I had a great experience working with Morrison Heating and Air. They came and diagnosed the unit a few months ago and charged up the system and it kept on going for a few months while they got the replacement coil under warranty. They persevered with working with Lennox whom I would never recommend to any one and they managed to get the part for me. Installation date took a while since I was out of town quite a bit but when they came they did a good job and were very friendly and patiently explained a lot of things to me. Also their prices are very fair. You need to watch out for many other HVAC companies in Texas now. Many smaller independents and even medium sized ones have venture capitalists that have bought them and essentially creating monopolies that jack the prices sky high. One quote I received was ~$3400 for labor and gas only where these guys were less than a third of that and I had two other companies quote. I could not believe how much people were charging for just labor and R410a. I always research things very thoroughly and know what it takes to replace things. I am willing to pay but not willing to be ripped off. When I checked further into why prices are so high is when I stumbled on venture capitalists buying into Texas AC businesses. They know Texans need their AC. Enough of ranting .. this is to say Morris Heating and Air is excellent. They are fair and down to earth guys. read more

Terrible experience. This company was hired by the buyers of our home to do a "pre-sale" inspection. The tech came out and looked at our 3 AC and heat units. On one of our units, he put in his report that the unit was putting out 2PPM Carbon Monoxide and "by law had to be condemned" and he disabled system. He also wrote in his notes" "Systems are 20 years old and should be replaced anyway". He then put an estimate for over 21k of AC equipment. I did some research and found that at 2PPM Carbon Monoxide he had no right to disable or "condemn" system. I called the tech and he apologized and said he would come "right away and hook unit back up". The damage was done. The buyer backed out of the contract and we lost the sale of our home and the purchase of a home we had bought. We had another HVAC company come out and look at system. System needed a drip pan and float switch but was displacing "NO Carbon Monoxide". He said maybe the other companies meters are set to detect high levels so they can make a sale based on fear. I called Morrison's HVAC and asked for the license number of the person that did the inspection as I said I was filing a complaint. They gave me the license number. When I looked up the license, it turns out, this technicians license had been expired 2 weeks prior to the inspection of my system. The company has called and let me know the tech was wrong and that they had terminated him. However, the heartache, frustration, worry (are we poisoning our family with Carbon Dioxide?), and the loss of the buyer on our home which led to the loss of the purchase of the other home. This has been a costly ordeal. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone for any work on HVAC. Of note, the tech who said I had Carbon Monoxide never took pictures of the meter showing so. I think he was trying to make a sale based on "fear". It was wrong and has caused much angst. read more

After buying a new home, we noticed the A/C wasn't cooling so I called Morris to check the system. It was a zone system which I had never had before so based on some other yelp reviews, I was hoping to get some education on it. I called and made an appointment, although I think the other person was in an attic or something because he asked me to text him the details we had agreed upon. At 8:30am on the morning of the appointment, I texted to confirm and got no response for 2 hours. Eventually I got a response saying that someone was on their way. After waiting more, I had to leave the house. My wife said that the young technician was rude. He looked things over, said everything was working fine, and charged us $119. I figured that it must just be the way the house was built that the upstairs gets hot during the summer and lived with it for a couple of months until things got *really* bad. I contacted Miller Climate Control and learned that the blower motor was bad (you should have heard the noise!), most likely because the bypass damper was installed upside down (meaning that it was always open), there was a big leak in one of the zones, and the zone controllers weren't oriented properly to fully open/close. This is all stuff that I learned from working with Miller -- before this experience, I couldn't have told you what a bypass damper was. Basically I had a badly installed/configured A/C that was doing more to cool the attic than my house. Call me crazy, but when I call a professional to inspect the system to make sure it's working properly, I expect them to notice things like the bypass damper being open all the time so that the unit is going to burn itself out! read more

