In January of 2022 we purchased an Andersen French Door from Home Depot in Toms River. The debacle began at the order and has continued for 3 years. After countless visits and a door which would not stay closed, several locks which were replaced and the hinges needing replacement, we are now, 3 years later, stuck with a door which has to be slammed so vigorously that we are afraid the glass will shatter. In the past 3 years we have had more than 10 visits and the Andersen door was either not installed properly or it is defective. I find it very difficult to reach anyone and am so disappointed in this service. read more

Im not exactly sure as to the why's of the overall rating of this store. I have to say that every single time I have been in this store and have needed help with something, the associates here always deliver. I am not handy in the least, however, everyone I have dealt with over the years has really seemed to care and has taken time to explain things. Today was the perfect example. I went in with a somewhat overwhelming shopping list for changing out all my outlets and switches. I have a friend coming in from a distance to do the work so I thought I would save time and get the stuff. Well I would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Frank for all his help! Talk about above and beyond customer service!!! I would have spent 2 hours staring at the shelves and he cut that down to 10 minutes. Helped me to not pick up a couple wrong items too! Came in 30 minutes before close and was quickly greeted with kind, understanding, and prompt service. I needed 2 quarts of paint and Bruce helped me make my selection, and very quickly helped me in and out. I've worked retail and I understand the frustration of customers walking in around closing time but I didn't feel rushed or that the employees were upset at all. Wonderful experience. read more

I did an online order for curbside picked I let them know I was there in spot 3. I waited 1hr in the car saying someone will be out soon. I have to compliment the kids workshop crew. The main guy Fred is as kid friendly as you can get and the whole workshop crew are very pleasant and accommodating to all the kids. We have a great time and look forward to each months workshop making some really nice things! I would like to add that this workshop has become very popular and crowded but is handled in an outstanding manner by Fred and Rita. In my 15+ years of bringing my kids to these workshops, I have to say it has never been better since Fred!! He's the perfect employee for the job and performs accordingly. Also having the Easter Bunny handing out surprise eggs to the kids made the kids VERY HAPPY. Home Depot doesn't have to do this but I do like the fact that they do and give back to the community in such a way. read more

