Finally tried AJ's. Normally the drive-thru is wrapped around the little building but the line was short because it was almost closing time. They had a great selection and friendly service. It did take longer than expected but it was tasty and cheap. We ordered a small mango snow cone, a medium Superman, and a mangonada, totaling to $7.00. Very refreshing on a hot day like this. Okay so it was my first time here because my suburbian friend raves about this place and though it took 43.5 minutes to get an order in (my patience was good today), it was worth it! Really more than it just being cheap, it was good. I'm usually a Bahama bucks type of gal because they have a lot of flavors and they used shaved ice but the AJ's snowcones use shaved iced as well and has a pretty decent menu and they're very accomodating. Will come back when I'm out in the 'burbs during the summer time. Also, they have two sides to order from in the drive thru in case anyone is here for the first time and gets confused. read more

The lines are usually long but that should only tell you one thing: BEST. SNOWCONES. EVER. I LOVE it here. They don't skimp out on the syrup so my snowcone always has the perfect amount of ice & syrup. At other places I've had to ask and PAY extra to get syrup which was annoying. What can I say that hasn't already been said about AJ's Snowcones? For one the wait is well worth it because the flavors are excellent. They are definitely made and not store bought flavors. The blended coffee drink is perfect. Not too sweet but just right. My family and I visit at least once a week. The staff that runs the place are always friendly and i will always choose to come back to a business where the workers are happy! Had my first experience there and it was great. Good snowcones, this place gives you a lot of syrup. And I mean A LOT. The prices are good, especially compared to Sno Beach in Friendswood 10 min down the street. It is half the price or less than Sno Beach. I also like that they have other snack foods and their own combinations. I was cynical but the customer service was "normal" as in they took my order, did it correctly, gave me correct change and said thank you. That's what I expect at a basic minimum so it wasn't over the top great or totally terrible. But I was cynical because of the bad review below on yelp - I hate bad customer service and I will be avoiding it if I can by not coming in close to closing time. Again, the price will make me come back and the fact there are other snacks/ice cream. That way if you go with a group not everyone has to get a sno cone. 7/10/2010 This is a relatively new business in Pearland. Their primary focus is snow cones but they serve other snack foods and milk shakes (strawberry, mango, banana and cantaloupe) . Thus far, after 5 visits I still have only sampled the snow cones. Never disappointing, they have many flavors that they can combine for specialty cones and are very tasty. My favorite thus far, and what I think sets this shaved ice place apart from others are their house-made flavors. Today we had the tamarind and the limon blanco. They also have leche flavor. No question, these natural flavors far outshine the commercial ones. On a previous visit I had the vanilla flavor and was pleasantly surprised at how light and flavorful this was. On flavor basis alone I would rate this place a 5 however, in my opinion the experience could be better with this change: -the menu sign posted on the side of the building is hard to read from a car or prior to reaching the order window. Lowering the sign slightly, enlarging it and tilting it toward the approaching car would ease the decision/ordering process. I think as it is it slows down the process. Note that this is a cash only business. The prices are very reasonable. A small cone will set you back only a dollar. A large only 2.50. Extra added flavors are $0.25. Tax included in all prices. This is drive-up only. Traffic would make walk-up hazardous but there are usually picnic tables with umbrella shade nearby if you are so inclined to stay and munch. If I am ever able to choose away from the sno cones I will review the milk shakes and other menu items but so far the variety in cones flavors will keep us busy for a while to come. 4/22/2012 Love this place. Someone in the family is begging me to stop here at least once a week. Often more. My favorites have remained their homemade recipe for Limon Blanco and Tamarindo sno-cones. The fam hasn't found one they don't like. Today I tried a new flavor. I was not familiar with this concoction but, now that I am, I am a true follower... Chamoyada. The owner tried her best to describe to me what it was. It is another of their personal recipes from Mexico that is sweet, salty, tangy and ever so mildly spicy in the fruit flavor of strawberry or mango. I had the strawberry. It costs slightly more than the other flavors but, sooooo worth it. I immediately came home to look up what this flavor was and here's Wiki's answer: "Chamoy refers to a variety of savory sauces and condiments in Mexican cuisine made from pickled fruit. Chamoy may range from a liquid to a paste consistency, and typically its flavor is salty, sweet, sour and spiced with powdered chiles all at the same time." RJ's is not spicy yet the after effect of a mouthful leaves an ever so slight warmth in your mouth. The salt taste is mild and a fun surprise flavor. The closest I can come to describing this from my reference point is if you sprinkle cold juicy watermelon with a tiny bit of salt. Very refreshing. read more

Okay so this was part our daily routine last summer until they closed for the winter. But since it's spring time we're coming for another round. This is our second time going this year and let me say the first time we went when they opened again we had chunks of ice in our snowcones. Today when we got them they were pretty good and had no ice chunks. Pretty reasonable prices but did go up 25 cents since last year. So I have been driving past this place for over a year and every weekend I ALWAYS see a line wrapped around it! I always told myself I'd stop by one day to see what all the buzz was about but it took me awhlie because when does one just randomly crave JUST a snowcone? Well. NOW I GET IT. I drove through on Friday (they have TWO drive thru's BTW, VERY efficient) and it is WAYYY more than just snow cones. I mean it is, but theres like 60 flavors primarily to keep focus on the snowcones, mangonadas topped with chamoy, plenty of other options and sizes and even snacks if you're feeling hungry. I plan on coming back to try the chamoy as well as a cup of corn!! I got a root beer flavor and my sister got the silver fox (MUST TRY THIS). I was amazed at how well the flavors were distributed within the entire cone, not just sitting at the top and not all syrup-y on the bottom. I definitely foresee myself sitting for about 10 minutes in 100 degree weather waiting for a snowcone in the near future. Can't wait to come back and try the snacks! read more

The Snowcones here are so cheap and the owners are really nice. The ice is soft and they give you plenty of syrup. The drive thru line can be fairly busy on the weekends so be prepared to wait . They also have elotes and mangonadas here which are also delicious. read more

This place has good desserts and we frequently made trips across Pearland to get a treat. The reason for the rating is their customer service. My wife and I made a special trip to the shop for a snow one one day and pulled up 10 minutes before closing. The shades were pulled down but there were people inside. We waited a few minutes at one window and eventually pulled around to the second. No one informed us that it near the closing hour but instead walked out the rear of the shop to their truck. I called out to them and they ignored me. I then pulled up next her and told her how rude that was to just ignore someone. She said, we are closed and closed her truck door. It's too bad, we liked AJs but won't return unless I hear something from the owner. I tried to contact the owner through Facebook and all of my wall posts were deleted. I also plan to inform everyone about this through all social media. Pretty irritated how I support a local business and they acted like that. read more

I have been craving corn in a cup forever but didn't want to drive more than 20 minutes to get it, and after a lot of Yelping I found this place. And I'm really glad I did because it did fulfill my cravings. I like to eat my corn in a cup with some shaved ice for dessert and this place, if you didn't guess from the name, has that too. This place is a drive thru which is nice because you get your stuff pretty quickly, but I kind of wish they had their own sit down location aside from the couple of tables set outside! They have a lot of flavors and the small shaved ice, which is more than enough for me, is only $1.25! The ice isn't super hard and icy like a normal snow cone would be but its not super smooth like Hawaiian shaved ice would be. But it's still super yummy and they don't skimp out on the amount of syrup they use. The corn was in a slightly bigger cup and it was really delicious!! They also offer Cheetos & cheese, nachos, milk shakes and hot cocoa for the winter season! Really good place, will be back often :) read more