Basically it was shaking the whole house so I had turned it off when i got home from work. Went online and found this company and gave him a call. He was at my house within the hour and had diagnosed and showed me exactly what he found. The blower motor bracket had broken and there was oil leaking in the unit. Also the blower fan blade welds came undone from the force of the violent shaking of the motor with 1 of 4 brackets broken. He wrote down my model number and came back the next day. He picked up the part & installed them within an hour of arrival. He also was able to unclog one of my drain pipes from the unit which was great as I did not know it was clogged, and also check the other basic things for my 2 units (upstairs, downstairs) like freon levels, etc. read more

This is a 7 year update on the HVAC unit that was installed by Morris Heating and air. AC stopped cooling last night and I put in a call to get it looked at. Morris heating and Air could not come out until sometime later today. I called another AC company who made it to my house by 10:30 A.M. Capacitor was bad and it was low 2.5 lbs on Freon. Problem with being low on Freon is that there must be a leak and the coils are leaking. They checked the warranty only to find out that the HVAC unit was NEVER registered. I texted David who told me it is the homeowners responsibility to register the unit. Huh?? I talked to two other AC companies and they all register the equipment so that the owner gets the extra full warranty. So needless to say, warranty ran out last year, but if it was registered it would be covered under that warranty. So to replace the coils, it will be 2 to 3K and about a quarter of putting in a brand new system. So whoever you go with for your new AC install, make sure to ask if they register your unit for the extra warranty and if they don't ask them why? Why would a company your paying thousands of dollars to install a new system, not register the hardware for extra warranty protection. read more

Highly recommend these guys. At least I assume it's not a one-man operation since they're on call 24/7. Our a/c went out this afternoon and by 9pm when we noticed it was 82 degrees inside I figured we were boned. Wrong. So wrong. My special man friend found Morris after yelping and gave it a shot. The dude answered, said he'd be over in about an hour and he was. I didn't even see this guy, he was in and out. Fixed us right up and was on his way. Whole thing was faster and less painful than a trip to the dentist. I'm incredibly thankful I'll be able to sleep tonight in a cool bed and not a sweat lodge. Rate wasn't bad either. Everything a/c related is expensive and they will charge a diagnostic fee, but it's reasonable for immediate service like this! read more

David Morris' company installed a new air conditioning unit and furnace in our house in May 2013. Although he said he would install it himself he had two young men do it who were under his employ. He did not supervise their work. After the unit was done I noticed extremely loud noises vibrating through the ac unit and in my house. The noises are industrial sounding. Every time the ac unit kicks on the vibrating and clanking noise starts and it doesn't go away until the unit turns off when it has reached the appropriate temperature. I contacted David about this noise and the vibrations that could be felt. He came to my house and acknowledged the very loud noise and vibrations. He said he thought it was the copper pipes that connect from the new ac unit. He said he couldn't make the right adjustments at that time but that he would be back to fix it. He has never returned. I've contacted him at least 5 different times asking him to come and fix the noise and vibration issue. He doesn't respond. One time in November 2013 a lady in his office called me after reading my email I sent them. She said she talked to David and David said a noise-cancelling fixture needed to be installed and it hasn't arrived from the company that makes them. She said David would call me to discuss but he never did. The noise has not been fixed. Now that the weather has warmed up again the vibrating and noise issues are really severe and an all day thing. I contacted him a few weeks ago asking for him to fix the noise issue. He hasn't responded. I have a one year labor and parts guarantee with him and he has not honored it. To top it off, he's even sent me a flyer trying to sell me on their extended service contract! I can't even get him to service the contract I already have with him and he's trying to sell me an extended warranty? Surprisingly, I noticed he advertises himself as Better Business Bureau Accredited yet the BBB does not recognize his company as accredited. These are the dates I've contacted him. They aren't lying when they say 24/7! We discovered our AC pan overflowing the other evening, called after 7:30 and someone actually answered. They came by after finishing another job, blew out both lines and vacuumed up all of the water from the pan and attic floor. It was so late that Dave's wife called wondering where he was. Who does that and still charges less than $100?? We are having him come back to replace the float switch. read more

