Recently moved to this area and my dog was in need of a haircut. I called around a few places and looked at the reviews and Puppyland had great prices and when I called to inquire, they were able to take my 8 month puppy in right away. A couple hours later and my puppy was done and looked so darn cute and well groomed. The best part is that my dog wasn't shaking and was simply happy after his haircut. I am upset and want people to know that not only bc a business has good reviews on yelp doesn't mean they are skilled groomers. I haven't been able to take my miniature Schnauzer to my old groomers due to quarantine. I found the closest groomers and I'm completely livid. I requested a Schnauzer cut... long hair on the bottom and a shorter beard. I picked up my boy 3hrs later realizing he was completely shaven. My dog took to her and i felt completely safe and that is the reason i didn't go postal. I had to educate her and show her what a Schnauzer cut looks like her excuse my boy had alot of tangles. If u request a specific cut then that should be done for the customer not WHATEVER u decide as a groomer or bc u are being LAZY!! I just wonder how she would feel if all her hair would be shaved off. I am super happy to finally get a beautiful hair cut after months of lockdown. The groomer lady took excellent care of me (her place's immaculately clean). I felt practically pampered and alive. So happy to see her again - she has been taking care of me for 11 years (that's 77 years for you!). I am back to my slim, gorgeous self, without that thick hair that gave me a shaggy, unkempt look. I wish the same can happen to my master. She is homebound everyday now. Good for me though, for she takes me for walks twice a day. She gets nervous when I greet my friends too eagerly - something about keeping social distance that applies to humans. Funny how I can breath fresh air on walks while she has to wear a mask. Speaking of mask, the groomer lady sells nice masks and gave my master a good discount (3 for $10). A better fitting and sturdier mask makes for happier walks. read more

I got my dog 3 days ago from a friend she didn't want him. He looked sad n the best decision was to take him here to Puppyland Grooming . The lady was so nice took good care of my puppy. I'm so happy with the result my dog looks like a totally different dog. He even knows he got a hair cut because he is more active. read more

I'm not one to leave 1 star reviews (this is actually my only 1 star review), but this place is absolutely awful. My mom took my bichon/poodle here several days ago, and now he has FIVE scabs from cuts all around his groin area where they shaved it. Two of them are right on his wiener (which must be a sensitive area), and there are 3 more injuries in the same area. Right when he got back from the shop, I knew something was wrong because he kept rubbing against the hurt spots and licking it. I was terrified that they could be so careless as to cut him in FIVE spots. I mean, seriously? That's unacceptable. I've linked a picture of two of his five injuries. Yeah gross, sorry. read more

My memory isn't that great, but I could swear it wasn't fifty bucks to wash my cat Last time i was here. I caught a glimpse of the customer card as I was paying, and I thought it said $35. :( That's not the real problem, though. On this last visit, my cat bled from his butt for two days. The second day wasn't so bad, but the first day was severe. I had to take him to the vet. SHE CUT HIS BUTTHOLE. I've brought three cats and my mom's dog here, numerous times in the past. I'm so upset. Seems like every time I find a new groomer, they screw up royally after several visits. On top of that, the perfume smell was very strong. It lasted almost a week. I don't remember him smelling like that in the past, or else I would have requested no fragrance. It was very irritating. AND his ears weren't cleaned at all. Fifty bucks for a basic wash, bloody butthole, and dirty ears? No thank you. Sorry puppyland. I won't ever come back. This is after I overlooked the fact that you insisted on charging me medium dog prices on my mom's shih-poo, when she is a small dog. I weighed her at home on my digital scale, yet you insisted this six-pound dog weighed over 15 pounds. And you don't have a scale there. You just "knew." Ugh read more

I love that this place makes dog breed cuts. They carry CBD for pets and that helps my puppy with his anxiety before grooming.

The lady who owns this place is exceedingly nice, although she speaks broken English. Naturally, being a Korean, she speaks Korean... though, being Chinese, I can't quite speak that language. As such, it's difficult to communicate how I want my dog to look, and so she tends to cut his fur incredibly short. That's my complaint: She just loves cutting your dog's fur stupid short. And as people have said before, she often shaves way too close for most dogs' comfort. However, my dog Bear is comfortable with her, she's familiar with my dog, and... Well, Bear never gets fleas here, unlike other places. The price is reasonable. Recommend if: -Your dog isn't very comfortable at other groomers or with people in general. Bear hates people, but he likes the lady here, although it took him a bit of time to get used to her. -You are Korean. -You're not very picky with how your dog looks; the cuts are often very functional. Don't recommend if: -Your dog has sensitive skin. -Your dog is an idiot and tries to jump off the table. -The perfume they spray on afterwards is irritating. read more

Out dogs are poodles and have beautiful coats they just needed a small trim and literally when we pick them up I didn't even recognize my dogs. they shaved them down all the way down and our dogs are tiny dogs they just look ridiculous. I would not recommend this place because they did not listen to what we wanted they just did what they wanted to do. read more

cute- quaint- korean owned salon. they do a great job for what it is - "a dog grooming place". unless, they groom dogs for the westminster dog show, it would be like any other grooming place. i have a maltese, and they groom her to where it brings out her most precious features. the groomers are korean and communication is difficult but my first visit i brought them a picture of what style i wanted and always want so....everytime i drop her off, they know what to do. so if your picky and don't know exactly what you want on your grooming service, maybe you should go somewhere else. most of their clientle are korean based obviously... read more

I used to bring my dog here because she always have openings. we will never bring our fur baby here again. My dog always have eye and ear infections after visit here and the groomer twisted our fur baby's back. The doctor put brace on her back for more than a month. This place should be closed! read more

