My dryer out of nowhere stopped drying. It wasn't a slow process. It just stopped drying after I had done several loads that day. I called Richard after seeing all the great reviews. I called him around 3PM and he let me know he would be able to come out the next day between 2-5. Richard called before heading over to my house. He arrived a little before 2PM. After opening up my dryer he showed me all lint that had built up and showed me where it was starting to catch fire. He immediately knew he needed to replace a part to get the heat going again. Fortunately he had the part on him. I could have probably cleaned the dryer myself from all the lint, dust, etc. but this was the first cleaning it's had since 2018. I wanted a thorough cleaning and he did just that very quickly. He was great about explaining everything he was doing. I could be mistaken but other companies charge you for coming out and it goes towards the service, but I don't think Richard charges for the assessment and is very up front about everything. I'll be honest I wasn't expecting too much by getting this service done. Really quick job and hoped we would get someone who knew what to do. Instead we had the owner himself come out and he was very easy to talk to. I didn't have anyone else come out to look at our dryer so I can't really compare, but if you're on the fence on who to go with Richard is your guy! It's no wonder he has so many 5 star reviews. Had contacted Richard in 2023 to fix my dryer vent cap on my roof since the builder had put the wrong type of cap. He responded very quickly and his quote was very competitive. He came on schedule, efficiently installed the new vent cap and ensured there were no leaks or issues. He also cleaned the dryer vent and the dryer. I contacted him again recently to clean my dryer vent since I was getting an error and dryer was not doing a great job. He came that same day and worked on cleaning the vent and the dryer of debris and lint. He was great and efficient as usual. This Friday, as we were getting the house maid-ready for the holidays and washing all of the house bedding, our "top of the line" from eight years ago Electrolux dryer lost its dang mind. It started howling to the high heavens! Terrible timing, for sure, but we figured that it was time to head to Lowe's and upgrade the whole set, which would definitely be a pretty penny! My husband had drill yesterday, so, as I was home alone, I turned on the dryer again, just to be sure that it was still monstrous, and it was! It occurred to me that it could perhaps be fixed to hold us over until after the holidays, rather than summarily scrapped. It was worth a shot, so I took to the Yelp and found Richard and Proud Appliance & Dryer Vent Services! I requested a quote, and he replied in, literally, three minutes! I asked him if it was possible for him to come today (this was at 1pm yesterday), so I could maybe surprise my husband with a fixed dryer before he came home from Camp Mabry. He said that he'd be at our house by 3pm, and he was! He is the NICEST guy, y'all! He got to work right away breaking down our Electrolux, which was no small feat! He let me know that, if he could fix it, he'd charge a VERY fair price (shockingly fair), and, if he couldn't, there would be NO charge! Wha??? SO awesome, and almost unheard of in this day and age! He replaced all of the rollers, saw no obvious damage, shop-vacced the whole inside, and put it back together again. We both held our breath as he started it, and....alas! The persistent monster reared its head again! Boo hiss! He was so apologetic, which was completely unnecessary! He said that our best two options were to A. Get a new motor and blower (if it's cost-effective) or B. Get a whole new set. He's looking into cost on the new motor set up, and he'll text us today. We'll then be fully informed about what to do! True to Richard's word, after giving me his recommendations, he packed up and said "absolutely no charge"! It warmed the very cockles of my heart! (I still tipped him, though, of course! He earned it!) Looooooooooong story short, knowledge is everything, and my husband and I now feel MUCH better about dropping cash on a fancy new washer and dryer set (if we need to) because we'll KNOW that we really need to! My Samsung dryer was making a terribly loud noise in the cycle, so I reached out to Proud Appliance as one of the options recommended by Yelp - I couldn't have been more pleased with Richard's response time and work ethic! In a busy time of year, he was quick to get me on the schedule and willing to work on Samsung (which I have found isn't always the case). When he arrived he was professional, kind, knowledgeable, and honest. He quickly figured out the cause (which was pretty extensive), showed and explained the issue as well as my options, and was able to take care of the repair while he was on site for an affordable price. He recommended I get my dryer vent/duct cleaned to prolong the life of my dryer, explained why, and showed me why it was a concern for my setup specifically. I never felt pushed or pressured, and he was quick to offer to return to do that once we considered it. Richard is a gem. He's super friendly, honest, trustworthy, efficient, punctual, skilled, strong - he ticks all the boxes. His work is also very affordable. He thoroughly cleaned my dryer vent and dryer and explained everything he was doing, and we then arranged for him to come out and install my new microwave, which Best Buy refused to install for no good reason (they said I needed to install tile all the way up the wall behind the microwave so the surface would be even). Richard explained why this is a load of crap, and said they often try to get out of doing installs so they can go to more appointments during the day, because the 3rd party company Best Buy uses gets paid whether or not they install the microwave. He did a very good job at installing the microwave and building the custom box for the exhaust i'm the cabinet above the microwave. He also told me how to fix my flickering refrigerator light myself and found the part I need to buy and showed me how to get it cheap. If you're on the fence about getting Richard out to do your installs / repairs / maintence, I highly recommend giving him a shot! read more

