Oh my goodness! I did not know what to expect from Tikis Bar and Grill. Our family has traveled to Hawaii several times, but had never tried this restaurant. But, we were pleasantly impressed by the food and our server Maka. We were seated at an outside table by a host, but it was hot. We asked if we could be changed to an inside table, but the host told us we would have to go back to the host stand and wait for another table. Our party of 7 decided to stay where we were. Then our server, Maka came with water and introduced himself . He asked if we wanted to switch tables because it was hot. He was very perceptive and he was able to change our table. We knew from that point we had an awesome server. During our time at Tikis, Maka thoroughly explained the menu to us and gave excellent food recommendations. He came by to check on us throughout our meal to see if everything was good and if we needed anything. We were appreciative of his kindness. The food was great! The coconut shrimp and kalua pork quesadillas were delicious. The guava ribs were fall off the bone good! Our table also ordered the coconut chicken and volcano wings. All the items were very tasty. We even received chicken taro, compliments from the chef, which made of feel real special. TIP: Go during Happy Hour to try samples of their appetizers at a good price! From the hostess to the employee picking things up around the restaurant, every single person we encountered was genuinely friendly and welcoming. A special shoutout to Maka, our waiter! He was attentive, proactive, and seemed to anticipate our every need before we even asked. The food was outstanding. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious, the prime rib was perfectly cooked, and the wings were packed with flavor. And the drinks? Absolutely heavenly! My Coconut Mojito was refreshing, unique, and one of the best cocktails I've had. Even better, I got to take home a cool Tikis souvenir glass! Coming into this review, I really began to wonder what to expect for Tiki's. I never visited there before, and being that this was a first-time visit, I was blown away in terms of expectations. From the decor to the view atop the restaurant, it screamed "Hawaii" through and through. So for lunch, I decided to order their Kalua Pork Sandwich. For $17, it was a fair price for what you got in terms of the amount of food. The Pork was very succulent and juicy, and the presentation with the taro bun really made it look like I was eating in a Hawaiian restaurant. The fries were not bad at all. The shape really looked interesting from first look. Overall, I have to say, it was really good. I definitely will consider coming back here for the sandwich again, if I had to. Sean our waiter was one of the loveliest person I had ever met in my life. He gave such wonderful food recommendations and was literally a one man army taking care of everyone. We had great conversations throughout the night, and although I don't remember our server's name, she was absolutely amazing and really made the experience feel special. We walked in for a very late dinner after the 4th of July fireworks. The restaurant was popping! So much foot traffic and live music. The wait wasn't too bad - it was 15-20 mins wait and the three hostess ladies were very friendly and nice. We got seated near the live musicians so it was a bit loud. The server was nice. After I placed the order, I realized I didn't ask her if they could make the potato without garlic. She rushed to the kitchen to double check. She asked if I wanted to replace the mashed potatoes with a salad I said okay so when the food came out it was a surprise that it became a salmon salad. I wanted the bok choy along with the salmon and the salad but it's okay. I just didn't think a salmon salad is worth $39 (same price as the prime rib entree). My fiancée ordered the prime rib it was okay. We also ordered two drinks- it included the take home glass cup, we thought it might have been one of those tiki glasses but it was the glass cup that says tiki Waikiki. The view from this 3rd floor restaurant is amazing. The atmosphere is incredible and we had a great time here. It's the less busy bar of the two but we were able to hear the live music being played but our conversation was not drowned out by the volume, a total WIN-WIN for us! We had a big lunch together Duke's this afternoon so we decided to just order a couple of Pupus (appetizers) to sate our appetite. The Brussel Sprouts were delicious and perfectly cooked. We also had some Venison Gyoza which was surprisingly tasty. My Wife doesn't like venison at all and she really enjoyed it after a little coaxing to get her to try it. It was extremely well balanced and not gamey, as venison usually tastes that way. The Prime Rib Poke was really good, unfortunately there was a lot of pipikula aioli on top and my Wife doesn't like aioli but she tried it and she okay with it. Admittedly, I tried my best to clear off the aioli before she tried it and that may have helped. I love their Christmas bar, this is the second year in a row that we've come to their event. The bartenders are super fun and friendly. And the drinks are cute and yummy. The room is filled with every Christmas ornament on the island from ceiling to floor. It is absolutely adorable. There was a long line to get in when we first came last night. But we went around 11 and there was plenty of room. They do close at midnight. There's no fee to get in you just need to buy some drinks. And they have valet parking at the hotel, Just get your receipt stamped. This place also has yummy food and I love their Tiki mugs. My family, friends, and I frequented Tiki's often in the early 2000s when my partner worked security for the hotel (then the Aston). We always loved the atmosphere, the service, the food and especially the live music, which was always the main attraction for us. I'm pleasantly surprised to say that nothing has changed. A coworker and I visited Tiki's twice during a recent work trip, and the quality of everything is just as good as I remember, if not better. I also loved the "new" covering over the dining area; it adds a fresh touch without losing the familiar vibe I loved years ago. Andre was our server both times, and he was fantastic, professional, attentive, and still so down-to-earth in his connection. The three-piece band on Sunday evening was great as well! I even requested a song I could hula to, and they played it without hesitation. The regulars shared that they come every Sunday just to see them, what a wonderful weekly treat. To drink, I had a Lava Flow (I had to) and my husband had the most delicious Painkiller - it even came with an actual syringe of rum to add to it, which he loved. I would go back for the Painkiller alone!
