This used to be our go-to when we were in town. Not sure we will be going back. Staff was curt to my wife, and rude. There is a paper sign in the doorway that advises they now close the restaurant daily at 2:30. There is no indication on the website or Google search. When we mentioned nothing online indicates the mid-day siesta, the hostess curtly said, "There's a sign on the door and its been like that for two years." We turned around and left. Wow this place is pricey but the food is so good. I've ordered twice and it's hit the target both times. Ordering online is a little confusing but once you do, it's easier the next time. The food was well packaged and ready at the the time they give us. They have many protein combinations that all accompany a salad, soup, mixed vegetables and rice. Noodles are an upgrade, as are extra sauces etc. We have ordered a few different rolls, very fresh. One dinner is enough for two people IMO I really like the food, I just wish I wasn't paying 60 dollars plus tip for carry out. And, yes tip......these people are cooking your food. read more

Solid sushi for southern Maryland. We frequently will order take out from AJ Hibachi and have never been disappointed with their sushi. Everything tastes fresh and is usually ready within 45 minutes. If you're used to eating sushi in DC or Arlington this won't compare, however it is still very good and the service is great. read more

Clean establishment with a basic oriental decor. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I have never been at a busy time, only between 2-4pm. *weird I know* So I've never had to wait to be seated. I haven't had the sushi, but the prices seem appropriate. They have a Chef attentively stationed at the sushi bar waiting patiently every time I've been. After looking on yelp for somewhere new to go I discovered this little hidden gem my son loved the sushi it was very fresh and delicious I'm not sure about the past reviewer's but we were very happy and we love sushi so we can tell the fake from the real and this was the real deal!! Foods ok, took over an hour for carry out, price is a little high. Won't be back, and we live local.

Placed order and was told it would be an hour. A half hour later, the order was canceled with no explanation.

It doesn't have the hibachi tables where the chefs cook right in front of you, but the food is still great. Very generous portions and a variety of options, including udon noodles which I tried tonight instead of my typical chicken and shrimp order. It was delicious. Sushi also has not let me down! (Usually Shrimp Tempura Roll for me.) Service has been fine for me every time I've been as well. Great little spot! read more

First timer. I took my family to this place around 6 pm and we were the only customers. We were still being seated when we were questioned for drinks. And the drink menu isn't with the food menu! The service was okay. The food isn't cooked in front of you like most hibachi places but when it did arrive the plates the food looked awesome! Also tasted great! I was expecting to be able to at least have a beer with dinner (I knew that I wouldn't because I read previous reviews) and also expected the food prepared in front of us. The only have 1 waitress, and she's really nice. They are never crowded! The food is delicious. I want to go again but I feel like I go to much already They are pricey but I expect that when going to a Hibachi place. Their yum yum sauce is delicious too! There seems to be quite a few teriyaki/hibachi places opening up recently. A friend and I noticed this one opened up last week and decided to give it a try for lunch. I went in expecting a typical "order at the counter, sit and wait for your food/takeout" kinda place that served up generic, barely passable fare. I did not get that at all, and I was pleasantly surprised by what this place had to offer. Going in, you find a moderately sized dining room that's clean and well-decorated. I found the food to be reasonably priced, and ordered the hibachi chicken & steak combo, which came with fried or white rice, and vegetables (mushrooms, onions, carrots, broccoli and zucchini). What arrived at our table was not the usual "grill it up and throw it in a bowl" style of hibachi. You could tell that care and effort was put into the preparation of the food, and the plating. I was immediately impressed by the look and aroma of the food, and found that it tasted just as good. Each entree came with a ginger sauce that had a nice, not too overpowering flavor, and your typical mayonnaise-based hibachi sauce. The meal was surprisingly good, and I will not hesitate to go back there soon to try more. I highly recommend it. read more

I love this place. We've been faithful customers for years and years. We were visiting at a rate of what seemed like 1-2 times a week there for a little bit. But it is still consistently once every week or two. The lunch special is such a good deal. The people that work are just so nice and work so hard. The food is always prompt and hot. Probably some of the best cooked steak and chicken (chicken is NEVER dry) that I have had at a hibachi restaurant. The sushi is easily the best in this area, and they have many options to choose from. This place shines because there aren't many good, satisfying, "different", or quality restaurants in this area. That is why we frequent this hibachi place so often. Definitely worth every dollar. read more

I tried to order on the phone 5 mins ago. The guy puts me o/h without saying 'please'. slams the phone down on the counter, smashing papers around and clicking and coughing. Then says' HELLO? WHAT DO YOU WANT? and demands what i ordered. I have not put an order. Yells on the phone: WHAT DO YOU WANT??? WITH VERY RUDE ATTITUDE. i asked if they he can provide an website so that i could see the menu a clearer, does not provide but rather yells: SORRY, no menu. IDK!. Never ever going to call or come to this restaurant. PLUS, the place smells. DONT GO HERE!! save your money. You are better off going to Giant and picking up a bento box or something. they are lucky that Yelp requires for me to put at least one star. they truly dont deserve this star at all. read more

We were the only people in the place, so the service at times was a little slow considering. But the sushi was good to me, and I don't think it was super expensive. I guess that is all relative depending on the area, but this seemed to be in the same price range as your average sushi restaurant They were out of a couple of the things we ordered, which was disappointing, but I guess understandable since I wonder how busy they ever are. I loved that they had good sweet tea, although I guess its a southern maryland thing to have :) The waiter refilled my tea on time, since I was tearing through it! We had the seaweed salad, salmon, tuna, mackerel, white tuna, eel and shrimp teriyaki (kid's meal). Had the whiny kids in tow and they wanted the usual suspects when it came to food. Instead of dealing with the fast food wars, we came across this gem. The restaurant itself was very clean and the staff was very attentive I'm pretty easy, just refill my drink They did this and more. While the portions weren't huge, the food itself was solid and served within 10 minutes of sitting down. I tried to act cool and use chopsticks but that lasted about a minute. My son and I absolutely LOVE this place!!! We consider this our hidden spot in our small town! We are regulars most weekends. Great service, the food is outstanding and the lunch menu is very reasonably priced! The portions are large enough that we split the NY and chicken, add some California rolls (his fave anywhere!), finished off with two orders of chicken livers! Food is crap. The maki rolls fell apart. The udon and egg noodle curry was like bad dish water. We sat for 20 min before someone took our drink order. When food came no napkins, chopsticks or forks. I get the food here often and I'm glad we have a Japanese food restaurant in Charlotte Hall. The sushi here is better then Old Beijing. I'm not that big on Chinese food so I haven't been at Old Beijing much since AJ opened up. If you haven't tried the food here I recommend it. The service can be slow so I usually do a pick up order. Lunch prices are a lot better and it gets expensive at dinner. I'll order pick up here a couple of times a week. If you don't want to deal with the slow service call order ahead they usually have my order ready within 15/20 minutes. read more
