These guys are crooks. A tech came to do an inspection on a furnace for a c of o and told my daughter the unit was shot. A salesman was at the door with-in hrs and wanted to sell her a 14,000. unit We got a second opinion from another company and it turns out the unit was fine , nothing wrong with it at all. This is deceptive business practice and AJ was fined 100,000. by NJ State in 2018 for the same practices. Stay far away from these guys. read more

The jury's still out on my AJ Perri experience. It started with my request for a simple AC and Furnace check-up, and ended up with an entire new AC system. They showed me photos of rusting coils, which I sure hope were from my system, and said AC systems last 15 - 20 years, and since mine was from about 1999 I needed to replace it. Since then I've found friends that have had their system 50 years..... Anyway, a Sales Rep came out, Matt DiBlasio, who seemed very nice and also very knowledgeable. The system was installed while I was out of town on a family emergency, and Matt was so kind and understanding with arranging payment. Unfortunately, the outside unit was installed very sloppily, with the stone all over the place and the unit not level. Then the weather turned cold again and we found that the heat didn't work via the newly installed thermostat. Matt scheduled the necessary repairs immediately, which was great, but still shouldn't have happened to begin with! But of course, once my final payment was in, I've not heard back from Matt on a number of, albeit smaller, issues that I discovered -- a mess of many bags and boxes that were in the attic, debris outside the house, etc. Not that it required any service call, but they could've been more responsible and cleaned up their messes, and they should've told me what happened in the attic so I could take care of it. I had discovered it purely by accident. Anyway, I guess my message is: Don't make your final payment until you are 100% sure everything works, and is done to your satisfaction. I called AJ Perri to clear out the main drain line in my home. I specifically told the technician to use the larger auger bit, since in the past when a smaller bit was used, the problem wasn't fully resolved and I had to call them back. The tech dismissed my concern, insisting he was a professional and knew what he was doing -- but he used the smaller bit anyway. Sure enough, the drain backed up again just two weeks later. When I called AJ Perri back, I was told the 30-day warranty no longer applied because I had been given an estimate to replace the entire line for $21,000 -- as if that somehow voided any accountability for the work already done. I was forced to pay the full price again for another cleaning. They have clearly changed their warranty policy, and it feels like they're using high-cost replacement estimates to avoid honoring their guarantees. Don't do business with these crooks! Incompetent, Liars and Overpriced! My first experience with AJ Perri was when my basement flooded. I thought it was a plumbing issue. Their technician incorrectly told me I needed a new sump pump. He installs it and the water does not leave my basement. I am the one who figures out there no outlet for the pump while the "plumber" is there. I am charged $1000 for a sump pump I don't need and I'm eventually given a $400 credit. Today I had a bath tub faucet that kept dripping. I thought I would call them to install a new shower handle and use my $400 credit. Their plumber comes and quotes me $4000! To replace a bath tub faucet and handle! I was ready to get ripped off but for $4000 I could redo the entire bathroom. And they didn't even let me use my credit because the address is different even though I own both houses. Then I was charged $130 for them to give me this outrageous estimate! Contrary to a some of the reviews I have seen, AJ Perry did not do a "hard sell" and I don't think they were over priced. The salesperson spent over 5 hours with us - he explained, and educated us, on what we had, what he was proposing, and why. They showed up when they said they would; the team was friendly and professional. They completed a total furnace replacement, with adding a new flue pipe, within a day. Our air conditioning stopped working in the middle of the holiday weekend Saturday July 5th. A.J. Perri not only picked up the phone on a Saturday night, but they scheduled a service call for 1st thing Sunday morning. The technician George reviewed the whole system and issues and told us we could try replacing the capacitor and blower, but our system was almost 20 years old so we had their estimator Nick Cucurello come out an hour later. Nick was very thorough quoting us a couple of options. He helped us save money with some manufacturer and holiday promotions so we bought a whole new Carrier HVAC system that they installed the next day. They also gave us a brand new window unit to use while we waited for the new system to be installed and commissioned. Mike and Ahmed were the installers who came out. They were very neat putting drop cloths down on our floors, and they efficiently demo'd our old system taking it with them then installing the new system and training us in using the Honeywell controller. I didn't expect we'd find any contractor that could pull this off on a holiday weekend let alone deliver above and beyond with a 10 year warranty covering all parts and labor. Firstly, I've never ever have written a bad review about anyone albeit warranted. I have no time and by and large, it's serves little purpose. But this A.J Perri experience takes the cake. So, as was recommended by A.J Perri post maintenance/tune up appointment, I decided to install a brand new heating/air cond unit last November. I cant even begin to convey the grief and horror stories experienced during and post the installation, including living in in freezing cold, sleeping in the hotels, etc. Finally and after 6 tries including having their manager on site, it became functional. They've assured me that unit is perfect including air condition that will function when the warm whether begins. Well, the warm whether is hear now and guess what, it's not working. Perhaps that I am just amazingly unlucky, but, draw your own