Went here Sunday night. Wasn't crowded. Walked up to host to be seated as he was on phone I noticed napkins and food on floor under tables near by. (He could have been taking delivery orders on his phone, don't know , but he could have swept that up if he wasn't doing something for work on his phone) he seated us outside which was nice. Someone brought glasses of water, which were never refilled. I drank mine and hubby's cause waitress nearly came back to check on us. Firecracker shrimp was delicious as were our dinners. Hubby got lamb gyros and great chips. I got a special smoked chicken with onion rings.. delicious! We noticed 2 other tables with customers who had finished meals and it looked like they were waiting. We figured out they were waiting for waitress to give them the bill because we went through same thing. No one came to those tables to clear them until we left. Two waitresses, one busboy worked that area. There were 3 tables outside with people. Didn't seem busy, parking lot wasn't packed. We waited to for waitress.. would have ordered more adult beverages or asked for water but she was mia. We finally got bill and waited more for receipt... finally left without it. I love eating out there but service could use some improvement. There was little pieces of litter out there too. Straw covers and napkins blow off tables. ( I put my straw covers in my pocket- it would be nice if staff came back to tables after drinks with paper straw covers were served and took them off table so they don't blow on ground) it would be nicer if they had some music out there while dining. I will hesitate to going here again because of service. read more

Sam's Bar and Grill Review Visiting family in the area, we stopped at Sam's Bar and Grill, and it was fantastic! The food and drinks were amazing. The chicken wings were a highlight--crispy, meaty, and perfectly juicy. The skirt steak was another standout, so tender you could cut it with a butter knife, and packed with flavor. The staff is super friendly and nice and they had live music on Friday. If you're in the area, this spot is definitely worth a visit. Chose Sam's Bar & Grill at the suggestion of local friends. It's a miss despite having so much potential based on location. Pluses were enormous selection of draft brewskis. And 2nd server was friendly and welcoming. Misses: * Very loud despite being in the adjoining room. Why sound system was so loud is puzzlement. * Burgers were below par: Cheap bun that disintegrates, beef lacking in flavor and probably not chuck, and grind of meat more suitable for meatloaf and so burger was tough even though cooked medium rare. * No prices on beer menu * Had to ask three times about beer specials. First time "huh?" Second time domestic beer only during hockey games. Third time during baseball games and brand beer unknown to server. Jeez! * No online menu * Excessive 4% credit card surcharge. Mondays went to karaoke which isn't my thing so not too excited to return except for the amazing host/waitress that treats our group like royalty. Also I'm a bit disappointed with the menu changes...the nachos have changed bc they no longer put queso on top so those are now boring and dry for me. The Greek salad has less cheese then it did originally did and it still needs some pita bread for perfection. The fries were still good but were extra well done this time around and too crunchy and crispy instead of being able to taste the potatoes and seasoning was more like eating potato chips. read more

I'm disappointed. I went to Sam's yesterday and was looking to get a nice burger. I ordered a Sam's special burger and told my waitress that I wanted it cooked medium rare. I also ordered a Poke bowl for my wife. In addition, I ordered a Margarita and said to have sugar on the rim, not salt. Unfortunately, my burger came and it was not medium rare. Not even medium. It was medium well. It did however have a little pink marker in the burger that said it was medium rare. It was not. Also, the margarita had salt on the rim, not sugar as I had requested. The Poke bowl was OK. I told my server that the burger and the margarita was not as I requested. She apologized and indicated that she had ordered both the way I had asked. As a matter of fact, when I received my bill, she was in fact correct about how she put the order in. It's a shame that something as simple as getting what you asked for in this restaurant is not able to be done read more

Went early on a Friday evening, they had live Spanish guitar & the ambience was busy yet relaxed . We had the poke bowl , sex on the beach , & the fat cat burger. Everything was delicious and the house bbq is a yummy tangy sauce. Overall enjoyed the place and was a good way to start the weekend. I really don't understand all the negative reviews. This this place was a nice little gem to find in Ringwood. We decided to have Sam's all American burgers and fries and we found the meal to be wonderful. The burger was cooked beautifully seasoned appropriately was nice and juicy. The fries were good service from start to finish was wonderful. The atmosphere is a little sports bar like which is not my thing but that's OK. We just came here to try the foodprices well I think for the portion size of the burger you get it's pretty expensive that's why I couldn't give a complete five stars read more

This was my first visit to Sam's Bar & Grill. It was a Saturday at 3:15pm. It was confusing as to which door to enter. One was wide open with tables while the other one was covered with Halloween decoration so you can't see through the glass. After taking some time to mull over the situation, I went through the Halloween door. I took a seat at the bar and ordered the Southwestern wrap. It takes some time to prepare it so don't have any immediate plans soon after. I enjoyed my meal while watching baseball and college football and listening to country music. It came with fries with an irregular cut since they resembled potato chips. I wasn't a fan. The wrap was a good size and tasted fine. read more

We tried Sam's Bar & Grill during their "soft open" after hearing great reviews. We were very disappointed with mainly the drinks, I'm not sure what I ended up drinking but not what I ordered! The most pleasant part was our server Yvonne. She really did a great job, went above & beyond to help in any way. We weren't sure we would return. Eventually we did go back & I'm happy we did! I came here for Sunday football. I was in a party of 8 and they easily accommodated seating. We had a lovely server who was very attentive. We ordered a bunch of apps. Wings were outstanding, we always order wings extra crispy and they did not disappoint. We choose two flavors, both we're great. We also had nachos with the chili on the sides, great portions and easily to share. There was a chicken app that was delicious and someone ordered the corn dish that also looked tasty. There are lots of beer on tap and drink the drink specials looked good too. It's a spacious place, with a quieter dining room and outdoor patio with its own bar. Plenty of parking as well. read more

