I'm writing this with a heavy heart about an experience our family has never forgotten. Several years ago, we took our healthy boxer to Bow Wow Groomer for a routine grooming before leaving for vacation. Not long after, we received a call to come pick him up -- and when we arrived, we were told our dog had died. A veterinarian later confirmed the cause of death was suffocation. There is simply no acceptable reason for a dog to suffocate during a basic grooming appointment. What made this even more painful was the lack of accountability afterward. The owner did not follow up with us for almost a, and there was no offer to help with any end-of-life expenses or take responsibility in a meaningful way. Even after all this time, the loss and the way it was handled still weighs heavily on our family. We trusted them with a beloved member of our family, and that trust was completely broken. I strongly urge anyone considering this groomer to ask serious questions about their safety procedures, supervision, and how they handle emergencies before leaving their pet in their care. read more

Brought my four month Goldendoodle for his first haircut today and it was the worst decision I ever made. After reading and trusting a few reviews, I had hope that my puppy would be in good hands but I was extremely wrong. The minute I dropped off my puppy I felt the strangest vibe from the woman there. Her attitude from the start was very strange and careless, but still I gave this location the benefit of the doubt. I showed her an image of what we were wanting and clearly explained what I was wanting for his first haircut. After about 2 hours I received a call that he was ready and went over to pick him up. I got there and she went to bring my puppy from the back and when he walked out I was in complete shock, I did not even recognize him. I was convinced at first that it was not my puppy as I could not believe how far from what I asked for he looked. On top of that my poor baby seemed utterly distraught and an extremely terrified. My happy boy was completely not himself for the first few hours after picking him up. I wish I would have trusted my gut and never left him. Worst $80 ever spent, I would never recommend this place to anyone who actually cares for their animal. I've been to a couple other groomers, but Bow Wow Groomers has been my favorite so far. My dog doesn't like me touching his paws, so his dew claws get kind of long. I dropped by to get his nails cut and they did a great job so I decided to come back for a groom. I requested a bath, brush, ear cleaning, nail trim, anal expression, sanitary trim and dry and he came out great! After a little two hours he came back squeaky clean and smelling good. Stay away from this place! Long story but worth reading for your pet's safety! Brought my dog for the first time yesterday to get a flea bath, teeth cleaning and a haircut. When I picked my dog up, his left eye was shut and it had tears coming out of it. I asked Elena what happened and she was not giving me a straight answer and at first told me that she may have poked his eye while cutting his hair and it should be fine. During the evening we noticed puss was coming out of my dog's eye and he could barely open it. His eyeball was also bloodshot. I left a voicemail at Bow Wow Groomers explaining what was going on and asking for the owner or manager to call me back The next morning I get a call back from Elena and I explained to her that I'm expecting someone to take care of the damage they did to my dog and cover vet costs to fix this issue will be their responsibility. She explained the owner was out of town but she offered to pay me back in cash for any vet bills. I also got a call from Nathan (i believe that's his name) who was also working along with Elena and he explained he was the one who gave my dog a bath and soap/shampoo may have gotten in his eyes but they didn't clean it right away. Not a good reason by any means! Went to the vet and they stated my dog had corneal ulcer due to scratches to his eye from the groomer. Vet costs were $160 for the exam and medications for my dog's eye. Now we have to take care of him for the next 4-6 weeks and is in a dog cone. Elena offered to pay only $80 cash because that's all she had. We did not take the money because we feel that the business owner should know what's going on with their employees and this should be handled correctly. Currently waiting to hear back from the owner to see how they will handle this situation. read more

