I stopped here for a bite to eat on New Year's Eve after landing in Islip. There were only a few customers inside. The interior was a typical diner atmosphere along with a Christmas Tree and a few holiday decorations. I was seated timely in a booth and my server appeared promptly and took my drink order. She was very pleasant. There were so many dinner choices on the menu and all the typical diner breakfast and lunch options as well. Being from NY originally, I was craving a hard roll and what better to have on it but rare roast beef with lettuce and mayo. I was in luck! I ordered and it was delivered as I expected along with complimentary pickle and cole slaw. It was an extremely cold day so hot tea was the beverage of choice. After dinner I perused the dessert case however nothing stood out so I passed. I have had many diner desserts in other places. These appeared to me as less than average. All in all the experience was average. I would have rated higher if the desserts looked appealing. My server was helpful and my sandwhich was great. I took half back to the hotel and had it for breakfast the next morning! read more

Where do you meet your buddies from High School that you grew up with in Holbrook? That's easy, The Airport Diner! We all meet in the parking lot at the same time. The diner has a large lot so there's plenty of parking. Back slaps happen as we're all seated in a nice booth. Coffees are ordered all the way around, nothing too bougie. I'm waiting to see what the guys order, I want to see how adult they're gonna be. The majority is omelets with spinach and feta cheese. Nice but guess what? My wife isn't here so waffles with bacon for me! The waffle was good, typical diner food that always welcomed. Of course, like every diner they have a syrup pouches and individual pats of butter. Then the half and half mini cups, I think we had a mountain of plastic after we finished our meal. The diner, it's a very large space. They also have counter service if you are dining solo. Guys catching up, do you want to know what we talk about? Current aches and pains but more importantly, the fun we had in this neighborhood. The amount of breweries in Holbrook is crazy. I grew up down the road from this place and I have been going there for DECADES! I hadn't been there in a while and decided to go on 11/24 for dinner. 1st off let me see the old guy at the front desk. Never cracks a smile or greets me. I always have to say hello to him 1st. Everytime I walk in. He has this look on his face. Like he wants to tell me no colored folks allowed. But he can't because it's not 1960 anymore. Bro you're in the hospitality business. Can you at least fake being nice? I've seen you be nice and smile and greet white patrons. I let that slide for years cause I liked the food. I get seated and order my food. Got my stuffed grape leaves. I ordered the pork soulvaki parm. With a Greek salad and side of fries. It took forever for my food to come out. Like half an hour. Do you guys only have one cook in the back? Grill some pork pieces, add sauce and cheese and melt cheese, fry up some french fries, prepare a Greek salad. How long would that take? Finally get my order. They forgot the Greek salad. Waitress barely checked up on me. It wasn't that crowded. I know it's diner but come on now. So I finally made the decision. If you get sick from from food with gluten this is not the place to order gluten free food. The watress was impolite when I asked about a gluten free meal. I was told the pancakes can be made gluten free so I ordered them. Today I am sick with the simptoms of gluten poisoning. I am diagnosed with celiac disease and should have known better after talking to the waitress. It's a large diner with average food at good prices and friendly service. I don't get the 1 star reviews as the place seemed busy with regulars when I ate there. The one thing I'd ask them to do is have the bathrooms be cleaner. My 4 year old walked into the men's room and said '"this smell is interesting." I thought this place would be crappy because the name in itself, but honestly... the food was great. Normal dining food, but it tasted better for some reason. Could have also been that I was kinda hungry. The service was good, our waiter was on point. It's such a convenient location for people coming to or from flights. I recommend it for sure! My first stop into this diner and it was a bust. I was feeling corned beef hash and eggs but it can't be canned. I asked my server and she said it was fresh. Excellent start! Over medium eggs, home fries and rye toast. No one could Jack that up. Well my eggs came out over well (not broken but cooked through completely) and it ruined the rest except for the rye toast was good. I like to stir my eggs, hash and potatoes up with the yokes. No can do today. My server was friendly but never stopped in to ask how it was. Neither did the cashier. I wanted to go back in the morning but I'm have second thoughts.... I'm in town for 4 days. Please understand I am basing my review on service. Airport Diner is a great diner in the past before Covid the services and staff all are wonderful and the food is terrific. We decided to go there today for lunch on the holiday wasn't busy found a wonderful parking spot my family got a table I got there at 1:30 we waited for 15 minutes the server walks by several times never acknowledging. I smiled at her thinking she was our server for our table unfortunately I was wrong. We saw other people come in from the diner sat down on the other side three minutes later their server greeted them and he was taking their order. Obviously, by then we lost our appetite we pay for a beverage and we spoke to the management and I was informed that they were waiting for me to arrive to be served and I said I arrived here at 1:30 it's 145 meanwhile other people are being served the orders before us it was just a very upsetting situation because it is Thanksgiving so we brushed it off and we went somewhere else. I highly recommend not going here during the holiday season due to lack of service. I'm sure the restaurant is great during the non-holiday season. read more

