I have driven past this place for years n finally tried it tonight thankfully. I ordered the Crawfish n Sausage Fried Rice requested with light oil. Very fresh, real delicious, juicy in each bite, not too salty and full of thin sausage slices, tiny crawfish tails and plenty of green onions. I also appreciated how the crawfish tails were all curled, which is one sign signifying they're safe to eat. I hate wasabi, but man I love that fresh, cold, crispy ginger all by itself and with meals. I plan to try the Chicken Katsu next time soon and the Grilled Eel eventually in the future. I've driven past this sushi spot without ever really noticing it until recently I honestly really enjoyed the decor and the use of space. The ambiance was perfect for a date night or a night out. It was a little loud in terms of overhearing noise from the collective other tables and parties, but it still made Dora enjoyable setting and dining experience. There is a bar area, a main dining area, and an upstairs. I wasn't able to get much of a glimpse into the 2nd floor The menu offers a variety of Japanese dishes, but you should definitely go with a couple sushi options Our server was very sweet and professional. Our order came out in a timely manner, and we were well taken care of Some tips: I was a big fan of the gyoza (dumplings), but was slightly let down by the azuma rolls. It was take-out so I cannot speak for the atmosphere of the restaurant/what it was like indoors. Ordered the Premium Chirashi Bowl and the Whole Squid. Everything was packed perfectly and also had rubber bands on the packaging to keep it intact. The squid comes with two sauces; I liked the spicy one the most. The sashimi for the chirashi was placed in a separate tray than the rest of other ingredients along with the rice. A generous amount of soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi as well as disposable utensils (chopsticks) were provided. Overall very professional and efficient. The sashimi was fresh and tasted delicious. I wouldn't suggest getting the squid for take-out if you live far out, as it may cool down before delivery and get a bit rubbery. My cousin and I are always on the hunt for good/affordable sushi and we were in the museum district searching up places nearby for lunch. We see Azuma and decided to give it a try. It was both our first time here. My cousin got a skewer combo and I got a sushi combo. Both were filling! My favorite piece of fish from the combo was the red snapper, very very soft and melted in your mouth. Family friendly Houston staple. I've been here plenty of times throughout the years. This location is at the bottom of my list of all Azuma group restaurants. Their food is above average, fish is always fresh, the cooked food is flavorful served in generous portions. I especially love their Crazy Irishman Roll. So my gripe with them is the one time when I ordered to go and paid in cash at pick up. My change was a few dollars short and when I asked the hostess about it, she CONDESCENDINGLY claimed that it was the restaurant's policy to ALWAYS ROUND UP for cash transactions, then just continued to work on other things as if that was a reasonable answer. It's just a few bucks but it's the principle for me. So use a credit card if you plan to eat here! read more

I've been searching for a delivery sushi spot and I think I finally found it! Their menu was great and I settled for the Hama Chili Roll, Azuma Roll, and a miso shiru. I ordered during lunchtime so I was expecting it to take some time but between deciding what to order and it being dropped at my door, it took less than 1 hour! Talk about a quick catch ;-) Their to-go packaging was small and cute and maybe I got lucky with my delivery but this was the best looking delivery of sushi I've ever received! Always a good experience. We tend to eat earlier than many so we have had no issues either getting a table. The staff is attentive and prompt, friendly and helpful. Sushi is fresh and yummy. That's why we go!! The Kanpachi Jalapeño appetizer is a favorite we order every time. Hopefully that won't be replaced because it's that good. read more

For dessert, I absolutely love their version of fried banana with green tea ice green which is made fresh in house. Trust me their sushi is so fresh and delicious. Came here a few times with friends and family and I just love how fresh their sashimi are. I'm pretty picky about my sushi and this is one of my go to places. They offer a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi and entrees....a little something for everyone. My boyfriend is not a fan of eating raw food and he's able to find something on the menu that he likes. It's a win-win! When I come here with my family we usually just tell our waiter to ask the sushi chef to just whip us up the freshest sashimi and put it on a platter for us...try this and you will NOT be disappointed. Not only the presentation was gorgeous and appetizing, but just as good as it taste. The sashimi literally melts in your mouth! Side note, you can ask the server to bring you fresh wasabi....fresh wasabi is actually not a green color and it doesn't come in a paste. Wasabi is a root and you grind them into a powder and it comes as a beige, white color. The place is usually live and festive, especially on a weekend so make sure you call ahead and reserve a table. Azuma is a pretty good place to get decent sushi for a decent price. I went with a large group of people and the staff were very accommodating despite people coming and going a different times. The menu is also pretty extensive so most people can find something to their liking. I did notice that there weren't many vegetarian options so please keep that in mind. I definitely recommend coming for their lunch menu as you get a better deal. I ordered the Salmon and Ikura Don with Udon from their lunch menu and was very full after eating. I think the ratio of salmon and roe to rice was a little off and I actually would have preferred if they gave less rice. Everything was pretty fresh and the udon was cooked well. A plate of calamari was ordered for the table and everyone enjoyed eating it. It was perfectly fried and had the right amount of chew to it. read more

