This is my first time in Texas by myself and not with friends. I've been out to see as a veteran for about 4 years and I have the say everything I tried was top notch. I may have came here at a good time where there was no particular service to focus on other than me, but between the three sake fact I got and all the fresh fish that was available everything flavor-wise was amazing. However, the service went above and beyond and made sure I was good even though I was bouncing from the restaurant and the store next door. They made sure I was okay And as soon as another customer walked in he was able to treat them with the same expeditiousness I was given. There was only two people however behind the counter I didn't even given time. Been coming here for several years, off and on. This used to be my go-to place for sushi. Now I pretty much just come here when I want something specific, like the Flaming Tiger. I would probably order here more, most likely take-out for lunch, but the roll I like is not on the to go menu. I asked the last time I went in why it isn't and the wait staff said, " I am not sure". And never revisited the issue. Two months later and the issue has not been fixed so..... I am sure nothing was ever addressed with the owners or management. The roll I like is the Flaming Tiger as mentioned above. And I get that it is a role that is set on fire at the table. But I have ordered it to go in the past and they just do it before they box it. I am fine with that. After all I am ordering it because I like the roll, not the "show". So, it should be on the menu somewhere so that I can order it online in advance rather than ordering it when I get there and having to stare at their fish tank for 10-15 minutes while they fix it. Another thing I don't like is they have specials. Which sounds strange not to like. But their specials are not really specials. When I think of a special, I think it is something that they are promoting and giving a price discount on. Maybe a dollar off on that day or something like that. Nope. It is just an "advertised" roll. And it is not that they only make it on a specific day as it is on their everyday menu. I know my husband likes the Rocketman Maki($14). I love the Flaming Tiger ($18). I also have gotten their Beef Gyu Tataki. My husband does not care for it because it comes to the sliced very thin and raw. But if you do not care for raw or rare items, take a slice and put it in the ponzu sauce and it quickly has the "chemical" reaction where it is cooked from the acids in the ponzu sauce. You dont get much meat for the price. I think you get about 8-9 very thin strips for 10 dollars. Rather expensive considering it just requires plating. I can get the meat at Super H Mart and a bottle of Ponzu and get twice or even three times the meat for the same price. But it is very attractively plated, and I do like their ponzu sauce, so I get it now and then. Thier Scallop Batayaki is nothing more than scallops sautéed in butter. And at 9 dollars for an order, I will pass. I can make that at home. Thier Kani Salad is good. I have also had their Tropical Roll. Pretty good but the roll itself tasted frozen and thawed. Not fresh. But not bad. Sometimes you get thick slices.... sometimes they are about the width of a pencil. So, sometimes you get your moneys worth. I think I have also tried their fried ice cream, but it has been a while. Must not have been anything to write home about. But if they could fix the issue with the menu matching what they offer in the restaurant, then I would be thrilled and probably order more often. I work close by (NASA) and so I have lots of options for Sushi near me. Heck, Ichibon is just down the street from me. If they could make the roll I like available to order online, I would probably pass them all to get the roll I like. read more

I asked for no onions on the shrimp teriyaki and it was smothered in onions and even topped off with green onions. The tempura vegetables were overcooked and soaked in oil. I have never had fried rice loaded with corn kernels. The quality over all was well below our standards. It was way over priced for poor quality food. I ordered some cream puffs for the appetizer and they were fried to perfection filled with lobster & cream cheese ; it comes with a spicy chili sauce which tops it off perfect! The service - I walked in and explained it was my first time visiting the restaurant and the area , the hostess was extremely helpful and I was seated immediately! The timing- I ordered my food and within 5 minutes I received my appetizer ; once I was finished wiping the plate my sushi was delivered to the table. Compared to Ichibon it comes up short. Compared to East Star's sushi selection, it is flashier/more attractive looking and has more options, but is more expensive and the taste is markedly similar as far as quality. As much as I like neato presentation and colors (e.g. they have a roll that looks just like Azuma's Crazy Irishman roll which is visually stunning and quite delicious) I think you need fresh quality to back it up - otherwise it is just gild, and that did not work out so well in the 1920s. Three stars is somewhat misleading as it is merely "okay" in the way that Chipotle would do if Freebirds were not available for some reason. I consider this to be the Taco Bell level of sushi. I will eat here for sure - but I am generally pushing for East Star or Ichibon if I am in the area on business. read more

Decent sushi. they have a lot of selections, but they are all kind of the same if you really look at whats inside of them. Not to be mean but i would say this is more of a "white people" sushi place. This place has a great selection of specialty rolls and a great price, and all other sushi items are priced right as well.
