Gary showed up as scheduled for a cleaning, but discovered that our house had a non-standard installation which was a fire hazard. A previous unaffiliated worker years ago had covered the dryer duct outlet "to prevent birds" after removing some dead birds during a cleaning. That cover ended up doing the opposite of its intended purpose, since it became a nest which completely blocked the outlet. Bird related debris dropped into the attic due to a lack of sealed gaps around the pipe. Gary offered to fix this issue on the same day for safety's sake, although it was an estimated day's work. It was already midday and he'd have to get parts, so I told him it wasn't urgent and scheduled a return visit a few days later. He showed up with a partner and they got the job done in a few hours. Throughout the process, Gary kept me informed of what they were doing, showing me what they were removing and what they were installing. I've seen some workers get uncomfortable being watched, but he made sure I was aware of everything going on. I had an excellent experience working with Gary from Dream Chimney over the course of three separate visits. From the initial inquiry, his communication was prompt and professional--he alerted me when he was on the way and arrived as scheduled. On the first visit, he tackled a very challenging dryer vent cleaning job. The vent had multiple bends and an exterior exhaust located high on the side of the house, but he handled it thoroughly and safely. During the second visit, he and a helper cleaned the HVAC air handler, the exterior condenser unit, and the ductwork throughout that area of the house. He took the time to explain what he was doing, pointed out any concerns, made sure everything was cleaned properly before finishing, and provided before and after pictures of the work. On the final visit, he cleaned the chimney and repaired the crown that had been the source of leaks during rainstorms. Gary and the team from Dream Chimney & Air Duct are lifesavers! I mean, literally. I think I've been to almost every doctor in the county with breathing problems and allergies. Well... we found mold in the ducts. When Gary popped open the supply box, he found a replaceable filter we didn't even know existed, that had fallen through, not filtering anything. And, the edges of the supply boxes were flapping in the outside air, just letting in pollen and who knows what al. Gary had to rebuild some of it, re insulate some of it, re tape and seal some of it. I'm not even telling you how filthy it was or about the state of the attic. Gary listed what all was wrong, demonstrated all the way through that our system was now in good hands, fixed and improved everything, added a top of the line UV light, and shared photos and updates at every step to keep us informed. We noticed this morning that the primary drain for our AC system was blocked. It was draining out the backup drain. Sure enough the pan was half full.
