I just took my Cavalier King Charles there yesterday. Right off one of the groomers named Marissa came up to greet him and I. I was so pleased with this facility...let me tell you. I know it was just the first time coming, so I didn't know what to expect but they really did great. We had to say goodbye to Aristocrats in GG after almost ten years of taking our dog there when they closed Dec 23rd (our Cav was the last customer). Update.. Jan 20th My vet confirmed what I already knew .. ALL my dogs nails were cut at the quick (?) easy to see on one of my dogs because he's got white nails. My dogs have been here a few times and this has never happened in fact one of my dogs. I would bring back every now and then just for the nails because the nails are long now they're all short on all my dogs. They are traumatized not only did. I discover that the gums, especially on my white dog are very inflamed the vet saw that as well they are using regular toothbrushes on dogs, and those are not supposed to be used for that purpose. Also, both sides of my dog are burned one side when I brought him had a little itch there, but the other side was burned so yeah, lotta issues now that the owner isn't there. Sad thing is I don't even get a oh I'm sorry all Marissa (?) kept saying is no that's not true !! Omg arguing with a vet shame on her! PS Max was treated for ANOTHER ear infection, now I know it's from them ... 2nd time it's happened in 6 months from them !! Only ear infection he's had was when I got him 12 years ago read more

This is my go to place for pet grooming for my 7 year old dog. She is a poodle terrier mix and is always scared to go to the groomers. After 3-4 different places, we found that this grooming salon did the best job and was the most consistent. They also don't raise the prices significantly, which is nice. Included is a hair cut, nail cutting, and a wash. Usually we show them pictures to explain what kind of cut we want and after we get her back, she looks pretty close. After the 3-4 time, they pretty much know what we want. The establishment is owned by an older couple who are friendly and have been in Cypress for a while now. Their groomers also seem to be consistent as we get the same lady, Donna, every time. There are many different options to choose from, but this is definitely a solid place! read more

Least expensive groomer I've seen. Both of my dogs needed their nails trimmed. And, of course, I waited til the last second to get them done. Mostly because my little one has been fired by 2 other groomers for being... feisty lol. I found a groomer on Yelp and was driving towards them but, I missed their location and was making a u-turn when I chanced upon Ak-sar-Ben. I went in to ask about grooming and was able to make an appt for the next day. This was a few months ago. I was also able to bring in my big dog that afternoon for a quick nail trim. Fast forward to Dec 22, and I brought them both in for a nail trim. I really need to plan ahead. Anyhoo... it's cash or check only. (Do people still have/use checks?). I'm sure that's how they're able to keep their costs down. They're busy, so that's a good sign. Lots of repeat customers. And the owners are sweet - petting my dogs and giving them treats. I also like that they put bandannas on my dogs and not ribbons and bows. They're both female, but I hate bows. I definitely recommend you give ask-Sar-Ben a try. Idk what their name means. Walking distance from my house. Decided to go in for 2 dog anal glands and nail trim. They were friendly and my dogs weee seen immediately.

This is to review the owner. The gentleman who answered the phone was nice and accommodating. I have a mini doodle - Shepard. The gentleman stated he had an opening on the date I asked if we can come in. He then put me on hold and spoke with owner and I could hear everything being said between the two. The owner says "no" tell her this is our first available appointment- three weeks out from the date I requested. Again this is the owner, she did not ask if I had a small dog, weight any information before saying no just off of hearing it's a doodle. She was rude, didn't ask any information before about my dog saying no. Seems if you have a doodle don't bring it here also who wants to go to a groomer that is that inconsiderate of customers hearing everything on the phone. read more

