We traveled to Oahu and stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for spring break with our two boys (16 and 10). They wanted Teppanyaki so we decided to try out this spot. Ambiance (FIVE stars): The ambiance of this restaurant is CLEAN and very nice. Some Teppanyaki places I have gone to just feel and smell dirty but this one has a clean and nice ambiance. Food (FIVE stars): We ordered the following My Two Boys: Got the Filet Mignon EACH and both got the side of Chicken Fried Rice (not included which was shocking) We ordered: The Chicken Jadori with Scallops and a side of fried rice for each. We shared the entree which was a good move because we were both hungry but not super hungry. Our Server (FIVE stars): Masa served us and it was good service. Our Experience (ONE star): The explanation is why I gave this place a 3 star rating and this is something that you should be aware of when you go here. This place is NOT CHEAP. Our reservation was at 8pm and we got there at a few mins before 8pm. We were seated at 8:10pm and offered drinks subsequently and we ordered our food. About 10-15 mins later we were offered salad and then NOTHING. Our chef showed up at 9:10pm!! Our kids were so hangry and I was irritated because who wants to watch a show when all they want to do is eat because one is so hungry. Our server did tell us "they were backed up" and made small talk with us for about 20 mins in the middle but this experience was HORRIBLE. I will not go here again...again, to be fair, all things equal, this place would have been GREAT if it was not for the fact that our chef came 1 hour 10 mins after we sat but folks around us on other tables that came AFTER us left BEFORE us. If you go here make sure you lock in the time of your chef coming etc especially if you are with young kids. After I complained they gave me a concession on the bill but it was not worth the aggravation especially since this place was expensive.

Our family of 7 came to eat with AOKI teppanyaki Waikiki today. The restaurant here is the best on Waikiki Beach. Our Teppan Chef Dart, cooked excellent steaks, chicken legs, and seafood. They weren't overcooked at all. Chef Dart also showed off his skills on the teppanyaki plate, creating onion volcanoes and flying eggs. Living message " I U " in fried rice . We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. After dinner, we also received complimentary ice cream, which was delicious and entertaining night.

We stopped in here for dinner on a quieter Monday night. The waitress was pleasant, but we waited about 30 minutes for dinner after we got our salad, it was just a bit ridiculous. The food was OK --nothing great or memorable--and everything covered in excessive butter; honestly, I've been to a number of teppanyaki restaurants and never seen quite so much butter in my life. The eight dollar up charge for fried rice was ridiculous, it was some of the worst fried rice I've ever had. While the steak and shrimp were, and the presentation was fine, overall everything was just OK. Will definitely not return.

A+ five starts had a great time! Sat at the end of the bar, great fish and bourbon. The bourbon barrel picks here are top tier. Far and away the best Eagle Rare pick I've had, although the Weller Full Proof fell a little short for me. Amazing vibe, wonderful staff. Friendly. Just can't say enough. Check out sister restaurant Rm 38 for a upscale dive bar bourbon heaven. Cheers

This was probably the best hibachi that I have ever had. Just the smells alone make you want to go inside and have dinner? The restaurant is very big he made a reservation. I were seated right away. The food was very fresh and our chef was amazing. We usually go to hibachi and it's always the same show, but with this place it was completely different. The food was very well seasoned. The drinks were great and if you're in Waikiki, I definitely recommend this place.

I always steered away from these types of teppanyaki restaurants since it feels a bit gimmicky but I surprisingly really enjoyed this dinner! My bf made a reservation but the restaurant was quite spacious and seemed to take walk-ins towards the end of the night. The service was great and our chef was entertaining with their signature onion volcano. We ordered the filet mignon and chateaubriand as our main with the hibachi fried rice, scallop, and zucchini as our sides. Each dish was cooked separately and was staggered throughout our meal. Our cuts of meat were cooked perfectly - the chef will ask how you prefer your steak to be done. Everything was well seasoned and flavorful but my favorite was their starter side salad dish because their dressing was so good! I even asked the server what kind of dressing they use but she said it's made in-house and she's not able to give me the recipe lol. The only downside for theses type of restaurant is you can't add on extra sides if you're still hungry because once the chef is done cooking they clean the grill. Also, the cooking process takes over an hour if your table is full because the chef is cooking for 8 people.

Located at the Hilton Hawaiian Village where we stayed, we were pleasantly surprised to seat our group of 8 at a table together for a friend's bday. The chef was funny, professional, and fun at the same time. The food was very good, and definitely would love to try it again. They also have vegetarian option (tofu) for anyone who needs that. Everyone was friendly, food and drink were amazing! I got the seafood deluxe which came with scallops, shrimp, prawns, and lobster tail!

Such a fun place! When you walk up the ambiance and vibe hits you. You are transported to Japan through the front garden and door. The lively atmosphere is catchy, you are now in a good mood. This is not a regular Benihana or Teppan restaurant, it's a step above. The menu has great drink options, many Hawaiian themed. The food options are next level and all delicious. We came with a party of 9 so we tried several. The staff is so nice and welcoming. They welcome questions and are very helpful. They have vegan and vegetarian options with tofu that are not on the menu but are available. The chef was so entertaining and so funny! He played to the adults and also the children. Everyone enjoyed it. This is a place for special occasions and not just a regular spot. The prices are a little higher and the quality of food and the experience more than cover that. Just know before you go so you're not surprised. A standout is the guava lemonade. The lilikoi lemonade and the mango lemonade are awesome as well They do have free refills on soft drinks and lemonade. I came with my family on our vacation as the special dinner on our last night and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be back next year !

