    Salad and Miso Soup

I would never expected to find such and enjoyable Japanese dinner in Jackson, MI. AKA Sushi has become my "go-to" whenever I'm in town on business. I'm not the biggest sushi eater so sometimes want a Japanese entree and some miso soup. This was the case on this particular visit. The sushi bar looked great but I really wanted soup, rice and protein. If you eat beef, I highly recommend the Beef Wrapped Asparagus appetizer. A serving of this and rice could be a meal itself. My main was Chicken Teriyaki. It arrive well seasoned and most. So often teriyaki chicken breast are dry and basted in thick sauce to give flavor AKA's sauce and as light and could have been omitted given how succulent the chicken breast was. The space is small but perfect for meeting up with friends or solo dining. The overall ambiance was extremely welcome with an accommodating staff.

Good Sushi ! Went here with my work buddies today. The food was very good and the place was busy at lunch. Service was not bad either. I would definitely visit again , especially if i am driving somewhere on I-94 through Jackson. My favorite was the Angry Bird Sushi Roll and the Mach E. I didn't quite like the Beef and Asparagus

Shrimp tempura, Vegas crunch, volcano II, and spicy California

Happy to find a sushi place in Jackson as we are new around here!! We went for lunch and had four sushi rolls. The spicy California, shrimp tempura, volcano II, and Vegas crunch! Vegas crunch was our fav!!! The crunch and the eel sauce combined with all the goodies tucked inside made it our top choice. The spicy California, although simple, was super satisfying! Volcano II was good but it may have been too fishy for us (the irony when ordering sushi). Our waitress was super friendly and attentive and we will be back!

Mostly extended weekends when everyone is back in town to see family and friends. During the day, week, and a lot of weekends, it's just your typical less populated dive. They only accept cash, so you have to be prepared for that, but the drinks are ridiculously cheap and they don't skimp on the pour to make up for it. Cocktails... not really their specialty. This place is used to beer drinking regulars and people who want their liqueur straight up. They'll make you one, just don't have high expectations because this is not that kind of bar. There is a pool table and bar food. No full kitchen so the menu isn't overly impressive, but booze is more of their specialty. The staff is older and can be kind of crotchety, but that's usually if it's one of the crazy nights that all these young kids randomly show up. They weren't that kind of bar, I don't think the staff knows why these kids keep coming back, and they are slowly learning to embrace it. If you're a laid back person, looking for a cheap drink and a random conversation with a stranger at the bar, this is your kind of place. I've met some really off the wall folks and the regulars can keep you entertained for hours if you strike up a conversation with one... don't expect half of their tales to be true, but enjoy the ride.

And kids can play in the arcade that's located inside the restaurant while the adults talk. I can see why families like this place. The restaurant has a laid back vibe and is very spacious inside. I enjoyed the wooden tables and the overall decor of this lodge. There are also TVs around if you want to watch sports. I did not enjoy my food and I am usually pretty easy to please. It took me a while to find something because they were out of my first two orders, as well as the cocktail I wanted. I finally ordered the Hunt Club Salad with steak. I was asked how I wanted my steak cooked and I requested medium rare. What I was given was very overdone, tough, and inedible. I also assumed that they had their own salad dressing so I wasn't expecting it to arrive in little to-go containers, made by another company. One of my friends had the Spring Salad with chicken and thought it was just okay. She liked her Buffalo chicken rolls. My other friend loves the chicken chili and that is her regular order so I should have tried that. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I would not come here again but my friends are regulars, so I must be missing something. The service was friendly, which is always a positive. They tried their best, but overall it was a mediocre experience.

Disappointing BBQ Experience We drove in from a few towns…read moreover, excited to try this spot because they're open late (until 11pm) and we were craving some solid BBQ. Unfortunately, it was a pretty disappointing visit overall. We ordered the DQ Pulled Pork and Brisket, and both came out cold with no flavor. The corn bread was okay, and the collard greens were surprisingly spicy -- not bad, just unexpected. We originally wanted the trifecta but they had already run out of ribs. So we went for two orders of burnt ends, expecting that rich, crispy texture. Instead, they were soft, smushy, and cold -- more like baby food than BBQ. Not good at all. The only standout dish was the corn cream cheese side -- warm, flavorful, and probably the best part of the meal. Also worth mentioning: the bartender was great -- super cool and clearly passionate. The place itself has a chill, loungey vibe, but it doesn't really feel like a true BBQ joint. Final thoughts: Burnt ends: Cold, soft, no bark -- total miss Pulled pork & brisket: Cold, bland Collard greens: Spicy, but decent Corn cream cheese: Delicious Vibe: Cool, but not very BBQ-ish Service: Bartender was the highlight Wish we could've had the food to match the energy. Hopefully they can tighten things up, especially on the basics.

When the meetings finally ended, we were starving and in desperate need of real food. Surprisingly (and slightly concerning), this was one of the only restaurants around. The area itself is pretty quiet, mostly hotels and a few food spots, so when you find a good one, you commit. From the moment we walked in, the host greeted us warmly, which was already a great start. Since this is a teppanyaki spot, we were seated at a shared table they were working to fill, standard hibachi rules apply. While waiting, we ordered drinks because... obviously. I went with the lychee martini (pronounced Lie-chee, not Lee-chee, gotta respect the fruit LOL), and my colleague ordered the sweet plum. Both were delicious, refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. Next came the must-haves: edamame and gyoza. No notes. Just solid, comforting appetizers that did their job while we waited for the main event. With our meals, we were served the consommé soup and the salad with ginger dressing, and let me just say, that ginger dressing deserves its own fan club. So good. Once the table filled up, the show began. Flames, flair, knife skills, and all the hibachi magic you hope for. The chef was super entertaining and clearly knew how to keep the energy up. The staff overall was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel fun and welcoming. Bonus points for the fact that I spoke the language, which led to a mini conversation about why I was randomly in the middle of Michigan, always a fun topic. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. Good food, great service, and a much-needed post-meeting morale boost. If I ever find myself back in that part of Michigan, I'd absolutely come back, hopefully with fewer meetings next time.