Its been many years since my last review, so, time to update! We bring our pit bull, Willow, here for grooming. They love and adore her, which is great, because so many people (even Veterinarians!) are afraid of pits. Some people may think why would a pit bull need grooming? For such a reasonable price, she gets a bath, ears cleaned, teeth brushed, anal glands expressed (externally) and her nails trimmed. She comes home smelling amazing and her coat shines beautifully. Always with a cute scarf, bow or flower to boot! The owners, Kathy and Harold, feel just like family. All of the groomers are great! They treat your pet just as their own. I put off getting my senior cat groomed for way too long because quite frankly, I was nervous about the process. As a result, she was very matted. Kathy did an amazing job of not only removing the mats, but preserving the rest of her fur so she didn't end up naked and cold this winter. Her fur is so soft and shiny now. I brought my dog here from a friend's recommendation. Petco had groomed my dog before I came here, but it cost close to $70 and took them 5 hours to do it, meaning they were always overbooked/understaffed and kept my dog locked inside a cage while he waited his turn. Imagine how anxious and stressed he must have been for so long! Aksarben is a family owned business in a quiet plaza across from Forest Lawn where Sojuya is. They are upfront about their prices and don't accept your proposed appointment time if they know they're going to be too busy. Instead they will suggest a different time slot when they will be able to pay better attention to your pet. Their goal is to have a great grooming session completed within 2 hours so the pet doesn't get too anxious while they are away from their owners. I paid $45 for my dog's bath and haircut here. Their styling is much better than Petco's! My mini poodle mix's teddy bear style face is actually much cuter at Aksarben! They gave him a cute bandana and fluffed him up. He was so soft and fluffy and smelled good. I knocked off 1 star though because I found a small cut between the pads of his paws and on his neck but nobody told me. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt this time though and assume that maybe they didn't notice because I admit the cuts are really small and weren't bleeding when I found them. Also they accept only cash or checks so I had to stop by the bank before picking him up. That was a bit of a hassle on a busy Saturday morning. Either way, I'm bringing my dog back for his next grooming and hopefully I won't see any cuts on him next time! read more

Ak-Sar-Ben or Nebraska for short is my new favorite place for my puppy. I was super nervous about trying a new place but I am SO happy that I did! My dog used to scream....literally scream when I took her to the groomers. I brought her to Nebraska and when I picked her up there was no sound.....it was completely quiet and yet the place was full of dogs. They brought my newly made over puppy to me and she was SMILING! No joke! She was smiling and quiet! Amazing! I will never take her anywhere else again. Everyone there was very sweet and best of all, you could see how much love they had for all of their clients. This place is absolutely paw-fect! Yes, I know that was a horrible play on words, but this place is really fantastic. My dog can get a little sassy when he's being bathed and groomed. Once while he was getting a haircut, he bit the groomer! Yikes! My dog is a bit of a scared-y cat at times. Whenever we go to the groomer's, he's always shaking and whining in the car. Then when I bring him in to the groomers, he always tries to run in the opposite direction. Needless to say, my dog can be a handful. Despite all this, Ak-Sar-Ben Grooming Salon is willing to work with my dog. Usually the process of both of a shower and a trim will take about 2-3 hours. My dog is on the medium side and is a terrier mix. Once they are done, they will call you at the most convenient number. The cost is $40 for both of these services. And to make your little pup even more adorable, they usually put a bandana on. I think it's the most adorable thing in the world. It's cute because they will theme the bandana according to the season. The only "negative" that I can think of is when my family and I were trying to make an appointment, we couldn't get a hold of the groomers. We weren't sure if they were on vacation, but there mail box was completely full so we weren't able to leave a message. Of course, this is completely minor. This place still merits 5 stars for doing such a great job working with our beloved four-legged best friends! read more

My family and I love Kathy! She is the nicest groomer that I have ever met, and I truly appreciate how she handles my dog, Bailey (Bailey has trust issues because of abuse before a rescue saved her), and our youngest, Riley. Recently my husband and I rescued a German Shepherd mix, Riley. We began bringing her to see Kathy since we have taken Bailey for the past 9 years, but like most dogs Riley isn't a fan of baths or being away from us. She will pull away, but Kathy has been so great in letting us pick Riley up and take her in the back ourselves. And when we go to pick her back up once the grooming is complete, Riley is so happy and loves the whole staff. Aksarben is located in a quiet shopping center, and owned by Kathy and her husband. They are always very accommodating and efficient. Typically, it takes about an hour or 2 for a bath and haircut. Bailey and Riley always come home with a great cut and smelling so good. Not to mention they always add bows or bandanas as a finishing touch. If you need an amazing groomer then bring your dog here, they really care about everyone who walks through the door and they do great work! I won't ever take my dogs anywhere else! Took my cat here for a bath for the first time in a LONG time. 3.5 hours later he came out feeling squeaky clean and soft with perfectly trimmed nails and cleannnnn ears! I thought he was gonna be anxious and skittish but he came out much calmer than I thought and the person who helped me was very kind!