I got the Salmon streaks with fried rice. It came with a shrimp appetizer, I also got the lava colada drink, The food show was put on by the cook PJ who did a good job showing off the spinning skills. The group I was with got a verity of dishes. Steak , tuna and the chicken. All the staff that served us was friendly. The place is worth going for the food and the show . Just remember it is on the spendy

Fun Teppanyaki Night - Amazing Drinks, Great Food! On our last trip to Hawaii, my wife and I did Benihana, but this time Aoki Teppanyaki took over the location -- same concept, new experience! We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away, which was awesome. The only downside? They put us at the end of a super tight aisle. I'm 6'3" and need legroom, so my chair stuck out a bit. I ended up getting bumped into all night by the servers . Kinda annoying, especially since there was space on the other side that stayed open until a couple was seated there after us. Now, onto the good stuff -- the food and drinks were ! * I ordered the NY Strip Steak (medium) with Kimchi Fried Rice. Steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy. The fried rice was flavorful, but a little more kimchi would've made it perfect for me. * My wife ordered prawns with garlic fried rice -- and she said it was absolutely delicious. The prawns were cooked just right! We also got a little appetizer plate with grilled zucchini, bean sprouts, and four shrimp pieces (included in the cost) -- a nice start to the meal. Our chef? Hilarious and entertaining! Definitely made the experience fun. But the real star? The bartender. His Mai Tai was hands-down the best we've had this trip. Perfect balance, super smooth -- just wow. Overall: great food, great drinks, and fun vibes. Just hope for better seating next time!

The best Teppanyaki place! Good quality of steak and seafood. It's prepared in its exquisiteness that makes it mouth watering. Price is reasonable, you get what you pay for. Their portions are good too. Service was amazing, very friendly atmosphere. We had a great time with our cook chef. He was not only a good cook, he performs an amazing culinary tricks. He is fully engaged with the us (guests), making it a theatrical dining. SHOUT OUT TO YOU PJ. You are terrific, SUGOI!!! Highly recommended.

Teppan is always a fun dining experience but Aoki definitely took it to another level as far as service goes. Both serving staff and teppan chef made the experience great. We did have a toddler and it's sometimes hard to sit consistently but there she enjoyed the show more than us which took some pressure to entertain off and we all enjoyed dinner. The food itself is the same level of quality as kobe but the menu selection is one up here. You get more selections of sides and extras which is nice to build your own combo. The Teppan chef Luis was hands down one of the best i've experienced. ask for him if possible!

    Keeping it fun!

I will say... this is probably the best teppanyaki experience I've ever had! I've been trying to find places like it since back in Seattle where I'm from and can't! The quality of the food is just better the chef is more skilled. I can't wait to come back!!!! Our chef was so nice, cracked jokes, and was incredibly deft. The whole ambiance felt like we were transported to Japan for a meal. We both got the steak and lobster and while expensive, I felt like it was pretty reasonable compared to other restaurants on the island!

Despite handling over 400 reservations that evening, every staff member made us feel like we were their top priority. Special thanks to our server, Sasha, whose warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality were extraordinary. She stayed cheerful and accommodating even in the busiest moments. Our chef, Joe, was equally remarkable. Knowing my 92-year-old mother needed her food chopped very small, he took great care to ensure everything was just right, even checking in to confirm the size of her chicken pieces. Joe also treated my husband and me to a special dish with his own homemade teriyaki sauce, explaining how he crafted it. His cooking skills, humor, and lively conversation made the evening feel personal and joyful. Watching him perform his signature fire and juggling tricks while chatting about travel had my mother giggling with delight! The food was, as always, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. We enjoyed the poke (so fresh and flavorful!), soybeans with the perfect bite, shrimp, steaks, teriyaki chicken, lobster, scallops, and finished with their signature complimentary ice cream. We've been regulars at Tanaka for years, and it's clear why this restaurant continues to be one of Honolulu's treasures. My heartfelt thanks to the owner for maintaining such a consistently excellent establishment and to the entire team for their kindness, professionalism, and aloha spirit. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience filled with great food and genuine hospitality, Tanaka of Tokyo is the place to go!

Discovered this location while exploring Waikiki. Have always enjoyed hibachi and Teon style…read morerestaurants, however, here in the states, they are always almost all Benihana style where there has to be a big show and interaction. With Suntory you get all the flavor and taste of hibachi without the engagement--which I thoroughly enjoyed! Our chef, Roy, was excellent and didn't need to impress by spinning eggs or chucking chunks of food in anyone's mouth. The drinks were excellent. I shared a whiskey flight with my wife and sampled the world's best Whiskey (which is undoubtedly Japanese whiskey!!). If you come to this place, looking for the Benihana experience, then you've come to the wrong place. But if you're looking for great food and a low-key atmosphere, then this is your spot.

Our recent 9-sampler dinner (private special event) at Restaurant Suntory was an exceptional dining…read moreexperience from start to finish. Each course was beautifully presented and showcased the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Restaurant Suntory's manager, executive advisor and executive sushi chef warmly welcomed us and gave us individual mini flower bouquets as parting gifts. The sashimi and sushi courses were outstanding, featuring impeccably fresh fish. One of the highlights was the teppanyaki beef. Every bite of the Miyazaki sirloin and filet were incredibly tender, flavorful, and just melted in your mouth! The misoyaki black cod was another standout dish--so rich and buttery with subtle sweetness. The 2 private party rooms for our group were intimate and comfortable. The service throughout the evening was attentive and warm. We highly recommend Restaurant Suntory and we look forward to returning for another delicious meal! This was our 4th visit (teppanyaki twice and washoku once before). We will have to try their sushi bar, Sushi Tokiwa next time!
