Purchased a Speed queen washer and dryer from them. The dryer from day one makes an intermittent loud rattling/ grinding noise. Called Ajay appliance requesting they replace the unit with another and was told I had to contact an appliance repair company for them to evaluate or call speed queen directly. After searching and searching, I came to the conclusion we should try this store. Went there and met Doug. A bit gruff at first but more personable and friendly as we spoke. Bought Maytag washer and dryer combinations and then had these delivered and installed. Ajay didn't charge for removal of old unit, whereas other stores and places such as Lowes and Home Depot charged. Installation cost was a bit lower than competitors, and of course, delivery was free. The men who delivered and installed were courteous and professional. Overall, a good experience. My only regret is that I would have like to be given a reduced price. read more

I wanted to purchase a washer dryer a speed queen an they were one of the few that sold it. I also wanted a ge electric stove which i could have purchased somewhere else but i bought it there. I new what a wanted before even looking so he didn't need to do much except write it up an deliver it. Delivery was ok two guys came only one new what he was doing. while the other one complained an made a mess. The guy in the store wasn't really interested in helping me but he wrote up what I wanted an i paid for it cash......nearly 5 grand when i was done with my 3 purchases. The place isn't very helpful an their delivery guys were awful. Even though it was not a good experience i love my appliances an would go back there again as now i am looking for a refridgerator. My last one i bought from lowes the darn thing is on its last leg an not even 10 years old. I am hoping to do better at ajays so we will see. read more

we have been purchasing appliances from Ajays for approximately 10 years. We have spent well over $10,000. We recently purchased a front loader, washer and dryer stackable. Unfortunately, we are very unhappy with the machine, especially the washer as it is extremely loud. Whirlpool came out and inspected the machine twice and said that it is normal to go back to where we purchased the machine for an exchange for something else. unfortunately, AJjays will not honor this. They informed me to try and sell it on Facebook or marketplace. After all the business we gave them and the many referrals, that was their response, again, very disappointed and will not shop there again. buyers beware if you are unhappy with your purchase. read more

So far we have bought a stove and a dishwasher from them and have been very happy with both purchases. Their prices are legit cheaper than the big box stores and they have never charged us for delivery. Oh and BOTH of those deliveries were within the same week. You don't get that with Lowe's or Home Depot. After our stove blew out and we had to get one ASAP, HD and Lowe's could only get us something within two weeks "because of this whole Covid thing" they both said. Not AJay's! The price of the same stove range was cheaper and we had it within days. Seriously, stop shopping those big box rip off places and get back to local dealers. Way better! read more

Recently bought a refrigerator from Doug at Ajay appliance. Because I had a great experience I returned for a washer and dryer. The dryer came dented so they didn't deliver it. the washer had issues the minute I set it up. Ajays replaced the dryer and the washer. Now the washer is a different model than the dryer and looks like two different kind of appliances. I have reached out to Ajays as I have two different appliances and extended warranty On the wrong washer. I was told they will do nothing for me. I really would have liked to finish updating my appliances but I will never go into Ajays again. It is a shame that customer satisfaction does not come first at Ajays. It is not asking to much for the washer and dryer to be a pair and match. Also that my extended warranty be on the right appliances. read more

