Searching for a lunch spot on a trip home from New Jersey, and this little place popped up. From the street, it is a small little store front with a handful of parking spots out front. They seemed to be doing a lot of takeout business but, we were the only diners inside. They have a cozy seating area with a row of booths plus a few tables. The menu is a huge array of asian fusion favorites including japanese, chinese and thai dishes. We ordered the spicy basil chicken, massaman curry, and a side of veggie fried rice. The meals came with miso soup or a house salad. We were very happy with the amount of fresh vegetables in our meals and how well perfectly al dente the carrots were cooked. The owner claims that we ate the food!!! We couldn't even chew through it! Not only that, I will never eat sushi that smells like sardines. It should smell like fresh ocean. My family and I were raised working at the South St., Seaport in New York City. This is not good sushi. It's rubbery, tough and stink stinks like sardines. I ordered through DoorDash, and notified them about the quality of fish. When I called your establishment, a young girl answered and told me someone would get back to me. Nobody got back to me. There is a reason why you have a low rating on your restaurant, but a friend of mine suggested your establishment - but she only orders cooked food. The health department should be called on you! How can you even think of serving this type of dangerous food to people? Again, it was not eaten, we had to leave it in the fridge overnight so that we can throw it into our dumpster. What a shame. Came here with a fairly large group and we were able to be seated right away. We ordered the sushi/sashimi for 4 and the sushi for 2, which come with a miso soup or salad per person. I order the General Tso's Chicken Combination platter and a Salmon side. The race was mushy and had a weird after taste of preservative or something. There were was very few pieces of pork in the rice as well. The egg rolls were terrible and small. They use egg roll wrapping but make them spring roll size. The chicken was good and I like the spiciness, definitely the saving grace for this meal. The salmon side was ok! All in all, it was worth the try but I'll look elsewhere in the future. read more

The Asian food - decent to good - depending on how busy they are... Their sushi - it's not the worst but certainly not the best around. Iron chef or Yunes for sushi. BUT - The Indian curry dishes - OH EM GEE!!! Yum!!! Here's my gripe with Aji - the kitchen makes a pineapple fried rice, but they won't put pineapple if you substitute for rice NOODLES. Drive by here every so often making deliveries and wanted to try them for lunch. The lady that takes the orders and severs the food was very nice and polite, did not feel rushed to order and thankful to have business. The tuna dumplings were very delicious, a lot filling in them and overall well seasoned inside and outside the dumpling, plus plenty of sauce drizzled on so no need to dip. I do wish dumplings held up more since they broke apart as I tried to pick them up. Haha. Next the fancy tuna roll, well seasoned like the dumplings and plenty of sauce too boot, plenty of filling and unlike the dumplings totally dip able. Haha. The pepper tuna piece on top was best part and like the chef's kiss to the roll. Also it was nice other the usual fortune cookie you get with your check, they give you a perfectly cut orange as a refreshing after meal treat. After a little hike up on the trails, inadequately prepared such is why it twas a shortlived excursion, we exited hungry and uninspired to cook. After wearing totally incorrect footwear (muckity muck and dirty dirt everywhere) basic survival supplies, but no backpack and only a giant water in a giant plastic container, so that didn't make it either. There were mushrooms and those ribbon cut flat carrots which I don't care for - I like the circular cuts - baby corn - some rubbery seafood (the texture of this mysterious seafood I knew to be rubbery in texture) damn, I'm gonna have to refer back to the menu. The sweet wings whose name I'll be exact upon on my meal name return rewrite - I'd do it more hastily if I had a moments inclination that any of y'all would be up that way in a half a days time -- I'll be going under the assumption that is not likely to happen. I hate sticky fingers and these wings and drumettes were fly trap sticky, so I cut some napkin strips and made little ring shaped holders which worked out quite well. Each were priced at a dollar which I felt was a fair value.. My order was for takeout, so I only got a fleeting look at the inside dining area which was quite large, given the store front. Green ferns and other green florals were low but evenly spread about giving a nice south east Asian feel, a Buddah statue and a greenish base to the bar.I should have eaten in and absorbed more but we were running the train of where to stealth camp so scouting our options was the priority. read more

Decided to give Aji a shot since they're on DoorDash and we didn't feel like going out tonight. If you're going to be on these services you need to pay attention to the special requests section. Wife is on a restricted diet right now and got her steamed chicken with mixed vegetables. I stated that she is allergic to mushroom please no mushroom. Thankfully she checked first since she found mushroom under the chicken. For myself I ordered beef chow fun. Nice ratio of beef and not too many veggies. It was a tad on the bland side though. Rather "regular" "unfavorable" lobster & steak Turf and Surf Lobster and (tepid) Steak with (hot) soup and (tepid) Hibachi rice are simply "okay" tonight . Not sure who's the Chef at Aji Asian Cuisine tonight.. Lobster isn't quality in texture nor special in its preparation, in fact disappointing ... Steak is weak, flavorless. Tonight takes away my previously higher expectations from Aji . Average tonight, not good def not delicious.. no longer exceptional. I hope the regular Chef just wasn't in. When we sat down, they gave us two menus. We ordered from one and they charged the higher prices on the second menu. They should never have given us a menu if they were not going to honor those prices. Every table had both menus. And they double charged for the soda. We discovered Aji which was only a few minutes away and their menu had a selection of Thai, Chinese and sushi !! So this is one of the better sushi places I've been in food wise. Their chairs are a little unforgiving and not meant to be comfortable for long periods of time. This place is a byob which is nice. We've been here twice now. The first time was great. The menu lets you have almost anything you're craving on the Asian food spectrum. The sushi tastes fresh and light. Their version of crab rangoons called money bags are delicious. The second time we went however to me was a bit of a let down. We got sushi, Panang curry, and the money bags. We were given free fried ice cream. The battered out side was soft and mushy, I couldn't eat it anyways but it did not present as appetizing. The temperature must've hit about 80 degrees as we were both sweating. Though we were the only ones in the restaurant for eat in it felt incredibly stuffy. The waitress seems to know little English and is very friendly but also very excitable as well as seems like she can't wait for you to be gone. The food isn't terrible and the atmosphere isn't unpleasant. But I'm not sure I'd advise others go here. read more

Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Their special roll menu has some of the most creative concoctions for sushi I've seen yet... And I've tried many places in Orange/Rockland/Ulster county. Rock Shrimp is great! If you take it to go make sure you get the coconut sauce on the side because the batter on the shrimp will get soggy fast. They just recently opened and I haven't tried too many things on the menu yet (5 rolls and a few appetizers) but my staff and I order from here frequently over the past couple of months and we haven't yet had any complaints. read more

What a great place! Looking for a place opened on Christmas Day and happened upon this place. We had a party of 10 and luckily it was early enough they said the could accommodate us. The service was attentive. And all the dishes came promptly and well prepared. The sashimi dishes in particular were nicely presented and had a great variety. Great quality fish and nice thick sashimi pieces. My daughter loved that the had a bento box that had yellowtail/tuna sashimi and a avocado eel roll. Very nice portions too.
