Kind of an overrated excursion but still gotta do it when in NOLA. I mean really how often do you get to go out in the swamp and see alligators up close and personal?? That's about it in a nutshell. Our guide was and was good at finding the special spots where the gators hang out and wait for the marshmallows. He did a good job at getting the gators to come up to the boat and grab for the white treats. Perfect amount of narration about the area and telling us about the gators of course. Overall, on the water for about 30-40 minutes total, the driving to the boat dock and waiting to get on to the boat took the majority of time. We went here to check out something different in New Orleans. We made a reservation for 4pm the boats can seat up to 25 people. Our tour guide Earl was great he was very informative he fed the alligators he even kissed them! We saw about 6 alligators large and small. The views are gorgeous with the Spanish moss trees and the animals. This was a great experience. This place was about 35 min from canal street they do offer transportation pick up and drop off from your hotel. Transportation was about $20 one way. If you take an Uber or Lyft it was about $50 from canal street. The air boats leave on time so make sure you arrive a little early. read more

We really enjoyed spending the afternoon with T Earl on an airboat tour of the swamp. Everything was well organized with a clean, covered waiting area. T Earl loves the swamp and his family history protecting it. He was really entertaining as he took us on a tour and we learned how they are protecting the alligator population from the effects of global warming. Second time using this company and couldn't recommend them enough! In regards to COVID- you're only inside for a quick check in or the gift shop where all of the staff was wearing their masks. This time we rode with T Earle for my group of 6 for a bachelorette. He was hilarious, informative and with his great knowledge of the area found us plenty of gators at all ages, bald eagles and a neighborhood raccoon that responds to his name Rocco. T Earle definitely seems to be great at reading his guests to give them the best fitting tour he can. He also told us some great and hilarious stories from past tours. For me, the fan boat is the only way to go and if you have the couple of extra dollars would highly recommend a private boat for some of the reasons above. Can't wait to return- thank you! This was such an amazing experience! My group and I used a Groupon to purchase our seats on their large boat. With the Groupon, it averaged out to less than $20 person. This your lasts almost 2 hours! That's an amazing value. I called several times leading up to this trip to ask miscellaneous questions, and every single time I called, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. When we arrived, the check in process was very quick and effortless. Once on the boat, our captain of the ship took us on a tour around the swamp area. He stopped at every sight of an alligator or anything interesting. He brought out a baby alligator for everyone to hold and take photos. We learned a lot of New Orleans and swamp informations, including the info of an ancient Native American burial ground that he took us by. We booked the small boat tour for 9:45Am. We enjoyed every minute of it!! Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!! Just a little tip, it did start getting warmer towards the end of the tour. So I would book early or the last tour of the day due to heat. If I could give them a zero I would, since we did not get to experience this booking. We paid for a party of 6 with transportation included. They informed us to be in front of the hotel by 10:45am for pick up. We were there by 10:30am. We saw an Airboat Adventure bus in front so we inquired if that was for us. The driver checked her list and said we were not on it. We figured since it wasn't time yet, there would be another bus coming shortly. By 11am no one had arrived so we called and were informed that the driver would arrive there shortly. We continued to wait. By 11:30am we called again. This time, they told us the driver wasn't answering the phone and they didn't know what happened but they could either reschedule us for a 4pm time today, tomorrow morning, or give us a full refund. If we chose to reschedule they offered to give us $10 off per ticket. We were outraged. We had been waiting for an hour outside in the heat. Clearly, someone made an error on their end and didn't include us on that initial drivers list. After that inconvenience, they should have offered at least a 50% discount to reschedule. This ruined our morning plans for my partner's 30th birthday. I will never try to book something with them again. read more

As a native of Louisiana, I decided to make a conscious effort to visit at least one cultural attraction during each visit home and a swamp tour was on my list during my February 2018 visit. After searching for a list of tour companies offering swamp tours, I decided on Airboat Adventures for three reasons (1) small group tours (6 ppl), (2) favorable reviews and (3) competitive pricing. My only regret is that I had not taken this tour sooner because it afforded me an opportunity to learn a great deal about swamp land, land rights, alligators and the community. The tour provided me with a much greater appreciation of the Jean Lafitte community, its flooding challenges and swampland. The boat ride was fun and our tour guide made all of the difference. The weather was pleasant (sunny, low 70s - high 60s), but resulted in fewer alligator sightings. All in all, we spotted at least eight or nine of them but saw other wildlife (pelicans, blue herons, nutria, etc), hunting land and a nearby burial ground on hilly land. I highly recommend Airboat Adventures and will be sure to take the tour again when the weather is warmer. read more

What an adventure!! Well organized from pick-up at our hotel to our drop off back at our location. This airboat tour was not only fun but boy did we get an education about alligators. This preserve that is also referred to as a sanctuary for the alligators and wildlife that reside there is so well looked after not only for the preservation of this beautiful swamp land but also for the care of the wildlife that lives there. I was happy to hear that there are staff that monitors this area round the clock. Our tour guide shared his life long experience and knowledge that has been passed down from his family through many years living in the area. His relationship with the wildlife, specifically with a few of the gators we encountered, was evident in the way he interacted with them. He demonstrated great respect for the animals and for the preserve. His humor had us all laughing and his knowledge had us all engaged in the tour. This is definitely a tour worth a visit and one I plan to make reservations for when I return to vacation in this area. read more