The worst experience I have had. I have been a long time Toms River Home Depot customer for many years. I recently purchased an appliance which went on sale days later and have been unsuccessful in getting the sale price credited to back into my account. Spoke with the Manager who told me he would look into it and would call back the next day. I never heard back from them. To make matters worse the scheduled delivery of my appliance was delayed 2 different times for driver/helper issues after confirming the delivery date and within hours of my scheduled delivery times. Resulting in lost wages for my family because I had to take 3 different days off from work in a 2 week period in order to get the appliance that I desperately needed. NEVER AGAIN WILL I SHOP THERE! First of all, I question a person named Joshua who looks like a woman in her/his profile photo. Her/his review was not at all kind or accurate. People "looked at me strange" is not a review of the store. Sounds like this person has a grudge against a certain political party, and other reviewers found it funny. My experience in this store has always been positive. I never saw rats, or people gawking at me strangely. The employees have ALWAYS been most helpful and I have nothing bad to say about Home Depot because I was taught that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. I rarely leave reviews but I even downloaded Yelp just to leave this review which is pretty sad. I called tool rental in TR, brick & Lakewood for machine rental availability, Every single person sounded annoyed & didn't want to deal w/ you & rushed to get off the phone so I didn't bother asking any extra questions.I called TR tool rental one last time since they were closest & a new person picked up this time & was friendly to talk to - I'm pretty sure it was the younger kid worker.I go there to rent a machine & the trailer had 4+ lights out on the trailer and also a license light broken off (so 5 lights out total) so I made sure to make a video while in the parking lot.The machine had a fault code displayed on the dash. Since I planned on being back before dark I didn't mind the marker/license lights being out.I'm not new to gas engine/diesel/hydraulic repair (over 10+ yrs repairing them) & have worked at enough shops to know it's common practice to let a vehicle/equipment to be rented/used w/ a fault code displayed since some equipment will display a fault code for literally anything these days like low air psi or a light out or something minor.Figuring HD is a huge brand w/ good rep I assumed the fault was no big issue & I didn't want to waste my precious time researching the code since the 4hr rental countdown had started right after they put a hold on your cc. Isn't the timer supposed to start when you leave/loaded? Why am I paying an insane rate while someone is taking their time doin their pre trip inspection? I get machine home & before I even unload it I take a video of the hour meter, fuel gauge, fault code etc.Everything goes good for first hr but eventually got to the point it struggled to go up a small hill even w/ no load.I let it cool to give it a rest hoping to get some more productive time out of it but it still had lost power after cooling down so I could not finish my job.I called 2 diff phone #'s and just rang.By that time I knew I couldn't finish the job anyway so cleaned/fueled it.I finally got thru to someone & it was someone friendly, I believe it was the younger worker again he was helpful w/ the limited authority he had.When I brought it back he was busy assisting another customer, I saw a worker come out of tool rental w/ a clipboard figuring to do post trip inspection so I started to explain the situation as he was walking around the machine on trailer but he didn't seem to care what I was saying. He continued w/ his inspection.I was trying to explain/show which trailer lights were out & he said it was probably an issue w/ my truck wiring & not the trailer.I explained if one marker/clearance light is on then that means they all should be on, since it's all the same circuit, meaning it can't be an issue with my truck since it's putting out power to other operational lights.I was also trying to explain how the machine had a fault code on before I even took it off the trailer hence why I took a time stamped video showing the hr meter & the fault code.Specifically showing it's the same hr reading from when I picked it up so it couldn't be blamed on me but he ended up trying to blame it on me & making it sound like he's doing me a favor by not saying anything since I didn't take out the damage protection. Home Depot would keep their equipment maintained right? Or so I thought.But it's obvious the equipment is not maintained/inspected at all (no fresh grease seen either/the boom even squeaked during operation proving the lack of maintenance along with the inoperative 5 trailer lights and fault code.) So essentially I received a faulty machine & faulty trailer WITH documentation of everything but he didn't want to listen & kept speaking over me.He ended up giving me a discount I still wasn't happy w/ but I didn't have time to argue I was losing money by the minute & lost money on the job as it is since I couldn't even finish the job! All this could have been easily prevented if someone did their job/inspections.He didn't care to listen to what I had to say anyway so no point to waste my energy if someone only hears but not listens.He said most people wouldn't let a few lights out stop them from taking the trailer anyway as if to justify having 5 lights out is ok or acceptable? I know a friend that does DOT on road inspections and he would have had a field day w/ that trailer and the most likely 'pencil-whipped' inspection paperwork. It's obvious the lights wasnt checked after last rental & not even a visual inspection was done or else they would have noticed the broken license light. I rather pay higher rates from Herc rental (or jersey rents) right down the road than go thru this potential trouble again. I work on many contractor's trucks that spend a lot of money at Home Depot & will pass on my experience with them so it can't happen to them too. read more

Was on my way home from work the other day, and I needed a few things; normally I shop at Lowe's of TR but this was closer. I was pleasantly surprised with their selection on color swatches. When I was done shopping, I got in queue for their self checkout and the girl who was taking care of self check was very friendly and knowledgeable- and honestly she had amazing contour and no upper lip caterpillar, unlike the she beast at Lowe's. I might even consider coming to Home Depot more than Lowe's now for the soul fact that they hire people who A. know what they're doing- and B. don't need a personal John Deere mower for their lip garden. Bought 5 gallons of Behr stain that didn't quite match so we needed it tinted. Called the store and told NP so we dragged it back in and once there we were told it couldn't be done/they didn't know how their new system could handle this request. How odd being told one thing at time of purchase, reassured thereafter and then turned down.. Anyway, since this didn't make sense we took it to the Lakewood store and lo and behold the answer was very positive. Yes, it did take some doing but this is what we paid for so this is what we had expected/hoped to achieve. Nothing frosts me more than a retail associate that can't be bothered to investigate a question opting for a simple dismissive response that flies in the face of sensibility and reality. If they don't enjoy their job they should move aside. If they don't understand their job then training and/or placement needs to be reconsidered. Otherwise, as a consumer paying lofty prices for goods at home improvement stores, qualified and capable assistance should not be as challenging as it has become. Then there's the occasional bright light that restores ones' faith in the brick and mortar experience that calls for a noteworthy review. So, if you need paint/stain etc this should be your point of purchase and assistance. If Debbie and Eric? are there you're sure to leave a happy camper. read more

