She has guided our building through many projects and changes, with many different contractors and has a gift for working well with our building employees, with the board and with contractors. We rented and lived at the Edge 11211 Condominium in Brooklyn for ~3 years. I have nothing but stellar things to say about all the staff members, especially the front desk staff, including Bernardo, Tim and Isreal. We recently worked with Amar Omeragic on the management team, as well as Edwin who works as a handyman on the staff, on a few things we needed to prepare for our upcoming move out of the state. They went above and beyond in their service, and really made our lives easier in the process. We are sad to leave the building, but know the next tenants are in great hands. Thank you! read more

Our apartment flooded due to the negligence of this company and they didn't even respond for 24 hours, finally emailing me back to say "That's very unfortunate." Since no one responded to our request, we had to find the backed-up patio drain ourselves by ripping up giant stone slabs until we found it. If we hadn't found the drain then the problem would have become even worse and ruined all of our belongings. AKAM has not lifted a finger to help us since, and six weeks later the patio is still completely ripped up. I don't exactly know what the condo owners are paying this company to do, but it seems to exist just to ignore requests. read more

The process of transferring ownership of my mother's coop apartment to me has been painful thanks to Akam. It has now been over nine months and it still isn't done. They've slow walked every step of the process, taking sometimes 4-6 weeks to review a provided document, and then making errors which take them another 4-6 weeks to corrwct. Phone calls and emails go unreturned. I think the woman I'm dealing with learned customer service from watching Patty and Selma from the Simpsons - "some days we don't [work] at all. You can count on her to complete any task efficiently and she always goes out of her way to enrich the lives of the residents in the building. One year under AKAM as the "new" management and I am writing a second review that nothing has improved. Qasim sends patronizing and condescending emails denying there are any problems and that no other shareholders alerted him to the problems. With great excitement, Parc Stamford announced that AKAM would take over management of the building on August 1st, 2021. Since August 1st, 2021, the building has gone straight downhill. We as residents have not seen one person from AKAM although we are told they are on site. The building has a serious code violation with hot water running between 135 and 140 degrees. It is unsafe and can cause serious injury. After many maintenance requests, nothing has been done. Total neglect. No communication. The pool used to be checked by maintenance every day. Now it is every 3-5 days. They can't even get the clock in the pool to work correctly. I have lived in luxury high rises in Manhattan all my life. This company would not last a minute in the buildings that have standards. read more

I would like to really compliment the division of AKAM management supervising window replacement in our coop by Tindall. The workers on site were friendly, careful, worked quickly and efficiently and did a wonderful job of protecting the floors and furniture. Special kudos to the project manager George Chkhikvadze, who was so professional, listened carefully and worked out a potential glitch to great satisfaction. He was a great listener, a quite respectful and insightful individual who is a real gentleman and takes great pride in his work and interactions with customers - something that is pretty rare these days. He checked frequently though the day to make sure workers were on point and that I was updated. He is quite observant and has a good sense of humor, also! He is an asset to AKAM and I would be so pleased to work with him again if the occasion should arise. Also a thank you to Kate who was personable, thorough and also a good communicator. read more

I rarely post reviews but a very positive one is well deserved for Christan Breedy. As a coop shareholder for almost ten years, my experience with Christan was remarkable. Every question was answered clearly and promptly. I never needed to follow up beyond my first inquiry. Her managerial skills are top notch and she really goes above and beyond to help. I feel very fortunate that we have her as our property manager. A true gem! She has restored my faith in the industry and I will continue to support her growth within AKAM. I have been living in a building managed by Akam for many years, and very displeased with this company. Since covid started they seem more interested in covering their bases than making sure residents are well taken care of. They started some ridiculous policies, which have led to packages being stolen (yeah, who knew mandating that packages be left outside the lobby could be an issue...) Discussions with them are often not handled in a professional manner. And overall they don't try to hide that they don't care one bit about the residents' concerns. I will never, ever again settle in a building where Akam is in charge. They are a liability to your property and should not be trusted. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Mila Skidelsky from Akam in 2021-2022 when she was an on-site agent at 630 First Ave. She was always extremely responsive, hard-working, ethical, and prompt. She was extremely respectful to me and other residents in the building. As a board member, I also saw her attention to detail behind the scenes and diligence in projects that were being undertaken around the building. She often stayed late to help with resident issues, and always responded in a timely manner. Her work ethic cannot be questioned. She was an asset to our building, and I'm sure she will continue to be a valuable resource wherever she works. read more