Ordered/paid for 2 new refrigerators over 4 months ago. Finally got a call that they would be delivered on Saturday. After several postponement phone calls from store, drivers finally showed up at 7 PM. ( so I lost a days pay for nothing.) The delivery man started, unpacking the fridge outside and asked us where we wanted "it" to go. Soon to find out, they only had one. our food was in coolers all day. the delivery men were very courteous and polite and apologize repeatedly. We were told there was nothing they can do until Tuesday because the store is already closed and it will be closed on Sunday and Monday. My wife was called on Tuesday morning to be told that it will not be delivered until noon. Also taking the day off of work. after delivery men brought the second fridge in they proceeded to reverse the door swing. They pushed it in place and left . My wife called and told me something doesn't look right when I got home I noticed that the doors were improperly installed and they were screws missing. When I call the store and spoke to Joe the salesman, he was quick to tell me he's just a salesman and could not care. also that he sold us two fridges and what else am I looking for? For a family owned business to not care about Customer service, or making things right and training their installers is really baffling to me. I would not recommend anyone do any business with such a unscrupulous establishment. This whole purchase has been a nightmare from the start. If I could give them zero stars, I would. instead of using the big box stores I thought I would use a smaller mom and pop store. I purchased a GE Dishwasher. First I dealt with Doug, who was no help at all. Actually my daughter found one on line and we ordered it on 1-21-23. installation was a breeze or so I thought. After the cycle water came pouring out from beneath the machine flooding my flooring. I ran for towels. I couldn't get service until Wednesday. in the meantime, water was still coming out. This was an emergency situation. I called Joe and he said they'd be out at 1:00. Decided that after 20 yrs. of the same stove, and more then 20 for washer- dryer, it was time to go appliance shopping. Went for months, that's what I do, foot research, as much as I hate it. It's worth it. Picked my appliances from Ajay's. They took out old ones, brought in our new, hooked them up, taught me how to use them, replaced old hook ups, or parts like the dryer hose, and they were very personable and friendly. The selection was comparable, and the salesman was pleasant and knowledgeable. Best of all- they had the refrigerator and stove we were interested in- IN STOCK! Two days later they were delivered. Shawn and Dillon were superior deliverymen. They used expert skills to be careful, and knew what was needed to make the delivery a smooth one. Just my opinion, but I can't agree with the other two reviews. Bought a Weber grill a year ago and now it won't light and the inside of the hood is peeling. Doug Bryant wrote the Weber number service number on a card and didn't even ask about my complaint. As far as I'm concerned very poor customer service. Many years ago Ajay Appliance in Toms River was the best place in town to buy your appliances. Prices were fair and customer service was great. Every appliance in my home is from Ajay. However, since the new owner took over, it's been all downhill. The staff is not friendly, and service is marginal at best. The last appliance I bought in April 2011 was a dryer. Soon after I got it, I had a pair of pants ruined when the zipper was torn off and got stuck in the seal between the dryer drum and the frame of the door. I called service because I heard a thumping noise and the service person found the zipper lodged in the seal. He removed it, but didn't do anything else. Since then I've had other pieces of clothing ruined when buttons and other items got caught in the seal. I checked myself one day and found a big gap at the bottom of the drum between the frame and the seal. I called Ajay again and they told me the dryer was no longer under warranty, so I called Frigidaire. When I gave the Frigidaire rep my info, model and serial number, I was told this dryer was manufactured in 2008. Now I was angry because the dryer was already 3 years old when I bought it from Ajay. Frigidaire was kind enough to honor the warranty for parts, but Ajay told me I would have to pay for labor. Now, I just don't trust them. Their prices are no better than anyone else and their business practices, in my opinion, are questionable. The next time I need an appliance, I will definitely not buy from Ajay and I recommend you shop elsewhere as well. Update: The service tech from Ajay just left my house. He indicated that the main bearing on the dryer drum was completely worn through. This is on a dryer I have owned for 2 years. When I asked him if this was normal, he said those bearings should last at least 10 years. This makes me more suspicious of the fact that it was 3 years old when I bought it. I assumed I was buying a brand new, current model dryer. I now wonder about where the dryer came from, where it was before I bought it, and are all the parts in it original. I now also wonder about all the other Ajay appliances in my house. Anyway, I have to pay $130 in labor to have it fixed! Do not trust these people! read more

I just returned from Ajay Appliance in Toms River. My last purchase of a washer and dryer was from Ajay's and I like to support local business so I figured I would go back to purchase a slide in gas range and fridge. We are planning on changing our kitchen around and was looking toward Ajay for their advice on venting our new stove with a island hood vent or downdraft system. I walked in the store on this dreary day and figured I would get great help since no one else was in the store. The gentleman who was working seemed totally disinterested in helping us. I walked out and will never walk in the store again. He did answer some questions but I did not walk out feeling he even attempted to provide any type of customer service. We actually felt like we were a bother to him. I don't know why they are even open on a Sunday if they don't intend to be helpful to customers. Purchased an expense GE refrigerator there. Seemed to get a good deal, salesperson was also the installation tech and he knew a lot about the machines, so I felt comfortable. At time of installation, AJAY determined that the refrigerator doors were not correct, so without letting me know, they called in GE. After two sets of doors and a month alter, they apparently got the doors right (except for the machine screws they left sticking out of the bottom of the freezer door handle. AJAY washed their hands of my an the problem, putting all the blame on GE for 'shipping the wrong doors out of the factory.' Makes me feel like I might have gotten a lemon or a job lot refrigerator. Two months later, needed a gas range and microwave, so I went back to AJAY but they didn't care one bit. So I went to their competitor in Beechwood and got a really nice price and great service.
