It was different than the other trips in that I would describe it as a road trip with friends. We met in Barcelona where we rented two vans. We started up in Andorra, traveled down through Spain, ZIPLINED from Spain into Portugal (!!), then drove up through Portugal to our final destination in Porto. Due to the road trip nature of this trip, we had a lot of flexibility in how we approached the itinerary. It was so jam-packed with places to see that it was almost overwhelming - in a good way! We saw castles, cathedrals, Basilicas, palaces, and gardens galore! We did too many things to list all of it here, but my favorites included exploring the underwater river, spending the night in a castle, exploring sea caves along the coast in a Zodiak speedboat, the cultural shows, ziplining across the Spain/Portugal border, hiking moorish castle grounds, exploring the villages & towns we passed through... As always, the people in the group were a lot of fun. I knew a few from previous trips & made new friends as well. There were three couples, and the others were a good mix of solo men & women. I'm guessing the ages ranged from 40s to 70s. I loved the diversity of this group. Eduardo (1000 Treks owner) did another amazing job of putting together an interesting, unique, affordable itinerary. I love how he arranges everything and all I have to do is show up at the designated meeting time each day. I also appreciate the flexibility. For example, if a planned activity falls outside of my comfort zone, I can skip it and do my own thing. I also commend Eduardo for how he manages conflict. Any trip of this magnitude (3+ weeks) is bound to produce a hiccup or two. Eduardo went above and beyond to make sure everyone was satisfied and taken care of. I highly recommend traveling with Eduardo & 1000 Treks. I've loved every trip (I should say adventure!) and I won't trust my travel dollars with anyone else. One of my favorites was the guided cave hike, which felt intimate and personalized, more of a 1-on-1 experience than a generic group tour. The same goes for the scenic treks in both the Sweden and Finland Laplands, biking through nature on e-bikes, alternating between hot saunas and icy plunges, visiting the Ice Hotel amongst other activities. These aren't your typical travel excursions, they're immersive, off-the-beaten-path moments that stick with you. It was a bit challenging at first (my body definitely felt it!), but I quickly adapted and came home stronger, more energized, and so fulfilled. If you aren't feeling the mimosas they also have a full bar but it will cost you. As soon as you start boarding they will greet you at the door with your glass of champagne. Then you walk 3 steps in further and there is another staff member who will give you a ticket with a number that's your table. In our case we had to go upstairs with that little piece of paper and a server upstairs greeted us and showed us to our table very quickly. Then almost immediately our server who was going to be attending us for the next two hours greeted us and offered more champagne. I mean they kept our glass full entire time we were there. Amazing service. It is not just brunch there are also plenty of non-breakfast items. If you're seated on the first or second floor, make sure you visit both floors for food because each floor offers different options. And you are welcome to both ofc. And don't forget to walk around (leave your table) while the cruise is going around the marina for 2 hours. You want to visit the top deck. That's where the beautiful views are. Plenty where to sit too up there. This was our first time and it will not be my last. Also it is family friendly so if you want to take your kids you can. Except I didn't see any kids when I went. So keep that in mind.

Had so much fun hang gliding today. We took off at a little over 3500 feet and were able to climb…read moreto over 4000 feet. We were higher than the airplanes on landing approach to Burbank airport. We flew with some turkey vultures in the area. This is the closest experience to flying like a bird. My instructor has flown over 10000 flights so I was in good hands. Lately I've been doing a lot of daredevil activities and came across hang gliding. I previously did…read moreparagliding at La Jolla it was okay but hang gliding seemed to be more fun and extreme. I arrived at the glider port and then the instructor who was very nice Andy the owner came. We took a 40m drive to the glider port the team set everything up. Watched video on a iPad for quick training it was very simple instructions even kids can learn. We were up 35-40 high went fast, circled around and landed on the ground safe. Willie was my tandem pilot his landing style is very graceful and you land on your feet while Andy the former airplane pilot expert likes to land on wheels it was pretty cool. I'm really excited to get home and watch the gro pro footages of our mountain tandem hang gliding.

We were scheduled to go to Namibia and South Africa with Alan and a group of people but now that people aren't allowed to enter the foreign countries we asked for our money back. Unfortunately what we were offered for a refund was way less than what we paid. I do not have a job and can not afford anything less than my entire refund. I will not be doing business with this company again and would not recommend anyone else to do so either. I am very frustrated that after paying thousands of dollars for 50 percent of the entire cost of a three week trip abroad that we could barely get any of our money back. Alan did offer credit towards rescheduling but with everyone's schedule being different next year we could not easily reschedule. Half a star, or maybe even 1/4 if I could.

My wife and I had always wanted to visit Italy, it was our dream and at the top of our list. We…read morehadn't had a proper vacation since pre-covid and were itching to go. But every time I thought about planning the trip I was overwhelmed. Not only does everyone have an opinion about where to go, where to stay and how to do it, but the number of potential places to visit in such a vast and beautiful country, with so much great history, food and wine is incredibly large. Before I let another year fly by without making the trip, I decided to reach out to CharlieTheTraveler and it turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Charlie and his team started by asking what KIND of trip I wanted and built an itinerary based on the feedback I gave.
