I ordered for pickup on a rainy cold night and I was almost regretting my decision as I drove in the pouring rain and hail. However, I am so glad I still went because the Ramen was delicious!! Moody warm lighting and great atmosphere to bring a group of friends! I usually get the big table on the right side of the restaurant because it has a nice background for photos. I ordered the burnt garlic ramen which was super savory and had bamboo, chashu, mushroom, and egg for toppings. Absolutely loved pickled bamboo so this dish was right up my alley. My friend got their curry which was pretty spicy for me personally but really flavorful and good with rice!! For apps we shared some okonomiyaki which tasted a lot like takoyaki but bigger, some chicken with creamy tartar sauce and spicy cucumber salad which was really refreshing and paired well with the chicken. For dessert we got the lava toast which is a salted egg yolk french toast filled with custard. The first time I ordered this I absolutely loved it and was super warm and melty, but the second time around it was made ahead of time and so it wasn't as fresh. On a cold night, we were looking for something warm for dinner. Ramen Moto came up on the top of the list. Upon entering, you see a wall lined with different type of sake. Table, wall paneling and chair were all wood. Reminds me of our time in Tokyo. It was pretty busy for a Thursday night and opted for bar seating. Plenty of choices from hot and cold appetizers, grilled and ramen. We start with Takoyaki and it was delicious. The best one I've had in Houston so far! Very tasty and the right ratio of octopus and batter. Comparable to the one we had in Tokyo. No joke. Next I ordered the Spicy Black. The bowl is a little smaller than others ramen places but the quality ingredients stood outs. The slices of chashu were thick with a bit of fat. It was super tender and breaks apart easily. Each piece has a little fat that make it even tastier. It also came with bamboo shoots, green onions and egg. The egg served whole so the soft yolk doesn't spill out until you ar ready to bite on it. Super solid ramen spot! I came on a Saturday night for dinner and because I went with a large group we did have to wait over an hour for a table so I recommend making a reservation a head of time if you have a party of 5 or more. Though the wait was long, the food definitely made up for it. I got the spicy garlic and I got to try the demon ramen, the spicy tsukemen ramen, and the tonkotsu. The spicy garlic was awesome. The broth was rich and super flavorful. Very savory and umami and a good amount of spice. I liked how there was a generous amount of charsu and the cuts were thick and tender. The egg was perfectly soft boiled and the green onions on top add a great hint of freshness. I am also personally a fan of the thin noodles they use for ramen and would come back for this bowl any day. (8.5/10) The demon ramen was labeled as "extremely spicy" and I can confirm that it is hot. If you enjoy Szechuan cuisine this is the same kind of oil and flavor profile that is added to the broth. The spiciness increases as you continue to drink the broth so I would cation those that do not have a high spice tolerance. However, if you are a spice lover and enjoy mala I would highly recommend this bowl. (8/10) The spicy tsukemen was also very spicy as labeled on the menu. Also, because this is a dipping ramen the broth is much more concentrated and so is the spice. The flavor was great and this one came with thicker ramen noodles. Be prepared to sweat if you are ordering this one. (7.5/10) The tonkotsu was super rich. I loved the creamy and savory broth. The other elements of the ramen were consistently great across every bowl. I'd recommend this to someone trying ramen for the first time. (8/10) Overall, the interior is very well decorated with an industrial vibe. The service was quick and friendly. They were also very helpful with the menu. Parking can be a bit challenging because the shopping center has a smaller parking lot but there is street parking near by. After the Hyrox competition, my friends and I were looking for some late night delicious food and stumbled upon Ramen Moto. The staff was really accommodating since we were a party of 5, and we were able to fit into their 4-seat booth. Our waitress took the time to explain the dishes to everyone and our food came out quickly. Added buttered corn (which tasted like regular watery corn on its own) and fresh garlic. The broth itself was wonderful and flavourful, and just what I needed. Then I mixed in my spice bomb- which I probably could have done an extra of that. I need the heat! The chashu cuts were some of the more substantial ones I've had at a ramen place (or it's just been a really long time and my memory is failing me). My boyfriend and I spotted this place on Instagram and knew we had to check it out. It's been getting a lot of hype online, which usually makes me a little skeptical but this spot lives up to it. From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but inside, it's surprisingly spacious with really nice decor! The menu is pretty extensive, offering a variety of cold dishes, sashimi, kushiyaki, rice, noodles, and of course, ramen. We wanted to sample a few things, so we started with the salmon yukke. It's a simple