This sushi restaurant is located in a strip mall on the edge of West U. I have passed by many times and decided to give it a try. My husband and I had 7 pm reservations and were immediately seated. We decided to it at the bar versus the table because there were a lot of children in main dining area. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The sushi was fresh and prepared nicely. We ordered the Kobe beef skewers and they were good. Azuma is own by the same company that owns Kata Robata. The Kobe beef skewers at Kata Robata are superior. This restaurant is a nice if you want a sushi fix. It is not as good as Kata Robata,, but the service was better and more friendly. This is a good restaurant for families. First time tried Omakase by Chef Diego for my birthday and it was astonishing! Previously went for sushi rolls and loved it (despite the restaurant being far from my house), but after trying the chef chosen variety of appetizers, sushi and sashimi will be back more often. The dishes we tried were so distinct - fusion of Japanese cuisine with modern touches. Plates were decorated as art creations; taste surprised and satisfied the palate, the textures were marvelously fused. Perfectly combined flavors and highest grade seafood were perfect for celebrating my special occasion, want to return for more. The place may not appear luxury or chic but food definitely is the top quality. It has been open for many years and still provides excellent quality and service (as sushi connoisseur I noticed the trend for quality to do down for many high end sushi restaurants). It was my 1st time here and I'll definitely will be back! We came on Saturday evening - the restaurant was full but we still managed to get a table straight away. The hostess was friendly and polite. We got greeted by our server a minute later. Service was just great in general from hostess to server to food runners. Food was good too! We got seaweed salads, seafood ceviche, grilled octopus, Azuma mixed sushi, and a couple of drinks. Octopus was a bit chewy so we'll pass on it next time but everything else was good. I found this restaurant on door dash while I was at work...and what a treasure I found! I can't speak on anything but the food but let me just say it was so good. I ordered the crawfish fried rice that also had sausage! The rice was very flavorful and seasoned with crawfish boil seasoning so it did have a small kick at the end. Lastly, I ordered what seems to be their infamous Crazy Irishman roll. This roll is fried and filled with Salmon, tuna, avocado wrapped in green soybean paper flash fried topped with, masago, eel sauce, spicy mayo, green onion (lol got the description from the menu)! We came here for lunch one day when we were craving a Japanese place close to our apartment. Getting into this place was a little difficult, because parking was limited. You had to pray that someone was leaving the plaza so you can quickly slide into their parking spot. Once we got in, the ambiance was nice, and we got served quickly. The waitress we had was very nice and attentive, but not overbearing. She was quick to help us out, and refill our waters appropriately. We both ordered the Donbri bento box, one with katsu chicken and one with katsu pork. Overall, the food was okay. I did like the fried sweet potato and eggplant, but how can you mess up fried food? Both of the pork and chicken were a little dry, but not inedible. The flavor was decent, if they cooked it just slightly less, it would have made it much better. The sushi was as you would expect based on the reviews: eh. It was about 5.5/10, but again, it was a decent mid-day meal. It was a slow weekday for both of us, so we weren't expecting a super fancy meal or anything. Overall, it was a decent experience. Our server was attentive and friendly. He did a great job making sure we were well taken care of. For my appetizer, I ordered edamame. It did not taste any differently from other restaurants that I had ordered it from before. For my main entree, I ordered the Shrimp Tempura and the Sunshine Roll. On the menu, it says that Shrimp Tempura was a starter but it was a very large plate. It is definitely shareable for the table. The Sunshine Roll was okay. It came with pink soy paper and it had an average taste to it. I told the waiter to hold the asparagus in it. I probably would not order it again. What is pretty cool though is that they make their own soy sauce in house and it tastes pretty good! I think this place is okay to my liking. I really just enjoyed the shrimp tempura. Honestly I'd say 3.5 star but given covid I think benefit of the doubt is deserved. Overall the food was decent but overpriced. We got the seafood nabeyaki udon which had more seafood than expected (yay!) but was more bland than we would have liked (enter chili flakes lol). We also got the chicken katsu bento box. Now the price on this has been increased to $14.95 instead of the $10.50 from before (although I'll be honest not sure how long that's been the case, was disappointing nevertheless). The chicken was nice and crispy but kind of dry and I'd say you can get much better chicken katsu elsewhere for the same price. The side dishes that come with the bento were tasty. So I have not physically been in the building but my heart for sure has been in the culinary team hands. I had a taste for sushi and this Japanese restaurant was available on Uber eats. When I tell you the food was delicious... I order the same items two times in a row just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. The food was outstanding, I had the spider rolls and combination fried rice and it was definitely worth all of the Uber fees.