Wow. Just wow. The food here is so good! I visit every time I'm in the area. Some of our favorites are: the firecracker shrimp, best mozzarella sticks I've had in my life, Mac and cheese skillet, and the organic chicken breast with white wine sauce. We really love their fries, they taste amazing fresh. Their blistered shishito peppers and Brussel sprouts are also really good. The drinks are tasty. The servers are so nice. I will return again when I am near by! What I find impressive is how well they are running when they haven't even had their "grand opening" yet. My girlfriend and I heard great things about the food, so we decided to go on a date for two. We sat in the dining area to the right of the bar by the fireplace. The dining area was lit beautifully, and our waitress was outgoing and friendly. I was in the mood for salmon but heard the crab cakes kept selling out, so I had to give it a try. I am so glad I did-- The first bite left me speechless. The crab cakes had a fresh taste, a crisp exterior, and a buttery smooth center. The sauce, my best guess is an aioli with tartar sauce, was nicely balanced and salted to perfection. The dish came with sauteed mushrooms and shishito peppers that gave a nice lift to the dish. I was stunned for so long that I lost track of our dinner conversation. For dessert, we had crème brulee and it was out of this world. The crust of the crème brulee was delicate, and beneath the surface was a base with a perfect creamy texture. I thought nothing would compare to the crab cakes, but the crème brulee came close. The food was incredible, and I will most certainly be coming back. read more

We waited a few months to try Ringwood's latest restaurant offering to let the staff work out the kinks that typically occur with any new restaurant (I've been on staff at two). We were greeted by Sam the owner who took the time to explain the limited menu and specials and provide us with the details of his favorite offerings. Something we all appreciated. The space was familiar to us but with some small renovations appeared more open, clean and fresh. Our server (Lexi) was friendly and attentive as was the other staff members that we encountered during our meal. The TVs of the prior establishment remain which made it the perfect place to catch the playoff games while still enjoying some family time. We ordered the wings, ribs and RFG burger. While the wings were a small order (6) they were delicious. The burger, which I ordered medium, was perfectly cooked with a warm pink center and smothered in perfectly sautéed onions and munster cheese. The steak fries were equally enjoyable and cut thinner than most steak fries, which we all liked since we prefer crispier fries. The ribs were tender and meaty and nicely seasoned and sauced. All in all our meal was fabulous and dessert (the chocolate lava cake) was a great ending. We all went home happy and will definitely be back to Sam's Bar and Grill. read more

I am talking about the bartending only, not about the food quality or atmosphere: One word: atrocious. I've been to Sam's 3 times now and never had good service. I was there for an hour and a half tonight, I waited about an hour for the bartender to at least notice and serve me... it wasn't even busy!!! They have 2 bartenders, one making drinks and one getting bottles from the freezer (which is not in vicinity of the bar). Take my advice: if you're looking for a night out DO NOT go here. Great service. Our hostess was Yvone and she was personable and attentive without being overbearing. Food was excellent and priced reasonably. Better food , service and price than the commercial food chains in the australian mode or apple insect type and better food and price than most local diners. Menu is relatively small which is good. Better to do a small number of things well than try to do everything poorly. This was my first time eating here. I know sometimes your first visit is not indicative of future visits, but sometimes you know when it is right. So hopefully my future visits will be as excellent as this one and hope your visits are as good too. My wife had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich and I had the Flank Steak. Presentation was excellent. Unusual shaped but tasty seasoned french fries too. Deserts are modest but excellent too. This restaurant is now on my favorites list and while worth a longer trip, is fortunately nearby so I will be choosing Sam's when I am able to dine out. Finally, I am not much for sports bars, but Sam's has a dining area separate from the bar area, so family friendly and you can choose noisy bar area or dedicated dining area. I'm the drummer with The Kootz, and we played at Sam's last night. The staff is extremely friendly and cooperative in every way, and the food is excellent. I had a Fried Green Tomato BLT that was delicious, with some of the best French fries I've ever had. At the suggestion of people on the Wanaque Facebook group we tried this resturant. There are 2 main rooms that I saw. One was the bar area. Lots of tall tables, chairs and a well stocked bar. We were led into the dining room which cut off the noisy bar from the comfortable dinner area. There is also an outdoor patio bar with generous seating where you can have dinner and drinks. We started with the pretzel appetizer which is huge! It is hung on a hook. It was soft and warm with dipping sides of beer cheese and a mustard dip. It was by far the best pretzel at a resturant I have ever had. My main course was a burger and fries. The burger was great and cooked perfectly. The great things were the very thin steak fries. They were so good. I have never had French fries like that and I would have them again there with any meal! My husband had the calamari appetizer which was ok, not the best he'd ever had by far. His entree were the ribs and he had nothing good to say about those. They were dry and did not pull apart at all. The service overall was great. The wait staff were very friendly and had lots of suggestions for food, drinks and social activities at the bar. It was a nice evening and we would go again if not just for the giant pretzel.
