What I can say is that the communication was poor, lack of punctuality seems to be their norm, and I am doubtful of their competency. 1) Appointments took multiple emails, texts, and phone calls to schedule, especially for the initial appointment, just to get someone to come out and do the measurements. I felt like they kept forgetting about me. They didn't let me know what was going on with the windows they were ordering, either. 2) For 2 of the 3 appointments, they were more than an hour late, and didn't let me know that they were running or late or give me an estimated time of arrival. Really messed up my schedule. 3) The first time they ordered the window, they were not able to install it because the dimensions were wrong. Isn't measuring the dimensions of a window one of the fundamental skills of your job?

OneSource came out for an estimate, providing recommendations for a replacement product, worked with me to get the selected option approved by our management board. A neighbor showed me her sliding doors installed by this company 5 years ago, they look great. So far, I am very happy with the end result and would highly recommend this company.

We have used Gilday Renovations for three major projects on our Chevy Chase, DC home, dating back…read moreto the 1980s. Because we were happy with the earlier projects, we recently used Gilday to renovate our kitchen and laundry room. Based on this most recent experience, I would not recommend Gilday. What should have been a 5 - 6 month project following demolition of the old kitchen and laundry room turned into a 14-month project, with lengthy delays where nothing got done. So many things went wrong with the project that they are too numerous to cite, but they include (i) multiple mistakes and defects in construction of the cabinets by the manufacturer (Greenfield) that Gilday recommended as the top of the lines it offered, which took months to resolve and some of which required multiple replacement pieces, (ii) lighting issues -- both under-cabinet lighting that created large areas of dark shadow and recessed ceiling lighting where the cans repeatedly went bad -- that Gilday did not know how to fix (we ultimately figured out how to address the issues based on extensive research on our part), (iii) caulking and painting that had to be redone multiple times (and we ultimately gave up trying to fix the different kinds of gloss on the sides of the refrigerator cabinet since it was done wrong twice), and (iv) frequent long delays in Gilday's response to emails and scheduling of work. The best work on the project was done by the two carpenters, both the one who initially worked on the project before leaving the company and the one who replaced him, but they usually worked with no helpers, which contributed to the very slow pace of the project. Notwithstanding all the many problems that plagued the project, we are pleased with how the kitchen and the laundry room look (and hope the workmanship will stand the test of time). But getting to this point was very painful, and we will not use Gilday again.

This company does not honor promises they make in their contracts and gives custommers the run around. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THEM AS POSSIBLE.

That morning two workers arrived, completed the task inside and out. They were efficient, quiet, cleaned up after themselves and kept the surroundings clean while they worked. When they were done they carefully stacked the screens in the garage and voila! One of the best contractors I have ever hired for a job at my house. Maybe the best!

I reached out to ND and another company based on the recommendations of coworkers. I did have to circle back fairly regularly to keep the ball rolling, but we selected New Diener's because their quote was hundreds of dollars less than the competitor. Mark Dubin (owner) and Miguel did an amazing job getting the job done quickly and thoroughly, even though I know it was a really small job for them relative to a lot of what they do - Mr. Dubin always made me feel prioritized. The seam is very hard to see and I'm thrilled with the result. I just wanted to recommend New Diener's because I am so happy with the job they did and Mr. Dubin is a true pleasure to work with (and, impressively, he makes architect level floor plan drawings for each of the jobs). He was willing to come at the end of the work day or weekends to ensure I didn't have to leave work midday and was always on time and very responsive. So, if you need carpet work, I can't emphasize enough how pleased I was with New Diener's - I really hope they stay in business a long time! They turned what started out as a very stressful experience into something easy and affordable.