I've been having my family's dogs and my dogs groomed here for years. I had used other groomers in the past, but once i had my old dog groomed here for the first time i never went anywhere else. Their compassion and skill is unmatched. I moved about an hour and half away, but still bring my dog here when i come to visit my family. Elaina is great, i highly recommend this groomer. The first time I took my beloved Gizmo was when Bow Wow was located on Valley View/La Palma. Since then they have moved a little farther from me =( but this place looks much cleaner and nicer than their previous place. Everyone is always so nice and friendly when I arrive. I used to give Gizmo a bath @ home but since my mom remodeled the bathroom, he's been banned from the tub =P So now I go to Bow Wow and they've always treated me and my little baby like family. My dog hates getting his nails trimmed by my dad or me so we must resort to this place and they seem to never have a problem with him. Yay! Took the little malti-poo in to get his hair did after making a same day appointment. His first time for a full grooming as he's just six months old but he had become matted on his ears and backside. The nice ladies had him for about 3 1/2 hours before they called and said he was ready for pick up. Almost didn't recognize the little guy as they shaved him and clipped his bangs, but he looked happy and comfortable with a little red neckerchief thing. And he didn't appear nicked or cut by the use of the clippers like I've seen happen to some other puppies at other places. The whole shabang including wash, haircut, nails, ear hair removal and anal gland massage or whatever the heck they do totaled $55. They said it's normally $50 but he was $5 more due to my apparent abuse of his 'doo. Clean facility, easy parking and friendly folks. I had to take away one star for not taking plastic but would recommend. He looked good and... tasted great! read more

( Separation anxiety ) He rescued me when I adopted him. Who knows what happened to him during the first 3 months of life to develop anxiety. We had no where to turn, this place provided a solution, a simple solution (my constant reassurance) that led to a lifetime customer, Nathan is so good at his job, my dog even allows Him to trim his nails, they made a special bond. First time taking my two year old pom Waffles to the groomers, as I just adopted him. They gave him a bath and full body trim and he came out looking so handsome! He smells so good too. When we first took him here, the groomer took the time to get him more comfortable with her before taking him to the back. Clean place, reasonably priced. It ended up being $50 for Waffles. I was really excited to find this place. I took my four dogs here to get groomed. When I took them in their hair was long and matted, but they did not have fleas. After I picked them up I was really happy with the way they looked because their haircut was very nice, but they picked up fleas while they were there and I have since been battling a flea problem. I had to spend $100 today to get them flea pills. For this reason alone I will not be taking them back again. I am severely allergic to fleas, and all of my dogs are indoor dogs. I hope this problem gets taken care of at the store so that nobody else has to worry about battling a major flea problem. read more

I took my Maltese for two baths/trims, largely based on these reviews. After having problems both times, I won't be going back. The first time he came back with a small cut by one of his eyes. They said that they were cleaning his eyes, and that the cut was already there. (I clean his eyes every day; he had no cut). He got a good trim for a fair price, so I thought it was a one-time issue. The second time, he came back wtih a cut on the top of his head, and a nosebleed. I was told the cut on his head was because a scab came off during bathing (he had no such scab), and that his nosebleed was due to his getting over-excited when they were blow-drying him. They put him in one of the cages and blew dry him through the bars because he was scared, and I guess wouldn't hold still on the table. When I picked him up, he was still petrified. I made it clear to the person cashing me out that I thought it was mean to treat my dog that way, and that they should have called if he was that scared. What prompted the review was hearing from a couple of neighors who had similar experiences (cuts). It's a shame as they seemed nice and the price was fair, but it was a bad experience for my dog. read more

Great experience at Bow Wow Groomers... Took my 5 month old little guy in for his first groom and I knew right when I walked in that I chose the right place. I can be very particular about groomers, but after seeing the other dogs being groomed, the quality of the cut was nothing of concern to me anymore. I expressed concern about the length possibly being too short, but they did a fabulous job keeping my puppy's length but also giving him a nice fluffy clean cut with a sweet fall bandana to wear around. This is the new grooming place for my baby. I'm embarrassed to admit how many groomers I've had to go through, in order to find someone who CONSISTENTLY didn't hurt my Doberman. His nails are too long and I admit that's my fault. So in our effort to shorten his quicks, we try to take him in every 2 weeks. But with every other grooming place, they would end up cutting the quick and my poor baby would cry and bleed. Too often, he would still be bleeding when we got home. It broke my heart. Thank God we found Bow Wow Groomers! Here, the nice lady (who's name escapes me) treats him very sweetly. She was the one who decided that it would be more effective to shorten his quicks by grinding his nails, instead of clipping to avoid hurting him. And that way, we can still get his quicks to recede.