yet flavorful dish topped with a quail egg yolk. It was super fresh and such a perfect way to start the meal off. I'd also heard good things about their kushiyaki, so we tried the Negi Thigh (chicken). Honestly, it wasn't anything mind blowing, but it was super tasty and made for a great little appetizer since the portion is pretty small. For our main course, we both ordered the Spicy Tori Paitan. Our waiter warned us that it was really spicy, but we like heat, so we didn't think twice. Well... there's a reason he emphasized it....it was no joke! By the end, my nose was running and my eyes were watering, but it was absolutely delicious. I even ordered a side of kimchi to help cool things down between bites. Maybe I overestimated my spice tolerance, but no regrets! Service was fast, and our waiter was super knowledgeable, which helped us navigate the menu as first timers. My husband and I came here for dinner as we were taking a walk back to our apartment and it was chilly outside. I've seen this place but never been in so this was a good opportunity for us to get warmed up with some ramen! When we came in, it was very busy, all booths were taken and some were sitting at the long bar, not sure if they were waiting for a table or to-go orders but there was no one standing at the front to greet any guests as they were coming in. Servers were walking around but ignoring guests who were standing up front. We ended up sitting at the bar because someone finally came up and let us know that there were no tables available for at least 45 minutes. A bartender came up and said he'd be back as he was carrying a bucket of ice and dumped it in the tray and then left again. We were given menus and didn't get to order for 15 minutes until a different bartender came up to check on us. We let him know that we wanted to order some apps and then ramen. We got some gyoza, 1 ribeye skewer, 1 chicken heart skewer, a salmon chili, beef tongue and spicy tori pitan to share. Everything came out except for the beef tongue and we asked the bartender to check on the beef tongue. By the time we finished our food, the bartender still hadn't given us an update on the beef tongue and so we asked him again and he said he'd check. He came back and said that the grill was backed up on orders but it should be done soon. We waited about 10 more minutes before deciding that we didn't want to wait any longer for the beef tongue and asked them to cancel the order and take it off our bill so we could pay and leave. I definitely would consider coming back because the ramen was very good, especially with the yuzu pieces, It's very unique. I would recommend trying other things there and it's the same owners as Toukei in Chinatown! Check this place out if you are looking for an all around flavorful experience. The drinks, appetizers and ramen were all a 10/10. Located in a strip center, the parking was very limited but don't let that stop you from checking this spot out. There was a short wait but there is bar seating available. I ordered the Brussels Spouts & Salt Wings to start. The Brussels Spouts had a nice Thai Chili kick to it that added to the crispness of the Brussel Spouts. The salt wings took a little longer and while they were tasty, I was disappointed that for 6.50$, I only received two flats. A little too pricey but tasty nevertheless. I also tried the lychee margarita and it was quite refreshing and cool as the ramen had my mouth on fire! I ordered the TanTan Men with a spicy bomb & a side of pork. Ramen Moto is a great addition to the Montrose area, especially for a place that opens late. I was surprised to see a ramen spot stay open until 1am. I had very low expectations, however I was proven wrong. When you first walk in, the place is decorated so beautifully. It's small, yet looks so big. The bar does take up a lot of the restaurant space. Takoyaki I've had better takoyaki in my humble opinion. I just wish this one was a bit more crispier on the outside and less mushy. Chili Dumpling My fiancée loves a good dumpling app and this was quite flavorful. Since its in sitting in a bowl of sauce, don't expect it to be too cripsy on the edges. It does had the flavor though. We love to get it. Katsu Curry and Rice If you're not feeling ramen, a good warm katsu curry just hits the spot. Crisy, crunchy, and delicious. Soft fluffy rice just goes well with the curry and it just warms your soul. Korokke (potato croquette) - I didn't know what to expect, but I'd order it again. It was light, airy, crispy, and fluffy. Give me a plate full. Tan Tan Every Tan Tan is different, except this tan tan was just spicy and lacked umami flavor. It just hit the back of your throat first thing. You couldn't even taste the flavor. My fiancée was a little disappointed, and he loves a good Tan Tan bowl. Black Garlic Man...I just kept drinking the black garlic broth more than I was eating it. The ratio of broth to noodles started to show. That's just how DELICIOUS it was. It was packed with so much flavor. I could imagine the oomph from the Spicy Garlic. We first ordered the kawa senbei and it is enough for 2 people to share as an appetizer. These chicken skins were not too thick or thin and had the perfect amount of crunch. The lime and sauce provided added a soy and citrus kick to the dish and i loved it. The Brussel