conclusion. As for me, this company to be avoided like a plague. Not to pile on, but at the same time as they were installing my unit, my son called them to repair his. Long story short; they've recommended to install a new unit at the cost of 14K, while a different company repaired it for $800. Again, draw your own conclusion. They advised they could come on June 24th. between 12 - 4. I received a call at 1 stated they could not come because the tech was not experienced. Our one toilet backed up and they tried to snake it, I was told that tree roots were clogging the pipe at a clean out T pipe in our crawl space. They told me that they would have to jack hammer the cement floor in the crawl space for about 5-6 feet and replace the pipe, 4 workers one day. $7000.00. I should have got another estimate, so it's my fault. But. they sent 2 guys and they only removed the T pipe, about 5 hours work. They of course did not adjust the price from the estimate. My wife and myself are in our late 70s and a few years ago we purchased a Air-conditioning from Perri. The contract called for a certain popular and highly rated A/C . Instead they installed a different brand which did not work. We renegotiated the contract and they installed a new system. We have kept up our end of the warranty but this summer our A/C has worked for less than a week. Perri was backed up and the earliest they could get to us was July 5. The story we got a part was needed and they would have to order it and they would come back July 29th. That was acceptable being in our late 70s without A/C. Told Perri if they want to put us up and pay for a hotel... they were here with in 24 hours and Air Conditioner worked for a few hours. Recently coming off a 10 year warranty for a residential boiler that was originally installed and maintained by AJ Perri, this year's "Elite" Pro Service Plan preventative maintenance visit reveled shocking diagnosis by the technician. The finding indicated that every component of the boiler need to be replaced at a cost of $6,332 with the ultimate recommendation of replacing our 11 year old Carrier boiler. The technician was quick to set up an appointment (within two hours) with a Project Manager to quote a new boiler. Sound familiar? The bottom line ... when looking for an alternative quote for a boiler replacement we called a local heating and plumbing contractor (holds a master plumber's license) who rather than quoting a new boiler reviewed the system, cleaned several component and said that the expansion tank and relief valve were compromised and need to be replace at a cost of $715. Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware. We immediately terminated our Pro Service Plan Agreement and relationship with AJ Perri. PS. During our due diligence we received boiler replacement quote from another local contractor which came in at 30% lower than AJ Perri. read more

My estimate was $1429 plus tax and not guarantee that it will fix my boiler which was so bad it really should be replaced.... $12,835 for the new boiler... and will be installed on Tuesday (mind you they shut down my heat on Friday morning). I called them Saturday and told them no way I could afford this system and had someone who could get it running for me. They offered me more money off the boiler and 0% interest. Well see the last picture... $32.78 for the same piece they wanted $570.00. the expansion tank... which I could not even test myself because they took the old one. Another vote for scam. Came over because heat wasn't running. Said it needed about $2k in parts and labor and recommended replace and was quick to look to schedule someone to come out to give estimate for the replacement. In the mean time, called another vendor and explained what they said needed to be done and he said based on what AJ Perri said on the invoice, it is more than double the price. So I ask him to come over and take a look at the unit and he says that the two parts that AJ Perri said to replace are just fine and it was another part that was dead - fixed it for $200 bucks. So, is this a scam? Or is it Incompetence? I see the company replying here a few times saying that they aren't always the cheapest choice. This is quite different. More like what they settled with the state of NJ in 2017 - unnecessary services, pressure tactics and upselling. Do a google search of your own for "AJ Perri Dishonest" and see what comes up. Oh, and I did speak with them about this. Gave them the opportunity to do the right thing and refund the service call charge. They forwarded it to their "quality control" group and haven't heard back. Spoke with them again this morning and said hey, if you don't want to get back to me that's fine but I'm going to share at places like here and I'm going to share my experience with the state of nj. A friend had AJ Perri install and service a furnace. AJ Perri serviced same unit for 10 years. The furnace warranty expired after 10 years. Upon a routine maintenance visit, AJ Perri identified some blockages in the system and recommended a complete replacement of this furnace for $20,000. Friend got a different plumber in to assess the situation. That plumber cleaned out a couple of blocked valves and replaced the expansion tank. Total cost: $700. When the AJ Perri project manager called to follow up the quote, my friend confronted him with the work done by another plumber. He didn't know how to respond. DO NOT USE AJ PERRI. They were scheduled to perform annual maintenance on my AC. The appointment was scheduled for between 2PM to 6PM. When they hadn't arrived by 6:45, I called to cancel. I was convinced to let them reschedule for early the next day (shame on me). Their morning appointments run from 8AM to Noon and I was promised that mine would be first on the schedule. By 9:30 they had not shown up. I called to verify that we were the first appointment of the morning and was told that, yes, we were. I guess the service technician is a late sleeper! Requested ac unit maintenance for lack of cooling in home. Tech arrived and hooked up pressure manifold ( maybe took temps also ). Concluded there was a restricted line and that most likely was caused by bad TXV Valve at inside evaporator coil. No other