We came here for the first time for valentines weekend dinner. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious! We sat by the bar and chatted with the chef. We got the special crab rolls and chirashi bowl. The sashimi tastes very very clean and fresh! The chef brought us special orange slices in sake, and it was so perfect! We will definitely be coming back. One things that would improve the experience more is to get higher chairs in front of the bar. Happened into this place last night because nearby restaurants were crowded. Aki Sushi had a nice patio with plenty of seating. The menu is laid out nicely with plenty of options to choose from, whether you're a sushi lover or prefer more conventional fare. I ordered the caterpillar roll and seaweed salad. Others in my party tried different udon bowls. While service was a little slow at the beginning, the food came out quickly. Our server was quite pleasant and very knowledgeable about the menu. There isn't much on the menu under $14, but it looks like there are some really great lunch specials if you're in the area. I have come on 8 separate occasions and they have all been very pleasant experiences. I came the 2nd weekend after they first opened. One of my rolls took a bit longer than the rest, and my server mentioned to me that they were having issues with items printing. I've read other reviews and I've seen this was an issue for others the first couple of weeks. I've gone several times after that and they seem to have fixed whatever kinks they were having at first, which is understandable for a new place. I highly recommend the B Strong, Salmon Roll, Chopstick Roll, and Lobster Roll. My favorite Hand Roll is the Spicy Tuna. I love the fact that the sushi rolls have plenty of meat, and they are large, full rolls. They definitely do not skimp out. The thing here I admire is their quality. It really shows in everything. The place looks modern, and they really went all out with their plates and such. They recently put out a patio which I have enjoyed on those cool evenings now that summer is headed out. I come all the way from the east side for this Westside gem. Pictured are Crunchy Roll, the white roll with pinkish ends is Fluke, and the one with Avocado is the Chopstick Roll. I truly wanted to think this place is at least 4 stars but i cant help but feel robbed of my money for what i got today. I made the mistake of not looking at the menu because im so used to ordering my two favorite sushi orders after becoming so accostumed to them from Sushi Garden. Boy was that a mistake. Without hesitation, I ordered the caterpillar roll and salmon nigiri and water. My waiter still made sure and asked once more if i at least wanted to look at the menu still. I said i would be ok without it still. My total came up to 22$ total. How. In. The. Hell. I do recall my waiter stating that the salmon nigiri was 6$.... So my caterpillar roll was $15?? Wow. Let me tell you, that roll was rather on the small size for that much money. Thats my favorite roll and i honestly cant see myself coming here again for it at that steep price. Same for the salmon nigiri. Very small amount of salmon for that price. I can only imagine how the rest of their rolls rates are. They were delicious yes but way too expensive. Service is friendly and quick which was nice. And the place had a great setting with ceiling high windows all around so you have nice view of the farmers market when its in full swing. My wife and I have eaten sushi In Japan, Alaska, several spots in California, Hawaii, Florida, Texas, and many sushi restaurants in Las Vegas, including Nobu. This restaurant AKI ranks among the best we have experienced. The grade of fish, the cuts, the temperature are all exceptional. As well, Chopsticks (as he is known to the frequent clientele) makes you feel right at home and is a great conversationalist. He always remembers you and greets warmly. My group got seated pretty quickly on a weekday night despite the hustle and bustle around us. We ordered a variety of sushi rolls. While the food was solid it did take quite a while and none of us were overly impressed. I liked their saki. Its been a while since i ate there so i cant remember the exact rolls we ordered. I am a huge fan of Japanese food, especially sushi. Being from Hawai'i and having travelled to Tokyo, my pallet is a little spoiled, so discovering Aki Sushi has helped with my cravings for good sashimi and sushi. The menu is simple. It provides a wide variety of traditional dishes: udon, sushi rolls, nigiri, and appetizers. I had the hamachi kama, and it was cooked perfectly: broiled with a crispy outside and moist & tender inside. We also had toro sashimi which was melt in your mouth fresh! I gave it 4 stars due to the lack of a kids menu, but we made it work. The decor is modern and the service was great. This is a hidden gem off of Doniphan! The shopping area that it's in is also home to a farmers market on Sundays, with a variety of shops you can wander into. I'm looking forward to enjoying more meals here! Very nice ambiance, friendly staff, and awesome location. I had the Aki roll - 5 piece lunch combo and it did not disappoint! Miso soup, garden salad with a fresh ginger dressing, and great quality fish! Even the sprouts in the roll were crisp and tasted like they were right from the garden! Let me start off with I'm the kind of person that likes to try out new things, regardless of talks and other reviews. Mostly because someone else's experience could've been different than mine. I only tell my side of the experience. It's gonna take a certain type of costumer to get off here, You've got the sushi costumer that knows his stuff and the Upper Valley costumer. It was extremely empty when I walked in which is usually a bad sign but I figured it could've just been the hour I went in. Super clean and looks brand new (obviously) I still went ahead not to judge and got myself the appetizer that attached a photo of (deep fried shell crab). For what it was.. it was ok. But for the price I thought it was a little too much. Eel sauce is what saved the day on that one. So I wasn't too pleased.. Then I went ahead and ordered the Lobster roll. Went here for the very first time. I ordered takeout. I got the tempura app and lobster roll. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was nice when walking in. Hostess and sushi chef greeted. Reason for the 3 stars is the meal itself. I ordered a lobster roll thinking that all ingredients would be inside the roll. As you can see the lobster, mushrooms and sauce are on the outside. Went in fir lunch and I can't believe anyone works there. I overheard the manager or boss totally degrading the servers. Telling them they are irritating can't do their jobs and it went on and on. Pre COVID this restaurant was easily 5 stars. Post COVID service was pitiful. We had a child in our party and the first thing we asked for was fried rice for the child to eat and keep calm. We were the only customers dining in. Our sushi we ordered after the rice came well before the rice, in fact we were able to finish our sushi before the rice came out. The chicken in the rice looked like over cooked mushrooms. Their excuse was to-go orders had them swamped yet only 2 orders were picked up during our entire hour visit.