The absolute worst. Incompetent, unhelpful, and rude employees. Make the owners of apartments feel like they are criminals that Akam is policing. We have been targeted on the basis of our culture, religion, and/or socio-ethnic background. I don't know about Akam in general, however, the property managers at the Sheffield have been nothing but responsive to our needs. Kimberly and Valentina are wonderful. Our move in went smoothly. The building is run well and maintenance requests have been tended to promptly. Kimberly and Valentina are helping us navigate through a sensitive matter and have been kind, supportive and helpful---they even took the time to personally call on a Saturday to check in and make sure we are okay. I reach out from time to time on Zillow listings given our frequent long term stay in NY. Typically brokers reply, share a few details, offer to show a place. AKAM didn't even take the first step. My reach out to Julie Weintraub got a one word response "Yes". When I replied that I didn't know what "Yes" meant as I went through Zillow as standard reach out, her response was "Yes this apt is available". So a few more words. No offer to show or details as followup. I guess I'll go with another broker for my apt, sounds like she has more revenue than she can handle. Signature includes "Platinum Club Member". I guess not Platinum service. 2 stars as the apt photo looked appealing on Zillow. Oh well. read more

We've purchased a few apartments in the building over the years, and have undertaken various complex projects and renovations - as a result, we've definitely worked with building management more than the average New York co-op owner who only has one apartment, with one set of issues. Thankfully, we've had a first-class, reliable partner in Samantha. She has always proven herself to be an incredibly professional, intelligent, and get-it-done property manager. How many people can say that they actually look forward to interfacing with a property manager about anything? Samantha is different. Dreadful, from the first day till the very end and beyond. Two months after we close on an apartment in a building they manage, they bill us, this last week in December, for a closing fee, and they pre-date the invoice to November 10, eight days before closing. Classic example. P.S. To top off the year, we just received an invoice for both November and December, with a late fee penalty attached to November. We had paid November in full and were reimbursed by our buyers for their portion at closing. In December, we are long gone but they haven't removed us from their books, and they are likely double-billing. I wonder how often they get away with that. They were adding late fees when we first moved in, I recall, even though we paid before the 1st of the month. read more

Ironically, This "Matthew" Akam manager made a wonderful comment about Akam and got spammed into "unrecommended reviews" by Yelp, Thank you Yelp for your honesty. Frankly, who's this dumb to have their own employees to write a fake five-star review about themselves without disguising, of course Akam! cuz people work there have IQ of 5. just by doing that you can see how shady they are.... Two years later, an updated review about Akam------ Yes they charged more $$ to hire another trash collector for our building, yes, we produce so much more trash year after another... Yes Rachel is right, they begin to stalk residents like crazy! AS a freaking condo owner, I basically need to report to them whoever are staying with me, even my true blood parents!! they told us to write a letter to get their approval, what a BS! Look dude, this is NOT a college dorm, even college dorm gives more freedom. I paid so much more for a condo not a co-op to avoid going through those horse sh!t, still caught by the dirty Akam stain. I think Akam is one of the worst building management companies out there. Our contact for the building was Jorge Rodriguez. I had something I needed to report and I emailed him March 28, April 12 and finally, one last time, I emailed him was Oct 6, 2016. NO ANSWER. I'm still waiting for an answer, NOTHING. No acknowledgment or receipt, no interest in acting as a management company. He would show up at our scheduled meetings with his business cards that he will give and smile saying "anything you need, please contact me." As you can see here below, all are 5 stars or 1 star, that is a rather strange contrast. Look below, more people say they don't reply. I had a furniture delivery last week and contacted Hillary Wehrle in the Park City 3&4 management under AKAM for filling out the paperwork. Hillary was nice and patient to explain all the details to me regarding my furniture delivery. I always felt headaches arranging furniture delivery in a coop building.
