Outdoor seating under the plane
George M.

This is exactly what it says it is, a Diner. But the service is fantastic and the venue unique. There's a constellation airplane out front that when it's warm out you can eat under. So far we've been for lunch and dinner. Massive menu options. The food is good. The portions are huge and priced well. We can't wait to go back for breakfast. Waiting for warm weather to eat outside by runway. Remember, good diner food in a unique setting which was worth the drive!

Love this place the service at atmosphere is wonderful. I would give it a 5+ plus plus. The manager…read moreTyler Carter was so helpful and friendly will definitely be back.

The Ultimate Father-Son Rescue Mission: Knicks, Nachos, and Tears…read more The Knicks are in the Finals, MSG is electric, but every sports bar turned us away because my boys aren't 21 yet. Pivot. We marched straight into Dave & Buster's in Times Square, and it was the best executive decision I've ever made. We didn't just eat; we conducted a tactical assault on the menu: Mountain O' Nachos: A literal geological formation of chicken, queso, guac, and jalapeños. We absolutely demolished it. Smokehouse BBQ Ribs & Wings: Fall-off-the-bone honey BBQ pork ribs and buffalo wings. Messy perfection. Chicken Alfredo: Seasoned chicken, mushrooms, and creamy linguine. Surprisingly great! Naked Wings & Fries: The perfect bar food with a 5-sauce dipping gauntlet. Brookie Sundae Tower: Warm, gooey brownie-cookies stacked with ice cream and caramel. My sons' absolute favorite. Between commercial breaks, we burned off our 4th-quarter anxiety dominating at Hot Shot Baseball. The atmosphere was electric, and our bartender, Malinda, was an absolute MVP keeping the vibes immaculate. Then, the final buzzer sounded. 58 years of heartbreak--OVER. I looked at my sons, looked at the strangers next to us, and the tough-guy facade completely shattered. We cried. We wept. I held my boys tight, tears streaming down our faces, blubbering right along with a room full of New Yorkers. We spilled out onto the neon-lit streets of Times Square, screaming our lungs out into the night to celebrate the end of the drought. Basketball is just a game, but sharing history, shedding tears, and hugging your kids while the city burns with joy? That is forever. NEW YORK FOREVER. WE BACK.

Came here on a Thursday night. I haven't been here for years, since I was high school…read more The place was busy but was able to be seated once I met with the host. Their menu is pretty big. I ended up getting The Rosalita ($17.95), a grilled chicken panini which consists of mozzarella cheese, lettuce, tomato and a side of fries. This was a solid panini and the grilled chicken had a nice Smokey taste. Also got a side of honey mustard ($0.50) which was good. I had a good experience here and the food was good. I would highly recommend Oakland Diner. * Service is good and quick * Parking on premise * Interesting decor and lots of TVs

I hadn't been to the Oakland Diner in about 12 years, and it was better than I remembered! First…read moreoff, the decor is so fun, between the huge murals covering the outside and kitschy interior. It was also sparkling clean, which I appreciate. The place was busy on a Sunday (late) morning, but we were seated immediately at a high-top table across from the bar. We both ordered hot coffee, which was incredibly strong. For food, I chose the Chicken Parm Sandwich and my partner got the French Combo. Portion sizes were massive! My Chicken Parm Sandwich was tasty and super filling. The French Combo came as two separate plates - one with the eggs, sausage, bacon, and potatoes, and also a heaping plate of French Toast. I tried a piece of the French Toast, and it was delicious - nice fluffy texture, topped with whipped cream and strawberries. Service was quick and friendly. Overall, a great NJ diner experience!

Overall would rate a 3.5 for food, 5 for service…read more Service: The manager (?, dressed in button up so assuming) and another employee were very friendly, personable and warm with us and our kids. It was also nice to see the manager(?) being down to earth and help other staff physically organize tables as needed. This was easily the best meal we've had in New Jersey during the past month…read more It was a rainy day in Wayne and we started late, so we decided to stop by Pompton Queen Diner. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality stood out. We were the only Asian group in the restaurant, and the host/manager made us feel genuinely welcome. Even though the wait was busy and around 40 minutes, he still found moments to chat with us and keep the mood light, which made the time pass quickly. Our server was absolutely wonderful. I didn't catch her name, but she was friendly, energetic, warm, and incredibly personable. When she learned we were visiting from China and had spent more time in places like Los Angeles before coming to New Jersey for the first time, she happily shared stories about the local area and made us feel right at home. Her kindness completely changed the feeling of a cold, rainy day. The food was outstanding. We finished everything, even though we were already full, because it was just that good. This is the kind of place where the food is satisfying, the portions are generous, and the experience feels real. I made sure to leave my tip directly for our server because she truly earned it. If there's ever an opportunity for recognition or promotion, I hope management knows what a gem they have on their team. Pompton Queen Diner is a reminder of why classic American diners matter so much. In a time when so many places focus only on trendy Instagram aesthetics, this restaurant offers something far more valuable: genuine warmth, personality, and heart. Support traditional local diners like this. They are treasures. Kyle Liu