This is one of the last things we did. We had pre pre-purchased our tickets and included the transportation to and from the city. When we got on the bus, we were told that we had to put on the wrist band because Uber/Lyft drivers would drive you down but not come pick you back up. The package deal got us a larger boat with a cover. This cover was definitely necessary because it was a somewhat rainy day. Everyone that was on the bus was on our boat. Once we got on the boat, we didn't need ponchos. Our swamp and Bayou guide was very knowledgeable. He pointed out different areas of interest. And he was able to provide funny stories about alligators and the other animals that live on the bayou. He made sure to explain why all of the houses were raised and just made the trip enjoyable. I would definitely do this again even though I'm not sure what else you would see because of how much fun it was. read more

This place has terrible customer service. I paid for the private boat tour for a group of friends and the additional pickup ($553 paid a month in advance), where they are supposed to pick you up at your hotel. The day before our tour, they sent a text message saying due to parade road closures they had to change the pickup location to another hotel that was over a mile away. I didn't see the message due to me hustling and bustling through the airport. The driver calls me as we are waiting downstairs at our hotel at the pickup time and says he doesn't see us. Well, he's at a completely different hotel. I asked if he could wait 10 minutes and we would run to the pickup spot. He said no, that he had other pickups. Which seemed a bit asburd since they were picking us up an hour and a half before the tour. So we missed the tour. I was pretty peeved as I had booked the tour a month in advance and the schedule for the Mardi Gras parades is known well in advance. So they weren't able to put that together until less than 24 hours in advance. Poor planning. I called the main office and asked if we could get a partial refund, I would have been happy with half since it was my fault I didn't catch the text message the day before. No refunds at all, no exceptions. I asked if I could get a rebook within 12 months. They offered to rebook me, but I had to pick the exact day and time in the future and I couldn't move that tour, which is absurd. I have no idea if and when I'm going to be back in New Orleans, but the option to revisit within 12 months would have been at least something. I don't like giving 1 star reviews as you might notice from my profile, I usually am very fair. But this place wouldn't budge an inch. read more

First time on a swamp tour and first time on an airboat. Didn't really know what to expect but it was literally the best tour ever. We had Captain Cory and boy were we in for a BUG surprise. When we saw our first gator. He literally jumped off boat and made his own Swimming with the Gator episode. Swam straight up to the gator and fed it a marshmallow from his mouth. Then room out some chicken and fed it. And lastly fed him a hot dog moth to mouth also. Craziest thing I've seen in a LONG time. It would have been a great tour, but Captain Cory jumping in and swimming w the gator put it over the top. We also got to see some baby gators and hold one too. Absolutely worth it. read more

Was hoping for a little more narrative about NOLA but that's not what his job is. His job is to get us from our pick up location, to our destination. For $55 (splurge for the smaller boats, the cheapest is $30ish), I had a great 1.5 hours. A must-see if you're visiting New Orleans and love nature. The place is a 30 min drive from downtown, but it's easy to find. Get Dylan as a guide. He's both HILARIOUS and knowledgeable. He's great with the gators, and every tour is different. It was a beautiful sunny day when my friends and I went out on the water for our gator tour. The air conditioned shuttle is an awesome service they provide since it is about 45 minutes outside of the French Quarter. The driver was outside of the hotel at 8am and we were the first group to be picked up. When we got to the check-in, we got our bracelets and everyone was called up by the boat number that matched the bracelet. It was a very organized process. We selected the bigger boat, which held about 30 people. I wish we chose the smaller boat since they apparently are able to go into smaller areas that bigger boats can't get into. It was a very relaxing start while seeing all the greenery, but the real fun was when we sped up and flew across the water. Our tour guide was very knowledgable and I learned so much about the swamp and how they protect it. We saw a couple gators but we would have loved to get up close and pet them, as I've read from previous reviews. Tip: bring sunscreen and drink plenty of water. We were lucky enough to get Earl,a real and genuine creole/cajun frenchman who was historically and geographically accurate, funny and brave. Earl (I'm pretty sure that's right!)is a coast guard captain and has been on the river since he was a kid. His tour was equal parts fun, history and gators. The whole thing lasts a little over 1.5 hours and is about 1.5 hours outside of NOLA. We saw at least three gators and I felt totally safe throughout my ride. The airboats haul ass and it's for sure worth $50 to get on. Plus, I got to hold a baby gator!!! read more

One of the worst swamp tours I have experienced! There were drunk people standing on the seats and standing up while the airboat was in motion. Every other word out of our guides mouth was the f bomb. The only info we got was they feed the gators marshmallows and how to kill them. We also at one point had no driver, he got off to use the restroom. Leaving the boat with no one in charge if something would happen. I am a tour director and I could never recommend this tour to any of the tour companies or any of my clients! It was basically a very expensive unsafe boat ride with a foul mouth guide! read more

Our captain spent most of the time parked and waiting while we watched the smaller boats fly by. Talking about the hurricane (we were there in November) and panhandling. Also the bigger boats have a railing so you lose that open air feel. Its a clean nice place and the scenery is fantastic. Just make sure when you go for an airboat ride, get an airboat.
