The rental was pretty easy, but staffing seemed to be an issue. We ordered food, and it took a while and then they forgot our drinks the first time around. $5.46 for a fountain soda is really crazy, but they make their money off food and beverages. We still ordered it! We got chicken tenders and fries, also not bad for what it was. Coming in, we knew we're paying a lot of money so it didn't hurt to see the money disappear lol Their arcade area was decent, there was a huge empty space and their photobooth was out of order. One of the main attractions at Mavrix is bowling. Another is laser tag. I passed on both and checked out the arcade instead. It was time well spent because it's a pretty awesome arcade. I've been to the Bowlero in North Scottsdale and it's smaller than this one. Here, you have a bunch of fighting and driving games, interspersed with carnival-style games. I played 10 or so games total in about an hour. Wednesday is a great day to go because the games are 50% off. I didn't come away empty-handed either. With the tickets I won, I redeemed them in their prize room. It's a pretty large room too, with more prizes available than the North Scottsdale location. While I didn't have many tickets, I had enough for two pieces of candy and a T-Rex toy. Outside of what I mentioned, Mavrix has plenty of areas to sit, including a full bar. I haven't had food or drinks here, but I did take a look at the menu and it's a pretty extensive one. Definitely nicer overall than your typical bowling alley.

What I hoped to be a happy memory for me ended up being one of frustration. My breakdown of the 2 stars - 1) my kids enjoyed their time here and 2) the customer service during the visit was good. The huge issue behind the low rating was being double charged and what I felt was the lack of urgency in getting it resolved. I ended up having to hound them for information as I was not getting the call backs that I requested. One of the managers that I spoke with did add me to his email to corporate for help in getting this resolved. After 7 days of making first contact, I finally received my refund of the erroneous double charge and wanted to leave my thoughts. When I'm out an extra $100+ that I did not authorize, I am going to hound until I get it back. This is not small change, not to me at least and I'm sure many folks, so the lack of urgency was irritating. I also feel like if I was not on top of this matter and pressuring corporate into acting, it would have taken a lot longer than 7 days for the refund. Please, CHECK YOUR ACCOUNT ASAP after visiting here. If I do return, everything will be paid for in cash since they have broken my trust in processing electronic payments correctly.