For the last few weeks, my washer seemed to get louder during the spin cycle and started to leak from the bottom of the washer. Upon inspection and taking the cover off the back of the washer, I noticed rust in the back of the washer where the leak appeared to be coming from. I reached out to Richard via the Yelp quote function to determine if he was able to fix the washer. In return, he advised me of his flate rate to look at the washer (75.00). Once I showed him the photos via the quote function, Richard advised that I required a part to fix the machine and that he wouldn't be able to fix the machine. While Richard hasn't actually fixed my washer, what I did appreciate was his quick response and honesty. I have found that often, when receiving quotes, many businesses will take consumers' money even though the problem the consumer has isn't fixable or, in my case, requires a major part to be fixed. Honestly, truth can come in bad news and how it is relayed. And when is the last time you got bad news from a repairman and no bill? THIS. GUY. IS. GOOD. It is strange, but sometimes appliances become as common and comfortable as a couch. You don't want them to wear out and you can't imagine what the room would look like without them. So, if someone comes into your home and declares them DOS they better be trustworthy. Richard is trustworthy. My clothes washer decided the spin cycle would go warp drive all the time. And NOISY!! I texted Richard on a Friday. He got back to me within minutes that night and texted me again over the weekend to schedule an appointment. He accommodated my schedule and promptly arrived at the scheduled time. Here's the deal. My "high tech" washer of 13 years ago would have to have it's whole top control panel replaced. The motor was magnetic so no belts or other controllers. The electronics were impossible to find alone. We looked online together and only found refurbished units at same price as new washers. But he pointed me in directions to find quality, warehouse deals. Richard was the undertaker who left without a bill. I offered to pay him for the time and expertise but he said he didn't do anything, just inspected the job and told me the truth. Ashes to ashes. Suds to suds. Long may my new washer live. Our dryer was not drying, so we had contacted Richard for a visit. He was easy to reach, prompt with his replies and was able to get us on his schedule quickly. He worked quickly, and pulled what looked like years of lint from our dryer vent. He also checked out the duct on the roof and discovered that the company that had most recently done our roof had installed an incorrect duct that was retaining lint rather than allowing it to pass. Replacing the duct was a service he provided, however, he told us that it was the responsibility of the roofers to install the correct duct and that there was no statute of time limitation for this service. I had such an odd experience with Richard. He came to look at our washer issue and found we needed a new motor for it. He asked for my credit card info over the phone to order the part before doing any work. I was driving at the time, so asked for a link to pay, or if he could just include it in the final invoice like most services do, or worst case I could call and order the part directly form the supplier. He then got super defensive and flipped out on me yelling, "Haven't you read my reviews online?!! You don't trust me?!" and ended the conversation abruptly asking me to order the part from the supplier and he'd come back in 2 days to install it. I then called the supplier, had the part ready for him and called and texted him back 30 minutes later, with no response. Sure enough, he didn't show up Wednesday and gave us no warning or cancellation. Now we have to find a new service, cancel the part and delay the project another week. We didn't end up using Proud Appliance Services to fix our dishwasher. Richard called me back and let me know that I should use a certified technician who is trained to work on my specific dishwasher (BOSH). Apparently they have a lot of tricky sensors and are hard to work on. I really appreciate it his honesty and advice. Great communication and more importantly someone I'd trust. Our induction stove blew out after 5-6 years (this is the replacement for the first one, which blew out after 2 weeks). I looked at the fault code, investigated, watched some Youtube videos, thought about fixing it myself, and decided it was too much work so I asked for quotes from various repair places on Yelp. This company was both the quickest to respond and the most willing in discussing the issue first instead of just coming in to look (which would have been a trip charge for looking at what I could just send a picture of). Richard was great about discussing the issue via text/phone, we agreed on the problem, and he went ahead and ordered. The replacement part (according to the fault code) came in, he replaced it... and it blew again. So clearly there was something else wrong. He was just going to eat the $400 cost of the brand new board since he didn't fix the stove; this shows a level of integrity it's rare to see these days. I couldn't let him do that of course, but he still did eat the time he wasted trying to fix the problem. We had an issue with the dryer, and were referred to Richard at Proud Appliance. It just so happen he was available late afternoon. At the scheduled time, he showed up and went straight to it. He assessed issue within 5 minutes. It turned out our dryer vent was overly clogged, even though we've had previous yearly cleanings. We thought the previous company was cleaning, but how Richard cleaned the vent system... I'd never seen before. It wasn't just exhaust pipe out of house. It wasn't just lint trap.
