Rame Nesque ended up being one of those really cool AND unexpected stops after wrapping up with some errands in Peekskill on an early Tuesday. The space stands out quick for their rustic-y feel. Even with that wood-heavy inside, the local artist paintings on their walls, add pops of color and balance everything real nice. The service was welcoming and attentive. And the ramen was totally delicious. We both went with the vegan option, which is always mine since I don't eat meat. Even though my husband is all about meat, when it comes to ramen, he happily follows my lead. The vegan broth+ veggies were tasty. Beautiful place recently relocated to Division Street in Peekskill, live music every third Thursday of the month jazz live band. Always talented "cats"playing. The owner walks a tight rope, between pretension and pride for these incredibly delicious Korean dishes. Make an ignorant comment mistaking these dishes for anything other than Korean is a big mistake. You will be corrected curtly if there's such a word. Forgive my American ignorance. Bottom line is I love the food here. I can get past someone with a slight attitude/chip on the shoulder/slightly elitist attitude trying to distance themselves with affiliations with Japanese or Chinese food. So glad I tried here for some hot ramen on a cold windy day. I ordered to go, it was a short wait, the stuff was very friendly and glad to get customers. I had the nin niku ramen with wagyu beef brisket. Man first wagyu beef brisket was never on my bingo card for ramen topping, it was smoky and tender. The broth was amazing, love the garlic flavor and the noodles were chewy but not gummy. Had tickets to the theater around the block and I love soup during the colder months and decided to give it a try. Service was good and the owner was very friendly also. If I have to nitpick it would be that I like my soup hot temperature wise but I find most restaurants seem to be afraid of serving hot soup . So, as a bar, it is pretty great...but, as a restaurant it is pretty disappointing. It has "ramen" in the name, so I'm reviewing this place as the latter. Inside is cute; it feels like a cozy pub. They have a full bar and the bartender who got my phone order was super cool. My food was ready so fast after I called in! I tried the kimchi pancake (this was more like a red-colored potato pancake - there wasn't much kimchi, if any?) & the Tonkotsu Ramen. The ramen I got with pork, and that was fine, but the added things were a half egg (for $1 - I guess the regular serving only comes with one half to begin with) and extra veggies (this was basically a can of corn and maybe a handful of some greens). This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we did not have a reservation. Thankfully, we were still seated within 20 minutes and the staff was considerate of the fact we brought kids. They are clearly child friendly which appears deceiving due to the bar set up in the front. The location is not loud and there are two separate dining areas with a different atmosphere. The front is more of a date setting vibe whereas the back seems more fit for larger parties with the ability to put together more tables. Most importantly, the food tasted great. Unfortunately the Dan Dan ramen did not satisfy my taste buds, I pride myself in knowing what an authentic ramen taste like and while it wasn't awful it certainly didn't feel authentic, I've never had ramen with spinach and onion, you normally get bok choy, mushrooms etc . First let me say this is one of the few places we have ever eaten at where, when we asked about garlic in the ramen, my wife gets violently ill when she eats too much(goodbye Italian restaurants), the chef came out to explain how the ramen had garlic but... and then she named which dishes were garlic free. She also spent time explaining how much garlic went into the broth. A very positive beginning. Chelsea was our server but everyone working there seemed to be at every table. The food was fantastic. I ordered the spicy ramen and it had just the right heat The wife decided to give the veggie ramen a shot and she survived!! I had a draft beer and she had a Hibiscus cocktail (see the photo ). You can never go wrong with a draft Sapporo and she loved her cocktail. I just wish this place was not 70 minutes from where we live but when I am in that area I will definitely eat here. The last time that I was there, the wait staff and manager is very kind and offered assistance as I currently am dealing with a medical ailment that causes me difficultly walking. They were able to assist me in getting me seated in an area that would be most accommodating as well as asking if I needed anything else. The service was fast and efficient and I felt like we didn't have to wait very long to get help. In fact at one point one my fiancé and I were both ready for the check, I looked up at the waitress and she immediately came right over to assist. We ordered the Japanese Curry, one with Katsu and the other with tonkatsu, for takeout. Picked it up about 10 minutes after it was ready, and drove back to our hotel, another 10 minutes. The packaging was brilliant. The curry is kept in a separate container to the rice and Katsu to prevent it from getting soggy. It's also beneath the rice and Katsu and seems to act like a hot plate, as everything was still piping hot. Rice was great, Katsu and tonkatsu cooked properly, but not really seasoned. The curry smelled nice, like the curry sauce from a British chip shop, it had loads of carrots and some potato, and was a good consistency. However, it wasn't particularly spicy at all. If we're on a 1-10 scale for spiciness, I'd say it was a 1. I prefer somewhere more like a 3, where you can taste some spiciness, but don't get that assault on taste buds. The service has improved, I love the expanded space and the outdoor seating in nice weather, the added types of ramen choices and the array of craft beers and sake they have. My new fav is the veg tom yum broth that has the perfect lemongrass and subtle spice to it. Clears the sinuses without scorching the tastebuds.
