I really don't want this review to sound like I'm knocking the place -- it has many nice things…read moregoing for it. The location is great for being a jumping off point to the Keys. The price was right for a mid-February vacation, one night only here. When we first arrived, we walked all around the building to find the entrance. We couldn't find it, turned around and came back and a nice young man came out of the restaurant door and asked us if we were looking for the hotel. I bet that happens a lot as there is no sign on the door next to the restaurant stating it's the hotel. Once inside, a friendly woman guided us to our first floor room at the back of the building and asked us if it was to our satisfaction. It looked clean so we said yes. The room had standard hotel amenities, including a hair dryer, but also a dehumidifier. The room smelled a little musty, so that's why the dehumidifier is in there. I didn't notice the smell, and my boyfriend only noticed it after we'd been in the room for a while. He said if he'd noticed it right off the bat, we probably would have left. The young man and lady in charge were super nice and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. When we asked about parking, if we could go out to dinner elsewhere and come back and find a spot in the lot, they were a bit iffy. They said the lot can fill up at night so we might not get a spot, but we could park across the street, wait until people left and then move our car back into the lot. But then one of them said if all that fails, we could use a spot nearest the building that really isn't a spot at all, but we could wedge our car into that. Luckily when we came back from dinner, there were at least 3 or 4 spots open. I had used the bathroom before we left for dinner and when we came back we noticed that the toilet was running. There wasn't a Kleenex box in the bathroom. Not a huge deal, just use toilet paper instead. When it came time for sleeping, I had a feeling the blinds on the window weren't going to keep the sun out and I was right. Bring a sleeping mask if you like darkness. Also bring earplugs FOR SURE! The first floor room shares a wall with the kitchen and at the end of the evening when the kitchen workers are cleaning up, you can hear pots and pans banging around, the workers shouting to one another, loud talking, loud laughing, etc. All that noise stops around 11, 11:30 p.m. The air conditioner was loud so we turned it off. There was street noise as well. We chose this place based on location and price; it seemed like a good deal and an interesting stay in a quirky hotel, which sometimes can offset lower quality accommodations if you find the place fun or interesting. So while I recommend this place as not too bad (we've definitely stayed in much worse places) I would advise not staying for more than one night.

We found our room key in the lockbox and headed up the stairs where the rooms were. Upon entering, it smelled of cigarettes. The room is more spacious than I expected. There's a mini fridge, microwave, 2 TVs, coffee pot, ironing board, hangers and a couch. There's also an outdoor seating area, albeit shared with all of your neighbors. It's cleaner than I expected, but we still found a hair in the bed. The bathroom provides a hair dryer, shampoo and soap. However, the towels are very thin and tiny. My bath towel was sopping wet before I could fully dry my hair. There's a door between us and another room that we can hear their conversations very clearly. Also, the restaurant downstairs has live music until 11pm. The wifi doesn't work. Staying one night is OK, but I couldn't do it for longer than that.

A clean place with no snobbish behavior from humble types of wealthy individuals who appear friendly & polite. This place has an amazing, non denominational church for many faiths, an abundant breakfast buffet, lunch & dinner facilities, plenty of banquet halls for events, comfortable rooms with simplistic TV programming, a relaxing outside environment, golf course, health & fitness, beauty industry, and a beautiful marina.

We're adventurous and willing to try things. We roll in and send one brave explorer in first to see if they were even open. Yep! Come on in! Apparently today was their grand re-opening from a fire. We all had pina-coladas some beers,etc. Was it the best pina-colada I've ever had, no. Was it one of the funnest- yes. Just a cool vibe, bunch of family members working. Bartender was super cool. They were setting up for a party. Loved the vibe, the laid back feel and the friendliness. Would love to come back during their busy season - I bet it's a hoot.

Our kids loved the animals -…read moregoats, pigs, bunnies, chickens and two playgrounds, and we all loved the pool and comfortable guest house! The animals are clearly a labor of love for Isa, who spent time answering the hundreds of questions our kids peppered her with. The pool was warm and gorgeous. And the guest house was stocked for breakfast each morning. a PERFECT place to stay near the Everglades (only 10 mins away!). Highly recommend.

Looks like an oasis . Note that there is road noise. Yes there are lights on at night, yes you can hear people above you. It is an older building, charming and with large rooms. All that said it was perfect for us and I could easily stay here for weeks.

The hotel has an earthy, quaint elegance and is maintained in mint condition. Service is consistently excellent. The ambiance is calm and unhurried, with classic Mediterranean Revival architecture--graceful arches throughout and a striking 315-foot copper-toned tower modeled after Seville's Giralda. The lobby is especially memorable: a vaulted ceiling, beautifully detailed, and even two cages housing tropical finches. The lower lobby (downstairs) are boutique shops, La Fontana, and convenient access to the sporting facilities-- pool, poolside café (Cascade), tennis courts, golf course, and Fairways. Check-in is on the slower side, but the staff are polished and attentive, which softens the wait. Room Experience  Room 612 features a long balcony facing the city and excellent soundproofing--quiet and restful. The bathroom is narrow but charming, with earthy tiles that fit the hotel's aesthetic. Water pressure at the sink is impressively strong (good enough to clean rings), though the showerhead is noticeably weak. Towels are plush and absorbent, paired with Lather toiletries. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, and slippers are provided. Tea bags are included, though the Julius Meinl coffee machine's hot water carries a faint coffee taste--not a dealbreaker, just a minor quirk. Ironically, simpler coffee makers tend to produce better neutral hot water. Atmosphere & Stay Notes Interestingly, I didn't notice any corporate events during my stay, which made the hotel feel more private and relaxed--something I appreciated. One Concern One odd issue: I woke up with bites on my upper abdomen. I had opened the window, but the location and pattern are concerning--possibly bed bugs. This is something the hotel should investigate seriously. Bottom Line A beautiful, serene property with standout recreational facilities and refined service. We even were able to host about 50 people for an event hosting our customers. It was the highlight of everyone's weekend and we couldn't have done it without the Modern Mansion of Miami. Additionally, the location is INCREDIBLE. Literally steps away from the beach. The amenities were top notch. You could tell every little detail was thoughtfully executed. Like I said, 10/10. Can't go wrong with the Modern Mansion of Miami!