I'm curious as to why the previous reviewer has singled out this business as Korean owned. I don't believe that has anything to do with the Quality of service they provide. I've been taking my Shi-Poo to Puppyland for three years with fabulous results. She does a wonderful job and my dog struts her stuff every time I pick her up. She knows she looks good and she feels good too! Also, they have fun..fun..fun..clothes and goodies for your animals that you will not find anywhere else! If you love your pets, don't bring them here. I have brought my dogs here for a few years now. Over time, prices have gone up and service has depleted. I like being a regular at local businesses, but they just lost my business. The lady just returned my 2 dogs with bleeding cuts on their body, under their eyes, and the pads of their paws were cut off and the skin is hanging! Besides that, her sign right in front of my face says that my dogs (weighing 12 and 16 lbs) should cost $35 each. She just charged me $90; which is $45 each. In reality she should be paying me for the vet bill I'm about to incur. I don't know where she comes off thinking anybody this is acceptable. She shouldn't get away with doing this to us! I have 2 beautiful girls, gorgeous hair. One of them is a therapy dog, super humble and pretty peacefull. This grommet lady traumatized Osita and hurt her, she made her paw bleed and on top of that Shave her, I told her not to touch her face because I wanted to keep her hair long. I was so upset after seen my dog with a muzzel, I ask her to take it off, because I know my dog she doesn't need one. She did a really bad hair cut she looks really bad, she did such a poor job and also traumatized her and hurt her. She almost cut her neck :( . She has a really bad scratch. If I could I will give her -5 starts. Please don't take your doggies there, please dont. My baby is so sad and depress from the grooming experience yesterday :(. Cut out dogs nails way way to short!! Our dog is already skiddish about her paws. We picked her up and noticed that one nail was cut almost to the paw! PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!! I have been going here for years. I got my dog at a shelter out side of the city. Her long coat was matted up it was hard to say what kind of dog she was. I do know tht she was found inside of a breeding farm. Anyhow her fur was so matted up the man at this dinky, poor run shelter said she just needs. To be shaved. But no one there had even attempted it. This broke my heart and I adopted her right on the spot not knowing her temperment or anything. Myfirst stop was to puppy land. I am pretty sure they hated me when I came in I told them the story and they said they can handle it. 4 hours later this beautiful white shi tzu was waiting for me. This place did an absolutely phenomenal job with my two little malteses! We were disappointed with our previous groomer and were on the search for a new one, and this groomer did not disappoint. She gave both of our babies the most even cut and adhered to all of my requests to the T! She even placed little rose bows in their hair but was so meticulous with the bows even so as to make sure that the rubber bands were not tied directly onto the fur. When I first went inside Puppyland grooming, i was at kind of skeptical at what I saw. On one side of the room, it's very organized and contains many doggie products such as shampoo or flea medicine, while the otherside was full of disorder, but contained doggie clothes and "accessories". The ladies at the counter are very nice, but speak with an accent that is sometimes hard to understand. This place is cheap and I usually end up coming back to trim my dog's nails, get a wash, or get his anal glands cleaned. We took our morkie to Puppyland a few months ago. The grooming was just okay so we switched to another groomer. This second time we took our new 6 months old miniature schnauzer to Puppyland because they were the only groomer nearby that had on opening the same day. (Unfortunately, now we know why.) When we picked up the puppy, we were happy at first with his grooming but when we got him home we noticed that he had been shave too close to the skin underneath so that even part of his private parts were pink and irritated. The inside of his ears were also pink and irritated. I always support the local small businesses but this is one instance when I regret doing so. read more

Jennifer is compassionate and caring. She takes both our dogs in for grooming without an appointment. She calls as soon as they are both finished. She is very reasonably priced: $40 for a bath, cut, nails, teeth, and anal gland. Our dogs are 7lbs each. The shop is adorable! read more

I am giving this a one-star rating because it won't let me leave anything less. I took 2 of my dogs to Puppyland to have their nails trimmed. BIG MISTAKE! One lady took my female dog and the other took the male dog. The lady with the male dog took him to a table and put a sort of leash strap around his neck. He was a little scared and peed on the table. So she left him there and walked to the bathroom to get some paper towels. He started backing up and fell off the table and is now hanging by his neck. I'm screaming at her, OMG - get him, get him! And she just stands there. So, I open the gate that separates the grooming area from the retail area and grab my dog. I don't know why I didn't just take my dogs and leave, but I let her trim his nails. The other lady was stil working on the female dog and then I heard her yelping. She cut her nails way too short and a couple of them were bleeding. Needless to say this was the worst grooming experience my dogs have ever had! My dogs are small chihuahuas and are not aggressive at all, more on the side of being afraid. Now I have to trim their nails at home. If you love your pets, do not take them here for grooming!! You will surely regret it as I do! read more

if only I can give a zero star here ill do it.. trust me to what I'm about to say! this groomer doesn't know how to groom at all! not only she shave my female dog to the point that she looks bald but she also shave my dog's private area. It became swollen and irritated. hair nails were cut too short that it bleeds out. I feel really bad for my dog, she suffers so much.. I was really surprised to see this groomer only has 2 1/2 stars. I've been taking my dog Jake here for a couple of years now and love them. I use to go to Petco in cypress and had a horrible experience. The ladies here are super sweet to my dog and I've never had any issues. He use to get really nervous when I would take him to Petco but his nerves aren't as bad anymore. Anyway just wanted to leave a positive review because I love this place! read more

i still love this groomer! i've taken my dog to many other locations and she is either shaking from anxiety and/or has her fur cut unevenly. i'm surprised that Anne S. had a bad experience but the things that caught my eye were that she is from Hayward and that this is the only review she's posted.
