Preventative maintenance is the backbone of Lantz Home Services. Once again being part of their PM program I avoided a complete shutdown of our grinder pump. Lantz Master Plumber Justin Barnett arrived and I thought all was well until he requested that I take a "peek" into what I would describe as a total catastrophe about to happen at any moment. The grinder system was a horror of failing pump and sewage accumulation and related nasties. Justin told me my options from doing nothing to fixing it with 3 options, which were clearly defined with costs and various replacement components and when it would be finished. We chose wisely. Justin returned with all of the components and in 4 hours it was stripped completely and reassembled with new components. Justin is organized, articulate, educated and polite. Strange. Initially helpful and sent a tech out quickly. First tech diagnosed the HVAC issue as TXV replacement needed. Then I was told I actually needed a second more thorough inspection for a leak. The quote for the leak search was $2K "discounted" to $550.00 to "earn my business". Was told there was a leak in the evaporator coil following that second service. Received a written quote to replace both which was $1K more than they had told me over the phone. I requested a call from someone who could walk me through the difference. Followed up on that request twice and they just never called back. Got second opinion from very reputable competitor that was $1400 less for the exact same repair. Just didn't feel legit. read more

Extremely and unreasonably expensive, otherwise the service was really good. They charged $1359 to dig a 2ftx2ftx2f deep hole with a shovel and repair a section of a 3" x 1ft long PVC line. I don't think it took more than three hours. I should have done the repair myself. read more

Very disappointing experience. Brandon Willie demonstrated poor customer service throughout the visit. He used unprofessional language, arrived in an unclean and unprepared manner, and showed a lack of urgency and efficiency with the work. I called because my heat wouldn't come on. Darren came out right away and climbed up to both heaters on each end of the house and got both of them going in no time at all. I called at 3:33pm about a grinder pump issue, it wouldn't always turn on and had to be reset. They dispatched Zachary to my Lago Vista home at 3:51pm, and I appreciated the email + mobile message notification with name and photo of who to expect. He arrived 13 minutes after being dispatched. Control box diagnosed, pump cap dug up with a shovel, opened, cleaned out and tested, and in around 40 minutes he managed to solve the immediate problem on this old 28 year old pump at a reasonable price without needing a full replacement. Zach also explained a lot about what he was doing and testing for and how the system worked so I learned a lot in the visit as well. All said and done, the visit was around an hour and 15 minutes from the time I first called until he was gone and I was emailed the receipt, what a great service experience! Hopefully this pump will last awhile longer, but when it eventually fails I'll be going back to Lantz for the replacement! read more

The skinny: Lantz employee tried to up sell us for $6K. The novelette: Lantz employee showed up at our home in Lago Vista after both of our toilets were not evacuating. After taking off the top off, the person, actually a bad actor, said that it would be necessary to replace the grinder and electrical wall panel. He acted like someone/something died and the onrushing tsunami of waste was on the move up from below. He did scrape some grease from the walls of the container, did the same on the surface of the pump and cleaned the floats. Total grease ball taken was about 10 oz. Tested the current in the wall panel, said some numbers, declared that unit needed replacement when all that was necessary was to replace the small light bulb ($.59) on the panel face. Hosed everything down with water. When done quoted us $400 then reduced to $250. Many homeowners are terrified of waste back up, jumping in a turd bucket with live electrical connections, finally to surface covered in toilet paper, coffee grounds, and anything else the homeowner could flush, shove, dump, and or permit to eliminate from their premises. How did Lantz come up with the $6,000.00 price? A bargain? A rip off? Astrological advice? I could buy my Italian sports car for that amount. Take some ownership of your waste-it may come back to haunt you! Nothing but toilet paper-no Charmin either. Educate your self on the workings of your household, what has gone on with neighbor's waste systems-offer to buy a lunch for their testimonial, look up prices online. If you got the money, sure, have them do everything that they can get away with, but if you would like to evacuate from your wallet the $6K give it to Northlake so they can pave the parking lot! read more

Even though we already paid contractor, 1 Four Handcrafted for plumbing, Lantz's did not finish the job. They set showers back too far and we had to rip out a bunch of tile to fix it. Cost us even more money. I am much happier with the other plumbing company that we hired to fix the work and finish the job. read more

My septic tank alarm sparked my call to Lantz's Within 12 hrs Brandon was dispatched after the office emailed me a pic and bio. I am happy that my 3 yr old pump was not the cause for the alarm. PVC pipes melted from the recent extreme heat. When the cap was lifted off the tank at 8 am boiling hot water was observed.