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! Initially they seemed great and said they would come back to repair a part. I had to call several times to get them out and they did not come at the scheduled time. I was willing to let this go. However, the part the OWNER installed did not function appropriately and my a/c overflowed. When we called because the part did not work he made a bunch of vague promises to come out and fix it and never did. We have tried calling them for MONTHS and no one answers when we call or answers any of our numerous messages! Dishonest company. Does not stand behind their work. Poor customer service. We had rats in the attic that resulting in replacing our AC entire duct work, as well as a few registers. David did a good job assessing the work required, and serviced some additional AC work that needed correction/updates. I'm writing this review a year after the repairs, and based on some follow-up AC duct related challenges. David is a very nice and honest guy, however, after getting recent service work done, I feel we were overcharged for his services. I own part of this since I didn't get a second estimate at the time. I also recently learned that we could have gotten some rebates from the City of Austin for the duct work, but David never mentioned this at the time as a savings opportunity. In addition, we recently had an energy audit performed. The result was that our 1-year old duct leakage was over 30% (this was confirmed by two separate company assessments). As a result we used another copmany to seal all new air duct leaks with mastic, and all register/duct connections. The system is now at 9% leakage. My concern is why the air-duct sealing wasn't done as part of the initial air duct installation performed by Morris Heating & Air a year ago? read more

Spent 800 in repairs and still didnt fix the problem. I called morris and told them how frustrated I was that nobody could fix my AC and had been without ac for several weeks. George came out that afternoon and worked until around 6p or so and we both thought it was fixed, but around 7ish I realized the house was getting hot and thought, "man I bet it's tomorrow before it can be repaired " (and it was already close to 100 degrees in the house). But I called anyway and w/ in 10 min David had called me back and said, "let me see what I can do"....10 min after that George called and said, "I'm on my way....it's important to note here that he was in SOUTH Austin, I was in Georgetown! Three stars because we did not use him so I can not speak to his work. Never got further than the phone call. I found him on Red Beacon(A big thing home depot is pushing right now) Went to his website, all looked good. Googled him and found him on yelp. Saw someone else that had the same issue as me and said he was under $100 to fix, over flowing a/c drain pan and needing the lines flushed. He quoted $69 to come out and an additional $110 to blow out the drain. He is a lot higher than other companies I have called so far this morning so if he's your first call, try other companies too. Christianson Plumbing and A/C quoted $69 to come do it all. Since they are a bigger company I thought they would be a good starting point but so far our lowest bid. On another note he answered his phone quickly(11am on a Wednesday) and was polite. read more

After 2 failed attempts with the previous co. to find out the problem, David came out and diagnosed the problem within an hour of being in my attic. I called David @ 7:30 in the morning after reading the reviews left here on Yelp to come out and take a look at my A/C unit that had stopped functioning in the middle of the night. David answered the early morning phone call and told me that he would be out to take a look just as soon as he could. When David arrived he seemed to know what the problem was (based on my husband's verbal description) before he even open the unit. As he worked, David explained the possible problems and the remedies available as well as sharing his seemingly vast knowledge of tricks to maximize the efficiency of our A/C unit as well as keeping our monthly energy costs down. David also offered to check the freon level of the unit ( at no additional cost over the service call price) while he explained that the parts he uses are American made and have a MUCH longer life span than the more common imported parts. He was absolutely professional and very pleasant. Dave Morris is the kind of guy I like: he is smart and competent, tells you what you need to know about your choices and does a thoroughly professional job of installing a new air conditioner. I called him while my old one was still working, so no emergency, but I could tell that our 15-year-old unit was failing and I didn't want to wait. Dave did a temporary fix, gave me my options and then did a very thorough, neat and tidy job of installing our new system, at a price not cheap but comparable to similar well-rated systems. He even noted how previous installers had left open places hidden from my view that allowed rats and squirrels to get into our house. Dave did a great job, for an extra fee, of cleaning up all the mess and then completely sealed up all the openings with animal-proof stuff. Dave is a knowledgeable and humble guy who takes pride in his work (something kind of rare these days) and he does not install low quality equipment.
