menu?

It's actually available only for lunch; 11:30am-2:00pm every day.

Despite handling over 400 reservations that evening, every staff member made us feel like we were their top priority. Special thanks to our server, Sasha, whose warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality were extraordinary. She stayed cheerful and accommodating even in the busiest moments. Our chef, Joe, was equally remarkable. Knowing my 92-year-old mother needed her food chopped very small, he took great care to ensure everything was just right, even checking in to confirm the size of her chicken pieces. Joe also treated my husband and me to a special dish with his own homemade teriyaki sauce, explaining how he crafted it. His cooking skills, humor, and lively conversation made the evening feel personal and joyful. Watching him perform his signature fire and juggling tricks while chatting about travel had my mother giggling with delight! The food was, as always, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed the poke (so fresh and flavorful!), soybeans with the perfect bite, shrimp, steaks, teriyaki chicken, lobster, scallops, and finished with their signature complimentary ice cream. We've been regulars at Tanaka for years, and it's clear why this restaurant continues to be one of Honolulu's treasures. My heartfelt thanks to the owner for maintaining such a consistently excellent establishment and to the entire team for their kindness, professionalism, and aloha spirit. One of the perks was fam tours where businesses would invite tour coordinators to experience their business with hopes of us recommending them. This first hand experience was instrumental in "selling" the business as coordinators encountered the business firsthand. We could provide concrete details to convince and persuade the tourists to patronize them. One of the businesses was Tanaka of Tokyo (TT), which boasts teppanyaki, a type of Japanese cuisine that cooks on a flat griddle. TT started in 1978 in Waikiki Shopping Plaza, an impressive run of 48 years and still going strong. They currently have 3 locations: West (Ala Moana), Central (Waikiki Shopping Plaza) and East (Outrigger Waikiki Paradise Hotel). They previously had locations at King's Village and Ilikai Hotel Yacht Harbor Tower. The main attraction of TT is having the chef cook in front of you. Food is cooked in front of you and served fresh. Entertainment is an additional attraction with teppanyaki. Out of town guests can really enjoy this unique experience. We celebrated a friend's birthday recently where TT East was the selected venue. They are located just next to Hookipa Terrace with nearby neighbors of California Pizza Kitchen and Jade Dynasty. Reservations were made in advance and our group of eight sat in a semi circle surrounding the grill. They have multiple courses to choose from where surf and turf is popular but I opted for the salmon course, which included green salad, miso soup, appetizer of grilled shrimp, sautéed veggies (onions, bell peppers and bean sprouts), Japanese pickles, rice and dessert. For a surcharge I got the garlic fried rice as I remembered this not only being entertaining but delicious. Our grill chef was Joe, a long time veteran of over 20 years where he also trains the new chefs of TT. He clearly engaged with us by also adding jokes in between. My salmon was executed well with a nice exterior crust, the meat was moist and seasoned perfectly. The only thing that didn't make the mark was the garlic fried rice. I recall it being more flavorful with also crispy garlic here and there for a more pungent taste. It wasn't what I previously remembered from multiple visits to TT. Service was also great. We were followed up periodically with staff removing excess plates, providing water and hot tea refills and even providing take out boxes to some of my friends who couldn't finish their meal. Staff were thoughtful in singing "Happy Birthday"and placed a candle in the ice cream that accompanied the course meal. Overall, a memorable dinner with friends celebrating a joyous evening. This past July we were the only Omakase guests so we had a nice private dining experience. The quality of the food and the staff are consistent each visit. Highly recommend.

Making a reservation for teppanyaki was really easy, and the restaurant manager and our server Jin Jin made the experience unforgettable. They were so accommodating to my request and worked with me to prepare a surprise for my husband, which we all enjoyed. Thank you! The restaurant is a no-frill but simple and elevated dining experience, and it felt like we were making our escape from kitschy tourist traps. I've been to other teppanyaki restaurants in my time, and Suntory focuses more on the quality of the food and service. There is no onion tower or chefs throwing shrimps in your mouth, which was exactly what we wanted- we wanted a nice dining experience and not a tourist entertainment spot. One thing that I noticed at Suntory is that their teppanyaki areas are situated in a way that there are 2 grills per section, one grill for 4 people. I saw that there were sections of 1 grill for 8 people to cater to large groups too, but having a smaller grill to share with another couple made the dining experience more intimate. Lastly, order their garlic fried rice!

Parking is available in the garage beneath or if you're lucky you can find street parking along the side. We had a reservation at 5pm and were seated immediately at our scheduled time. There were so many people waiting outside so I already had high expectations for this place. Once seated, we were greeted right away with hot towels and water. We got our sides and our sesame shortly after and I opted for the dish that had 1 of everything of oyster, shrimp tempura, onion, pork loin, and chicken. You also get to choose what kind of rice and soup you want. I went with shiso rice and regular miso tofu soup. I figure I might as well go big! Our food arrived and the first bite had me immediately hooked. The tonkatsu is so airy and didn't feel heavy at all. The rice was nice and fluffy, you can tell they use the good rice. I was never a big fan of tonkatsu but this place changed my mind. I already can't wait for my next time back. Pro tip: MAKE A RESERVATION!!