idk i've been ordering during covid when they were closed for pickup food was always hot and made to order. My husband and I go here a lot because we live down the street so it's super convenient. We (senior citizens) visited this establishment for lunch during the week. Our waitress was wonderful. She was patient and very accommodating. I did not like the fact the the total amount on the bill was if you paid by credit card. Cash price was printed small-very hard to read. An average lunch was $25.00 with tax and tip, a little pricey for a grilled cheese, soda & soup. As we were each paying the bills the woman & man at the register were saying that someone didn't pay, instead of saying thank you for coming and let's figure out a bill is still open. About 6 guests had walkers no one was trying to run out without paying. read more

Can't say I remember coming here for a meal; however, my group has a social meeting once a month and sometimes we come here for dessert and coffee. No matter which dessert I have ordered over the months, it is always HORRIBLE! Just HORRIBLE! The lemon merengue pie tasted like it was made from a marshmallow topping. The banana cream pie custard didn't taste right and had hardly any bananas in it and the cream on top was bland. The rainbow cake and the chocolate cake were very dry. How stale do the desserts have to be before fresh ones are made? The chocolate horn was totally dried out - I tried to cut it with a knife and it broke into a pile of crumbs; it also tasted like the refrigerator! Strawberry cheesecake - strawberries were gobbed in gel that had a skin on it. Others at my table ordered the carrot cake - looked like it came out of a box. The apple pie wasn't too bad, though too sweet. And the baklava - from a Greek Diner - my friend said tasted like wet cardboard. What is going on here? When asked if the desserts were fresh, of course the waiter said, "Oh yes! We bake everything here in our bakery downstairs!". Well, you could have fooled me! This diner has better matzo ball soup than the Kosher restaurants in the area. What does that tell you? I had some seriously bland matzo ball soup elsewhere and was constantly thinking of Airport Diner's soup and how I should have just gone there instead. I love coming to this part of Bohemia because this diner exists. The prices are reasonable for the area, the staff is nice (except for who I think is the manager.. he's weird), and the food is outstanding. I eat here exclusively when I'm in the area. Exclusively! That says a lot considering the other food options around. I've had things from salads to half of the breakfast menu to beef liver and onions! Salads are huge and fresh with a nice assortment of dressings. Got the Athena Platter which had large portions of pastichio, beef moussaka, and spanakopita. Was not a fan of the spanakopita. The spinach tasted like freezer-burnt spinach from the frozen department of Walmart. Had this leather-like texture. The pastichio and moussaka were great, though! Had enough for three meals even without the spanakopita... which quickly went into the trash. Sorry. On my latest visit, I had my diner go-to: corned beef hash with two poached eggs. Amazing. Delicious. Just as it should be. Coworker had French toast which I think was made with challah. She didn't like it, but she's picky. Doesn't count. Our waitress was the same each time. I never got her name, but she's a very pleasant and sweet Asian lady. She's probably the best waitress y'all have! Whenever I see her, I know my order is going to be correct.
