It is something I have to deal with on a daily basis and choose to push myself, rather than remain in bed. The only way I can do that is with the help from Pain and Wellness Institute in Spring Branch. The quality of their care and knowledge exceeds my expectations, for which I am thankful. The girls at the front desk always welcome me with a smile. The traffic was so awful yesterday that I called, letting them know I would be 10 minutes late. Yet, I was still greeted with smiling faces.. i truly can not say enough about how much I appreciate Pain and Wellness Institute. Their knowledge, professionalism, and genuine warmth make my life easier as I deal with this horrendous condition. Very rare to find any doctors who understand. I know that because before I found them, we had run the gamit in trying to find neurologists and doctors who had exceptional knowledge of this condition. All to no avail. I literally had one neurologist in New York and Denver to consult. I had a wonderful Neurologist in Dallas who we made the trip to see each time because he was just that good. He suddenly died one weekend and it broke my heart, not to mention all of his patients who were left to find adequate help. When I asked if his partners could help me, or refer me to someone who was familiar with my condition, they admitted they could not help, and did not know another neurologist with the knowledge to help me. I actually was thankful for their honesty, as I had wasted a lot of time going to neurologists who pretended to know about Syringomyelia. So, with that said, I applaud Dr. Lai's Pain and Wellness Institute because it is a relief to be their patient. I will add that any MS patients would probably be able to receive help from Dr. Lai, as there are many similarities with my condition. A special thanks to Chyrissa Staley, for her knowledge and genuine couragement. As always, laughter helps me to endure and she freely brings humor to the table, yet remains professional in helping me. A very rare combination in the medical world.

The wait was a little long, but Dr Lai and his staff were absolutely outstanding. Looking forward…read moreto the care I expect to receive from this group.

Glenn Litman as a very knowledgeable medical professional who also takes the time to listen. When I'm looking for medical care among qualified individuals, I am always pleasantly surprised to find someone who listens. Since that initial appointment, my family has consulted with Dr. Mann, P.A. Litman, and P.A. Longanecker at different times on different matters... from cognitive testing to UTIs to depression and ADHD. All of them are highly qualified, and they all listen... none of them has ever made us feel rushed. I have also experienced a few of the inefficiencies other reviewers mentioned, but they have been exceptions rather than the rule; and, for me, the people-oriented culture of this team far outweighs the minor inconvenience of having to occasionally follow up on some waited-for communication.

It was very targeted and I felt like a new person. The second round didn't seem to be quite as effective, but I did also ask for more coverage and I'm thinking I should've just stayed focused on the site of injury rather than the areas where pain radiates. I wish my insurance would cover more frequent injections for times like this, but Dr. Zach was really great about discussing other options and communicating with my insurance and myself, so that I don't come in and have to pay out-of-pocket for anything without knowing about it well in advance. The front desk girl, I feel so terrible that I forget her name, but she has always been really wonderful with me, as were Samantha (vitals) & Maria (procedures). I appreciate being listened to, heard, and not treated like someone who's just trying to come in and get prescriptions. All I want is targeted relief, to avoid oral medication, and to remain myself through the process of healing. It seems like they really respect that that is my preference. They call me and answer the phone, which is more than I can say for the other pain management doctor I've been sent to.

Well, finally I found out my spinal column was narrowing and pinching off my nerves. I don't believe in pain pills or shots so PT it was. First day they took the time to listen to my issues and concerns. Worked on my problem area and gave me what seemed like easy exercises to do from home and with the little ball to help get areas. Holy cow... I felt like ground up meat the first couple days, and icing helped a lot. By the third or fourth day my numbness in my arm and some of the pain areas started to fade. Since then I've had four other sessions and my back, arms and leg feel so much better. My mobility is better than it's been in years. Back in the gym and I don't remember the last time I lifted pain free where my muscles hurt more than my joints. I cannot recommend them enough. As far as I'm concerned, they are miracle workers. Thank you so much!!!

From scheduling the first appointment to the surgery to the post-op care, I cannot say enough about how the great the care is / was. Calling or emailing with questions, insurance needs etc. they have always had time for me and providing help / assistance. For my situation I had loss of range of motion occurring / progressing for a long time and did not know what was the cause. Then a light switch turned and my condition degraded into bone on bone pain from hip arthritis. I then went to a local "specialist" in Corpus Christi as I live hear there. After I determined that I did not want to have surgery in Corpus Christi, I waited 3 years after the bone on bone condition started, dreading what I thought the surgery and the recovery would be. When I finally had enough, I did research on the best specialist I could find, the most experienced, the best reviews, searching in Houston and San Antonio as we live in South Texas, and I chose and I am grateful I found Dr. Broome & San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists. I chose the Tissue sparing method of hip replacement, Anterior hip replacement. I was concerned as everyone I expect would be about pain and recovery. I expected bone pain just because of thinking what would occur during the surgery. For me, there was no "bone pain" with the surgery, as they told me there usually is not. With me waiting 3 years, my hip ball degraded & wore down about 3/4", this also affected my back. For my surgery this required stretching the muscles to allow making the new hip be the same length as the non arthritic hip. This was the only pain I experienced, muscle pain. All aspects of the hip replacement, scheduling, appointments, pre-op, surgery and post op have been great, beyond what I ever could have expected. Also the Doctor's owned Hospital, where I had my surgery, South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital is Great, and that will be in another review. Doctor Broome has an app for recovery therapy or I can go to regular therapy. The app is what I used. Daily exercises that change regimen each progressing week and this is getting my range of motion back. Before surgery, I had a tough time of reaching my right foot, putting on shoes and socks, bathing, etc., putting on pants, picking up things off of the floor, carrying things that were heavy, kneeling down, standing, walking, when walking and my arm position, crossing my leg, the arthritic hip affecting my back and many other things. The surgery has allowed me to tie my shoes, carry things that are heavy (I am progressing on this with exercises) , cross my legs, reach my feet, even just sitting down in my recliner at home by not having to straighten my right leg and basically fall back into my chair and so many more things be able to do that I have not been able to do for more than 3 years. I will say, I could not have made a better choice than Doctor Broome and San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists and his staff. If you are waiting for the surgery, or searching for the Right Doctor, Look no further as they are the Best in my opinion. I currently am in 1 month post op and improving daily.