sprouts were roasted and slightly crispy. It was tossed in some kind of sweet and sour sauce that tasted excellent. The spicy burnt garlic ramen is a good choice for intermediate ramen indulgers. The burnt garlic gave the broth a roasted taste and the sweetness of the bamboo blended well with it. The interior was so nice and cozy, we were very surprised. The ambience is perfect for date nights or hanging out with a small group of friends. The service the past 2 times has not necessarily the best, you have to flag down the servers versus being checked on. The food is good, the ramen is one of the better ramen's I've had in Houston. Really enjoyed my experience at Ramen Moto! Really nice ambiance, great food, and friendly staff. We came in on a Saturday night around 8:30pm. It was pretty crowded, and it is a small restaurant, so we were told the wait would be 30 minutes. The wait ended up being almost exactly 30 minutes. Once seated, it took a little while for someone to come take our order, but once they did, the food came out very quickly. I ordered the Burnt Garlic Ramen. It was so so delicious! It had a rich garlic taste, and the toppings complemented the broth very well. Definitely one of the more unique ramen bowls I've had in Houston. Ambiance inside is warm and welcoming. Staff was courteous and prompt. Parking is tight but not awful if you come early. Was bumping at 5pm Friday night. Keema Paratha | $7.50 - pretty much roti and the sauce is very spicy. Not bad Ribeye with wasabi | $11.50 - salty. Flavor was good. But some bites were too chewy and dry. Others were juicy. Weird range of bites. Miso Hamachi | $15 - deeply disappointing. Deconstructed bits thrown together with little thought to harmony in this dish. Toppings on top of hamachi were hard and stale. Spicy Miso Ramen | $13.75 Agreed upon by the whole family that the ramen was okay but didn't stand out. Egg didn't have the depth of flavor expected in a ramen egg. Tasted more like a normal egg. And actually undercooked TOO much. A perfect ramen egg has a bit of "jaminess" to it. This tasted closer to the doneness of an onsen egg. Pork was fatty but didn't have a whole lot of deep Chashu flavor either. Overall, I suspect they're getting their feet under them. Went back to Ramen Moto in upper Kirby to try some different dishes. I came when they just opened for the day so it was practically empty inside. They are open until after midnight so they're perfect for a late night dinner as well. This place is an Izakaya so they have a huge menu featuring hot and cold plates, skewers, ramen, and some rice and noodle dishes. I did not have a good experience with their ramen the last time I came here so I pretty much avoided that. They have very nice ambient lighting in here and decorations that makes# you feel like you're in a restaurant in Japan. This time I ordered the katsu curry rice, chashu rice, chicken heart skewers, and lava toast. The katsu curry rice had a pork cutlet, onsen tamago, radish pickle, scallion, with a curry over steamed rice. The pork cutlet was crispy and the rice soaked up the curry sauce pretty well. The curry was rich, heavy, and savory. I felt like the egg didn't add much to this dish but overall it was very solid. The chashu rice had soy glazed chashu, onsen tamago, spicy mentaiko, mayo, seaweed, pickle, and scallion. I thought the chashu itself was average but ohhhh myyy that rice was heavenly. The egg made such a big difference in this dish, the rice was so creamy and the mentaiko added some savoriness to it. I would order a dish like this with just rice alone. This is a must get. The chicken heart skewers had soy tare and sesame. They were decent but probably my least favorite of the 3. I am not a big fan of organ meat anyways. The lava toast capped off the dinner and it didn't disappoint at all. It's a Hong Kong style French toast with salted egg yolk cream inside and butter and condensed milk on top. The salted egg yolk cream wasn't as liquidy as I thought it was going to be but it was very good. The bread was thick and the salted egg yolk was sweet and savory. I was so excited to try this spot because I've been wanting yakitori and they had pretty good reviews. This is in one of the corners of the many strip malls in Houston, luckily has a parking lot out front so that wasn't an issue. There are two doors but the entrance is the one tucked away closer to the corner not the easily visible one. Anyways this is a casual ramen, Japanese restaurant with a couple additional items. Service was fine, nothing much to say there. Where I got disappointed was the food. I ordered a few yakitori skewers (chicken heart, gizzard, and skin) along with the demon ramen. First, I will say the demon ramen broth was great as well as the noodles. The description did say thick noodles but they seemed like regular ramen noodles to me. The broth was rich, mildy spicy, and warm, perfect for the somewhat cold front we had. Noodles, bouncy and chewy. The pork chasiu I had was a bit dry and the egg was not seasoned, which was a bit of a downer. The real sore spot for me was the yakitori, the chicken hearts were extremely overcooked and oddly gamey. The gizzards were tasteless and the chicken skin was also pretty bland. It should have been named Izakaya Moto! My friends and I stopped by Moto yesterday for