Despite its location in busy downtown Islip, private parking, which can get a little crowded on busy days, such as weekend mornings however tables turn over quite quickly, so bring your patience. Old style counter dining is also available for single diners or those who just want to enjoy the best cup of coffee I found on Long Island. The staff seem to be a constant at this place for I always see familiar faces behind the counter or serving at the tables. Great for groups, especially after church or sports. Very small dining room so as mentioned, you may have to wait a short while, but the turnover is pretty quick. Food comes out hot, fresh, great portion size and priced accordingly. Love the kitchy, decor, and all of the signage that includes every coffee, pun known to (wo)man. I've always wondered about their business hours, especially when I see Liquor behind the counter and a dartboard. Starting to think they may run special groups out of this location, but I'm not sure. If you can't park in the parking lot, there is safe street parking and again just an all-around great experience when it comes to diner cuisine.

Ever since I moved to town, I've wanted to try this place out. It's a small shop that has an old school feel, food is very diner like, and the staff is warm and welcoming. Less options than an Oconee, but much less busy. I got one of the salads converted to a wrap, and my kid got the grilled cheese which came with an ice cream. We will definitely be back!

I love Hometown Cafe! It's more affordable than the diners nearby and the food and service is fast and prompt and friendly! Constant refills of coffee and always service with a smile! It's a small spot but you're never waiting more than 15-20 minutes since fast service is there niche! I love their pancakes but decided on avocado toast this time and absolutely loved it, the iced coffee was perfect and kept me alert for my Saturday shift. Parking is a little messy but manageable.

Although this establishment has been here for awhile this was my first visit. Met my daughter for a light lunch and since she's on a tight schedule they were extremely accommodating and happily took our order over the phone before our arrival . Within a few minutes of us sitting down our order was brought to our table ! Extremely pleasant and friendly employees ! The restaurant is small and cozy with a handful of tables . There is also a counter area with stools with a quaint bar ! There is an extensive menu with breakfast items , sandwiches , wraps , burgers , salads and more. Unfortunately the vegetarian options are very meager ! Since time was limited I had the Garden Omelet, it was very good with lots veggies ,it Included tasty home fries . The coffee was pretty good too !Just so you know they stop serving breakfast around 1:30-2. My daughter got the minestrone soup which she said was a bit bland, but it looked like it had plenty of veggies in it . I think this is a nice alternative than going to the diner !

I just looked back and realized that I reviewed this place 5 years ago, and it wasn't a…read moregood review then ...I guess I hoped it would be better by now, yet here we are, firmly in the land of 1 star, which would be zero stars if possible! This time, I ordered the Bayside Trio (I think that was the name). One Lump Crabcake over a bed of yellow rice, 3 grilled shrimp, and 2 baked clams served with charred broccoli. Can I just say that the broccoli was one of the best part of the meal? I think that speaks volumes. Where to begin? Lets just get the worst of it out of the way. The Lump Crabcake- (lump Crabcake generally implies that the crab is of good quality) -wasn't. No chunks of crab meat-just mush. Was it the same as the "Maryland Crabcake" listed in the appetizer section? The waitress said yes. Let me tell you, it was NOTHING like a Maryland Crabcake. I'm actually embarrassed for Bayside Clambar for trying to pass off this little crabby patty as a Maryland crab cake. If I was Maryland, I'd sue Bayside for defamation and slander, for them trying to pass their sad little clump of whatever-it-is as a Maryland Crabcake! To me, that was the worst offense, that sad little stepsister...nay, distant cousin ... to the mighty Maryland Crabcake. As if that wasn't bad enough, it was pretty god-awful to eat. I left half of the pathetic little thing on my plate. The shrimp? Undercooked and tough. I left 1 1/2 of the 3 of them on my plate. The rice? Meh, but not horrible. I still left most of it on my plate. Thank Gods the baked clams and the broccoli were delicious-not a crumb of either were left behind. The waitress's lack of care when I told her that this plate was less than mediocre didn't help much. It's official-Bayside Clambar is on my list of places to avoid. I might suggest you do the same and save yourself from disappointment.

As mentioned they try to offer fresh, seasonal apps, handhelds, salads and entrees. The protein entree options only offer two to three chicken, pork, steak, seafood selections along with a couple of pasta infused dishes. They have a full bar, so if a beer or cocktail is wanted you do have options there as well. The Mr selected the Chilled Shrimp & Crab Stack, but eliminated the hard boiled egg aspect and thought it was light, tasty and refreshing. I opted for the Faroe Salmon with shrimp that came accompanied/on top of a risotto and peas. I thought cooked medium was perfect making it soft and fork flaky to mix along together. It was a very juicy sizable piece making it very filling. We didn't have time for a dessert, but noted they did have a few offerings there. Also noted they had very well kept mens/woman's and family restroom with baby changing table. Thanks! Would highly recommend this location to others.

My four stars was generous because the service was a really a three star for us. We started off by ordering cocktails my sangria was not good so I sent it back immediately. The other cocktails lacked alcohol but we didn't say anything. On to the appetizer which we got the Ahi tuna bowl and the crab cake, Caesar Salad the salad was so dry & we never saw the waitress for more dressing. Then we ordered rolls which were $6 for four rolls. We were a party of 5 and ask for another one we would pay and she wouldn't add an additional roll after spending $500. Now for dinner we had the Lobster Roll (warm) it was amazing. Branzino was fresh but on drier side. Burger was supposed to be medium rare and it wasn't at all. Steak was supposed to be cooked the same way but was cooked medium plus instead of medium rare. Waitress came over and said it was perfect. Maybe for her but not for someone who eats it rare. She made him feel awkward about it and ate it anyway because he was hungry. The olive oil lemon cake was more like a cupcake wasn't wowed by it. Best thing was the lava cake it was the perfect way to end the night.
