    The bill!!!

This place has quickly become my husband and my favorite place. We're working our way down the chef special and everything has been amazing! But it took one special waiter for me to take the time to write this review. I don't know his name but he is a true gem. He had hilarious commentary throughout our dining experience and when the bill came he showed up with two bills!! We expected he split it and we quickly explained that we were together and that one check would suffice. To my blundering surprise, I opened my bill and found not a check but this super cute illustration. I plan to frame it because the impact it had on me was so profound that it made me want to be even better at my job as well and add fun little spice as he did. Well done Akashi!! Give this guy a raise!

Always enjoy eating here. The interior is very nice. We've eaten at the bar and in a booth. Always good service and the food and drinks are yummy.

I love Akashi! I usually go to the one in vintage but I was in the area for lunch and I love this place. I was the first customer of the day and service was fairly quick. I was seated instantly and my order was taken pretty quick. I got the lunch special triple delight and an order of calamari. The calamari came out pretty quick. Very quick and tasty. I don't like how they use a bunch of veggies to make it look full with a little bit of calamari. The flavors are on point but the plating was a bit sloppy. The lunch special comes with fried rice or white rice and choice of soup. I got white rice and egg drop soup. I love their egg drop soup. It's seasoned nicely where you don't have to add any salt. I wish they had black pepper on the table. I love black pepper in my food. The eggroll was really good and the triple delight was good. It has a bit of a burnt wok taste like the wok was too hot. It was tasty tho.

It's my first time to come to here. The environment is very good and the restaurant is very clean. The service is pretty good, and the sushi and appetizers I ordered are also very satisfactory. The price is reasonable and cost-effective, and it is worth coming again ..

Coming back from a trip in the evening, no one has time to go grocery shopping. After eating tons of good authentic Mexican food I craved for sushi. We hit the jackpot because this place is 5 minutes from our house and sushi definitely fulfilled my craving. When you walk in you see the host/hostess and then you turn and are greeted by all the pretty lights happening at the bar area. They have 3 TV's and even though we didn't sit at the bar we we're still able to watch the rockets game. No squinting or trying to squirm around to see the tv. We ordered 3 different sushi: Volcano roll, tuna and avocado, & Chilean cod- amazing and we would order it again. Never had cod in a sushi before but take that sushi, dip it in the sauce, and you'll thank me later! Of course we had to order hot saki. No different from any other place. Be sure to suck in some air to bring out the flavors of the saki! Otherwise, you're missing out!

Good food with a nice ambiance. I like the veggie roll as a nice snack or light meal. The kids sized fried rice is a nice option for lunch! Very clean establishment with quality service.

I finally tried out Akashi last week and was extremely pleased. The order took a bit longer than I expected, I called when they first opened, arrived when they said the food would be ready, and still had to wait an extra 10 minutes, which wouldn't have been a big deal if my wife and baby weren't waiting in the car. That said, quarantine makes everything difficult, the staff was good at wearing masks and keeping hygiene, and the patrons all kept good distance between each other. The food itself was fantastic, one of the favorite Asian dishes I've had in clear lake. I ordered the Mongolian triple delight which had beef, shrimp, and chicken. The beef was extremely tender, the chicken was lean and not gummy, and the shrimp was well cooked and de-shelled. There weren't many veggies in the dish, I think just green onions, and I would have loved some more veggies in it but the fried rice it came with was definitely a great compliment to the proteins. I would 100% recommend this dish to others and I look forward to trying other dishes at Akashi!

Upon arrival, I was told that I could not sit at the sushi bar and eat. If I wanted to order I had to go sit in the common area of this dining hall. After this discussion, I said fine and asked for a menu. They then told me I had to get up and order at the register and view the menu glued to the counter. They took the order of a couple who sat down maybe 2 minutes before me in front of me. I will never come back to this place. They seem to be the last man standing in this dining hall, and with this kind of customer service, they won't last much longer. It's a shame because I love the food and I am a regular at handies and aiko as well. Won't be back to any of them.

The restaurant itself was pretty packed - there wasn't any parking (but they do have an overflow lot you can use). Inside the vibe was nice & upscale. It was surprisingly not intimate & was a little loud. The bathroom hallway was very cool (as the other reviews have said) I got the three course lunch w/ an added chutoro nigiri. The restaurant week lunch was fine, but the nigiri really stood out. I wish they would've had even just one nigiri on the restaurant week menu. The kombu salad was good & had nice flavor without being too overpowering. The hamachi crudo was awesome!! I'm a big crudo fan, but this one was above and beyond my expectations. All of the flavors played so well together & my yellowtail was so fresh and light and buttery. I loved the creaminess of the sauce & how it balanced the acidity of the tomatoes & onion so well. I savored every bite. Honestly the hand rolls left a lot to be desired. The kani hand role wasn't super great. The flavor was mid & the texture felt a bit off. I also thought sake hand roll was just ok.. My chutoro nigiri was also awesome. The cut was beautiful & the fish was super fresh and had an awesome texture. It just melted in my mouth. I'll definitely be back to try the lunch nigiri tasting menu. I'd recommend trying this place, just make sure to get the crudo or nigiri

GENERALIZED REVIEW:…read more Came here with a friend from theatre after a full run--he had this place recommended to him by another theatre friend, so we're just passing on the word. The plaza was a bit confusing to navigate, and I'm pretty sure if the place weren't full of Asian parents and their kids, it would've felt like the shadiest place ever because you have to enter from the back. Otherwise, the plaza had a lot of great-looking stores overall. My first go-to: I've loved drinking Kirin Light ever since I discovered it in Chicago. The flavor is literally so light, with a slight acidity that brightens up my meal. The sake here was frankly also delicious. I didn't order it, but my friend did, and they had it warmed. The flavor was soothing and subtle, almost like tea. It was exceptionally easy to drink, and the ocean-themed ceramicware was a beautiful touch. We ordered two rolls: the Shaggy Dog and the Truffalufagus (a fun tongue-twister). I personally chose the Truffalufagus (which is not fun to spell) because it seemed like the most unique dish on the menu, and I enjoyed it very much. What I liked most about it was that it was subtle yet impactful. I also loved the textures--from the internal crunch paired with the fresh jalapeño to the softness of the fish. I'm glad I gave this roll a shot, and I would be excited to try it again anytime. The Shaggy Dog was great, but it appealed less to my flavor profile. It was a little too rich and creamy for me. I recommended this place to my BF as a potential future date spot--I personally think he would like it... if he weren't the type to enjoy AYCE sushi so much. If they had more unique rolls, I would definitely come back just for those. I was tempted to order the Surf and Turf for this round, but I didn't want to seem like a glutton, hahaha.

Everything works like clockwork. The menu is tight and focused, they clearly know exactly what they do well, and the food comes out incredibly quickly. Tables turn over fast enough that there didn't seem to be much of a line when we were there, although we did make a reservation. They also did a great job pacing our food. My wife ordered three rolls and I ordered four, and neither of us really ended up sitting around waiting for the other person to finish. It felt like they were actually paying attention to the timing, which was impressive. One thing to know is that there really aren't traditional tables. The restaurant is basically all counter/bar seating. I think that makes it a great place for one, two, or maybe three people, but once you get to four people it would probably be harder to have a conversation across everyone. I wouldn't necessarily pick it for a double date or a larger group, but for two people the setup works really well.