a quick dinner before our movie at Edwards Greenway. Conveniently located on West Alabama just off Kirby, we didn't have any issue finding parking or a table on a Saturday evening. We started off with a refreshing and sweet lychee margarita while we perused the menu, which is more expansive here than at most other ramen-focused restaurants. In addition to multiple ramen options (chicken vs. pork vs. vegan base, spicy vs. non-spicy) there's a good selection of izakaya-style small plates and grilled skewers, as well as rice bowls for the noodle-shy. I ordered the crispy, saucy tori nanban for the table - it's like karaage served with a tartar sauce and it really whets your appetite! Our mains followed in short order - I chose the namesake tsukemen, which was rich in depth and strongly fish-forward. The thick noodles were perfectly cooked, though I wish the broth were served a bit warmer to compensate for the inevitable cooling effect of noodle-dipping. The egg was jammy in texture but unseasoned - here I would have preferred a marinated ajitama for maximum enjoyment. We all dipped our spoons into each others' soups to taste all the broths - I particularly enjoyed the punchy heat of the spicy tori paitan as well as the background savoriness of the vegan spicy garlic. I would have asked to see if they would provide wari soup to dilute my remaining tsukemen broth, but it came time for us to leave for our movie. While I think I still prefer Tatsuya's tsukemen by a smidge, the expanded menu options and charming environs make Moto a strong choice for a group dinner or date night. Everything is fantastic here, from the ramen to the apps, to the curry and rice combos. Our group always gets the keema porotta, the Thai chilli sashimi and black garlic ramen. I also like the keema curry and rice. Great service, and cute layout. read more

Great place for kushiyaki (grilled skewers) and ramen. Expansive menu with ramen, rice dishes, and many smaller appetizers to share. They also have a variety of options for the more adventurous like ankimo (monkfish liver), ox tongue, chicken hearts, and chicken gizzards. Their ramen is pretty good, but a small portion of their menu. If you go with a group it might be a good idea to split a ramen then get a few small dishes. A friend picked this place for dinner last week, and I reluctantly agreed. I love the concept of Ramen, but usually can't get into it since it's usually a pork based broth and I abstain from pork. I was pleasantly surprised that this place had not one, but three broths that I could partake in! Two were chicken broths, one creamy, and one spicy. And they had a vegan broth as well! I ordered the Spicy Tori Paitan which is a spicy rich chicken broth, and I asked for no mushrooms and extra buttered corn. They accommodated that request which again was such a nice surprise, most places won't remove mushrooms as the broth has been cooked with it already in there. My friend ordered the vegan option. Our food came out relatively quick, and our server was attentive and helpful. We loved our ramen, and were both surprised by the level of spice used. Usually we find the spice level lacking and always have to request chili oil or sriracha to help, but not here! It was the first time that I ever finished my bowl of ramen, usually it's a subpar experience and I'm picking at my food. Here, I was so sad when it finished, lol. We were dying from the spice however and we ordered dessert to help us out- we ordered the lava toast. Basically a thick piece of artisanal toast with condensed milk. It was good and not overly sweet, I could see this being a dessert my mom would love as it's just the right amount of sweetness. I found myself thinking about this place so much, I went back two days later with the husband. He loved it as well, but found the broth not spicy enough- so our server recommended a spicy bomb sauce. I remember seeing Ramen Moto in Post Houston and not trying it out because I didn't see an obvious vegetarian option on the menu board. When I heard that they opened up a new location in (or moved to) a strip center on West Alabama, I took a look at their menu and found that they had one, the Spicy Garlic so I went to check it out. What I noticed first was the late closing hour at 1am every day except for Mondays when it closed. I had been to the previous restaurant which was at this location and Ramen Moto had a complete redesign of the layout. There were a bunch of canopied booths which was a unique look. As for the food itself, the fish on top of the Moto Tuna was room temperature and did not have much of a taste until you mixed it into the mayo and edamame bottom. The spicy garlic ramen was good, but you definitely tasted the spice over the black garlic oil. A note that the water tasted bad which is consistent with the Houston tap water news. I was hoping that the restaurant had a filter but they didn't. read more

I'm gonna be coming here a lot lol. I'm so glad a japanese ramen/izakaya place opened up closer to me. My husband and I came on Sunday night after 8 pm and there was a decent crowd. We got a bunch of yakitori including hearts, gizzards, chicken thigh and also an eel bowl. Everything was delicious. The hearts and gizzard are cooked so well. There;s also an extensive drink menu which my husband appreciated. read more
