Uni

Such a great deal for those who want Uni in large quantities instead of just a tiny piece. This place is tucked away in the back of a market so it's easy to miss's

Been to this place a couple times. It's in a market called Mitsuwa at the International Market Place, second floor. Unfortunately the four star is for pricing vs portions. I understand that the uni, scallops, etc are imported but at least give a portion that is worth the price. I have only tried their onigir's here and the rice vs protein portion is off. The protein is whatever can fit on top of the rice. Like last night I got the butterfish because it was the best seller and it came with 3 very small slices of butterfish. I've also tried the unagi and uni onigiri's. All are really good and fresh but small portions. Service is good. There is a language barrier so be patient. Everything is made to order. There is a seating area they share with two other restaurants. Parking validation up to two hours I believe.

Uni and Scallops straight from Hokkaido! We got a wide variety of their premium, made to order musubis such as the miso butterfish, saba, scallops and kombu, and their simpler ones like their mentaiko and kombu. For $50, we got their medium seafood box which came with Uni and scallops straight from Hokkaido, Japan, along with some ikura and salmon. Overall the fish was so fresh and delicate. The box was a bit small which is to be expected with this type of meal, but I do wish the rice quality was better since it was a bit compact. I was still a bit hungry after our meal, so it's definitely more a quick snack or light meal if anything! I probably would try a different spot next time if I'm craving seafood or musubis, but it's worth a try if you're walking around International Marketplace.

They do not serve you, they do not take cash, uni was not of quality for the price. Maybe just stick to their onigiri. Very underwhelming experience. Will not be giving my money to them again.

So small for $57

The uni and ikura were delicious. Hokkaido uni never disappoints. Always sweet, mild and creamy. The ikura had a good pop and was not too overly salty with a balanced flavor. The rice was of good quality and cooked to the perfect amount of chewiness. It's located at the back of Mitsuwa market in waikiki along with other eateries. I believe they do parking validation for international marketplace. First hour free, 2nd and 3rd hour for $2 per hour. My only problem with this place is the price. You can see in my pics for a small "medium" ikura and uni box it cost a whopping $57, and it's not like they packed it with uni and ikura; I could see white space (rice) in my bowl. I remember a few months back when they had the ramen festival uni pop up each weekend, I could get more Hokkaido uni and ikura for $40, which made more sense to me than this. For that reason, I don't think I'll order this again. The value is poor. Well, at least I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl.

Wagyu bowl and uni ikura bowl

Unikura is located inside of Mitsuwa in the international marketplace (2nd floor). They're tucked away in the back of the store among a few other food places. I originally decided to go because I won an IG drawing for their uni ikura bowl so we went to try it. I don't really eat uni or ikura (my friend ate most of it) but I did try it and it was good! It tasted super fresh and not overly fishy/salty. We also ordered the wagyu bowl, which I was most excited for. And it did not disappoint. The meat was so tender and cooked well. The extra toppings helped, but you really didn't need it to enjoy the bowl. I know it's a bit expensive, but the dishes are quality and worth it to me. I would definitely come back again!

What the wagyu bento actually look like. The picture was misleading

If you ever go into International Market place, there is a Japanese Supermarket call Mitsuwa Marketplace. This place has a lot of Japanese food and needs. There is a new restaurant that opened up and had to try it. Some Hawaii influencer came here and mentioned the food was good. The influencer even got the Wagyu Beef Bento, which looks so good! But it doesn't seem I had the same experience as the food influencer. I walked over slowly and was looking at the menu and the lady at the cashier felt a bit pressuring or in a hurry. It felt like she was rushing me to order when I wanted to take my time to look at the menu. She kept asking me what I wanted and I let her know I'm not sure and wanted to look at the menu...I did ask if they do take out and they don't usually do because it's suppose to eat fresh there. Which is understandable. I ordered the Wagyu Beef Bento and also the Uni/Ikura small bowl. They separated the uni and Ikura from the rice, which is nice so it doesn't touch the hot rice until you are ready to eat. When I ate the uni and Ikura, it did taste fresh. The one concern I had was the wagyu bento...it did not look like the bento in the picture that they are advertising. I also seem to have a smaller portion of meat and the meat didn't look as healthy as the picture. For the price, it is expensive. The Wagyu bento was over $35+ and the small uni/ikura was $20. Overall the experience was okay. I wouldn't say it was the best but not the worse either. Probably would come back if my family or friends want to try it out.

A small takeout counter inside Mitsuwa. Their uni is very fresh and sweet. I believe it's from Hokkaido. The butterfish onigiri is so so very delicious. There is a small area w tables to enjoy your goodies.

Located in the food court of Mitsuwa in the International Market Place. Across from the Mott Cat Cafe. Not much to say. Good food, reasonable prices. Lovely presentation. Wished I had a kitchen (hotel, boo) so that I can purchase some of that wagyu to cook and eat in comfort. Will definitely make another visit. Hope they're here for a long time.

Uni and butterfish onigiri

Uni was soo fresh and delicious. My husband doesn't like uni so it was nice that they had other options as well. We ended up with one unigiri and two butterfish onigiri. Both were amazing.

Quality is relatively good; not as good as high grade uni you'd see at a reputable sushi restaurant but it's sweet and not bitter.

This is the trifecta people want when they go to a restaurant and Herringbone has exceeded my expectations. I had the potato crusted tuna and I devoured every last crumb on my plate. The fish was cooked to perfection so much so that it melted in my mouth. It was amazing. I do not say the lightly because just two nights ago I had an "organic macadamia nut crusted fresh catch" at a ward restaurant and the fish was dry which left me disappointed. I highly recommend you try this restaurant. Trust me and if you don't, it's your loss.

There was one other table when we arrived, so busy-ness was not an excuse. We stood at the front while the servers talked and ignored us. After being seated, it took about 10 min for the server to greet us, another 20 min to get drinks, and then about 20 more min for the food. No sense of urgency, minimal concern for taking our order or greeting us, and he had to be reminded about a few items we ordered or asked for. It's a beautiful spot, but the service is why I likely won't be back.

Excellent…read morelocation and highly recommend walking there if you are staying close by the Kalākaua Ave. There are very limited dining area so we decided to order to go. We were also able to order online and the process was seamless. We have ordered the most expensive lobster roll, which I believe has 1/2 pounds of lobster. The lobster itself was super fresh and the texture is great. You can taste the freshness from the food and you know that the lobster is not previously frozen. Although the price is close to $80 for one lobster roll, the portion is huge. It can easily feed 2 adults. We enjoyed our experience overall but will opt for the smaller option next time haha

You can also buy just the cooked lobster meat: 1/2 lb (8 oz) for $75.00 They have can drinks such as sodas (including Hawaiian sodas) and beer. The roll was actually quite tasty! I was able to experiment with different flavors with the Old Bay seasoning, garlic mayo, lemon, and butter. The garlic mayo was surprisingly good with the lobster. You can also throw the Old Bay seasoning on the chips if you're in the mood. The price is pretty steep which was my mistake. I don't know what I was expecting when ordering lobster in Waikiki. The lady at the cash register was less than pleasant and helpful so it makes spending that money feel a little more painful. If you can afford it and are really craving a lobster roll, this should satiate you. I didn't feel like I needed more to eat after finishing my meal. Location: The store is located in the Royal Hawaiian shopping center. You have to take a staircase from the first floor to a lower floor to get to it. You may need to ask around for directions. The restaurant is super small. Maybe two or 3 small tables that can fit no more than 6-8 people.