My wife and I were trying to purchase a washer dryer stackable set. The salesman sold us everything but the stack on kit, which I had to order over the phone After taking 4 hours off work and waiting they arrived without the stack on kit. The driver said he could leave the appliances in my kitchen. I refused the delivery and called the home depot. home depot re-assured me that the appliances would be delivered with the needed stack on kit I waited all day Saturday to find out the same thing, no stack on kit on the truck. I refused the second delivery I went to the Home Depot and no one could give me a solid answer so I asked for a full refund. Tool rental department wouldn't wait 5 minutes for me to put gas in van. Arrived at 7:55. Charged me $221 for the van.

I am a regular customer of HD. Usually the experience is acceptable but Friday April 14 it was awful. I ordered bathroom tile in store with (David--great guy and very helpful) and picked it up later in the day through customer service. They were helpful as possible but it took 40 minutes to get the tile (which was supposed to go to outdoor pickup) to the service counter area where I eventually discovered it. Took another 15 minutes to get an HD employee to get it to the truck (weighs 375 lbs). One case was totally shattered and another 10 minutes to get another back to the truck. Once at home I discovered another tile cracked. Not surprising the handlers were rough...each box held 12 tiles and weighed 60 pounds. Greater part of the work day lost. Then I discover the online order did not ship the bathroom shower diverter valve and cover handle...instead two faucets were included. I think that was not a mistake but pure laziness on the part of the item packer...only one vanity and shower system was ordered. I am a regular customer and fairy large consumer (for not being a professional). Overall the service desk tried to be helpful but the overall experience was frustrating and just plain awful. I do business with the Montivlle, NJ store and never seem to have any problems. read more

My husband and I were looking for an oven.The price was low and we asked the salesman if this was correct and he assured us it was.After doing more research we came back the following day to purchase it.The numbers on the ticket did not match the numbers inside the oven.If we would have bought it we would have gotten the wrong oven.We got help from another associate and told her that this was their error and we should get the oven for the price on the ticket.She had to get approval from a manager who came over to speak to us and was very rude.Almost accusing us of changing the ticket.And said do you expect me to give this to you at this price??? Wayne Torzilli and associate RF Installations are absolutely horrible to work with. They don't return phone calls (5) or emails (1). I told them by phone and email that I needed a saturday for installation so what do they give me ... a Friday. I had trouble also setting up the measurement time. Home Depot contracts them out to install doors. Look at all the complaints on YELP and BBB. I am not alone with the problems. They are dragging HOme Depot's name down. At this point, I am considering canceling the order. H D will lose a $900 sale. read more