diags perfomed. Stated and provided a work sheet form that a new evaporator coil was needed ( $5172 ) also stated that it is not recommended to replace evaporator coil without also replacing outdoor ac unit ( $4629 ). Said goodbye , so long , get lost. Paid initial service call fee. Called Arctic Air , tech arrived as scheduled and proceeded to check pressure and temps at outdoor ac unit. Tech said possible restricted line to evaporator coil. 1st checked that outdoor dryer filter was functional ( was ok ) then cleaned outside AC unit coils which were dirty ( No change in pressure ) went upstairs to evaporator coil and opened front of case. 1st observation ( No TXV Valve ) for evaporator coil because it uses a fixed orifice valve. Proceeded to wiggle line and the fixed orifice valve. Turned AC unit back on saw that pressures were now normal and cool/cold air coming out of vents. Done , now working and biiled $270. Night and Day between AJ Perri and Arctic Air. Bad Perri Serviceing and strictly upsale on new units thier goal Good Arctic Air professionally trained and knowlegable tech Stay away from Aj Perri for AC maintenance issues. read more

BEWARE of AJ Perri. Employees are very nice and respectable. Received a brand new unit in 2024. Stopped working same day it was installed during one of the heat waves. Electric panel was also upgraded because they claim heat pump/electric strips would be more efficient than the electric heat. That didn't work either. Electric panel work failed township inspection twice. Yes, they came back many times to correct problems, but unit still did not work the way it should. When I expressed my unhappiness and wanted the unit fixed correctly or removed, they stopped returning my phone calls. Their contract states, "If for any reason, within one year of the date of the original invoice, you are not 100% satisfied with your equipment, we will make every effort to meet your expectations, or remove your equipment and cheerfully refund 100% of your money." Don't bother throwing away your money,it seems that they try to pull a bad and misguided stunt by coming over to clear a clog, they run a special then the plumber claims he can't find the clog or not sure how to proceed so he comes back with someone else claims the clog is cleared but in all honesty they don't. you pay them to clear the clog a coupon price. But never really fully clear the clog.another person comes to put a camera down the pipe so I saw a lot of stuff that was left and never cleared out fully,so the other guy can rope you into another job costing 5,000 dollars to cut a 2 foot piece of concrete cut the pipe replace it and repair concrete, amd tell me you can do it Monday, do I look stupid to you. Worst experience I have ever had with a company. I made an apoointment and they called the day before and asked if they could move it to the next day as they had big jobs on the day of my small job. I said sure, and then they canceled on that next day due to of course their plumbers were to busy on other jobs. I tried one more time telling them if they canceled again I would never do business with them again. They canceled. Basically told me they understood my anger and to find another company. I'm sorry their dispatchers can't figure out how to schedule jobs correctly. But when you make an appointment, you don't schedule a big job before an apointment that is on your books because then you might not be able to make your appointment. I get they want to make money so a bigger job is attractive, but if you do cancel a customer once, you don't do it again. Terrible customer service. Six years ago we had a Carrier boiler installed by A.J.Perri. After about a month I noticed a constant hammering of the pipes whenever boiler reached temperature. Called AJP and asked for someone to come out and take a look. Bled the system, thinking it was air in pipes. Did not work. Tech said it is probably due to a more efficient boiler and older pipes. Will have to live with it. Five winters later, I bring up my story of the hammering to a friend. He has a plumber friend who is familiar with noise like that. He asks me to go and check the two zone valves. I snap two pictures and send to him. He immediately says that valves were installed upside down. This would cause the banging when boiler reached temp. I call AJP and asked them to come back out and check the system. While tech was doing his thing I ask him if he thinks zone valves are facing the correct direction. He starts a FaceTime call with supervisor, showing him that valves have indeed been installed upside down. Never do I get an apology. I am told that I need to make another appointment to have the work done. In December, 2024. Tech shows up and starts the work. All covered under warranty. Only because original work was done incorrectly. Aside for the banging, boiler was working fine. While tech is finishing up he informs me that boiler is not working properly and that I need a new back flow valve. $100 part. He calls the shop and they let me know it will be $2000 to replace. I let them know that I am not going to pay that amount. The math just doesn't add up. Manager asks me what would be a reasonable price, he says "how about $700". I reply asking where is he getting these numbers from. There is never any itemization discussed. We finally agreed on doing the work for free. Two months later, February 2025. I start to hear strange noises from boiler with some water releasing from safety valve. Call AJP, only because they know the system and they installed it. Tech arrives and says that I need a new trim kit. This consists of about 4-5 parts. Kits range from $250-$500 online. Tech lets me know that the cost is $2000. I immediately start to laugh and asks if they just make up numbers and see if they stick. He couldn't explain how or why replacing one part costs $2000 and replacing 4-5 parts costs $2000. On multiple occasions I called AJP offices asking to speak to someone in charge. 3 times I was told I just missed them or they just stepped out. Still waiting. Always get the itemized receipt, including per hour labor cost. If you don't, AJP will take advantage until they are called out. Better yet, find a different company. read more
