I know this sounds dramatic but we have heater issue for the past 3 years and we called many many many different AC/heater companies and no one can figure out. We have Smart thermostat and when we try to turn it on, it goes on by luck or something. Sometimes it will go on after couple tries of turning it off and on and most of the times it doesn't go on. The original AC guy who installed the AC unit 5 years ago said it's cause it's too cold so it doesn't turn on (omg, then what's the point of having a heater). Then we tried others and they either don't really want to help and some comes and look and says change unit and some can't figure out and say they'll come back and never did. 3-4 years of winter and realized how difficult to find someone knowledgeable and honest. Seriously, so hard to find someone "honest". We just end up using portable heater. We were just traumatized looking for anyone by googling, referrals, neighborhood apps, yelping. We really missed the heater and the feeling of warmth when waking up so we decided to try again researching. We had called couple companies and luckily, one of them was Luis. We decided to go with Luis cause he sounded like he knows what he's talking about and sounded he cares about what it's like being cold and needing heat. He even asked about if we are still under warranty! He tried to save us money. And all these years experiencing with all these contractors (licensed), Luis price is reasonable and fair. Coming to our area was out of Luis surrounding area that he services but because he really cares. This is just heater I'm talking about. Don't even get me started about our AC issue which Luis fixed too! I'm writing this review because I know how frustrating and disappointing it gets when trying to find someone who can actually find the problem and fix it and most importantly, honesty. Finding that combo is just not realistic anymore. Forever thankful to Luis. We are now in shorts and T-shirt with heater on in the house. My mini split system was acting up and they came out on two occasions to diagnose the issue and provide options to resolve it. We are still working through the techinical part of the process but I will say that that Robert, Dominique, and especially Kendall have been available and quick to respond to any questions or concerns on my part. My system is not the brand that they recommend or install but they were still willing to come out and look at it to try and fix the issue. Many HVAC repair companies won't even do that. Long story semi-short, my AC of 26 years had been on its last legs since about 2017... I'd been postponing the inevitable with R-22 recharge + leak sealant, with service from a older fellow whom I'd had a great relationship with, for almost a decade. Between 2020 and 2025, all seemed "tolerable" with my old Payne/Carrier AC + furnace. But last fall, it was clear my system had given up the ghost... and unbeknownst to me, the fabulous older gentleman who'd been coming here off and on for years, retired and moved out of state. I needed some new AC geniuses! Let the research and bidding/quoting madness begin! * FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESSES ARE BEST! I know everyone says "go local," and avoid things (giant franchises, etc.) that rhyme with "Bosco," for such an install (as well as gear sharing the first name of a famous 1990s-era heavyweight boxer w/the last name of Lewis). I'll let you imagine how that "almost" experience went... The FAMILY-OWNED business that is GREEN PLANET not only saved me heaps, but educated me about what would truly be needed, to go the "heat pump" route (my initial intention). Given that I have ancient, single-pane windows, and am in a tricky financial spot (I can't really upgrade my insulation to seal up the home to make a heat pump be 100% effective, let alone, replace windows), I ended up going with a rock solid, super efficient, side discharge AC condenser (due to vertical clearance limitations) and a new furnace (more details below). I chose Air Max because of past Yelp Reviews that were largely positive and also because of their…read moreaffiliation with Lowe's who offered interest free financing for two years. The Air Max staff and workers were courteous and responsive to my questions and concerns. However, the quality of work was somewhat disappointing and I give them an average rating. During our in home estimate, the Air Max rep explained to us in detail about the equipment that would be replaced and the amount of work involved. One of the items he included in the contract was a "flat roof pad" on which the several hundred pound HVAC unit would be sitting on. After the installation of the unit, I checked the work and saw that the workers did not install the "flat roof pad" per the contract. Instead, they placed two 2"x 6" boards (which they found on my property and used without my permission) under the front end of the unit to level the HVAC on the slightly pitched roof. The boards were positioned perpendicular to the direction of rainwater drainage. At the back end of the unit, the metal framed HVAC sat on bare asphalt roofing. Thus, this several hundred pound unit was installed on my roof with only two points of contact to support its weight and one of these points consisted of a three foot long, 1/8 inch wide edge of metal frame. I showed a photo of this to a licensed roof contractor and he said that was not an ideal situation. Earthquakes, strong winds, and vibration from the HVAC could cause movement and damage the asphalt roofing. I called Air Max and the workers returned a week later to remedy the install. They installed 2"x4" boards (they brought their own wood this time) and positioned them parallel to the flow of drainage and added vibration dampeners underneath the front end of the HVAC. They secured the HVAC to the 2"x4"s with steel straps but left sharp pieces of steel strap cuttings on the roof. Since the HVAC was now raised about 1 1/2" with the 2"x 4" boards underneath it, I checked the main duct connecting the HVAC to the attic opening and saw a 1/2" gap between the duct and the attic opening, a large enough gap for small critters to access. I didn't want to deal with Air Max anymore so I just sealed the gap with expanding insulating foam. The representatives and workers from Air Max were courteous and professional and the Lennox HVAC they installed delivers strong cold / heated air. Air Max also installed new ducts and registers to two of our bathrooms without charge which I appreciated. If you hire them, make sure you check their work! Ensure that their work is done to your satisfaction, that they clean up after themselves, and perform the job according to the contract.

Edwin arrived on time and immediately diagnosed the problem. I had been told by a technician from another company that I needed a new compressor for $4,000. This was not true. Edwin told me the problem was simply that I needed a new capacitor, which was under $500 including labor. He also added a little Freon, checked the filters, and gave me advice on how to clean the coils to make the unit more efficient. Edwin, and Osi back at the office, were courteous, professional, honest, and reliable. They gave me an honest assessment and didn't try to upsell me. They also saved me over $3,500.
