Looking for a good spot for happy hour..? This place has variety of choices to choose from. It starts at 3pm-7pm and then reverses from 9pm. Service was fast and efficient, food came out at a timely mannered. Great pricing for tasty dishes. You can count me in!

Aka sushi is located on W.Alabama in a strip center right after you cross Shepard drive on the right.. And it is so affordable and good considering its prime location! Me and my best friend stopped by on this Saturday night and sat at the sushi bar and needed no reservations, and this was around 7:15! Sushi was fresh, hot saki was on point , and our waitress Julie was very attentive, in a good way! If you want affordable, budget friendly GOOD sushi , this place has it!!

Found this place randomly. Service was very good but the food not so. It wasn't bad but i sure had better sushi in Houston area than this.

This sushi house has a great atmosphere. The interior is well decorated, the layout makes sense, and it's an overall good time The menu is solid. They have a variety of sushi dishes as well as other Asian dishes to choose from. Their cocktail menu has plenty of delicious cocktails to choose from as well The staff was friendly and the meal and drinks came out in a timely manner Some tips: The parking situation is somewhat limited. They share a narrow parking lot with other businesses, so, it can fill up quickly. Also, it's a popular spot, so, you may have to wait a bit. Consider sitting at the bar, and you'll still have a waiter and excellent service. Lastly, if you are looking for a place that is open past 10 on a Sunday, look no further. They close at 10:30pm Cheers!!

Hey I came here with my son . I had a medical emergency and had to leave . The food seemed good but not all that fresh as I expected. I got the California roll and a shrimp tempura hand roll . It was cool but I couldn't bite it lol . It was super tough . Service was good. Ambiance is nice as well .

the ambiance is my favorite part of this restaurant. the decor inside is great and i loved seeing the egl lolita on the wall! japanese street fashion for sure. the service was fine, the waiter was friendly and attentive. i was disappointed with the rolls i had, they left me feeling empty and not flavored. the takoyaki had way to much sauce on it and it tasted bland. overall i was disappointed as i've been meaning to go to this place for awhile. it left me thinking of other places i've been to that i could've went to instead.

Overall had a bad time!! Service was good but the food was bad and there was a bad restroom smell in the entire restaurant. Used to be a great place so this was a huge bummer. I went in on Sunday at 12 to catch their happy hour and was surprised to find the place nearly empty - it used to be so crowded on happy hour days!! The nigiri and sashimi quality was atrocious and the salmon had a very fishy flavor. Could not eat. Spicy salmon roll was insanely fishy. Could not eat. Pork belly skewers were completely flavorless. Eel roll was good but that's simply because the avocado was perfectly ripe. Spicy basil wings were fine...I prefer wings too to these. The tempura was good! But that's the only good park. Overall - never going back!

I LOVE THIS PLACE. the sushi is so fresh. My favorite roll is the Louisiana Roll. I also love the house salad with the creamy ginger dressing. Drinks are great also! Service is great and the ambiance is perfect. I like sitting in the darker lit booths. Found this place on Christmas, it was the only place opened in my area.

Came for their happy hour which had good small bites but didn't feel like the sushi rolls were anything special Stuffed mushrooms -5/5 would definitely get this again, creamy with bits of tempura on top Calamari - 3/5, no real flavor, the tempura was falling off the calamari Salmon roll: 4/5 good quality of salmon Spicy tuna: 3.5/5 California roll: 3.5/5 Overall nothing really stood out to me and their happy hour deal doesn't include the sushi rolls. I felt that service was a little pushy, asking repeatedly to take our plates and it took a while before anything came out. The inside was decently decorated.

Aka is one of the few restaurants with a weekend happy hour which is what drew me to dine here. No wait to be seated either. The quality of the fish was decent, and we left satisfied. The servings are on the smaller side for the value. however. It was not too expensive for a weekend dinner, but there are high end sushi restaurants with better portions and pricing during regular weekday happy hours.

This place has happy hour most of the time which how I'm rating this review, so it's a fun spot to grab a few small bites. I did get some sushi but I liked the apps better. The service is super quick however I was there to chill at the sushi bar and journal. Both the sunomono and the squid salad were fresh and pretty to look at!

All of their nigiri and hand rolls can be ordered a la carte or if you're feeling a bit in decisive, they have several hand roll sets that come with 3-5 preselected options. On nigiri night, announced a few days in advance on their socials, almost all of their nigiri is $5. Chutoro, otoro, hamachi, all melt in your mouth quality, all included in the special. The salmon tasted a little too fishy, and the hamachi hand roll fell short since I could barely taste the hamachi. However, the kanpachi was the standout of the night! All had really great flavors but my personal favorite was the tantan noodles which came with poached egg, sauce, and garnishes that you got to mix into the noodles. Super creamy and nutty! I really loved the vibe of the restaurant too, it's small but has a homey vibe that would be great for either a small group hangout or a date. There's a lot of bars to visit nearby too. One waitress served everyone in the restaurant while I was there. She was speedy in taking and delivering orders. She seemed very nice! Food: ordered Tonkotsu Gachi and my mom ordered the yuzu. Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. It was a nice touch of color and brought in that bright, juicy onion flavor that I crave. Noodles were perfect texture. Not too hard or mushy. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl... The Yuzu shio broth was clearer, with bright, citrusy, and savory body. The bamboo shoots were golden (grilled?) with a little snap to it. Reminds me of a king oyster mushroom. This is really a unique broth and I haven't had anything like it. You should definitely try it! Restaurant: clean, neat, every table literally has its place /orientation. Deep wood furniture, honeyed lighting, and dark window shades give the restaurant a cozy chic ambience despite visiting around noon. Good food, great service. Great prices. Large portions.

Staff were super friendly and my partner and I had a fun time soaking up the environment and chatting with our server. Handroll wise my favorite of the set was the kani followed by the negitoro. I think overall, the handrolls were very well done with fresh fish/seafood. For crudo we got the scallop and the hamachi, I really enjoyed the scallop crudo but thought the hamachi was really overpowered by the sauce. We also ended up getting the hokkaido uni handroll. Since it was our first time dining this way, the staff was attentive and took the time to explain everything. We also had the chance to chat with the owner, which made the experience even more memorable. The food has always been outstanding. The hand roll sets are absolutely worth it, and my favorite dish is actually the crudo. Unfortunately, the service has declined with each visit. During our second visit, we assumed the lack of attention was because the restaurant was packed and likely understaffed. However, our third visit made it clear that wasn't the issue. Throughout the meal, we were consistently overlooked. We were never offered water refills, had to repeatedly flag down staff just to order, and even had to ask the chefs to get a server's attention. Meanwhile, the tables on either side of us were regularly checked on and served promptly. We watched guests who were seated both before and after us receive much more attentive service. Eventually, we left earlier than planned because we were tired of waiting just to order more food. It's disappointing because the food is genuinely excellent, but after multiple visits with declining service, it's hard to justify coming back.