INCOMPETENT INSTALLERS DAMAGED MY HOME, LIED AND MESSED UP THE JOB AND HD WONT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEM. Ordered a very large amount of carpet to be installed by HD installers. We were told that we needed to order a significant amount of additional carpet because there was a "pattern match" on the carpet and they needed extra to make sure that the seams weren't visible. After 6.5 hours of installation, the installers left and we noticed that 5 out of the 6 seams were NOT done well. One was so bad that there were threads sticking out of the seam. In addition, they had knocked two holes in our walls that now needed to be repaired. Upon their inspection, they said that they needed to call HD to make sure that they could get additional carpet from the same dye lot to repair the areas needed to be redone. A week later, they showed up to repair their mistakes. One of the seams was in a closet so we weren't all that concerned about that one. They said that they had ordered extra materials but strangely never brought it into the house. (seems a bit odd that they would go through the trouble of checking on dye lots and such to never even bother bringing it into the house....perhaps they had another job to use it on....the floors in their homes probably look incredible) They fixed 2 seams to the point that you cant see the seams at all but when they went to fix the really bad one, they merely stretched the carpet a bit and hardly matched the pattern. When I said to them that the seam was still clearly visible, the installer said that I was wrong and this is how its supposed to look. At this point, It had been 3/5 hours and I was eager to get to the hospital where my mother had just had surgery the day before and didn't have the patience to argue with someone who clearly wasn't going to admit any fault. I mentioned the holes in the walls which he completely dismissed, handed me a piece of paper to sign and was very obviously finished with me and the job. The following day, when I had more time to look at the job done, I noticed that not only had they knocked holes in my wall but they had created a gash around every wall's baseboard like they had cut the carpet right against the walls (a direct quote from Maria the Toms River store co-manager). So now I have 2 holes in my walls, 3 mismatched seams, and a gash running all around my entire 2nd floor baseboards. When talking to HD customer care, they acted very concerned and offered to have a store manager and installation manager come look at the issues. Maria, one of the store managers showed up and was very pleasant. Little did I know that she was being sweet to my face while standing in my home but she would literally screw me in the end. Maria and her installation manager took photos and acknowledged that things were clearly not done correctly. She made mention multiple times about how the company absolutely would take care of these issues and I shouldn't worry. HA! The following day, I received a call from Maria stating that HD would reimburse me $450 for my trouble. Done, thats it....no other offer. After telling her that this was absolutely unacceptable, she went to her district manager and came back to me with an offer of $500 compensation (mind you the entire job was almost $3700). I was offered either this compensation or I could have the same incompetent, lying installation crew back in my house to try to fix all of their mistakes/damage. I told her that that was not an option because I had no trust for these people and would accept 1/3 of the cost to hire someone to do all of the repairs myself and to make up for the colossal amount of time that I had wasted thus far. At this point, HD customer care got involved and contacted the district manager on my behalf. She came back with an offer of $600 to just forget about all of the issues and to accept the mistakes and damage done to my home or forgo the compensation and have the same installation company come out again to repair the damage to my home. At this point (now Maria on conference call with us) Maria informed me that the installation company did not believe that they could actually repair the seams and that any attempt would, in fact, make it worse. Again, I told her that this was unacceptable because that meant that we would be barely compensated for something that would never be done correctly. But thats it....HD refuses to take responsibility for their mistakes and we just have to live with it. SHAME ON YOU HOME DEPOT, DISTRICT MANAGER ERIC AND STORE CO-MANAGER MARIA!! read more

We bought a stand up fan last week and the woman at the register said we could get a discount because it was a floor model. She tried calling the manager from that department but they couldn't be reached (the store was about to close). She said come back another day so we did. The woman at the return register was so beyond rude to us. She eventually said she would give a 10% discount off the original price but she refused to give him his military discount.. Which meant there would be no difference in the amount that we had previously paid. She said she wouldn't honor both discounts. We kept asking for a manager and she kept insisting that was the best that could be done. We started walking away to look for a manager ourselves and she finally honored his military discount. I was looking for a refrigerator, it took about 20 minutes on hold on the telephone to get someone to ask a few questions. The young lady was what I thought to be as helpful as possible. She explained to me she was the only one, the other associate was missing. Later on in the day I stopped in the store. I had to hunt an associate down to help me. I found the 2 of the large appliance workers wandering aimlessly through the store together. They were clueless about everything except the fact that if you buy a large appliance, have it delivered, and later on it starts making horrible noises, so sad to bad for you, you signed for it you "own the problem also". Never ever buy a large appliance at Home Depot. read more
